Mind saver.......2007-07-07
I ordered this disk during my first deployment to Mosul,Iraq, it set me on a mental highway away from chaos and depression. Erykah Badu has always delivered the mental elixirs and she continues the mix with this CD. Her voice is trancing and the bass, samples and overall sound production is of the best quality. This Worldwide Underground CD strokes the stem of consciousness enabling you to relax and emerce into the fabric of the underground.

I really had not paid this cd any attention until one day,at a friend pool party it was playing.From listerning to it then I knew i like it this a good cd.

When this CD came out I have to admit I was kind of expecting what we've heard from her before. However, once I heard it I found myself bumping to most of the songs on the album. Very good.
Ms Badu; the High Priestess of neo-soul.......2007-03-29
I've been a fan of Ms Badu since day one and I'd always wanted to get this CD. I just never seemed to get around to it. But then I saw her perform "Back In The Day (Puff)" on stage on Dave Chappelle's Block Party (Unrated Widescreen Edition) and I knew the time had come.
It's a brilliant set with Erykah doing what she does best, presiding over the neo-soul and hip-hop beats like some kind of musical & spiritual high priestess. The first couple of tunes (including the wonderful "Intro - World Keeps Turnin'"); "Bump It", "Back In The Day (Puff)", "I Want You", "Woo", "The Grind" and "Danger" are simply flawless, in my opinion.
Things get rather ropey towards the end though, and her version of "Think Twice" is not even half as good as the Donald Byrd original. I've always believed that if you're going to do a cover, you need to bring something new (if not better) to the party or there's really no point bothering. And "Love Of My Life Worldwide" with Angie Stone and Queen Latifah is just awful.
Still, she ends on a positive note. "Outro - World Keeps Turnin'" is just a reprise of the intro but it's so good it's worth hearing twice. Besides, it does sound like the latter part of the album was recorded live in front of an audience - but I could be wrong - in which case, aforementioned ropiness is well and truly forgiven.
Cool CD, all in all. I like it. I read somewhere that this is supposed to be an EP and not a full album. It sounds like a full album to me and a pretty decent one at that.
She's due a new one anytime soon, surely?

this is probably the best mystic journeymen cd ever. the only thing is that it has too many skits, the skits are tight no doubt but people wanna listen to more tracks. the sickest track on this has to be right now produced by grouch it has one of the illest beats i've ever heard also the firefly rebellion is a sick track. cop this cd. eventhough it only has a few actual songs, it still sick...

This is, after all, an EP/mix tape affair, not a full-length album, showcasing recording from their world tour....but it's still the Mystik Journeymen, which means it's some of the most innovative and enjoyable stuff on the market....support the underground and do yourself a favor, buy this album and The Black Sands Ov Eternia. Peace.

Don't be mistaken, this 17 track record is not an album! It's an EP! Out of the 17 tracks, only 7 are real songs (they are good songs however). The remaining 10 tracks are all interludes and a few instrumentals. If you want a more complete album by the MJ's, check out their newest LP "Black Sands Ov Eternia".
Hip Hip in its purest form.......1999-07-22
I won't front and say that I've been a fan of MJM since the beginning, but ever since I heard these 2 fellas bless the mic a year ago, I've been hooked. MJM definatley won't appeal to everyone. Only fans of underground hip hop will like this album. The lyrics are conscious and meaningful and the beats are stripped down, yet uniquely absract. While "Worldwide Underground" is arguably not their best album, it still will please 'backpackers' and nearly anyone with an ear for real hip-hop. My only real complaint about the album is all of the interludes included. I've never liked interludes on an album (except for De La Soul's), so I'm not saying that MJM's interludes are wack, I'm saying interludes are wack in general and usually end up as filler, or in other words, a reason for me to keep my finger hovering over the fast forward button.

Another great selection of tracks from GP. I wish this was a 2 cd compilation like the first volume. It is a little pricey for 1 cd, having paid the same amount for vol. 1 and 2. Nevertheless Gilles never fails to impress. He has an awesome musical taste and you can always look forward to surprises(gems) on his CD's.

Another Classic Chi-town House Mixes.......2004-06-01
This House C.D. besides Bad Boy Bill bangin the box vol.1 95' is the best C.D. of classic house music ever. I lost this C.D. back in 1999 and I never could find it until I came across Amazon. Even though it's 2004, I know I could bring this C.D. to a party and it would still bump like the old days. Those who still love House music will definetly appreciate this mix.
