About the Artist
Claude E. Bevier, a.k.a. Big Shadow, was born in Wayne, Michigan, the son of Claude E. Smith, Sr. and Sharon Bevier. Shadow grew up in southeastern Michigan, in both Detroit and Belleville.

Shadow attended numerous high schools in the southeastern Michigan area, including Detroit’s Cooley High, Redford High, Henry Ford, Western, and Lincoln in Belleville.

Shadow joined a street gang in Southwestern Detroit, when he was 17. His life in the gang revolved around drugs and violence, and included armed confrontations with drug dealers. As a result, Shadow spent a considerable amount of time in jail, and was generally on probation when he was not behind bars.

Something in Shadow’s spirit knew that there was something better for him than life on the streets. Shadow has a clear memory of an encounter with a Puerto Rican street preacher, who gave him a tract about the former gang member and evangelist Nicki Cruz, while he was on his way to a gang meeting. This was an early echo of the encounter with Jesus Christ that was Shadow’s destiny.

Shadow left the gang and moved to Northern Michigan.

Shadow was radically saved in 1991 at Cross, Fire, and Love Ministries at an evening service, Pastor Lyle Juliette presiding, in Cheboygan, Michigan. Over the course of the next several years, God has called Shadow to ministry through what might be best described as progressive revelation of His will and His heart.

Since his salvation, Shadow has been active in ministry, including prison ministry, music ministry, and youth ministry. In 1993, Shadow joined Christian Life Center Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Pastor Henry Healey presiding.

Product Description
The CD single “If Ya’ll Feel Me” is from Big Shadow’s forthcoming new album, “Nommo,” an African word that means “words have power.”

Big Shadow is a former gang member who had a “Road to Damascus” experience and gave his life to Christ. He has since developed an active youth and music ministry under the leadership of Pastor Henry Healey of Christian Life Center Church in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Shadow’s core message is based on the critical importance of kids hearing from God the Truth about who they are and believing what God says about them. “Image is a prelude to dominion,” says Shadow. “Hip Hop music is being used by the enemy to blind the minds of our youth today, to blind them from seeing who they really are...which is the image of God.”

Adds Shadow: “Sex, violence, drugs, anger...all of these things are repercussions of things that are coming out of the mouths of the Hip Hop industry.”

Solidly biblically-based, Shadow is on a mission to obliterate the image that the world is trying to sell to kids, by putting up the mirror of God’s Word to the youth of America so that they might see who they really are.
