SPG makes incredible series of hard to get dance music on CD, but they never keep them going long enough. With this series, you only get 3 volumes. All 12" versions of 80s dance hits. Track times:

3. living on video (5:55) (this is the original mix--I think the remix is much better. That verision is on the compilation "Hit That Perfect Beat")

If I was to judge this CD simply on the names of the songs, it'd get a 3. Some of these songs really aren't very good. However, all of these songs appear to be the original extended 12" versions of these songs. This version of Living on Video is IMO the best version out there, and is pretty hard to find. Obsession (6:00), Rockit (5:19), and You Spin Me (8:01!) also stand out here. If you like even half of the listed songs on this CD then for the low price this is a steal.

If you went out in the eighties to where most people wore broaches and pearls and mostly black, chances are you heard these songs. You certainly did not hear some of them on the radio. For the money, this is a great chance to own some of the songs stored in the back of your subconscious with those twenty-odd madonna bracelets.

I loved this CD when I first got it in 1992. It has some of the best dance songs from the early 90's. This CD always made me dance and it will always have a place in my CD collection. If ever in the mood for some good old East Coast dance music this CD is the one to buy.

What's the deal?!?!?!?!?!
All the sample soundbytes are completely wrong...
they do not correlate with the titles you've listed here.
I do love all these jams -- I grew-up w/ them back in Cali.
But it's irresponsible and very misleading to market the WRONG product!!!
Don't buy this without contacting the Z-Shop seller personally. Seriously!!!

      Yes, the lyrics are lame and the beats are slow and bassic compared to the hyped-up modern-electro sound. But this outstanding collection of old-school rap is where it all came from. If you were or remain to be a fan of this genre or if you are simply looking to educate yourself about the roots of rap, then this collection is for you. I would also highly recommend Volume 2 and Volume 3 of this series (if you can find them - they are both out of print).
