Like a lots of things in life, it's only with the passing of time that you learn to really appreciate things. Bid Daddy Kane had the misfortune to be in his prime in the Golden age of Hip Hop, with the likes of Rakim, LL Cool J, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, as his peers. Oh for a BDK now. This was his last release for Cold Chillin', and after this time, he was M.I.A. But what a CD to sign off with. This CD, too my mind, also highlights his weakness, wanting to a rapping about love, when most of his fans wanted him to be hardcore (listen to the `Prelude', where the great man addresses the situation himself) This CD is very hit & miss, but it showcases a man at the peak of his abilities. The lead single was this CD was' How U get a record deal'; with a very catchy video (check out you tube!) One of the highlights of this CD is' The Beef is on' which I can only describe as RUFF, true vintage Kane, in gangster mode. .'Stop Shammin' deals with the fakeness in the hip hop music industry (still relevant today!), whilst his dancers, Scoob & Scrap get on the mic on the afore mentioned `Here comes Kane, Scoob & Scrap'. Any fan of BDK should have this in their collection, and witness a true hip-hop GREAT.

4 out of 5 stars Looks Like a Job For......One of the best of all time!!.......2007-04-03

You ask most real hiphop fans to name the best that did it on the mic and alot of the time you'll hear Kane being mentioned amongst the list. His rapid fire delivery added to his witty lyricism and his overall charisma over the ill beats captivated heads from the second he gripped the mic. After releaseing classics such as "Long Live The Kane" and "Its A Big Daddy Thing" and 2 alright follow ups he resurfaced with this awesome album. From the opening title track to the smooth outro it bumps along nicely with a great mixture of his masterful wordplay, ill metaphors ("my rhymes are like spandex, they make any a** seem good")and smooth tracks like "Very Special" and "Give It To Me". The highlights for me were when Kane ripped tracks apart with fierce flows on tracks like "Looks Like A Job For...", "How U Get A Record Deal?", "Chocolate City", "Rest In Peace", "Ni**az Never Learn" and "Nuff Respect(remix)". 2 other standouts were the brilliant story orientated "The Beef Is On" and the message filled "Stop Shammin'". Another plus for this album was the versatile, hard, bass heavy production from Easy Moe Dee, Trackmasterz (before the went mainstream) and Kane himself. The only 2 weak tracks in my opinion were "Brother Man,Brother Man" and "Very Special", other than that its excellent, even if its sounds alittle bit dated at times.

If your down with kane and you don't have this cd what are you doing reading this? This cd is a classic.

5 out of 5 stars LOOKS LIKE A JOB FOR TAREVA!.......2003-05-10

Tareva Henderson first came to my attention when she was a regular on Crook and Chase "Music City Tonight" on the old TNN.
She also was a regular on the daytime "Crook and Chase" show on the same network where she sang "By Request". This album came out during that time period. Tareva has a powerful and a quality "voice" that fits "country" and "pop" and "rock & roll".
The single from this CD "Walk and Don't Walk (At The Corner Of)" is a classic country tune on a par with George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today" or LeeAnn Rimes "Blue". It's a powerful song about leaving. . . and looking back with a wistful hope against hope that one would change their mind.
The "Tribute Medley" is a classic piece of work in itself. In it she sings a bit of Conway Twitty's "It's Only Make-Believe" -- she can knock you out of your socks when she sings the complete song. . . it's a shame that she only includes this tiny bit in the medley. She ends this with a fiddle-piece in tribute to her father. . . if you love "fiddle" you'll love this ending to the album and regret that you can't "loop" it and keep it playing over and over again.
tareva is a tremendous talent and song-stylist. It's sad that there's not more recordings available from her . . . yet! I hope that there's much much more to come and not too long to have to wait for it. Thanks for this album of music Tareva and thanks for keeping the music playing in our lives.

5 out of 5 stars No Contest---Country's Best!.......2000-07-18

This incredible release from the multi-talented singer/songwriter/guitarist/pianist is one of those albums that is great to listen to on long drives. I have seen this girl perform at Fan Fair in Nashville over the last five years --she is the real deal kids! She sounds even better live. I firmly believe that Tareva has the strongest voice in Country! Her songwriting is just as impressive, and it's not just me, she won a prestigious award from the song writer's guild for "Dance With Me" (track 7). You don't have to skip tracks on this release, just let the magic flow and set your stereo to the repeat function, because you'll keep playing it over anyway. Every song is a gem. This is one artist destined for stardom. Do yourself a favor, don't wait, get this release now!

4 out of 5 stars Don't call it a comeback, he never fell off.......2006-03-06

Kane came back after his '91 album . . . I have to say this is one of his strongest albums, maybe after his first two. He's still hitting the ryhmes right, puns, metaphors etc. People who dogg his later 90's rhyme need to re-think, I bet these the people who have their mums buying them the Ja Rule's, Kanye's and Eminem's of the world. Album worth buying! "Your god damn right you should, coz my rhymes are like spandex, they make any ass seem good!" What rapper would say today hey?? Solid album

this is okay kane was trying to fit in the whole gangster rap thing which took over by 93 and like other rappers he looked foolish in the end the same mistake hammer, mc lyte, and others made still if you feel big daddy kane and love old school rap cop it.

5 out of 5 stars One of tha Best Kane's Albums.......2002-08-27

The Big Daddy Kane's 5'th album is different from his others, it made with the hardcore New York flava. No more dance melodies, fast old school hip hop rhymes, just strictly raw hardcore. If you like Show & AG's "Goodfellas" and Black Moon's "Enta Da Stage" - U'LL LOVE IT. Trust me!
