DONT BUY THIS.......2007-05-01
Benzino is by far one of the worst rappers EVER! i aint even gonna speak on the album that much, i bought this album in frustrations.. and i thought it was sad for this guy to get so much disrespect from the media, the whole Shady/aftermath/g-unit beef.. people said he was bad, i had to clear this up.. cause he could'n be THAT bad.. when i listened, he was even worse than i expected... this dude has no talent what so ever...!!! thank god for Eminem ending his career!! and the fact some people below actually give this album 4 mics.. they are completely out of their minds!!! no human with some kind of sense, would give this album more than 1 mic!!!
A Complete Listen........2006-09-18
Before all these Em fans start writin me death threats please try and understand my review. I agree with all of you, when they were beefin back in forth with the diss records I was on Em's side 100%. Slim smashed him for real. Much Respect. The reason that I'm givin this 4 stars is that this IS a complete gangsta rap record. There are a wide variety of beats and topics with amazing guest artists. I do understand that a weaker rapper will surround himself by greater wordsmiths, I'm still not going to take him down for that. He is a fan first and it shows. If you are a fan of rap or can look past the beefin you might enjoy this as much as I did.
Ray Benzino is tight!.......2006-04-18
Questionably the most underrated rap album of all time! A remarkable 1st solo album!
more like 3.5 stars from benzino.......2006-04-01
For his solo debut, Benzino does an alright job, mostly the guest list (which is huge) is what makes the album better. Being around for years with teh Almighty RSO and Made Men he had somewhat of a name for himself, not to mention his psition with the Source magazine, but his flow and rapping are average at best, like I said the guests make the album. It has 1 classic, 9 good songs, 4 are ok and 3 I skip. Every song but 2 has a gust or guests on it. Production is pretty good, mostly handled by Hangmen 3, who did all but 4 songs. Teddy Riley did 2, Puff Dady and Tone & Poke each did 1. anice album for his fans and his bes of his first 2, I still don't have "Arch nemesis".

Too ,many haters.......2005-02-23
To many haters, hating this album just because he dissed Eminem. What's very funny is that this album came out in 2001. And Benzino started beefing with Eminem in 2003. Now all the ratings on the album from 2001 - 2003 are all positive and getting good reviews. Then 2 years after the album was released it all a sudden get's lots of negative 1 ratings. With no reviews of the album or any of the songs. Just I hate Benzino, he's wack blah blah. Don't you get it, these people dissing the album ain't even heard it. They just mad because he's beefing with their hero. The Benzino Project is slept on. The production is great from begining to end. Alot of dope tracks like
Bang Ta Dis
Any Questions
Figadoh
No parts of me
Arch Nemesis is better. But this album is nowhere near as bad as these people say it is. Listen to it for yourself you'll like it.

The Benzino Remix Project by Benzino.......2006-02-14
From Almighty RSO to Made Man to solo artist, no matter what direction in rap Ray Scott aka Ray Benzino has went in he has always seemed to come up short. He leveraged his power at "The Source" magazine to promote and try to create a buzz for Made Men. This Boston native could have adverted any doubts of him by showing the world his skills. He dropped his first solo album, "The Benzino Project" which wasn't commercially accepted but he didn't stop. Following the popular string of Remix albums Benzino decided to drop a Remix album to The Benzino Project titled "The Benzino Remix Project". With help from some well known East Coast artists such as: Busta Rhymes, M.O.P., P Diddy, G Dep, Prodigy from Mobb Deep, and the production of his Hangman 3 maybe Benzino could get over the hump and earn some respect in the game.
The album begins with a nice produced intro "617" which has Benzino talking over singing. The lead song "Who's Benzino" features P. Diddy and it's basically about who is Benzino and we all know who Benzino is by now. Today his mark of fame is being co-owner of The Source Magazine. He reminds us of his ownership by blatantly yells "F*** 5 Mics mutha***er I'm The Source" on the last verse of the song. The beat isn't striking but it can have your head nodding. "Bang Ta Dis" which was on his previous album really doesn't need much of an explanation but he does spit some lyrics that make you have a chuckle "Check a n*** history better ask around raps greatest mystery." With lines like that it is almost intriguing to keep on listening to see what Benzino will say next. After skipping through a few lackluster tracks "Figadoh (Remix)" which features New York's livest Bustah Rhymes and M.O.P. is the first vigorous track that makes you nod your head. The liveliness of Busta Rhymes & M.O.P. saves the track from collapse. The "Bang Ta Dis Remix" features Prodigy from Mobb Deep and it really isn't any different from its original version apart from Prodigy and a mediocre verse. "Nobody Liver" has a very bizarre combination with Benzino and Pink collaborating on a song. What is astounding is that Benzino portrays himself as a hardcore gangsta from Boston and Pink is a pop singer with pink hair. The entertainment value of the song is thinking about how they hooked up together. Black Rob and Benzino hook up on the track "Any Question's" and the hook does no justice, they claim that they're like big Shaq in the paint.
The second half of the album heads into a little more diverse direction then the first half, which was basically one long boring story about guns, sex, money, drugs, and so on. "No Part Of Us" features Bobby Brown and even though he isn't too gifted on the mic he outshines Benzino on the track. The fact that he is Bobby Brown will lend your ear towards the song. "So Beautiful" has a semi reggae feel to the song since it features an unknown artist by the name of Dr. Bellotoma. The plot of this song is about a girl that's so fine that they want to bone and Benzino spits some pioneering lyrics "Gimme respect I got juice like OJ, four play that suck me off all day, I need a girl like P Diddy & Usher Say". With lines like that there is no need to give him five mics because Benzino is "The Source". "Boottee (Remix)" featuring Fabolous & G Dep is most defiantly a banger with two artists that spit catchy lines left, right, and center. The remix would have been much better if Benzino would have let Fab and Dep ride out on the song by themselves. The album finally begins to get into a little rhythm of consistency with two tight tracks back to back with "The Jump Off" which features Raekwon and Cormega. After "The Jump Off" though the album goes back into that mode of horrible tracks including "Shine Like Son" which features his son Rey Rey whom is by far the worst kid rapper to ever touch the microphone. The concept of making a father son song is beautiful but the song is the total opposite.
The whole point of making a Remix album is to remix good songs that you have made but this album here takes the cake. After not even pushing 50k albums Benzino still manages to slither back into rap with a remix album. Why remix an album when no one is feeling the original solo album? The album's feeling isn't really a remix it's like a Lou Rawls telethon. When you have 22 songs and a small fraction of tracks that are good, keeping the listeners attention toward the album after a few songs really will be the mission impossible. Benzino's subject matter is the same on just about every song and him rapping like he's one of the top MC's should just be left alone for the top MC's in the game. Sorry America "The Benzino Remix Project" is BOOTTEE, BOOTTEE, BOOTTEE.
He tries, he really does.......2004-12-09
It's kind of sad when you're from Boston (like myself) and never hear this guy get any air play in his own city. His flow is mild at best and his content (Drug Dealing, Murder, ect) has been done to death. But if thats what you're into, try Eazy E, Big L, or even LL Cool J. They do a better job at it and they always draw you into the story. But hey, its your money.
well............2004-07-25
"bootee" is a hot track and the best is "bang ta dis". it's a very haunting sounding song and it's got one of the best beats ever. this guy doesn't deserved to get dissed. he owns source magazine and before xxl came out everyone was reading the source. you can't hate it; it would be like saying krs-one is lame. at least this guy isn't some lil flip or b.g. or memphis bleek or fat joe or whatever else.....man there are just so many wack rappers today. but as for benzino, i think he's becoming a good rapper. this album was hot though
SZ (Seattle).......2004-07-22
I would give this album 4 stars because the production and the dynamics of the music are great. Sure, Benzino can't rhyme, but he's doing a lot more than crunk lyrics (Lil Jon, Trillville.....no disrespect to any of them). Also, we're ranking the album as a whole, not just the artist, so all the famous guest appearances did they job and delivered. DON'T JUDGE BENZINO BASED ON WHAT OTHERS SAY!!!!!! THAT WILL LEAVE YOU A BAD IMAGE OF HIM BEFORE YOU EVEN LISTEN TO THE ALBUM. ANY RAPPER WOULD HAD A HARD TIME ESTABLISHING A FANBASE AFTER THE ALL THE YEARS OF ATTACK THIS MAN ENDURED. GET THE ALBUM, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DISSAPPOINTED. Shout out to the 'bury, mattapan, dorchester.
