5 out of 5 stars One of Wyclef's Greatest works.......2007-05-19

This album is probably one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. It tells some of Haiti's history and gives alot of respect to the rest of Carribean. It reveals Haiti's proud history of Independence.Dieu vous bénit Wyclef. Bonjour le Pacifique du sud. Ceci est un grand cd. Great CD.

5 out of 5 stars Love Wyclef.......2007-04-15

I loved the fugees and love wyclef. His albums always have the carribean flavor. Must have in the collection it is a classic.

4 out of 5 stars Bon Bagay!.......2006-03-20

This is a great CD for anyone who love Caribbean music, especially Konpa Kreyol. Se yon bon bagay ke li ye. Li gen bon mizik ladan.

5 out of 5 stars Love It!!!!!!.......2006-02-23

I love this cd. It's upbeat and fun. I listen to it everyday. I hope he puts out another cd in this same style. My favorite song is President but Fistibal festival is a close second. There's not a song on here that I don't like. I highly recommend this cd.

5 out of 5 stars Great WORLD album.......2005-12-16

This is quite possibly my favorite album ever. It doesn't fit in with Wyclef's past rap and hip-hop albums, but it is an excellent world/carribean cd. I especially like Bicentennial. If you want to have an uplifting album with great flow, buy this one. I believe that Wyclef should continue both with this carribean and his rap as well.

Young Jeezy is hardly breaking new ground in rapping endlessly about the similarities between the trap game and the rap game. He joins a distinguished line of former 'caine slangers turned MC--Scarface, Jay-Z, the Clipse, Biggie, etc. However, despite the familiarity of Jeezy's topics, this Atlanta rapper has managed to make a bi-coastal splash through the strength of his mic presence and charisma. As the stand-out member of ATL's Boyz N Tha Hood, Jeezy has distinguished himself against the field of contemporary rappers. More rugged than the Game, though not as charming as Cam'ron, Jeezy's work-horse flow and lyrics are draped into evocative street-level realism. Though the Southern influence is obvious in many of the album's bounce and crunk-influenced beats, he shows an impressive diversity of sound selection including on his current street anthems for this summer like"Trap Star," "My Hood," and the sublimely melancholy "Go Crazy." -- Oliver Wang

5 out of 5 stars I luv it.......2006-12-14

Jeezy's first album reminds me of his boss's fist Album. Jay's classic is hard to come close to, but Jeezy comes very close. From start to finish this album set's itself apart from a lot of music that came out that year. The beats fit his style of lyrics, and he holds his own on tracks with other artist. Sometimes the greatest rime is not the most complex, but the greatest rime is the most understandable. Jeezy is not just a rapper, Jeezy is a movement.

4 out of 5 stars Top 10 Rap Album of 2005.......2006-10-26

Jeezy did a song called Over Here with Bun B and I kind of liked it, but once I heard Go Crazy...I went crazy. The opening is a thing of beauty, so much so Hip-hop radio stations use it for their segues. Jeezy sold me with My Hood. I'm not from the hood, but I just get it. I listen to this album when I'm cleaning the house or styling my hair before work. Good album, one of the best of 2005.

3 out of 5 stars Something about this release.........2006-10-10

There's something oddly appealing in Young Jeezy's work. His lyrics are typical hustler fare, that's clear. His production is top-notch, but how many releases off of Def Jam have wack production? It's something about Jeezy's style that is audibly pleasing. So, excuse me if I try to decipher exactly what it is in this review, all while giving a rundown of the material at hand.

I'm a large fan of east coast hip-hop, and when it comes to subject matter, Jeezy appears to fit in with the first coast moreso than the second and third, even if it's not where he actually hails from. The majority of this album shows you exactly where Jeezy's Snowman alias comes from; it's about moving the white stuff. No, I don't mean the powdered sugar you sprinkle over your pancakes on Christmas morning, although it is something else with a powderary substance.

When it comes to hip-hop, although New York's my home for the music, I also find great comfort in good Southern albums. I'm actually quite affectionate of them; I understand that most of the south isn't full of profound lyricists, but they do the best with what God gave them. Houston's my number one spot for hot Southern artists, but Atlanta's a place I visit quite often; before Jeezy, for OutKast, Goodie Mobb, and T.I. It looks like I'll have to stop at Young Jeezy's during my time there now, too.

But what is it that seperates Jeezy from the rest of the gangstas today? What seperates him from the 50 Cents, Tony Yayos, Jim Jones, and Rick Rosses of hip-hop, and where does he succeed where these artists fail?

Personality. Charisma. Microphone presence. Things that rappers better than him lyrically don't always possess. He also has one hell of an ear for beats, and no matter how cheesy his continuous "Yeeeeeeeeeeeahs" and "Riiiiiiiiiiiights" may get, they contribute to the infectiousness of Jeezy's music.

This isn't a classic release. There are a few mishaps here and there on the album, and no matter how oddly charming Jeezy maybe, he can get on your nerves after a long period of time. Tracks that never get old(in my opinion) are cuts like "Soul Survivor," the title track, "Standing Ovation," "Trap Star," "And Then What," and "Go Crazy." This is Southern fried hip-hop with a heavy east coast influence. Jeezy isn't getting it crunk, and Jeezy isn't getting metaphysical; he's just rapping about what he knows, and that's enough to make this a quality release. Recommended to those with an open-mind.

3 out of 5 stars Its alright.......2006-10-02

Standout tracks: STANDING OVATION, GANGSTA MUSIC, AND THEN WHAT, GO CRAZY, LAST OF A DYING BREED(trick daddy had the best verse of the song), BOTTOM OF THE MAP, BANG(T.I and Scrappy floor Jeezy on this one), DONT GET CAUGHT, SOUL SURVIVOR, TRAP OR DIE(Bun B shuts it down), TEAR IT UP(slick pulla made this song alright) and AIR FORCES(the beat is crazy). Filler: My hood(chopped up version of T.I's rubberband man), Trap star(even the beat is awful), Thug motivation 101, Thats how you feel etc. Bottom Line: Although I hate the Sauce I do have to agree with them on the point that Jeezy is not lyrical. He tends to use the same word to make a rhyme on every other song. If this much is so then why give him 3 stars? For the songs that I like on this album and the production is crazy(minus Trap star and My hood) and his punchlines and metaphors are hilarious. But alas he'll fall off soon. How long can you rap about coke and guns before it gets tired?

1 out of 5 stars Terrible garbage........2006-09-04

Anyone ever see any of these rap "artists" perform live? They're the most boring, derivative "entertainers" in the world. They walk up and down the stage grabbing their crotch and YELL their lyrics. They go from talking on records to yelling on stage. Quite a stretch. All this is done with about thirty of their no-name friends prancing around stage with microphones saying "YEAH!" "UH-HUH!" "WHAT!" "THAT'S RIGHT!" "UH!" etc. Get real.

Meanwhile, the only "music" provided is a backing track cued by some dude backstage. It makes for the most dull, predictable "concert" you'll ever see.

I can't wait until all this nonsense just disappears. In a world of common sense, these idiots would still be flipping burgers at McDonald's.

The Evil Genius DJ Green Lantern delivered the definitive new school street album with Shady Times Vol 1. Eminem's official DJ at the time, he sewed together a grip of exclusive freestyles, remixes and favourites from Eminem's broad catalogue, D12, G-Unit and their extended crew. This much sought after precursor to the street album movement is finally available again! As well as a huge amount of freestyles from Slim Shady and his fam, highlights include the 2003 remix of Mobb Deep's classic "Survival of the Fittest", the 8 Mile anthem "Lose Yourself" and a freestyle from Busta Rhyme's Flipmode Squad. As a bonus, Green Lantern opens the album by playing off Em and Benzino's fierce dis tracks against one another in the chronological order that they were released. This is essential material for any fan of Eminem, D12, 50 Cent or G-Unit.

this is games ghost unit mixtape, still a good listen, but not 1 of his better ones, with his name dropping skills in full effect game goes on about dissing all of the g-unit crew, still a ok album thats worth buying, but nothing inovative here

5 out of 5 stars Hot Mixtape From The Game, Sign Of More Great Things To Come.........2006-09-22

Game shows these rap suckas how it should be done on this mixtape, he buries competition track after track like a real mc does, can't wait till "Doctor's Advocate" drops

    4 out of 5 stars good mix.......2006-03-22

First let me address this if you go on the game's cd's and mixtapes and read the reviews most of the people hate it because they hate the game, i hated 50 Cent but instead of givin 50 one star and sayin stuff like 50 is gay and actin like a little punk ass trick i gave him a 3 because it had like 3 good songs on it, i think little kids who write negative reviews better write them about the actual mixtape and not the artist

5 out of 5 stars He Is The Game.......2006-03-22

speaks nothing but the truth in all of his cd's.. 50 got shot 3 times, not 9.. look in the paper. 50 got a hot single that dr. dre wrote, so no wonder the boy blew up, he needs to be thanking dre, and taking home the money he made and call it quits. go cop the game dvd, its hot boi! G G G G G G G G - UNOT!

2 out of 5 stars a great rapper but not a good cd.......2006-02-26

The game is 1 of the best right now n lots of love for him but this cd was not good. The songs were pretty crappy n not 2 great. He has all the right 2 dis 50 cause 50 is a wanna b thug. The first mixtape was alot better n the documentary was good 2. Game has great lyrics in alomst all his songs n cds but not this 1. Game has tons of potiental n is usin it but not in this cd. so get his other cds were game is beeter cause i think he ran out of disses for 50 n his wanna b clan.

4 out of 5 stars Jeezy Represents Real Hip Hop.......2006-12-13

No wonder Jeezy got Jay's blessing, and a guest shot too! This album is a classic, if you don't have it by now; go buy it!

          2 out of 5 stars All Hype (2.5 Stars).......2006-03-09

Never underestimate the power of good hype. Good hype got Lil' Kim a 5 mic rating in The Source and good hype has people thinking Jeezy is more than a below average rapper. Don't believe the hype though, Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 is simply a display of good production. The beats are the only thing that keeps this from being a certified drink coaster. I think the record execs out there know that no one listens to words anymore, otherwise the good people at Def Jam would've never let this record see the light of day. Even Jeezy would agree with me....just listen to "Gangsta Music" to hear what I'm talkin' about. Even on "Get Ya Mind Right" he says "I ain't gotta rap, I'ma do numbers..." Truer words have never been spoken. Honestly, if you look past the singles, a good 98% of this album is filler. The lyrics are elementary and his flow doesn't exist. So someone tell me, what's all the hype about? By the way, I'm not one of these people that hates southern or mainstream rap either.I really wanted to like this album, it just didn't happen. Hell, half the time he doesn't even rhyme on beat.

There are probably 3 or 4 songs on the album that are good (and when I say good, I mean the beat is bangin'.....there are no memorable lyrics on this album). Actually, the singles are the highlights of the album. "Go Crazy" is cool, but the remix with Jay Z is better. "Soul Survivor" features Akon and will definitely move some butts in the club. "And Then What" feat. Mannie Fresh is cool, but loses replay value after about a week. Also, "Trap Star" is another good song if you can get past the terrible hook. Once you get past the singles, all you have left is some gangster posturing (notice how I didn't call it rapping) over good/decent production. If you're looking for dope verses, look elsewhere. The best lines on the entire album come from Young Buck (and he only has one verse) on "Last Of A Dying Breed" despite its boring beat and mailed in verses from Jeezy and Trick Daddy.

I can't blame Jeezy for cashing in on good hype. It's the American way, after all. The fact is that the beats carry this album because the guy rapping sounds like he just got into rap a week ago. This album will easily go platinum, but that's the power of good hype. The people who actually respect rap music probably won't come within 10 feet of this album anyway. When it comes down to it, I can't recommend this album to anyone.

Standout Tracks: Go Crazy, Trap Star, And then What feat. Mannie Fresh, My Hood, Soul Survivor feat. Akon

5 out of 5 stars JEEZY IS THE ISH!!.......2005-08-04

At first I was skeptical but i am glad I invested in the Jezzy CD. He is a very nice rapper. I personally enjoy the following songs in no particular order

          * And Then What
          * Tear It Up
          * Last of A Dying Breed
          *Soul Survivor
          *Trap or Die

I think that success is in Jeezy's future. The buzz that he has right now is tremendous and I believe he will live up to the hype. This coming from an occassional rap listener.

          4 out of 5 stars Don`t sleep on this!.......2006-04-20

Shyheim came back fresh out of prison to release this amazing set of tracks. If you pay attention to the lyrics, you will find the determination of a young gun who went through a great deal of deep thinking on the inside, and has determined to not repeat his mistakes. This is one of the best releases of the past few years. If you like lyrics in Hip-Hop, go and cop this. The beats are very nice too. Next time Shyheim may reach his maturity.

          3 out of 5 stars ehh....so much potential.......2005-07-14

Shyheim, in my opinion has one good album, and it was never released in the U.S. That being "Manchild". A real coming of age hardcore album. When I saw this in the store I was skeptical, but I tried it anyway. What I heard was a hungry MC with no background to tell his story. Shyheim come on point lyrically on all the songs, but the beats suffer from being overly simplistic and repetitive. There are a couple songs produced by RZA and one by Bars and Hooks, the album is a good jump off point for his new label, but he has to keep the lyrics in check. Song #2 is the bomb, I thought I was getting something hype and out of this world. But instead I got a very mature album from Shyheim, not what I was expecting, but its okay.

          4 out of 5 stars Good 4th Solo.......2005-07-14

After a stint in the slammer and 5 years off Shyheim is back, not as good as "Manchild" but still a solid 4 star album. After being in the game for 11 years (since the age of 13) he shows he still has what it takes to deliver the goods. As usual with his stuff, you get good lyrics, some deep songs, and some straight gangsta/hustlin tales. It has 16 songs, 4 are ok, 12 are good. The last half of the albums is very good, the first half is slightly above average. Guests rap on about half of the songs, but you still get a good deal of the Ruggid Child. Production is pretty good, Booda & J Pelligrino each do 3, RZA, & Gooch each do 2, and S Mason, Calogero, Easy Mo Bee, Bars & Hooks, Arizona Slim, Jwells all do 1. A good album to have for fans of the Wu.

          #1 - 7 (f/ Jamsine Rae)
          #2 - 8
          #3 - 9 (f/ Lex -- relaxing beat)
          #4 - 7.5
          #5 - 8.5 (f/ IMF Blue & The embassy)
          #6 - 8 (deeper song)
          #7 - 7.5
          #8 - 7.5
          #9 - 8.5 (f/ Bars & Hooks and V-12)
#10 - 8.5 (f/ Yumi -- about how the Wu went out and got new producers -- produced by RZA)
          #11 - 8.5 (f/ Gutta - -good beat)
          #12 - 8.5 (f/ King Just)
          #13 - 8 (deeper song)
          #14 - 8.5 (nice beat -- about fake pimps)

          #16 - 8.5 (f/ Housegang -- nice beat)

The greatest story never told is a great ablum from start to finish. Shyhiem is one of the most underappreciated rappers in the game today. I wish the wu would put him on some more of their stuff. I reall think that if you have heard shyheim in the past or are a fan of the wu youll really enjoy this album. RZA does do some of the producion and la the dark man appears also. WU Tang Forever??? Get this wu tang clan back in the studio and make an album

This crap don't even deserve one star. Without 50 nobody don't know who that little cupcake The Gayme is. Without Dre's beats he wouldn't have had any song worth a d***.

When my sister first gave this to me when I heard it and when I heard all the tracks I just laughed about how much these gaylord soldiers are being dissed. The funny thing about it is that its the truth. The songs I love are Hate it or Love it Street(hillarious "Somebody must of told him steroids wasn't a drug") Remix, Down( Okay "Thats lloyd banks Mama singin"), Poison Bannanas(So street and funny "Nigga using that muscle enhancement") Lil bit remix( Hillarious "duce by scott scorch" )but the best is Olivia(hillarious "you had your hair and nails done Sittin next to that fag Tony Yayo"). G-unit just pisses me off now. Thank you game for makinng this and all the artists that are street and raw like Mobb Deep and MOP who just joined them your now officially Losers you two just disgraced me, the face of New York ,and Hip Hop Bronx. NY forever - one Sticka

4 out of 5 stars "You Know What It Is" Review.......2005-09-14

Presented by DJ Skee and Nu Jerzey Devil, "You Know What It Is, Volume 3" has The Game going at his old G-Unit crew with a vengeance. With "300 Bars", Game pulls no punches as he freestyles over more than a dozen different beats and goes hard at 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, Olivia, Memphis Bleek and others. Many of the tracks open with snippets from interviews with G-Unit members where they talk down on Game and comment on their upcoming projects. Game returns fire by switching up the lyrics to 50's hit single, "Lil Bit" and removing him from the street version of "Hate It Or Love It". Also along for the ride on "You Know What It Is" are Game's group, M.O.B. (Eastwood and Technique), Rockstar, T.I., Sheek Louch of D-Block, W.C., former Murder, Inc. artist Charli "Chuck" Baltimore, and a few others. Aside from the disses on G-Unit which make up the majority of the mixtape, there are a few exclusives including the unreleased version of "Where I'm From" featuring Dr. Dre's verse, and a remix of "Dreams" featuring Notorious B.I.G.

5 out of 5 stars The Game is for real. 50 cent is as fake as it gets........2005-08-30

300 Bars and Runnin' is the best dis song since 2pac came out with Hit Em Up. This Cd is an absolute must have for any Hip-Hop fan. 50 Cent is a punk and he shows his true colors by dissing other artists (Ja Rule) and then does the exact same thing in his own music. Candy Shop, Magic Stick, Outta Control are basically the same songs. The Game raps about how horrible G-Unit really is. Banks sucks, Yayo sounds like he has a cold and 50 makes the same recycled rhymes that teenage girls listen to.
