4 out of 5 stars Mac Mall and Khayree once again working together.......2005-06-23

Many people here had a lot of bad things to say about this album. Maybe because it sounded very different from his previous classics "Illegal Game?" and "Untouchable", and some people don't like a change. But believe me, they are wrong! This is a tight album, with a whole different sound. You just can't go wrong with legendary producer Khayree - he invents the game once a game, coming out with some new types of beats (yet not that different than the beats you've heard on the previous YBB albums). Mac Mall and Khayree are one of the best rapper/producer combination - they're like Dr. Dre/Snoop, Mannie Fresh/Juvenile, Ant Banks/Too Short - you get the idea... They've got natural chemistry together and it shows on the album. Mac Mall's rapping skills can't be denied, although on some songs his flow is a bit different from what we're used to. However, Mall a.k.a. Baby Capone is still one of the most unique rappers to come out the West. He's got that real candid mentality, speaking what's on his mind - which is mostly hustlin', trying to come up in this rap game... The lyrics are clever, his flow is (usually) on point. Some songs are very hard (songs like "Rude Boy", "Keys to the city", "Don't Move" feat. Jt The Bigga Figga and others), and some are a bit more laid back and mellow ("Wide Open", "Pus** wipped", "Mac Fashion" , ) The bottom line is, that it's a record you can play from beginning to end without skipping a song (well maybe you'll skip those stupid skits they put on there just to fill space). "Illegal Game 2000" is a very good album, a consistant one, only preparing us to another Mac Mall masterpiece, that was released a couple of years later - "Immaculate"!

1 out of 5 stars (...).......2001-10-26

(...) mac mall should never have crossed mac dre. old, poorly produced beats with mac mall yelling (his flow is not all that smooth, right?- at least on this album) i miss the days of "playa to playa" and "dubee, mall and sleep" MAC MALL, YOU BETTER STEP YOUR GAME BACK UP AND GET ORIGINAL OR YOU"LL GET SWALLOWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Another Great Cut From Mall.......2000-12-09

Anyonw who says this is not for rap fans is a joke. This is not the same dirty set of rap tracks. It has a refined feel to it which shows Khayree's growth, as well as where he is taking the rap game. These tracks come with a new feel to them. The guitar work on CLockwork is classic. Mohave has be bobbing my head. And yes, there still are the hard cuts which make you say, "Wow." Do People Ever Ask You is one of the best rap tracks ever. Keys to the City and Don't Move also got a real hard sound to them which is reminiscient of older gangsta rap. All in all, this really shows Mall's rhyming skill and Khayree's gift for production.

2 out of 5 stars for non hip hop lovers.......2000-04-05

damn if you like an album that sounds worse than dmx, buy this one. how can anyone like it, its made for kids who think they are 'street' and dont know the real thing. unfortunately, the bay hasn't had any real hits yet. im not a hater, im just sayin what i think of this album, don't own it but listened to it many times to be sure about it. this is not just my opinion, many people think this way

mac malls production is low and uninspired, with beats that sound like party anthems, the lyrics dont tell anything, it feels more like a compilation than like a real album

5 out of 5 stars MAC MALL!.......2000-01-06

Dang, I first heard Mac Mall when i was visiting some friends in stockton last year..and dang...it had a big impact...Mac Mall's sounds was too hard for LA...But i think we are ready. DO people ever ask you why?

I enjoyed this CD. I've liked Mac Mall for a minute. Just went on vac to Oakland and the people there love music. For a artist to make it out of the local is hard. This CD is on hit.

Yeah, this is the sh#t. That bay area sh#t. Heavy tracks with deep bass by khayree, and tight rapping from mac mall. This was one of the tight, tight albums of 93'. Start to finish, its cool all the way through. I will never let this go missing or get fu#@ed up. If you like bay area or rap altogether, then you need to know about this and have it if you don't already. Later!

      5 out of 5 stars CLASSIC.......2004-08-27

Mac Mall's best. One of the west coast's best EVER.If you don't have it, get it and if you don't get ; you don't get it!

      5 out of 5 stars Bay Area's Finest.......2004-01-07

I was amazed after I had listened this album. This is one of the best ever, and the beats are definitely the best. Underground super-producer Khayree gave those unbelievable beats, where Mac Mall could deliver his gangsta mack rhymes. All the tracks are off the hook, the whole album is Bay Area style at it's best. The 5 stars aren't enuff for this.
