I gave this a bad review because it's a) not written or published by Gwen Stefani as Amazon claims, and b) not music. It's a CD filled with interviews and that's it. The interviews are pretty interesting but nothing you can't find at a good Gwen Stefani fan site, and nothing that is worth more than a couple bucks.

OK First of All IM NOT A KID I'm just to lazy to sign in. Anyway I was in NY this past weekend and I saw someone who was selling CD;s on the street that WERE NOT Bootlef [Amazing To See In NY] anyway they were used CD's ranging from $8-$3 per disc. Anyway since I'm a DJ i decided to buy a s**T load of music and i saw this CD for $3 so i grabbed it assuming it was a new release or old music but I was sure people would wanna hear it so when i got into my car i tested the discs out [They were used so you can't be sure] and this is just interviews and info about her so i personally dont like it, my girl somewhat enjoy's it but she of course prefers her music if your a gwen fan get it but if you just want music... Don't Waste Your Time. It's actually a pretty good biography i fyou like that kinda thing so we'll just i recomend you only buy it if you kno its not music.

I was very surprised when I saw this "album" in my reccomendations. It wasn't long ago that I bought her album Love Angel Music Baby. I had not heard a new Gwen single on the radio that wasn't on the L.A.M.B. album. How could I have completely missed a new Gwen album? Then I found the following description on a website after a lot of searching:

"This title is very misleading. There is no music at all. There is alot of good info about No Doubt and Gwen but no music.

So this is probably just a biographical narration. Sort of like the "extra" CD you get with some large box sets.

Drum and Bass for Dummies........2002-09-30

For the average consumer, picking the right drum-and-bass compilation is as risk-free as a game of Russian Roulette. Among the CDs that keep crowding record store bins, there are the quality sets and their shoddily-assembled imitators. But for those who want to introduce themselves to the genre should consider "Bass in Your Face," which features remixes of tracks from artists familiar to the average Joe Schmo. Nervous beats and a memorable bassline revamp Missy Elliott's "The Rain," while rubbery bass glides through Busta Rhymes' radically transformed "Dangerous." En Vogue get the drum-and-bass makeover on the Babyface-penned "Whatever," and the disc's best moment is Armand Van Helden's dynamic re-working of Aaliyah's "One in a Million." Those already familiar to the genre may stick with other releases for advanced students in the drum-and-bass school, but this disc is a worthy consideration for those looking for a good introduction that doesn't have that cheesy "Totally Dance" aftertaste.

Actually Mickey Finn, Aphrodite, Dillinja, Natural Born Chillers, Lemon D, Dream Team (Bizzy B & Pugwash), Breakbeat Science, and 4 Hero are all Drum & Bass artists, so this easily and most definitely qualifies as a D & B CD. Some of the tracks are excellent, such as The Rain and Me or the Papas..

This is Bass, not Drum & Bass.......2000-03-01

This is a great CD filled with Bass for your subwoofers in your car, but it is not Drum & Bass. It has lots of really great remixes which I love. Lots of drop beats, and low lows for chest shaking sounds... but no Jungle style Drum & Bass. Buy this one for your car if you've got subs in the trunk!

I am a huge drum & bass fan. And most everything else for that matter. I think the cd is awesome, and is a superb blend of 2 cool genres. For those who think that rap and techno can not blend should hear stuff by propperheads, archive, and roni size just so they can know how wrong they are. Dilinja's remix of me or the papes is incredible

all right, i'll agree with DMBassfan305 as to the fact that the two genres of bass and hip hop are different from each other in a very definite way, but jeru the damaja's "me or the papes" (dillinja remix) is an incredible song in a strange sense, and so redeems the album somewhat. as a drum n bass fan, though, i have to say that the mix presented here should be kept seperate. this is one of those "could be better, could be worse" kinda things.

OK, I got this item at Borders, and I was so excited at the time, because I thought it was a DVD, with really cool HIM footage. I get home, pop it into my DVD player, and then I hear this woman talking. It's not a DVD. It's boring as shit, throughout the whole thing, this woman just talks about the band. It's hard to follow along with, and I got bored of it after listening to it for about 20 minutes. I completely lost interest. It feels like you're in class hearing the teacher drone on and on in a monotone voice. If you're a HIM fan, just get Love Metal Archives, the Singles Collection, the Video Archives DVD from 1997-2003, or just simply wait for the new album by HIM called Venus Doom which is to be released on September 18th in the US.
And, by the way, the woman even pronounced Ville's name wrong. She said it like this: "Vill" or "Veal", it's actually "Vill-uh"

Lame........2004-11-04

This product can be easliy described by the title of my review, lame. First off, this isn't an official release from HIM's record company (BMG/RCA). There is no music on this CD, just interviews. There is nothing on this CD that you can't easliy find on the internet, including their official web sites. The only cool thing about this is the little poster it comes with.

Absolutely marvelous.......2004-08-24

This memoir is simply excellent. If you're just beginning to know HIM, you should purchase this audio CD. It provides you with exquisite details on how the band began & how they got to where they are now. They tell you the biogrophies of Ville,Mige,Linde,Burton & Gas. It's great, even if you know them; there's possibly some new things that you just could find out from this.

This is really good! I don't think there is a bad track on it. I love the high energy blues and boogie instrumentals. I loaned this to my jazz/blues piano teacher (who has his own band) and he was also very impressed by the piano playing. The CD really should go back in print.

David Maxwell is still alive and kicking up a storm and you should check out his web site - he may play in your area - worth a trip.

The price of used CDs varies day to day. I waited until the price was right and got a fresh, new CD.

He has another album in print which is more of a mixed bag - some great, some so-so.

Great fun! Maxwell lays down the keys on the 88, and doesn't let up! I bought this after hearing one of the tracks ("Breakdown on the Bayou") on KPLU, and I loved it, so I listened to more of the tracks, and decided to buy it.

I wouldn't call it "slow" blues, such as T'aint Nobody's Business, or How Blue Can You Get?, or other B.B. King classics, but it makes up for it with just plain fun.

An aptly titled gem...this is a refreshing jolt. Simply electric the entire way through and never lets up. Gets strong recommendation from this fan.

I can't remember the exact route through which I came to this album. I was looking for some fresh new blood in my CD collection and I think I started with a 'Google' search for "CD blues piano" or something like that. I saw an encouraging reference to David Maxwell in one of the hits, and then came to Amazon to find out more. I then took advantage here of the excellent MP3 downloads, and from that point on my decision was made! A purchase was in order. This is definitely not a deep cerebral CD - this is good-natured high-energy fun! Even the slower numbers are bursting with verve. The piano playing throughout is tremendous - I don't know if there are any of the 88 keys he didn't touch during the performances, but I wasn't aware of them! David Maxwell, as an experienced sideman with many other blues players, obviously knows a thing or two when it comes to selecting his own sidemen. The band are excellent - crisp percussion, solid bass, rasping saxes, and blues guitar reminiscent of the Kings. Only one track has vocals, but as I was really looking for an instrumental album when I started my search this is no hardship. My only slight negative comment is with the old standard "Honky Tonk Train". I was really looking forward to hearing Maxwell's take on this, but after a long thunderous intro he takes off at an incredible rate. So fast, indeed, that I feel he loses some of the syncopated rolling gait of this tune. It's undoubtedly technically impressive, but I can't help feeling I've enjoyed other less proficient performances more. Anyway, that really is a minor aside. Go for this album with the full confidence that the MP3 samples give you a good impression of this artist and this recording. If you like them, you'll love the CD.

I love the blues... and David Maxwell can certainly play the 88's! Whether it's Chicago blues or down-home bayou blues, this is a "gotta have it" album for your collection!

When I purchased the cd, there wasn't a very good description, so I thought it was songs not previously released by The White Stripes. The description that there was described the cd as a cd by The White Stripes, well, it wasn't. It is a spoken word album. Not worth the time or money I spent on it.

Grrrr. "This is a spoken word product and contains no original music by the artist. It is not authorised by the artist, their record company or management." You can read more about why this is lame on the White Stripes official website. This sort of parasite production creates bitterness in the music industry and disappointment in true fans. I should have known that I was not ordering some unknown gem of previously unreleased White Stripes music. Unless this is your sort of thing I would recommend giving it a miss.
