Not Amazing, But Solid.......2006-08-01

Like I said, there isn't anything on this album that really jumps out at you, it all sort of blends together, but there is nothing really wrong with any of the songs on this album either. There was just a lack of variation. The songs are almost all identical in structure, texture, and pace. Not to bash them though, because if you like this type of music, you'll probably be very happy with this CD. I can see how 'Heave' would make a great show opener, and 'Blurred' does add a differnt dynamic to the mix with rain and thunder sounds. 'No Need,' 'Not Like You,' and 'New,' are all solid tracks and could have done well on the radio. 'Breathless' is a nice and heavy closer, a wise chioce.

This album just goes to show how unpredictable the music industry can be. There are several parrallels between Lifer and Linkin Park (rap/rock, turn-tables, solid bass and drums, and crunchy catchyguitar riffs), but Lifer never even got any major airplay, while Linkin Park went on to be the top selling artists of their genre.

And for those interested, when this band split up, the guitarist and bassist became two of the founding members of Breaking Benjamin.

Lifer was a band that was just beginning to break the surface back in 2000 with their debut album. Sadly however Aaron and Mark left to embark on a different project known as Breaking Benjamin. No real solid explination was givin and why they left just as the band was starting to gain a fanbase but it's pretty much known that that's what lead to Lifer's downfall. When I picked up the album back in 2005 only knowing a couple songs I had downloaded and liked I was suprised how good it was. It's nothing like Limp Bizkit, if anything it would be closer to a Breaking Benjamin than Limp Bizkit or Korn. This is straight up Alt Metal, not Rapcore. Anyway, It was good....sadly I learned of Lifer's breakup and found a whole bunch of unreleased songs to help me get my fix but I still miss the band. Anyway the album a good modern alt metal album and fans of stuff like Spineshank or Breaking Benjamin should find something in this. My favorite tracks from the cd are "Swallow", "No Need", "Parade", "New", and "Not Like You". Here's the rest of the album.

Pretty much the album is solid Alt Metal and it's a good debut by a band that should have became much more. I see elements of Pantera as well as Tool in these songs. Tracks like "Parade" are a good example of this. Anyway, give it a try the cd's cheap and not hard to find. The unreleased songs however are still just as good... There are 4-8 tracks of the band played still as lifer and another 12 or so under the new alias "MyDownfall" before they disbanded.

Another RUSHED CD bites the dust........2005-09-27

I saw these guys on MTV battle of the band when they went by the name 'Strangers with Candy' (in my opinion it was a better choice than Lifer) and I voted for them all the way...they were awsome, their cover of 'take on me' was freaking killer, so when I saw that 'Lifer' was in deed that band I freaked and bought the CD ASAP! Oh my god i should have waited, until i found it used, or just downloaded the first track and i would have known to forego any further dealings with this band. The only decent song is the hidden track which is an acoustic version of 'Perfect' which isn't even on the album in it's electric form. Thats really the best song they;ve ever done, that and 'Swallow'...the rest of the CD is just kids play, crappy guitar work and even crappier lyrics by some kid who can't sing...and they did so well on MTV but come to think of it, they didn't have much competition either! If you HAVE to listen to any of the songs or think I'm full of crap and want to download them for yourself, please download either 'Boring' 'Breathless' or the two I mentioned above because the rest of the CD is WORTHLESS, RUSHED "NO TIME SPENT ON THIS MEDIOCOR RELEASE" CRAP!

From Lifer to myDownfall to The Drama Club.......2005-09-24

While Aaron and Mark left to join Breaking Benjamin, Nick and Chris went on to form myDownfall. After myDownfall split up, Nick formed The Drama Club which is a pretty kick ass rock band. (...)

By the way, this cd is awesome. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. I'll probably have to at some point as I want another sticker dammit.

so so underrated.......2005-09-04

I bought this cd about 2 years ago or so and i can't believe how solid and how catchy every song is. If they would have stuck around with the same lineup they could have been something. Also the singer has great vocal melodies and can change the pitch of his voice so well. I believe that some of the members still have a band under the new name My Downfall. But im not totally sure since i havent been to the website in awhile. But all in all this cd is very underrated in my mind.
