For this release, Tupac Shakur adopted the pseudonym "Makaveli" in honor of the philosopher Machiavelli, author of the devious politician's handbook The Prince. Contractually his final effort for Death Row, it was recorded in seven days and was released on schedule in October 1996, despite Shakur's death a month earlier. Shakur was unparalleled at balancing the upbeat and the morbidly grim, and tracks like "Toss It Up" are such wonderfully catchy pop songs that the nasty lyrical digs at his then-current crop of enemies seem almost subliminal. Not so with album closer "Against All Odds," in which Shakur spells out very explicitly who he thinks was responsible for his ambush shooting in New York City. Overall, the Makaveli album feels so much like one man's complete exorcism of an overload of pent-up personal and professional pressures that it's hard not to believe that Shakur had all eyes on a new direction for the future. --Gregg Turkington

2Pac's Darkest Album.......2007-07-19
i'd have to say that this is one of my favorite 2Pac albums he comes with straight fire on this album his lyrics are deep and dark this album has some great 2Pac hits me and my girlfriend to live and die in l.a hail mary toss it up & a great diss track against all odds if your a fan of hip/hop cop this album
Favourite 2Pac album.......2007-05-12
"Watchin time fly I love my people do or die
But I wonder why we scared to let eachother fly" - Krazy
That's real from the realest MC, 2Pac - RIP.
I just had to bring him back.......2007-04-23
Dont get me wrong. I love All Eyez On Me. It was one of the best albums of 96 but it was missing the political side of Pac. The conscious side. On this album you get Pac's anger at other rappers but you also get some insight like White Man's World, Blasphemy and Krazy. Its unfortunate to hear the diss tracks like Bomb First and Against All Odds get more mention over White Man's World and Krazy but I understand where most people's heads are at. Standout tracks: BOMB FIRST, HAIL MARY, TOSS IT UP, TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA, BLASPHEMY, LIFE AS AN OUTLAW, KRAZY, WHITE MAN,S WORLD, ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND and AGAINST ALL ODDS. Filler: I never felt Just Like Daddy. Bottom Line: In 96, Pac droppped to classics, All Eyez On Me and The Don Killuminati. Pac's rhymes were great, the production was different but good. All in all it was a great album.
Perfect way to end Pac's career.......2007-04-10
It does seem more of a compilation than an album to me. It basically has songs for everything he had done in his career so far, for introspective we have "Krazy" and "Hold Ya Head", for political we have "White Man'z World", for outlaw we have "Life Of An Outlaw, for diss songs we have "Bomb First" and "Against All Odds" and so on. All in all its a classic album though ranks as my third favourite (behind Me Against The World and All Eyez on Me) The production shines once again and Pac never dissapoints. Highly recommended to all Pac fans who don't already own this
Tupac Black Jesus.......2006-09-01
First of all it would not make any sense for suge to have tried to kill Pac come on that little money he owed pac is nothing compared to what he's getting sued for now so all you idiots hush with that noise. Anyway this album is timeless you could listen to this in 2059 and it will still be relevant. True LEgend

One of Pac's more interesting releases .......2007-05-22
'The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory' is one of 2pac's more interesting releases, yet like most of his albums it also happens to be incredibly overrated. I can see why others like it, but I wasn't feeling it as much as most were.
It opens blazingly with the incredible intro ' Bomb First (My Second Reply)', but the next two tracks, the hit single 'Hail Mary' and 'Toss it Up' get boring and monotonous quick, unfortunately. On 'To Live And Die In L.A.' 2pac sends some love out to the city he lived in, and that's one of the albums highlights. 'Blasphemy' is more of the typical "thug life" 2pac you've heard a million times before, and although it's not a terrible track, it fails to impress. 'Life Of An Outlaw' is one of the stronger tracks on this album, and the Outlawz safe it from becoming monotonous. 'Just Like Daddy' is a great track with deep, personal lyrics, and 'Krazy' is alright, but highly overrated just like the next track. The next two tracks are decent, although the obnoxious woman on 'Me And My Girlfriend' make the song hard to take seriously. 'Against All Odds' is a diss track, and just like the intro, 'Bomb First', it closes the album with a bang.
Some of 2pac's best work can be found here, but the "dark and moody" atmosphere feels forced and not genuine. The lyrics are mostly good, although they're repetitive on a few tracks. Overall, if you like 2pac you'll like this, but I wasn't blown away by it like most people were.
Pac Sets the Game Straight.......2007-02-01
This album is truly phenomenal. Basically the last album Tupac himself put together before he died, he sets the entire rap industry upside down in the opening track. The way this album opens up is truly crazy. He sends a straight shot message to big nas n mobb that he had the balls to take the violence to the level that eventually killed him... freaking insane... after the hairs on my neck settled he stops to pray, his "hailmary," and adds 10 more bone chilling tracks to a classic that will live on forever...
Rap At Its Pinnacle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-10-07
I don't know what to say. Pac just goes into the studio and whips up a classic in like 7 days! Now that is what I call skill. Oh and might I add that this is easily the best rap album of all time! Pac was an amazing man he just got beter with every album (until his very unfortunate death). Every album he made while he was alive was a classic, he just had rap star written all over him. Its just such a huge shame that he died and we now have to put up with such garbage so called rappers like Ja Rule, Lil Jon, Nelly and Chingy. Onto the content of the album, there is 12 tracks, every one of them classic from The violent intro/Bomb First to the classic diss Against All Odds. During the album we have the dark yet emotional tracks Hail Mary and Blasphemy, the song for the ladies Just Like Daddy, the interesting Me And My Girlfriend where he talks to his gun like its his girlfriend, the weed smoking song Krazy, the sex song/Diss Toss It Up, the second California Love To Live And Die In L.A., the Life Of An Outlaw and Hold Ya Head and White Man'z World which bring back memories of his 1991-1995 era. If your a rap fan than you better have alredy copped this but if your new to rap than no questions, get money and run to the record store as fast as you can.
This Will Go Down In History As One Of The Best Ever.......2006-09-04
The last true release from 2pac a.k.a. Makaveli in my opinion on of the ten greatest rap albums of all time. The latter releases contain studio material not necessarily meant for release or retouched versions and remixes but this was a true release with every track meant to be heard. From beginning to end this is hit after hit after hit - put it on loop and let it play for days, weeks, months, years, - forever. It is that good.
Great album from the the G.O.A.T........2006-09-02
This album is unbelievably untouchable. You will never ever get tired of this album because the lyrics are so deep that you'll wonder why you listen to all the fake rappers today. Tupac clearly exhibits his intelligence and amazing talent on this album. Ratings of tracks:
1) Bomb First 9/10- Excellent intro. Tupac destroys his enemies lyrically with a killer beat. I would be scared if I was Biggie! This track would be a 10 but the Outlaw's weak talent weaken the song just a bit as usual.
2)Haily Mary 10/10 - One word:CLASSIC even if the outlaws don't complement pac well.
3) Toss it Up 7/10- Possibly the weakest song on the album. If you want a good club song to listen to by Pac, listen to How Do You Want It.
4) To Live and Die in L.A. 8/10- Awesome dedication to L.A. I like the lyrics but the background vocals and beat of the chorus keep me from giving this song a 10.
5)Blasphemy 10/10- Amazing song. So many biblical allusions that aren't readily understood. Very deep song. Its incredible that Pac came up with a song like this.
6)Life of an Outlaw 9/10- Excellent song with an excellent beat. I won't give it a 10 because of the Outlaws. However, I love Napoleon's verse since it complement's Pac's style.
7) Just like Daddy 8/10- The Outlaws do a decent job in this one. Pac shines as usual.
8) Krazy 10/10 - Amazing beat with amazing lyrics. Very emotional song that will touch anyone who hears it. Bad Azz does a great job in this song. I can listen to this song all day.
9) White Man'z World 10/10- The socially and politically aware Pac is back and once again reaches the emotional depths of people's hearts. Another classic.
10) Me and My Girlfriend 9/10- Excellent song with a very clever metaphor. The background phrases of the woman were very annoying. Still a great song.
11) Hold ya Head 10/10 - Excellent song that is underrated by many due to the widespread airtime of Keep Ya Head Up. This song is different because it addresses all people and not just black women.
12) Against All Odds 8/10- Biggie probably peed in his parents when he heard this one. Another amazing assault on Pac's enemies. Beat could have been better.
Overall: Get this album. You will never, ever get tired of it.

Best CD Ever!.......2006-02-07
In my opinion, this is the best hip hop/rap cd ever released. It's better than Paid In Full, Ready To Die, or Illmatic. Sure, those albums are all considered classics but this album is still better. It has so much truth and heart, how could it not be the best? Any rapper can use multisyllabe flows, or paint vivid descriptions, but few could speak from the heart like 2pac could. This album shows people that 2pac wasn't just the weary remorseful rapper on Me Against The World nor was he completely the thug rapper on All Eyez On Me. This a great example of the duality of man and how we all feel different feelings. Few rappers could so easily describe feeling sad to angry to in love to suicidal like 2pac could. This is what makes this album better than all other hip hop/rap albums released.

REMEMBER "2PAC Im sorry Makaveli".......2005-05-22
Tupac Shakur hmmmmm. Poet, writer, actor, artist, philosopher, and dopest rapper ever! This album is definitely the best rap album in history I bet.Every song is great and deep.Except of course toss it up,but thats one of the best songs. You will not soon be forgotten 2pac. Rest in peace.
Best Rap Cd Ever!!!???.......2003-11-21
When someone asks you what is the best Rap CD ever you prolly say the the newest CD that you got or downloaded. But think deeper and if your the true Rap fan then you know The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory is prolly the top rap CD of all time. All eyez on me is 2pac's 2nd best CD but you could put it in front because it is a double disc. All the songs on here and really deep and show the best side of tupac ever. Hail Mary is a classic as is bomb first. This is a rare Cd where you can listen to every song and not skip songs. All in all this is a great CD. This is a true piece of history, but the question is still up, is this the best rap CD of all time, Nas's Illmatic is a sicc CD, but there is a CD not a lot of people know about and that is, Brotha Lynch Hung Season Of Da Siccness which is a tie with tupacs 7 day theory CD. Check out the Season of da Siccness and you will be blown away, in my oppinion BLH is the best rapper out period, he is underground, but get his CD off amazon right now, what are you waiting for go and get it
Best hip-hop album, ever. Period........2003-08-28
Some people will say Nas's "Illmatic" is the best hip-hop album, or NWA, or something along that line. Even though those were good albums and raised the game up for its time - Nothing has made a more serious change to the rap game then this album here.
But you know why this album is special? Because it can't be copied. No other raper has tried to in ANY way reproduce/copy/expand anthing in this album. Because they can't. Not even Nas, Jay-Z, Eminem.. no rapper can even reach this level that this album stands on.
People often refer to this album as "its own pedistool" - it's just ranked in its own leauge, and it will always be there.
Heres a few reasons why, in my opinion:
1. This is the best production I have ever heard in any rap album. Period. Not even Dre could come close to something like this. The beats are raw - not overley done - not overley mastered and loud - and are just... raw. Hard. Eerie. Spooky. (Bomb First, Hail Mary, Life of an Outlaw, Against all Odds)
2. The lyrics are just awesome. Imagine "Illmatic" but at a whole new different level. The metaphors in this album are just incrediable (Me and my Girlfriend, Blasphemy). There intese, angry, and poetic at the same time. Makaveli in this first track, our-right calls out rappers. Saying they are phoney, and just need to leave the rap game before he puts them out. This man had honestly no fear. He would go at anyone - they were all fake in his eyes.
3. Like I said earlier in my review - nothing in this album can be reproduced. I have yet to hear any other rapper try to put out something this deep. Oh sure... there are some pretty intelligent rappers out there - but they are not emotionally deep like Pac was. This album was (and probably still is) WAY beyond its time. It was beyonds it time for 2pac, and beyonds it time for hip-hop in general. It's not a popular album. Its not a commercialised album either - Because this is an album that is way ahead of that. It's a personal album, that you have to listen to.
2 good.......2003-05-07
this album is dope period its probably pacs 2nd or 3rd best cd all the tracks are hot this is definitely a classic rap album if you dont even like pac that much you should still go cop this album then you will love him!
