First Step In A Long Journey is a great CD, with many good songs that are fun and entergetic. Brad has combined a variety of styles and talented musicians to create music that is very enjoyable. I especially like Maribeth's Paradise because of the excellent piano part, and Give Them Love is just a good song. :) This CD is well worth your money... I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Brad Powell's "Expedition" bounces between various styles, each expressing a different side of this talented musician. It goes from the candy sweet of "Chasing an Dream"to the pounding and raucious of "Robbie Bop". The overall arrangements are worthy of close listening and show a clarity obtained through years of writing for television. Mark Massey is a phenomenal presence and rounds out a group of supurb musicians. Excellant first effort! I for one am looking for great things from Brad. The only critisism I can give is that the album is not focused on one style. If you pick one, Brad go with Robbie Bop!
Excellent Blend of Pop and Jazz.......1999-04-27
The First Step In a Long Journey is as good an CD that is on the market today. My discriptions may not contain the standard reviewer's verbiage, but, trust me, this is a great CD!!! Adult Contemporary, light, pop rock and great jazz melodies. The CD brings me down a road that begins with a National Geographic type overture and winds me down the a very eclectic path. "Robbie Bop" is a Jazz-Rock big band combination of themes from "Devil Went Down to Georgia" and "Johnny B Goode". Great ballads, Marybeth's Paridise, and Nightengale. Sidewalk Sunday, and City Dream are upbeat pop. The tribute to the late Joe Pass is great. Even has words of wisdom from Joe. Great performances by very talented musicians.
