They're back. In 1992, the Pharcyde emerged from the shiny debris of the West Coast G-funk era, and their style, presence, and originality gave birth to the left-of-center movement that's currently thriving in Cali, with acts such as Black Eyed Peas and Zion I. Though Fatlip's no longer a member, the three-man unit has a new album to remind the world that they're not dead yet. Their trademark lyrical and sonic silliness remains intact, but this time their sound isn't as erratic or zany as past projects. It's more bluesy, down-to-earth, or even somber. They still come with that laid-back boom bap, but they're older now, and have more mature concerns. As the title suggests, there are no special gimmicks or multiple personalities here: tricks are for kids. "Frontline," produced by Showbiz, finds them meditating on the melancholic aspects of life. Black Thought of the Roots lends his organic vocals on "Network." The J-Swift remix of "Trust" is the first single and most upbeat track on the album (fly vid, too). It's reminiscent of the hits Pharcyde are known for, such as "Passin' Me By," "Runnin'," and "Drop." They haven't lost the magic touch. --Roosevelt Franklin

5 out of 5 stars Teaching Peace.......2007-05-07

Excellent for use at home. Outstanding for classroom climate in younger grades.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful, Wonderful!.......2007-01-13

I've been giving this(first a cassette, now a cd) as a gift to children since it first appeared in the mid-80's. It's as fresh and wonderful today as it was then. I know many children who grew up knowing the words to all the songs and internalizing the wonderful messages they impart.Check out other cd's by Red.

5 out of 5 stars Grandchildren Love It.......2007-01-05

This CD provides lively songs that offer kids a positive approach to life and problem solving and are also great fun to dance to. My grandchildren really enjoy it!

4 out of 5 stars Far from the well-known Pharcyde.......2007-03-21

Ok Ok. I read the reviews below and I can agree somewhat for all of you who enjoy the classic Pharcyde with Fatlip. I enjoy it too... But, obviously this group has matured with time. This album doesn't have tracks that Bizarre Ride offers or Labcabincalifornia. In songs like "Trust", "Networks", and "Misery" they rhyme about what they have learned over the years. If you are a true Pharcyde fan you will appreciate this album as they have gone from boys to men.

1 out of 5 stars I just can't bear it..........2005-11-18

'Network' (feat. Black Thought) is somewhat ok.

With that said, the rest of this album is a heaping pile of rancid trash.

These cats really need some help. With Fatlip out of the picture, there is no charisma left in the group. As for the production... *eerp*... *blurp*... ...sorry... I almost threw up...

5 out of 5 stars Go Buy Some Chronic.......2004-03-18

This is one of the best dope albums of all time. Anyone who doesn't like this album smokes schwag.

2 out of 5 stars Don't "trust" the pharcyde.......2004-02-18

The Pharcyde without Fatlip is like ATCQ without Phife, it just cant work. The cd was alright though, not terrible. Trust is definetely the best song on the cd. Network is good too, and frontline is ok. The rest just uhh, sucked. Imani is a good MC and all, but I would recomend saving your $ and getting something else unless you are a hardcore pharcyde fan.

2 out of 5 stars WHAT HAPPENED???.......2003-09-18

Pharcyde's first two CD's are nice. This one isn't. Send FatLip to rehab and bring him back fast. Without him the group is sub-par.

This orginally came out in 1998. THe album is under the same name: Lay Lo -Simple and Plain. It has a white cover. Lay Lo is a group consisting of Max Minelli and his cousin, JVon. Both were memebers of the Concentration Camp, a group released under C-Loc Records, then Camp Life Ent. Good to have in your collection if you are a fan of their music. Happy Perez does the beats. (Note: Lil Boosie fans, He debuted on the Camp III album on this label.)

        Product Description

Hidden In Plain Sight refers to The Quartertones proximity to their audience and how they have become somewhat ‘blurred’ in the eyes of the public. Like the tree outside a house you pass everyday, things gets lost in the bustle of daily activity. Hidden In Plain Sight is an aural statement that the band cannot be concealed any longer. Strong composition, blazing solos and unwavering focus on sound and mood make this album solid from start to .nish. From the Trip-Hop ambience of Purple (Lifted), to the ferocious energy of Caffeine, this expert mix of Hip-Hop/Soul vocals and instrumental Jazz/Funk will satisfy the most demanding music connoisseur.
