Perhaps the perfect children's bedtime book, Goodnight Moon is a short poem of goodnight wishes from a young rabbit preparing for--or attempting to postpone--his own slumber. He says goodnight to every object in sight and within earshot, including the "quiet old lady whispering hush." Clement Hurd's illustrations are simple and effective, alternating between small ink drawings and wide, brightly colored views of the little rabbit's room.
Finding all of the items mentioned throughout the book within the pictures is a good bedtime activity--a reappearing little mouse is particularly pesky. By the end of the little rabbit's goodnight poem, the story has quieted to a whisper, and the drawings have darkened with nightfall. As you turn the last page, you can expect a sleepy smile and at least a yawn or two. (Picture book)
Book Description
In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. "Goodnight room, goodnight moon." And to all the familiar things in the softly lit room--to the picture of the three little bears sitting in chairs, to the clocks and his socks, to the mittens and the kittens, to everything one by one--he says goodnight.
In this classic of modern children's literature, beloved by generations of readers and listeners, the quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day.

Most Awesomest bedtime story.......2007-06-21
My 2 yr old daughter loves this book. We read it every night. She actually reads it to me now!
A classic.......2007-06-13
We read this every night and has helped to establish a good bedtime routine, and ease off the bottle
My daughter's favourite bed-time story.......2007-06-09
My 2 year old daughter was given this book by her Grandad, and it has become an integral part of the bed-time routine. Every night I read her a couple of other stories and then she asks for 'Moon'. She settles down in her bed, just like the rabbit, and points to everything that is mentioned in the story, counting the three little bears sitting on chairs and the two kittens. She then waves goodnight to everything and whispers "hush" with the little old lady. By the end of the story the gentle wording has lulled her so that her eyes are heavy and she easily sleeps.
I love this book, because with it my daughter and I share something special every night that parents and children have shared together for generations. It is a timeless classic because it understands how children see the world.
Classic.......2007-06-02
This was my son's favorite bedtime book for over a year. So by now I have it memorized. It's a sweet little rhyming book that gets little ones in the mood for bedtime. We've had the regular size board book which now lives at Grandma's house, and we have the lap edition at home. I highly recommend!
Goodnight light and the red balloon..... Fabulous bedtime book!.......2007-06-02
We love this book- our copy is well-read! When children are read to daily, they learn to love reading. Perfect bedtime stories, to calm everyone down and make us ready for sweet dreams. If you can find the LARGE size board book get it- they're fabulous keepsakes. Perfect gifts for any child, and a perfect tradition in your own home and family!

Based on the popular bedtime story Guess How Much I Love You, My Baby Book is a delightful way to record and cherish the important events of your baby's first two years. Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare return to scamper through the pages, adding just the right touch of whimsy to this charming scrapbook. Divided into sections such as "Up and About" and "On Vacation," the book is enhanced by the well-known declarations of Little Nutbrown Hare. "Guess how often I fell over! Oops-a-daisy!" he says, balancing himself on a tree stump under "My First Step." Anita Jeram's soft watercolors and expressive line drawings are truly heartwarming without ever being saccharine, and the baby-book section ideas are refreshingly innovative. With ample room to record everything from baby's height and weight to the price of a newspaper on the date of baby's birth, and plenty of space to add photographs, My Baby Book is one of the best available. --Aimee Damann
Book Description
The American Booksellers Book of the Year nominee is available as a sturdy board book for the youngest of children. Little Nutbrown Hare wants to show Big Nutbrown Hare how very much he loves him - but love as big as his is very hard to measure!

To the moon and back-- what's not to love???.......2007-06-02
We love this book!! When I tell my (now 5 1/2 y/o) son I love him to the moon and back- he replies that he loves me to PLUTO and back. He loves space and science, and he loves reading at nighttime especially. If you can find the LARGE size board book get it- they're fabulous keepsakes. Kids learn to enjoy reading when you read to them every night- make it a tradition in your family!
Beautiful.......2007-05-24
That's the most beautiful book for a young child that I know of. It perfectly expresses the mother's love. I enjoy reading it every night before my daughter goes to bed. I started to read it to her over a year ago when she was only two years old, and now she can read it with me. It has created a special bond between us. I highly recommend this book to any loving mother. In addition to that I also recommend a book series titled "Why Some Cats are Rascals ( Book 3)" containing lovely and inspiring stories for older children. My other recommendations go to:
Love You Forever
The Giving Tree
Corduroy
The first book I ever bought for my daughter..........2007-04-23

Customer Reviews:
Great for 4 year olds and 30 year olds!.......2007-06-22
I bought this for my 4-year-old daughter who is high-spirited and has a hard time settling down at night. She loves this. We keep the CD on "repeat" through the night. That way if she wakes up, she just listens to the CD and it puts her back to sleep. No need to come to Mom and Dad's room! Yay! It's also the only meditation CD that I enjoy, for myself.
Aaaahhhh........2007-05-23
Very relaxing, for adults as well as children. She has a hypnotic voice that works as well as a massage.

What a treat, I got this for my grandsons ages 8 and 2. They listen to her soothing voice and drift away looking soo content and peaceful. I must say all the sounds are very soothing. I even fall asleep sometimes before them.
Another AWESOME product from Lori Lite.......2007-02-16
This is an absolute must! You will love this and your children will too. The stories are superb and the relaxation sounds are so soothing. This is one of several Lori Lite items that we have, and as always I am more than satisfied. My children ask for either a CD or story from her collection every single night, and I am always pleased that they do. Thanks Ms. Lite for keeping our family relaxed and feeling confident!
Children's Yoga Teacher and Mom LOVES these CDs.......2007-02-13
I use this CD during savasana and my students - Kindergarten-3rd Graders - LOVE THEM. They request stories, and they've asked me to tell their parents about the CDs. I also teach family yoga and the parents love the CDs. In addition, my five-year-old son listens to these CDs when he has trouble getting a violent movie or a scary thought out of his head. He was spooked the night before Halloween and this CD did the trick. It also works it's soporific charms during sleepovers. I usually give the kids 20 minutes to play around, then tell them it's time to go to bed. They predictably complain, "We can't fall asleep!" I put the CD on and don't hear a peep until morning.

For a little one who is reluctant to go to bed, sometimes a silly book is just the ticket. And when it comes to silly books, Sandra Boynton is the undisputed queen. In The Going to Bed Book, an ark full of animals watches the sun go down and then prepares for bed. They take a bath ("in one big tub"), find pajamas, brush their teeth, do exercises up on deck (imagine an elephant jumping rope, a moose lifting weights, and a pig doing handstands), and finally say good night.
The moon is high. The sea is deep.
They rock
and rock
and rock
to sleep.
Boynton's inimitable animal characters have graced the pages of scads of picture books over the years. She has an extraordinary knack for knowing what appeals to small children: simple rhymes, goofy animals in goofy settings, and sweet, comforting stories. This book, along with her many other board-book titles (Moo, Baa, La La La!, But Not the Hippopotamus, and others) will surely remain a favorite. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
Serious silliness for all ages. Artist Sandra Boynton is back and better than ever with completely redrawn versions of her multi-million selling board books. These whimsical and hilarious books, featuring nontraditional texts and her famous animal characters, have been printed on thick board pages, and are sure to educate and entertain children of all ages.
Customer Reviews:
Surprisingly GREAT!.......2007-06-06
I brought this book home because my son liked it at the store. My husband and I read it...didn't think it was anything great, and hardly read it. When our son was 12mo. old. This became his favorite book. It is very simple. The words are simple and rhyme. Our son first started acting out the words to books when we started reading this book. He loves to "scrub, scrub, scrub" his belly on the bath page, and he show us his muscles on the exercise page. It is a great book. He is just turning 2 an still loves it. (along with all of the Sandra Boynton books).
It reads..."The sun has set not long below...so everybody goes below...to take a bath in one big tub...with soap all over, Scrub, Scrub, Scrub...they hang their towels on the wall, and find pajamas big and small...with some on top and some beneath, the brush, and brush, and brush their teeth, and when the moon is on the rise, they all go up to exercise, and down once more, but not so fast...they're on their way to bed at last...they say good night, and somebody turns off the light. The moon is high, the sea is deep, the rock, and rock, and rock to sleep."
So Fun and Silly!!.......2007-05-31
We have the board book edition of this, and even though our 'baby' is 5, we still read it often. I just can't figure out WHY people get rid of their 'board books' once their baby is past the toddler stage. These are little treasures. I think I'll probably keep all of ours and read 'em for myself to keep me young when I'm in the nursing home! -At least the grandkids will have something fun to look at when they visit.:)
The rhyming and the illustrations in this book are great! You get to see the animals go through their nite time rituals of getting ready for bed. We enjoy reading this as well as our daughter. It's a short one and she's memorized it, so she reads it to her dolls sometimes.
Great for Bedtime.......2007-05-25
My little boy loves listening as I read this as one of our three bedtime books. It is short and cute .
Bedtime favourite.......2007-05-24
My 28 month old daughter absolutely adores this book, as does her 32 year old mother! It has a remarkably calming effect on her when she's all wound up at the end of the day, and fighting sleep as children her age are wont to do. The wonderful rhythm of the words is soothing, and easy for her to understand. She has begun "reading" along with me, and it's delightful to actually witness her learning. Thank you, Sandra Boynton, for putting your remarkable talent towards such a wonderful thing as children's books!!! My big thanks go also to Boszenna Nowiki for creating inspiring series of children books titled Why Some Cats are Rascals ( Book 3). Check also The Giving Tree, Corduroy, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 1, Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 2
Love Sandra Boynton!.......2007-04-26
You cannot go wrong with a Sandra Boynton book. Her clever rhymes are a pleasurable read-aloud, and the length is perfect for even the shortest attention span. This is one of our favorites!

"One night, after thinking it over for some time, Harold decided to go for a walk in the moonlight." So begins this gentle story that shows just how far your imagination can take you. Armed only with an oversized purple crayon, young Harold draws himself a landscape full of beauty and excitement. But this is no hare-brained, impulsive flight of fantasy. Cherubic, round-headed Harold conducts his adventure with the utmost prudence, letting his imagination run free, but keeping his wits about him all the while. He takes the necessary purple-crayon precautions: drawing landmarks to ensure he won't get lost; sketching a boat when he finds himself in deep water; and creating a purple pie picnic when he feels the first pangs of hunger.
Crockett Johnson's understated tribute to the imagination was first published in 1955, and has been inspiring readers of all ages ever since. Harold's quiet but magical journey reminds us of the marvels the mind can create, and also gives us the wondrous sense that anything is possible. (Ages 4 to 8)
Book Description
One evening Harold decided to go for a walk in the moonlight. But there wasn't any moon, and Harold needed a moon for a walk in the moonlight. Fortunately, he had brought his purple crayon. So he drew a moon. He also needed something to walk on. So he drew a path...
And thus begins one of the most imaginative and enchanting adventures in all of children's books. The creative concept behind this beloved story has intrigued children and kept them absorbed for generations, as page by page unfolds the dramatic and clever adventures of Harold and his purple crayon.

PURPLE POWER.......2007-06-27
I wasn't too sure if my Kindergarten students would enjoy this story, but they were very excited about it. They were totally engaged in every page. It's a great book for teaching sequencing. I followed up the story by having each child draw in purple crayon only, their adventure. Instead of "Harold and the Purple Crayon" they put their name in the title. It gave them an opportunity to use their imagination, just as Harold had done. This 50th Anniversary story has stood the test of time.

We recently purchased this book for our 2 1/2 yr old son. This is the first book that after reading to him, he has said, "Read it again!" We read this at least three times in a row the first night.
Harold uses his crayon to bring his imagination to life and take him on an adventure. He wants to take a walk in the moonlight, so he draws a moon and a path...later he needs something to eat, so he draws his favorite pies...he can't eat all the pie, so he draws animals to finish the pie...
It really is an adorable book and does a great job of capturing the child's imagination.
Calming and Empowering .......2007-05-24
My son fell in love with this book. It showed him that all he needs in his life is the imagination to have an adventure. It is a book that is both calming and empowering to kids. It allows them to dream and imagine. It is a classic that certainly deserves your consideration. Another such volume is "Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 1". Make them available to your children.
Harold and the Purple Crayon.......2007-05-14
My 4yr old son LOVES this book. We read it almost every night. I highly suggest this creative book for any boy or girl.

Product Description
The 1964 Caldecott Medal Winner for the Most Distinguished Picture Book of the Year by Maurice Sendak. Brian O'Doherty of The New York Times said the Mr. Sendak's work "disguised in fantasy, springs from his earliest self, from the vagrant child that lurks in the heart of all of us."
Amazon.com
Where the Wild Things Are is one of those truly rare books that can be enjoyed equally by a child and a grown-up. If you disagree, then it's been too long since you've attended a wild rumpus. Max dons his wolf suit in pursuit of some mischief and gets sent to bed without supper. Fortuitously, a forest grows in his room, allowing his wild rampage to continue unimpaired. Sendak's color illustrations (perhaps his finest) are beautiful, and each turn of the page brings the discovery of a new wonder.
The wild things--with their mismatched parts and giant eyes--manage somehow to be scary-looking without ever really being scary; at times they're downright hilarious. Sendak's defiantly run-on sentences--one of his trademarks--lend the perfect touch of stream of consciousness to the tale, which floats between the land of dreams and a child's imagination.
This Sendak classic is more fun than you've ever had in a wolf suit, and it manages to reaffirm the notion that there's no place like home.

Sweet Fun Story.......2007-06-19
A magical story with a little bit of lesson built into it. The best part is saying the fun-to-pronounce words and looking at the detailed pictures.
Classic Children's Story.......2007-06-13
I don't know why, but kids LOVE this book. My daughter and step children have me read a few books to them every night before bed, and this has become the book we always include.
I loved it..........2007-06-13
as a kid. The pictures take me back. I still love this book, but the writing is very remedial and the pacing is poor. Regardless I'd recommend it to anyone for the creativity it spawns.
A classic.......2007-05-25
Such a classic book. I love the illustrations and the short story format.
A Must-Have.......2007-05-25
If you are a good parent you must get a copy of "Where The Wild Things Are". This is a story of a very bad boy's day of imaginative roll playing and final acceptance of his place in the real world. I love reading it to my children and watching as their little faces lit up in recognition of adventures they had endured during their own periods of bad behavior... Check it out and get it for your little "darlings". Another MUST HAVE for your children is the series Why Some Cats are Rascals ( Book 3) by Nowiki. Very captivating and touching stories showing the world with cats eyes. Other great titles: A Giraffe and a Half, Dragon Rider,
Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 1, Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 2

Book Description
It's getting dark out, but one stubborn Pigeon is NOT going to bed! Toddlers and parents will love this interactive bedtime romp which puts readers back in the driver's seat, deflecting Pigeon's sly trickery as he tries to escape his inevitable bedtime. Will you let him stay up late?
Customer Reviews:
Is the Pigeon my two year old son?.......2007-06-06
Mo Willems has a keen sense of the antics of children as they try desperately to hang on to every second of the day before they go to sleep. Poor pigeon tries every trick in the book to stay up for just another few minutes before falling helplessly into dreamland. A funny insightful book. Love it.
Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late!.......2007-05-21
Somehow I ordered two books by mistake. My grandchildren enjoyed the book and I gave the second book to a friend who had an emergency trip to her child's school to read to them. My second book was a "life saver" for her and the school children really enjoyed the book.
FANTASTIC!.......2007-04-10
My four and six year old girls LOVE this book. Everytime we read it-they think it is laugh out loud funny!
Mo's done it again.......2007-03-22
Bravo to Mo Willems for writing yet another hilarious, sweet book for children. I feel like he interviewed my child for the content of this one. We had the oppourtunity at our local book store to hear him read and it was fabulous. I encourage all parents/guardians to buy the collection of pigeon books for the child/ren in your life. They will be glad you did. The pigeon is an endearing, funny character with a solid place in literary history. I mean it! You'll love it. Enjoy.
Pigeon has helped us.......2007-02-08
Thank you to Mo Willems, Trixie and of course PIGEON! Upon reading "don't let the pigeon drive the bus" he gave my children a voice to stand up for what was appropriate and right. No matter how cute and charming the little guy is, the kids look forward to telling him "NO'. With all the joy our entire family gets from the "...bus" we had to buy this one. Reading this as a family at bedtime actually helped us get bedtime a little more under control. Since the kids were given the authority to make pigeon go to bed, they seem to have gained an understanding of why it is important for them to do the same. Absolutely BRILLIANT in it's simplicity!

Book Description
Darkness is falling everywhere and little ones are getting sleepy, feeling cozy, and being tucked in. It’s time for a wide yawn, a big hug, and a snuggle under the covers--sleep tight! “Working beautifully with the soothingly repetitive text, each painting conveys a warm feeling of safety and affection.”--School Library Journal
Customer Reviews:
A good good-night book.......2007-06-08
Mem Fox's beautiful, simple, gentle text frames the detailed and appealing illustrations. Young children will love the different baby animals with their mothers, all being coaxed to sleep at the end of the day. A sweet sharing of a familiar, comforting routine.
Surprisingly Beautiful.......2007-05-23
I had never read this book before as a child, and I just like the cover. I was shopping for new books for my 3 month old son, and I am so pleased at the inside of this book as well. He isn't quite old enough to appreciate the illustrations, but I know that he will love the Mommies and the Babies that are in each new page.
A favorite in our house.......2007-04-14
This is one of my 17-month-old's most-requested books. He asks for it even when it isn't bedtime. He loves to say goodnight to the child at the end. The illustrations are wonderful and the text is calming.
Such a sweet book.......2007-04-10
My niece had this book and i bought a copy for my youngest daughter - i've also sent it as a baby gift - it's just a really sweet book. perfect for winding down a day...
Great book for the little ones.......2007-03-17
This is a favorite in our house. My daughter has loved this book for months now. She recognizes the different animals and makes the noises before we get to the page. The pictures are nicely done and include a baby and mother or father animal on each page. I highly recommend this book.

Book Description
Here is the rare book that not only expresses a parent's love for their child, but offers a hope for what that love will become. It begins with a wish at bedtime, as parents hold their children tight and hope their love will cradle them, safe and sound. It continues through the day their children have grown up, proud and strong, and can pass that love on to someone else. This is a book that goes beyond a parent's "I love you" to the generous wish that our children will make the world a better place.
Customer Reviews:
To share with children of all ages.......2007-03-11
This lovely book, through its tender prose and wonderful illustrations, reminds us that love and respect are the most enduring legacy we can give our children. The timeless message: from infancy in the security of our parents' arms, to the time we must be strong for our elders, the child who is loved is able to return that gift, again and again.
I'll be sharing this book with friends of all ages for years to come.
The Grandfather doesn't make it.......2007-03-04
You cannot read this without crying. Believe me! With that in mind, how the heck do you read it to a young child without him/her seeing you loose it? Definitely NOT a bedtime story book.
This book is for a parent who wants to read something that deeply expresses how they feel about their children and then cry about it.
I prefer to let my child/grandchildren know how I feel without the melodrama (and potential associated psychological damage).
I gave 3 stars because the illustrations are true art.
love it.......2007-02-16
This is a love poem from parent to child. The poem lets the child know that the parent will always love them. No matter how old the child gets he will still be a child that is loved by his parents. There is a page where the parent is now a old lay and the son brings his children to visit. The illustrations show the grandchild gets the grandma's cane for her. This was my favorite part because my kids to this for MY grandmother each time we visit!
This captured what is in the heart of parents every where. Children grow up fast and we need to let them know how much they mean to us.
Yes It would make a great bed time story.
Beautiful images, sweet, yet sentimenal text.......2007-01-11
I love this book. The images are absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to have a print of the cover. And the poem inside is very sweet, sentimental. I teared up when reading it in the bookstore. I bought one for a baby shower gift and bought myself a copy as well.
Simple Book, Great Images.......2006-12-29
I ran across this book while shelving at my bookstore. The cover caught my attention. The paintings are beautiful.
And while the words are simple, the promise they carry is amazing. And the way the child grows through book is subtle and entertaining to the reader, if not the child being read to.
Makes me wish I had kids to read it to.

Barnyard Dance! Board Book by Sandra Boynton
Customer Reviews:
Another Great Sandra Boynton Book.......2007-05-28
My children love this book. It is a fun way to reinforce and teach your children what the barnyard animals are. You can actually "Clap your hands", "Stomp your feet" and act out most of the motions represented in the book. It can be hilarious! This book is fabulous! ENJOY!
Barnyard Dance.......2007-05-26
My family and I love this book. We have small grandchildren and we live on a farm, a perfect combination with which to enjoy this book. When the greater family gathers we love to get out the book, one of us reads it and the others do the Barnyard Dance! We pretend we're what ever the animals are that are mentioned and dance up a storm. The little ones are delighted to have us join them and we all have a good time through the wonderful imagination of Sandra Boynton. I frequently include this book as part of a baby gift explaining how our family uses it.
The Cutest Book..........2007-04-09
This book has great poetry and flow. I loved it so did my two year old twins.
A lot of fun!.......2007-03-28
My little boy loves this book and it is very interactive with clapping and stomping!
Great author!.......2007-01-26
As a teacher and a mom I have been through hundreds (if not more) children's books. Sandra Boynton is by far one of my favorites authors!. If you have young kids these books are for you. My 2 y/o daughter loves and has memorized all of her books! The only one I don't like is "Dogs" because it is annoying for me to read, but my daughter loves it anyway.
My favorites are
