Customer Reviews:
Vol. 5 comes correct .......2005-10-25
Cash money, Jadakiss, Xzibit, DMX, Trick D. and Snoop represented to the fullest. Stay away from vol. 2 and 4. 3 and 1 was alright to, but 5 presents "hip hop" like the title said.
HH5, good CD but a weak one in the series.......2004-12-19
1. We Right Here - DMX A+ An awesome song and one of my favs!
2. I'm A Thug - Trick Daddy C+ I don't like this song that much, and I don't like Trick Daddy much either.
3. I'm Real (Murder Remix) - Ja Rule Feat. Jennifer Lopez C+ Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Too bad the remix ruines it.
4. Let Me Blow Ya Mind - Eve Feat. Gwen Stefani A+ I love Eve and Gwen. Two great artists + A rockin' beat and great lyrics = good song
5. Area Codes - Ludacris feat. Nate Dogg B- One of my least favs of Luda, but still an ok listen.
6. Bad Boy For Life - P. Diddy, Black Rob and Mark Curry D- I hate this song. It has absolutely no point whatsoever!
7. Ride Wit Me - Nelly feat. City Spud A I love this song! Love it! Love it! Love it!
8. Purple Hills - D-12 B+ Don't like D12 much but I have to admit I like this song.
9. Bang Ta Dis - Benzino F No! Benzino can't rap!
10. Oh Yeah - Foxy Brown feat. Spragga Benz C+ It's an ok track. Don't like Foxy much.
11. Front 2 Back - Xzibit A+ Hot track!
12. Get UR Freak On - Missy "Misdemeanor" Elloitt A- Good, but don't overplay or it gets irritating.
13. Project Chick - Cash Money Millionaires feat. Big Tymers, Lil' Wayne & Juvenile D- same as #6
14. Put Ya Hands Up - Jadakiss B+ I'm not a big fan of Jadakiss, but this song is good.
15. Get F**ked Up - Iconz C- I don't like this song much.
16. So Fresh, So Clean (Remix) - Outkast feat. Snoop Dogg and Sleepy Brown A+ This is the best of the CD! I love Outkast and Snoop. Awesome!
Overall Grade - C+ This CD has it's hits and misses, but overall it comes out refreshing. Though, another weak one.
A Compilation of Good and Overplayed Hits.......2002-05-16
Despite of the title, I think that this is a must-have CD for all those who doubt to buy their fave rapper's new album if it is worthy or not.
Anyway, this is still a cool compilation because it's got DMX, Ludacris, Outkast, Missy, Xzibit, Trick Daddy, etc..However, I've had enough of tracks 3, 4, 6, 7 & 8- I can't stand Nelly's "Ride With Me" anymore ("Batterup" or "Number 1"'re better", and so with P. Diddy, the "I'm Real" remix, "Let me Blow Ya Mind"- (for months, I've been hearing that tan....tan...tantantantantantan...tan...tan... tune from the intro) and D-12's "Purple Hills"...Only 5 overplayed hits, still a good album!
Great Bounce For Your Buck.......2002-01-18
I love this because it has a great collection of Hip-Hop that you probably wouldn't get anywhere else.
DMX, Ja Rule, Snoop, D12, Xibit..it's all here. Track 2 "I'm a Thug" by Trick Daddy is phenomenal!! Never heard it beofre but it's my favorite track.
The ever popular "Get Your Freak On" is great and a bit of a different remix.
The biggest surprise for me was the D12 track "Purple Pills", I didn't pay close attention to it before but now that I got a good listen...amazing!!
I don't think you will find a more ecclectic mix of Hip-Hop other than this. It has a couple of borderline pop songs but overall, great!
My only complaint, P-Diddy, but I knew it was there going in to the buy so I guess one [bad] song isn't so bad.
For a silly white grrrl, this CD makes me BOUNCE!
Perfect party music for New Year's and beyond!.......2001-12-21
This is a compilation not to be missed, and should be on many rap fans' Christmas lists. All the big hits from this summer are here, especially the ones that weren't released as singles- now I have them all on one collection! I work in a music store, so I not only get the chance to hear the new releases, but I also know what's hot with fans (not to mention, find out ahead of time what sucks- and this doesn't!!!).
My only complaint about this CD is that they didn't include more songs from soundtracks (like Nelly's "#1" from Training Day should have made it instead of the older "Ride Wit Me" which is on other collections like Now 7!) I would have liked to have seen more current-airplay songs unique to this collection; Totally Hits 2001 I got a few months back and it has 3 of the songs that's on this cd. They're still good songs, but they could have chosen more current hits to include(I would have suggested "One Minute Man" by Missy and Ludacris rather than "Get Ur Freak On").
The presence of older smashes is what gives this CD a 4-star instead of a 5-star. Otherwise, it's the best party CD this year in my opinion. Move that mouse! Click on it and order it! You won't be sorry. It's been in constant rotation at our store and in my CD player, and it's filled with top singles guaranteed to keep it in your CD player too!
