This is a good CD .......2005-09-02
I got this CD earlier this year, and it is a good CD. Some of my favorite songs are You can Do it - Ice Cube, I don't know why, but Fried Day - Bizzy Bone , Good Friday - Big Timers ft. Mack 10, Friday - Kraizie Bone, Mammacita - Frost ft. Soopafly, and Don Cisco, Murder Murder - Eminem, and Money Stretch - Lil Zane
So-so CD.......2004-11-05
There are only a couple of songs I did like on this cd. I did enjoy Ice Cube and Aaliyah, but the rest of the cd left me cold. I do think that if you can just find the two songs and pay to download them, it would have been better! I suggest borrowing first from a friend and seeing if you actually like it first before you buy.
F*ck writin a title.......2004-05-12
This cd is lacking the mix like in the first one.
Pharoahe Monch rips this soundtrack (Horsemen!!!!!).......2004-01-30

Typical crappy rap soundtrack..........2003-02-21
This is your run-of-the-mill movie rap soundtrack. This one unites several rappers of multiple styles...there's West Coast, East Coast, Dirty South, and Latino on this CD. Unfortunately, the problem is that many of these tracks simply aren't that good...and yes, you guessed it, the lead single, 'You Can Do It', is the biggest offender. True, I'm very much into hardcore rap, but I still think I'm entitled to expect a bit more considering the caliber of the labels and artists that contributed to this soundtrack.
How the aforementioned Ice Cube track became such a big radio hit is simply beyond me, but the bottom line is that it's wack as hell. Following the commercial failure of 'War and Peace Vol. 1', it's obvious that Ice Cube is trying to leave his gangsta roots for a more mainstream-friendly sound, but it isn't working. After hearing the annoying beat and absolutely HORRIBLE hook featuring Ms. Toi, I quickly hit the fast-forward button.
Fortunately, the album is subsequently helped somewhat by the inclusion of something people have wanted for a long time - a reunion of the World's Most Dangerous Group (TM) in which Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, and Snoop Dogg (substituting for Eazy-E - RIP) proceed to reminisce on their earlier days. 'Chin Check', the new N.W.A. track, succeeds mostly in part due to its very simplicity, but also due to the natural union of the four rappers on the mike. They come off nicely.
There are some other good tracks on this album. The Eminem track 'Murder Murder' is pretty good, although it goes over-the-top more than a few times (remember that this was early-2000, and his style back then was still ultra-shockcore). 'Shaolin Worldwide', a very epic-sounding track by the Wu Tang Clan, is certainly quality although hardly original. And 'Mamacita', a collaborative track by Kid Frost, Don Cisco, Kurupt, and Soopafly, has a sweet Latino player flair.
Unfortunately, just about every other track is crap. Party-oriented Dirty South tracks such as Big Tymers'/Mack-10's 'Good Friday' and Lil' Zane's 'Money Stretch' are little more than radio fodder intended for a brief listen in the clubs. The same more-or-less applies to Vita's 'We Murderers Baby' (featuring Ja Rule) and Pharoahe Monch's 'Livin it Up'. 'Low Income' by Wyclef Jean might sound good at first, but comes off sounding too unpolished. Perhaps the most inane track on the whole album is Bizzy Bone's 'Fried Day', a twisted weed-smoking junkie's daydream. Sure, it's melodiously unique (like most stuff by Bone-Thugz-N-Harmony), but it's just too cheesy for anybody to listen to with a straight face - unless they're as high as Bizzy probably was when he wrote this track, of course.
I'll admit that I never bothered with Aaliyah's 'I Don't Wanna' or Toni Estes' 'Hot', so I'll reserve judgement of those tracks for people who are into that kind of stuff. I bought this soundtrack to hear rap, after all.
Overall, what you get is a generic rap soundtrack with one or two good tracks, but a general quality range of 'nothing special' to 'mediocre'. Unless you're an N.W.A. fan interested in hearing the reunion song, you can certainly do a lot better than the 'Next Friday' soundtrack.

This cd sucks hardbody. The songs in the movie, is not on the soundtrack. WTF is up with that? Dont buy this, cuz its wack. Thats one reason. 2) Cuz its a westcoast album, the settin of the movie is west coast but it doesn't sound westcoast at all. I wanna hear that old westcoast sound.
The Song for Jo.......2006-05-06
The name of the song is "Candy" by Foxy Brown. Now what is the song playing that sounds like Tribe Called Quest right after that one? Anyone, anyone?
PLEASE HELP ME I NEED THE NAME OF THAT SONG PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-03-01
There is one song playing exactly when the PARTY is going on and Mini Pimp comes in and introduces some hot sort of black chicks to Ice cube, a song saying something about I taste you some Candy or something like that, Does ANYBODY PLEASE KNOW THE NAME OF THAT DAMN SONG,???????
thanks, gracias
Alright .......2005-09-02
The music is good, but I have the version with the parental advisory warning and some of the content is edited. Tracks 7 and 13 you could play on the radio, (the track listing on the actual CD is different than what's shown on the internet). The rest of the songs, all the cuss words and such are still there, but when they talk about weed, etc. it's edited. The editing is my only complaint though, the songs really are good.
Hey, on the case it says place CD in your CD rom drive to access special features. My CD must be a dud because I put it in and it just plays the music on the CD. Would anybody happen to know what the special features are?
cd review.......2005-03-01

Almost Perfect..... (4 Stars).......2004-10-25
Like the previous reviewer said, this album is pretty much perfect until you get to track 10, the "Theme From The Jefferons". While classic TV themes don't come much better than that and I DO love the theme, it feels so out of place on this album. When you're zoning out to all of these classic tracks, track 10 seems to jerk you right out of your daydream. Other than that, there's nothing bad about this album. I rated it lower than 5 because I was never a big fan of "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus & Chaka Khan, "You Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate, or "Fame" by David Bowie. They're good songs, but I'm not crazy about them. But that's just my opinion. Other people will tell you that they are classic songs, and they are probably right, but I just don't feel them. Aside from those songs though, the rest are timeless classics. If you don't have these songs in your collection by now (which you should), then go get this album.
Standout Tracks: Riding High, Bad Luck, Chase Me, In The Mood (My Favorite), Funky Worm, and Juicy Fruit
My short review.......2001-10-30
I love old school funk and disco, and this CD definitely filled my high. Song after song is great with the exception of one small thing: what in the world made the producers put the theme song to The Jeffersons on this soundtrack!? You pop the CD in and the songs just flow and scoop you up into the old school mix, catching you up into an old school frenzy...then here comes track #10, The Jeffersons, and the high just kind of goes down a bit. I like the theme song but it has no place here on the soundtrack. A much better selection would have been a song that was played in the movie itself, I don't know who it is or what it's called, but it was sampled by Heavy D in his song "Big Tyme." That song should have been on this soundtrack. But all the other tracks make this CD shine, so I still rate it as 5 stars.
Excellent choice of old school songs.......2000-07-19
Although I am more of an old school ballad fan, Ice Cube and company picked an excellent selection of old school songs for the "Old School: Next Friday Soundtrack." This CD has an array of old school funk jams on it. I have this movie on DVD and I'm glad that I was able to get all the old school songs on one CD instead of having to buy all the different greatest hits compilations or the separate CDs of each of these artists. My personal favorites on this CD are Con Funk Shun's "Chase Me", Gap Band's "You Dropped The Bomb On Me", Mtume's "Juicy Fruit", Tyrone Davis' "In The Mood", and Faze-O's "Riding High". Also, for any hip hop fans you get Whodini's "Friends" which is definitely a hip hop classic. Owning this CD is a must for an old school music fan like me, especially if you don't have these songs in your CD collection.
Kicking it with Old School.......2000-06-14
I really liked the Next Friday album, because it reminds me where some of our music orginated. Old School music has rhythm and beat that always want to make you dance. No matter how young or how old you may be, the music on this album is sure to bring you back some good memories.
The first one was better.......2000-06-14
I liked a few of the songs on the soundtrack, but the first "Friday" soundtrack was better. There were more hip hop and dance songs on the last soundtrack and I think that this soundtrack could have a few more newer songs. I still listen to the last sound track and the new one I don't really know if would buy.
