Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars very good!.......2004-02-13

comical, buttersmooth flow, on point, great production, nice tight rhymes, more hits than misses. A good listen and when you know his cell, it makes it that much better...

I really enjoyed this cd and definately recommend it, the production is DEFINATELY a step up from Kutmasta Kurt from that Master of Illusion steez.

peace,

5 out of 5 stars Real MC. Real DJ. Real good........2002-10-21

Motion Man's style, summed up, cannot be summed up. His rhymes go off-beat, straight-up, humorous, metaphorical, and/or b-boy. I mean this guy is not really a story-teller, but if you want stories, then turn off the CD player, go outside and make some. He's more of the abstract Kool Keith school. At first, many of the songs sound similar... a three or four-note oscillation, measured stanzas, Motion shooting off the top of his head... and therein lies the beauty. The more you listen to this CD, the more the lyrics and Kutmasta Kurt's polished and IMPOSSIBLY musical beats creep inside of your skull, until you find yourself humming them inappropriately to your parents, co-workers, pets, strangers, etc. You also realize how entirely calculated this album is: a near-perfect slice of self-aware underground-style rap for people who enjoy wordplay, bravado and life in general. Even the guest appearances (Biz Markie, E-40, Kool Keith) are few and well-selected. If these guys drop nothing else for the rest of their lives, with this and Masters of Illusion they have already done more than 95% of the acts out there ever will. p.s. - Buy this.

4 out of 5 stars The Amazing Motion Man.......2002-10-20

Motion Man does it again. The tracks are high quality brillant rhymes. If you like trashy radio rap avoid this album but if you like some real [stuff] then this is for you. If you've heard motion man then you should've already ordered this. If you haven't heard motion man then this will get you into him. Exceptionally incredible tracks include Hold Up (feat. Biz Markie), call da national guard, and the hidden track... Enjoy.
Only 4 stars due to lame skit tracks that interrupt the vibe.

3 out of 5 stars Could've been better!.......2002-09-10

I've waited a long time for this CD to drop, ever since I heard Motion catch wreck on several Kool Keith albums. Now that I've heard the album I must say I'm a bit dissapointed. This dissapointment hasn't got anything to do with Motion, cause he drops some tight lyrics and flows on his first solo-project. It's his producer KutMaster Kurt that somehow slips up. Don't get me wrong he drops some ill beats on this project, actually all the beats are dope and fit Motion's style well. The problem is Kurt's sound gets too repetetive, because all the beats are produced in the same style (with exception of "call the national guard pt.2" and the hidden tack "come hack this", wich I think are the best tracks) and the album starts too get boring with it's large amount of tracks. If you like albums like GangStarr's "Moment of Truth" and Non Phixion's "The Future Is Now" I recommend this one to you, but if you're expecting this album to sound like anything from Kool Keith, don't buy it.
