Customer Reviews:
Funny stuff!!!.......2007-05-11
Dane Cook is by far one of the funniest story-telling comics around. His style is original. A wild imagination combined with an ability to relate with thoughts most people keep to themselves. My girlfriend and I bought this CD while driving through Upstate NY, people where staring at us we were laughing so much. Highly recommended!
Totally overrated.......2007-04-02
I don't know what people see in dane cook, he's just not funny. Most of his jokes are something that a 4 yr old could come up with or they just don't make any sense at all. I'm sure dane might be a nice guy, but he sucks as a comedian.
A Decent Comedy Album.......2007-04-01
I've been listening to Dane Cook from back in the days when you could download music illegally on Napster! I've watched this guy rise through the ranks and I must say that he has fallen off a little. I much prefer his older material to the jokes on this CD, but perhaps I'm being a bit to critical. This CD does have its memorable jokes and its forgettable ones. Sometimes it seemed like there was filler material on here. Those who have listened to Dane Cook are extremely polarized, they either love his delivery or hate it. I happen to like it so i think this CD is still very good. In my opinion, the comedian with the best delivery is Daniel Tosh. His non-sequeters and random remarks are extremely hilarious.
Commercial Garbage.......2007-03-16
Dane Cook is a master at self promotion. This explains why his core audience is 12-25 year olds, a group known for being susceptible to marketing, especially when the marketing is done by a wildly gyrating, occasionally amusing stand up comic who 'speaks their language'. I'm truly astounded at all the people on Amazon and elsewhere who call Dane Cook "Brilliant" or "Original". The man has blatantly stolen from half a dozen comics over the years, a charge he repeatedly has denied. I can understand liking him if you're into myspace and don't really care about messy stuff like current events or politics, or dont really like "the dead guy" (bill hicks) or "the old guy" (george carlin) but this is low, low comedic fare for anyone who has heard GOOD comedy.
SOOOO FUNNY!!!.......2007-03-08
I loved this CD/DVD combo. Dane Cook is absolutely hysterical. He will have you rolling around laughing. This is defiantly a great gift for the comedy lover in the family. SU-FI!!!!!!!!!!

The ugly, clumsy and brutish hardcore cousin to "Reign in Blood".......2006-12-21
Ok, why compare it at all to "Reign in Blood?" I'll tell you why...Carnivore's second album "Retaliation" was released on the heels of Slayer's undisputed classic in 1987. while the material here sounds nothing like Slayer's razor sharp, hyper speed riffage, it equals its brutality in the way it just GETS TO YOU! Carnivore have always meddled in the genre once known as "crossover" which basically marries hardcore with thrash metal. And even though Carnivore was affiliated with the NYHC ( New York Hardcore ) scene they tended to be more metal sounding but not just any metal, POUNDING, LOUD, HEAD SPLITTINGLY LOVELY BROOKLYN NOO YAWK METAL! I can honestly say that when I first heard this album, shortly after it came out, it was the only album up until that point and probably still that gave me the same feeling that "Reign" did. Again, this is more stripped down and hardcore sounding but nobody and I mean NOBODY can equal the pain and anguish in Pete Steeles's voice, not even Tom Araya kiddies. I recall seeing this on cassette in NY's J&R Records and just looking at the cover art, YES this I must own! I didn't know squat about Carnivore at that time, having never heard of them or their music. But truly, it was one of the best blind choices I ever made in buying music! Taking it home and being obliterated with "Jack Daniels and Pizza" is a thrill I will always remember! Seeing the re-united Carnivore this year was awesome( R.I.P. Keith Alexander aka Bonnano ) but nothing will ever come close to 1986-88 era Carnivore. They epitomized anger and release to me, they still rock, but seriously will Slayer, Sepultura, or Bad Brains ever retain their heyday glory? I higly doubt that. And again, they were not officially "NYHC" but this album just Doc Marten stomps over just about every NYHC album, with the exception of "The Age of Quarrel" by Cro-Mags and maybe "Victim in Pain" by Agnsotic Front. There is not a bad cut on this album, and I can recommend this to die hard fans of Slayer, Agnostic Front, Biohazard (early), Sepultura, Napalm Death and Cro Mags. chances are, if you listen to any of those bands this is already in your collection. but if not, trust me, it gets no harder, no angrier no BETTER than this. I can truly use the saying "they don't make em like this anymore!!" I haven't been interested in "metal" in over 12 years at least. Why? It all SUCKS!! Metal today, don't get me started! I'd like to see 6'6 Pete Steele slap up any poser who thinks they "shred." And of course, Carnivore went on to become the excellant Type O Negative who still record and gig, but those were the days!!! Carnivore's 1985 self titled debut is amazing as well, but for the real Brooklyn meat and potatoes don't think Biohazard, think a Wilkensen razor, I think!! So all in all, though I abhor labels, this must go in the top 10 metal albums of all time...and that includes the classics from Black
Sabbath, Metallica and Slayer!!!
there was life before Type O..........2006-04-21
this was Pete Steele's band in the 80's before Type O Negative were around. as a matter of fact, their first album Slow Deep And Hard unofficially, was actually supposed to be Carnivore's third album. anyway, Carnivore only put out 2 albums. their self-titled debut was ok, but this 2nd album was far superior. in fact, I think Retaliation is probably one of the most under-rated albums that came out on Roadrunner records in the late-80's. pure early crossover NYC thrash/punk. its right up there with albums by The Accused, Crumbsuckers, DRI, and Gang Green.
A Different kind of Metal.......2006-03-14
This is a very unique album. It will not appeal to all. It has a very different "metal" sound, slightly on the thrash side, with a touch of goth. It is a shame that Peter Steele did not continue with this project. His type o negative work is good, just not as cool as this stuff.
hidden treasure, 1987 crossover!.......2006-03-10
whoa, blast from the past! i remember being a kid hanging out with these skaters back in 1988 and they would blast S.M.D. on their boombox while skating around and causing trouble. I remember this vividly. Elderly couple walks up to us. "Turn that radio off! Move it out of our way!" Skater presses stop on the boom box, moves the boom box an inch. turns volume to full, presses play, blasts music, and gives the elderly couple the finger and laughs.
well then, this music is rebelious, in yer face, funny, and disturbing. it kinda is a Suicidal Tendencies for the east coast but a lot (i mean a lot) more crass and obnoxious!
This is a pretty important album for thrash. It has a heavy NYC Hardcore influence (Nuclear Assualt Handle w/Care, Agnostic Front, Biohazard) and its just great. Type O was horrible but this, pure classic crass metal. Get it, laugh at it, crack some skulls with it!
Maybe not as good as the first..but still.........2006-01-27
Yeah I think I like the first CARNIVORE a little better, MORE DOOM!!
But this is still no slouch..infact you could say this is THE hardcore and or CROSS OVER album ,make's D.R.I. sound like madona!!
The lyric's are funny because..well hey they all came true, which is why you may be a tad worried..because the WORLD may end as well soon!!
JESUS HITLER..man they are all here!!!
SING ALONG to them naughty wordzz my brotherzz!!! enjoy it while ya can!!

Daz at his finest.......2007-07-09
I rememeber when this album came out I had to get it(you see back then you could guarantee that any album off Deathrow was going to be great). I wasnt dissapointed and I still think that Daz is terribly underrated as a producer. The album has a slew of guest features but dont think that only the songs with guest spots are good. Great solo joints like Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back and In California proved you wrong. Kurupt and Daz hammer out DPG classic joints like It's Going Down and Our Daily Bread(back when Kurupt was still spittin'). B-Legit joins in on the smooth Playa Partners and Snoop makes his present felt on O.G. 2pac(RIP), Kurupt and The Outlawz join in on the overlooked gem Initiated. Too Short joins in on the fun in It Might Sound Crazy and Gang Bangin A** Criminal(which feature Tha Gang, Kurupt and Technique) is the hardest song on the album. This album is not without its flaws. Baby Mama Drama is hard on the ears and Only For U is a forced love joint which features horrific singing from Val Young. Thank God For My Life is another skippable track. After these three the rest of the album is smooth sailing. Bottom Line: Daz Dillinger's Retaliation, Revenge And Get Back is a west coast gem that should be in every fan of west coast rap's collection. It's one of the few great albums from Deathrow that wasnt made by Tupac. Daz was still sharp with the flow, the production(with the exception of three songs) was on point and the guest appearances were on fire too. Standout Tracks: GANG BANGIN A** CRIMINAL, PLAYA PARTNERS, IT MIGHT SOUND CRAZY, OUR DAILY BREAD, INITIATED, RETALIATION REVENGE AND GET BACK, O.G., IN CALIFORNIA, OH NO and THE ULTIMATE COME UP.
3.5 stars.......2006-10-01
Daz's debut solo is and average release. it has its moments and its drawbacks. i like he keeps it around the dogg pound vibe and the lyrics are okay. Production is average and the guest are good. it worth checking out and giving it a good listen to.
rating B
3.5 stars for Daz Dillenger's first solo spot..............2006-09-22
This joint was released after Death Row was dismantled and everyone went their seperate ways. Daz was the only recognizable survivor of the Death Row dynasty left. So obvious the results of this joint is mixed. My personal favorite cut on here is "It might sound crazy" with Nate Dogg on the hook.
Daz Puts It Down For The LBC On This Joint!.......2006-09-18
Retaliation Revenge And Get Back comes in early 1998, most definitely not at the height of the G-Funk era, but of course, the album has the feel of it. The beats are bangin from start to finish, with a hungry Daz killing the mic with his killa flows. Daz is both a rapper and producer, both he does extremely well. The best joint is "O.G." where he, Snoop and Nate Dogg unite and bring that mobbin Death Row style they all brought years earlier, over a smooth, both laid back, yet mobbin' beat that defines the LBC sound! "Baby Mama Drama" is a serious analysis on how some fathers get stiffed by their baby mamas, even when they are there for their kids and provide for them, over a laid back G-Funk beat. "Gang Bangin A-- Criminal" is another classic. After a long intro, the song rolls on with a hard knock mobbin' beat and serious flows from Daz, and a whole gang of his ESLB cuddies like Bad Azz, Tray Deee, and many more. Daz puts it down for Cali, on his classic anthem, "In California," over one of those hot lowrider beats, a definite West Coast anthem. There is much much more to offer through the rest of the album. Definitely a must add for your G-Funk and gangsta rap collection.
Dat Nigga Daz is Back!!.......2006-03-31
SUPERB...
Stylish
and concrete
A terrific album here in Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back.
I bought the CD on release date back in 1998.... why am I just now writing about it? I still bust out this album and listen to it to this day!
One has to question why Daz would attempt this album. You're the only star remaining on Death Row Records for the time. You're the head of the label operations. No Limit is stealing the show! There's clearly no hope for a West Coast attempt.....
That's what's so impressive about this album. A strong delivery from Daz Dillinger, whom still pulls out the grey and blue theme- with or without a Dogg Pound label on the album. Kurupt's presense is heavily felt through out and even opens the album.
1. INTRO- Mean, rough production bonds the likes of Kurupt and Tray Dee to present the toughness of The Gang.
3. PLAYA PARTNA- A great track here as B-Legit sprays some slanguage in with a nice Bass guitar rythme.
4. IT MIGHT SOUND CRAZY- Excellent production, cavi and soulful. Appropriately features Too $hort to add Pimpish flavor amongst a "player" track.
5. OUR DAILY BREED- Sequel to track from "Dogg Food" album. Added beats keep this in the winning category as delivery is even stronger in some parts by The Dogg Pound.
6. IN CALIFORNIA- Upbeat, aggressive and street friendly! Lady V adds immensely to the chorus! A stand out single and props to Soopafly on the nice beat here!
7. INITIATED- Album highlight here!! 2pac is featured along with The Outlawz.... A stout performance by all and a smooth line of production here. Nothing animated but bold.
10. O.G.- Excellent tune with Death Row originals Snoop & Nate Dogg. Song easily has "Chronic" days production! Fluent in street issues and drama. Nate steels the show!
13. RIDIN HIGH- W.C. is the partner in crime here. Great casting for the two as the deliver is strong! Jumpin beat with funky, jazzin piano beats that hyber this tune up.
Just to name the stand outs here, the remaining tracks are achieving as well in their own individual ways. Very impressive release for "Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back" as it debuted at number 9 on the Billboards and peaked the West back in for a while.
Stands out in any collection as this album covers so many issues and brings out the Westcoast talent at the same time. Dominating on all aspects. Each song destinctive and critical to the overall aspect. Death Row's Last real winner...
This is clearly Daz Dillinger's best effort to date. Perhaps every now and again it wouldn't hurt for Daz to go back and listen to it as his latest projects are for label income only.
Hopefully the new DPGC reunion album with have as strong of a delivery as this production!!

Sadly Overlooked.......2007-07-20
Aynsley Dunbar had a great little blues band going here in the late sixties. This I believe is their debut album, and it contains some of the best British blues ever recorded. Singer Victor Brox went on to greater fame as he procured one of the lead roles--Judas Iscariot?--in Jesus Christ Superstar, and of course drummer Dunbar himself shook off the blues and made megamillions in Journey. High points are Whiskey Head Woman and Double Lovin, the latter which MUST feature the legendary Peter Green, England's best ever blues guitarist. If it's not him it's someone whose done a remarkable job of ripping him off. Those two cuts are worth the price alone, but there are many others to enjoy. A landmark recording in British blues history.
I'd have given it five stars, but I only give five stars to the most stupifyingly phenomenal stuff, you know, the things which have the power to change your life.

Great Music from the talented Aynsley Dunbar.......2002-09-03
This album is incredible. Traditional blues rock n' roll, with the incredible back-beat of it's leader the famed Aynsley Dunbar, who when on to work with David Bowie, Whitesnake, Lou Reed, Journey, UFO, and hundreds of others. He has the magic touch when it comes to putting music out, and this early recording in his career clearly shows why he went on to become the giant in the business he is today. Victor Brox on Vocals, Alex Dmochowski on bass, and John Moorshead on guitar are some of the best players of their time. If you like traditional rock n' roll blues, you will not be disappointed with this album.
Cheers, Alan

Poor.......2003-03-13
This album initiated keak da sneaks fall off. It's his firts album with his current label and it is 100 percent garbage. None of the beats are characteristic of Keak's old stuff, they all sound like bootleg neptunes productions. The only good song on the album is the last track "Life Ain't Playin With You" featuring a gospel Agerman. Like Bart's Block Repot, Retaliation is filled with bunch of horrible guest appearences. I love Keak and I love 3x Krazy, but the lyrics, beats and concepts are nothing compared to old school Keak. I wouldent pay $... to get a burned copy of this failure of an album.
Retaliation, is one of tha best cd's in tha rap game........2002-02-20
I think the cd retaliation is one of the best cd's in the rap game becouse, it features, c-bo, the mob figaz, and many more rappers that are good. keak the sneak is a gangsta rapper that raps about, money, cars, guns, girlz, and revenge. if you like rappers such as c-bo, mog figaz, killa tay, kurupt, x-raided, and mac dre, ya i think you will like this cd as much as you like your other cd's.
