Why a nonet? Because this combination of nine players gives the driving swing of a big band with the improvizational flexibility of a small group. All the musicians on this recording are superb. Personnel include Jim Cifelli as leader, composer trumpeter and flugelhornist; Andy Gravish, trumpet and flugelhorn; Cliff Lyons, alto and soprano sax; Barbara Cifelli, bari sax, C and alto flute and bass clarinet; Joel Frahm, tenor sax; Pete McCann, guitar; Mary Ann McSweeney, bass; and Tim Horner, drums.

Most of the eight selections are Jim Cifelli compositions with the exception of Fe Fi Fo Fum/Epeak No Evil and Cole Porter's What Is this Thing Called Love?

If you like tight, swinging arrangements and soaring trumpets, this album is for you. I was particularly impressed with the baritone saxophone work of Barbara Cifelli, Peter McCann's tasteful guitar and the string bass work of Mary Ann McSweeney.

MCM Music released this German progressive power metal band's DVD April, 2004, but only in PAL format (incompatible with North American DVD players). North American fans have had to wait for the audio CD to be released by MCM Music February, 2006. Featuring lead vocals from Christian Rivel, whose own Rivel Records label in Sweden has made its mark in recent years, it was recorded live March 29, 2003. The music tracks were re-edited and re-mastered for the audio CD by Carl Johann Grimmark December, 2005. One song and one guitar solo were also cut from the DVD version. Songs include: 'Introduction,' 'Inner Sanctum,' 'The Mission,' 'The Countdown Has Begun,' 'Back From Hell,' 'No Time To Lose,' 'Long Live the King,' 'Living Water,' 'Shelter Through the Pain,' 'Dangerous Game,' 'Awakening,' 'Break the Chains,' and 'The Witch and the Lion.'
