Most Divurgent of the Chronicles.......2007-04-16
This third book in the Chronicles of Narnia stands out from the others in that it is the only one that doesn't star children of our world being magically transported to Narnia. The protagonist is a boy named Shasta who lives in Colormen across a vast desert from Narnia. Shasta finds that he is soon to be sold to a Calormene noble, and decides to run away and teams up with a talking Narnian warhorse named Bree who is decended of Narnian horses. The siblings high kings and queens from "Narnia" do make a guest appearance, now adults and fully integrated into the Narnian world. But this book is mostly concerned with the escalating tensions between Calormene and narnia and the adventures of a horse and his boy, as the title replies. Lewis creates an enchanting story with the classic ingredients of an epic wuest, with plenty of intriguing symbolism along the way, and plenty of help from the ever-watchful best-loved lion Aslan.

The book The Chronicles Of Narnia The Horse And His Boy is awesome. This story is about a horse and a boy want to be be free in narnia. If i could rate this book from a 1 to 10 i would rate it a 10 becuse the mane part of the story is to get to narnia. If i could reccomend this book i would because the whole story was suspenceful. The only part of the book i didnt like was when they met the other horse,i wish that it would have been a different kind of animal or mystical creature. Otherwise this book was fantastic!
The Horse and His Boy.......2007-03-05
I'm a sixth grader at Cornwall Central Middle school, and here's what I think of this book:
This book is about an orphaned boy named Shasta, who discovers he is not the son of an old, lowly fisherman. One night a rich merchant stays the night and decides to buy Shasta, so he runs away with the merchant's talking horse named Breehy-hinny-brinny-hoohy-hah (bree for short)to the far north. As the adventure continues Shasta and Bree begin to become good friends. A little later they join up with a girl named Aravis and her talking horse who also wants to runaway to the far north. Together they encounter many obstacles. You'll have to read the book to find out what happens.
This book is the third book in The Chronicles of Narnia. The series is written by C.S.Lewis and illustrated by Pauline Baynes. C.S.Lewis is one of my favorite authors. There are seven books in the whole series. Finally I give this book two thumbs up because I found it fun and exciting to read. I hope you will enjoy reading it too.
Horse and His Boy.......2007-03-01
"Will we make it?" That's what Shasta, an orphaned boy and a talking horse named Bree are hoping for when they head north for Narnia in C.S. Lewis' The Horse and His Boy. Shasta ia a slave boy that thinks his owner is the best person in the world until a rich merchant comes to buy Shasta! That night Arsheesh, his owner, agrees to sell Shasta and with that, Shasta ran to the stables to run-away. At the stables he met a talking horse, who the merchant bought without knowing it talked. After introducing themselves, they galloped to the north, Narnia.
I think C.S. Lewis wrote this to interest readers more in adventure books and fantasy. I would recommend this book to any fantasy or adventure lover. I've enjoyed this book, and I hope you will too.

Book Description
Billy was a little boy who "loved horses more than anything else in the world." Imagine how happy he was when he got his very own pony for his birthday! From that day on, Billy was seldom seen without his new friend, Blaze.
Riding through fields and woods, Billy and Blaze learned to trust and understand one another -- and to jump over fences and fallen trees with ease. They were a great team, but were they good enough to win the gleaming silver cup at the Mason Horse Show?
This is the first book in the classic Billy and Blaze series. Sensitive drawings and easy-to-read words capture the warmth and gentle understanding between a boy and his horse.

Just bought for my 50 yr old husband - .......2005-01-31
After all these years, my husband, John still talks about his love of this book. I just ordered the original Billy & Blaze in paperback (collectible) as a Valentine's gift for him. I can't wait to receive it and present it to him on our vacation. It's a 4th pressing of the original, but honestly - - I don't think he would care if it were the 104th. I believe we own our horses still to this day because of this book being in his childhood. How precious is that? Love you darling... Can't wait to see your face! Your K10
Hoofs and Wheels.......2004-04-27
While women generally ride for pleasure to feel the wind and the movement of the horse beneath, a boys ride is different in that it is the power and speed of the ride that are most dear to him in these chariots of fire, the roar of the engine, the hoofs and the noise of the wheels that inspire their thrill. Boys tend to drive either their horses or their cars to see the height of their power, and whether the beauty of black or the silver shine of white, the joy of the command lies in the skill of the rider and the knowledge of his horse, or his engine, a sight that most can appreciate, understand, and admire.

for fun and adventure.
The Billy and Blaze series is great fun. Young boys, even those not interested in horses, will love these books. My 7yo has never had an interest in horses (he thinks they smell bad) but he hangs on to every word of these adventurous stories.
A wonderful, wonderful set of stories..........2000-02-24
I read these books as a little kid... The illustrations are incredibly beautiful and lifelike, and the stories are equally enjoyable. Billy and Blaze's adventures would capture the heart and mind of any child -- or even adult! - with their emotional strength and superb literary quality. I can't recommend these books highly enough... every one of them.
A beautifully written and illustrated children's classic.......1999-07-10
All of the Billy & Blaze stories were among my favorites as a child; I'm so glad they are available again. The illustrations alone make these stories classic children's literature!

The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis, is one of the very few sets of books that should be read three times: in childhood, early adulthood, and late in life. In brief, four children travel repeatedly to a world in which they are far more than mere children and everything is far more than it seems. Richly told, populated with fascinating characters, perfectly realized in detail of world and pacing of plot, and profoundly allegorical, the story is infused throughout with the timeless issues of good and evil, faith and hope. This boxed set edition includes all seven volumes.

Collection includes all seven novels in the series.
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful Books.......2007-06-26
This set is a GREAT value, costing over 50.00 at Barnes and Noble. Beautiful books, great buy.
Welcome to a wonderful imagination that will capture yours!.......2007-06-26
It's hard to know where to start in the explanation of this classic work by one of the greatest Christian authors C.S. Lewis. The Chronicles of Narnia is a fictional work, a tale of fantasy and exploration of four youths into the land of Narnia. Lewis and Tolkien were contemporaries and friends - and many people are now familiar with Tolkien's work The Lord of the Rings. Hollywood is about to introduce America to the most famous of the 7 books in the Narnia collection - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (which is actually the second book in the series) with a movie by the same name to be released in December 2005.
Since the books read like a fairy tale, they are perfect for a young reader - I read them for the first time probably in sixth or seventh grade - and then reread them later in high school. I look forward to reading them to my own children sometime in elementary school. The spiritual concepts are profound and deep, but even young children will be fascinated by the story of heroes and witches and four young children lost in this fantasy land.
Be careful when purchasing The Chronicles of Narnia - the books are sold both individually and as a boxed set...you might think you're ordering the entire set, but only end up with one book. The entire set is seven books - Book 1: The Magician's Nephew; Book 2: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; Book 3: The Horse and His Boy; Book 4: Prince Caspian; Book 5: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; Book 6: The Silver Chair; Book 7: The Last Battle. I have a boxed set published by HarperTrophy and it is excellent. [...].
Discovering a timeless story.......2007-06-26
I saw the "Lion and the Wardrobe" in the movies and really enjoyed it.
Although I had read other books of C.S.Lewis this series I had not read.
Having bought the set for my neice, who already had it and hating to take it back for a refund; i kept the books and decided to read them myself.
I wished I had discovered them when i was a child because surely I would have treasured them. As an adult they will sit next to my "Hobbit" series for sure.
A fun read for any age.......2007-06-17
Seriosuly, there are over 900 reivews of this set already so I doubt you really need me to break it down for you again. I read parts of the series a long time. I kept meaning to read the whole series but never got around to it. I picked up the boxed set, started at book one, and had a great time going through the books. I am 28 and still found these books very enjoyable.
Timeless collection of classics!.......2007-06-08
What can I say about these books? The Chronicles of Narnia is such a classic collection. I loved the books as a child and I still love them all.
C.S. Lewis is an amazing author and The Chronicles of Narnia is truly a magnificent work of art and imagination. He has made a timeless story that children and adults alike will enjoy forever.
When I read the stories again as an adult I was especially impressed by the ending in The Last Battle. I would definately recommend that you make sure you read all the books as every one is a masterpiece in itself.
If you love these books then I would also recommend Candara's Gift (Accounts of Candara) by the new author Jasper Cooper. It has much of the same original qualities of fantasy and imagination.
For adults or young adults I would strongly recommend reading The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. An amazingly interesting and imaginative short story. This again shows off Lewis' talent for capturing the readers interest and delving into Christianity in the captivating way that only Lewis can.
Customer Reviews:
This book was quite intresting.......2007-05-23
During the Golden Days age of Narnia when Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy were the rulers of Narnia. A cabreme fisherman named Shasta takes his master's horse Bree. Shaston finds out Bree can talk, and he is not the son of Arsheesh. He meets a girl with another talking horse and rides into Archenland to find who he really is. I thought this book was very interesting and exciting. I read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe which is the prologue to this book. This book is just as good as the 2nd. If you like Fantasy then this would be an excellent book for you because the land of Narnia is full of talking animals and human/goats! The battle at the Archenland Castle was filled with killing, surprises, and exciting outcomes. If you read this book it would definitely be worth it!
