T.I. may take alter-egotism to new heights on T.I. vs. T.I.P., an album that's essentially a spinoff of a song (Trap Muzik's psychologically charged "T.I. vs. T.I.P."), but few artists have been known to spin something so compelling out of a concept so silly. T.I.P. is the hoodie-wearing hustler we get to know in the first part of this exceptionally long disc--he curses and boasts behind the beats with a lazy bravado that manages to be both slouchy and sharp (check out "Da Dopeman," "Watch What You Say" featuring a fired-up Jay-Z, and "You Know What It is," with Wyclef), and T.I. is the right-minded tycoon-type who takes over for a while in act two. As smooth an operator as T.I. is--"Show It to Me," featuring Nelly, finds its groove and never lets up--he's more compelling in the grittier parts of the disc, including a four-song final act in which the two halves of his deeply divided personality square off. "Respect This Hustle," the M.C. commands on the next-to-last track; detractors will try not to, citing the slightness of his concept. T.I. is at the top of his game, though, and he makes it heard. --Tammy La Gorce

KING!!.......2007-07-24
I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF T.I. & T.I.P.
I BELIEVE IT WAS BRILLANT OF HIM TO BRING OUT BOTH PERSONAILITES AND PLACE THEM ON ONE CD!!
I LOVE IT...HE IS TRULY THE KING OF THE SOUTH!!
NOT THE KING.......2007-07-22
NOT THIS TIME. THIS CD WAS NOT WORTH THE HYPE. I WAITED FOR THE RELEASE DATE AND PURCHASED THE CD THAT MORNING. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING IT EVER SINCE WAITING FOR IT TO GROW ON ME BUT IT HASN'T. THERE ARE THREE SONGS THAT I REALLY LIKE BUT THAT IS IT. T.I. IS GONNA SELL REGARDLESS, HE HAS ALREADY ESTABLISHED HIS SELF SO HE HAS ROOM FOR MISTAKES AND THIS CD WAS JUST THAT , A MISTAKE. HE WILL HAVE 1 MORE BIG SINGLE OFF OF THIS CD, MAYBE 2 BUT THAT'S IT. I LIKE T.I. BUT THIS ONE DIDN'T DO IT FOR ME.
Ok.......2007-07-21
I enjoyed King a lot more than this album but it's definitely grown on me.
The King Is Back Again!.......2007-07-20
TI does it again. This album is hot. The lyrics are consistently nice and the beats are all bangers. The content is a real take on the street life and what goes on in the rap industry. And the break down was nice too. He gives each alter ego a chance to do their thing and then mixes it up in the end. There is not one bad song on the album, its one of those that you can play all the way through. Even the skits are well done and add some substance to the album. They do a great job of showing the "conflict" of TI. Overall, Id definitely say this album is a must have. The best rap album out so far this Summer. Hot Tracks: Raw, Touch Down, Tell Em I Said That
just aight.......2007-07-19
no matter what name or alter ego T.I. goes by or does, he just doesn't have the rapping skills to pull off the type of undertakings he aspires to. thus far in his career beats and Production have moved me far more than what T.I. has put out. he is conssitant with staying to a formula that has worked and I don't expect him to change anytime soon. despite name Artists and Producers on board here this Album is just aight. he is the "IT" Cat of the moment in Rap with Films,Endoresements,tv,(Espn plays his songs)etc... but on his albums i just don't get all the hype. neither Person on this album sounds that much different from the other.

It's hard to catch a break when you're Fabolous. Though his skills as a manufacturer of blazing-hot street bangers and pop-crossover hits have not gone unnoticed by the hip-hop hype machine, the Brooklyn rapper hasn't come close to matching 50-Cent and similarly gifted superstars in the sales department. Which accounts for his decision, with album No. 4, to do somethin' about it. From Nothin' to Somethin' rounds up a massive herd of talent--Akon is here, and so are Swiss Beatz, Rihanna, Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Lloyd, Junior Reid, Ne-Yo, and T-Pain. It's a little hard to locate Fabo on "Change Up," the Akon track, but otherwise he goes about spreading his Fabolousness throughout: "Diamonds," a bling-centric track with Jeezy, benefits from a borrowed take-it-easy Southern drawl, "Brooklyn" brings it home for New York with a spirit seldom seen since the East Coast/West Coast war was at its nastiest, and "Return of the Hustle" solidifies a career built on street cred with an asphalt-hot beat. Start to finish, but especially on the Timbaland-helmed "Make Me Better," production is top-notch. If there's a disc that can restore the fabulousness to being Fabolous, Somethin' is it. --Tammy La Gorce

Best Cd Yet.......2007-07-19
I got this cd for the song Make me Betta, but the whole cd is great, I highly recommend this cd to anyone.
LOSO DOES IT AGAIN.......2007-07-19
I would have have to say I was pretty happy with this album. Probably not his best work, but definitely worth buying. From nothing to something definitely seems like it is intended to be a bit more commercial sounding than his last album.
Fab's has another hit.......2007-07-12
Don't know why people are giving this low stars if you don't like it then don't worry about it. Listen to the classic rap albums all day and cry about the new hip pop that is out today. Cry to yourself though and don't be bitter about Fabolous new album because it is good hip pop album. I recommend buying this hip pop album it is worth it. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Decent.......2007-07-11
Fabolous's 4th album is "From Nothin To Somethin". What I've always noticed about fab is that even though he tries to sound mainstream a lot he is still very underrated. Fabolous is right in same category as Trick Daddy & Mystikal. They can make good songs but their albums never really blow you away or make you say wow that's some tight s**t right there.
"From Nothin To Somethin" is a 15 track release with collaborations on all but 2 songs.
The album gets off to a pretty good start with "From Nothin To Somethin Intro", a decent opener that kind of sounds like a freestyle. the beat is crazy. And if the song was a little bit longer instead of just being an intro it would probably be one of the better songs on here. This album is basically the typical rap album these days. You got the songs where he constatly brags about himself ("Yep, I'm Back", "I'm The Man" feat. Red Cafe & "Jokes On You" feat. Pusha-T of The Clipse). As well as the songs for the ladies ("Baby Don't Go" feat. T-Pain, "Make Me Better" feat. NE-YO, "First Time" feat. Rihanna & "Real Playa Like" feat. Lloyd). You got the club bangers ("Diamonds" feat. Young Jeezy & "Return Of The Hustle" feat. Swizz Beatz). "Brooklyn" feat. Jay-Z & Uncle Murda has a great beat. But the hook is very dissapointing. It reminds me of "New York S**t" from Busta Rhymes's cd The Big Bang. The standout track for me is "Gangsta Don't Play" feat. Junior Reid. The beat is tight and Fab and J Reid deliver a solid street track. The only two songs that Fabolous really shows any hunger on are "Change Up" feat. Akon and the deep track "What Should I Do" feat. Lil Mo. And the bonus track "This Is Family" feat. Ransom, Freck Billionaire, Red Cafe, Joe Budden & Paul Cain is a solid posse cut. This album will go platinum but it isn't album of the year material.
My Top 5
1. "Real Playa Like" feat. Lloyd
2. "Diamonds" feat. Young Jeezy
3. "Change Up" feat. Akon
4. "Return Of The Hustle" feat. Swizz Beatz
5. "Make Me Better" feat. NE-YO
Honorable mention tracks
- "Gangsta Don't Play" feat. Junior Reid
- "Brooklyn" feat. Jay-Z & Uncle Murda
- "What Should I Do" feat. Lil Mo
From Nothin' To Somethin'.......2007-07-10
Definitely not his best but trust me it will grow on you. If you're a real Fab fan u will be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. The problem with this album is not a lack of features got em (Lloyd, T-Pain, Akon, Jay-Z, Ne-yo, Red Cafe, Rihanna) or hot beatz got em (Just Blaze, Swizz Beatz etc.) but a lack of hooks. Brooklyn w/ Jay-Z was especially disappointing for that reason. But The cd does have at least 7 pretty good tracks and who can deny the kid with the Grammy grin? Hope this helps. Najwa >:

It doesn't happen much, but there are times when the departure of a group's most prominent player inspires the rest of the act to get seriously bizzy. Strength & Love, a tight disc that skitters from track to shiny track with imagination and a renewed sense of rap's widened boundaries, makes Bone Thugs-N-Harmony a prime example. Without Bizzy Bone to layer a drizzle of Midwestern vocal weirdness over their sound, Layzie, Krayzie, and Wish Bone call in a crew of hard-hitting helpers: Akon delivers twice, first on the melting "I Tried" and again on the weepy "Never Forget Me," Mariah Carey flits through "Lil Love" alongside Bow Wow, and Twista and Yolanda Adams also make reputation-enhancing appearances (Twista by barreling through "C-Town" at breakneck speed and Adams by giving it up gorgeously for God on "Order My Steps (Dear Lord)"). Best of all about this proud-making comeback disc is its clever use of samples: "Wind Blow" pins the Fleetwood Mac chestnut "The Chain" down to urban pavement without wrecking its spirit, and the smartly produced "The Streets" updates the vibe of Bobby Womack's timeless "Across 110th Street" while preserving its grit-covered class. --Tammy La Gorce

OK .......2007-07-13
I was a bit disapointed because there are only two or three songs on the CD that I play. I guess my expectations were too high and too reminiscent of their old stuff. My son plays it non stop, hence the reason 3 stars!
Their best since The Art Of War.......2007-07-08
To me,this is the Bone cd is the best since the Art Of War. I liked some tracks off of Resurrection, and Thug Stories was the best cd in a long time, but this tops both of those albums with no problem at all. I like every track on here except for 2 of them. Tha Bone boys are back and they brought they fire flow that they were known for in the begining!!!
If you still doubt this groups talent then listen to the album opener Flow Motion...makes my jaw drop every time that I hear that track!
Bump In The trunk should become another Bone classic. They actually make "Wind Blow" work 100%! The first single is a sad song about trying in life, but also kind of inspirational at the same time. C-Town with Twista is awesome, everyone tears their verse up! 9mm and Gun Blast remind me of them 'ole Bone Boys classicks!!!
If you ever been a fan of Bone, then pick this classick up! Bone boys are back 110%!

An indispensable and definitive collection showcasing the passionate genius of the late rapper. The album's nonchronological sequence highlights the contradictory impulses that made Tupac's music so commanding; the 21 well-loved "hits," some slightly reedited for legal reasons, are accompanied by four previously unheard songs. Of the new material, the raw-sounding "God Bless the Dead" has been the subject of the most speculation, owing to its subject matter: a eulogizing of the late Notorious B.I.G.--a mysterious feat, since Tupac was killed six months before Biggie. And, making its first proper appearance on a Tupac album, the B-side "Hit 'Em Up" stands as the most intense outburst of pure venomous rage ever captured on tape. Whether he's waxing political, philosophical, or just plain paranoid, Tupac's empathetic, charismatic style remains unmatched. --Charley Gothic

good intro.......2007-04-24
if you don't have any 2pac albums, this is a perfect start. The songs are very close to what I would have picked for a greatest hits.
If you really like 2pac and rap, I would say skip this and buy each of his cd's instead. There still is some great material from him not on this CD
Every track is excellent, but there are some Missing.......2007-04-10
Bad things don't exist on this album, every trakc is Pac at his finest. However there are so many more that should be on here, like Pain (which was omitted from Above The Rim and can't be found anywhere), F*ck The World, Pour Out A Little Liquor, and tons more!!! But yes the music is all amazing with my favourite tracks being
Disc 1:
1. Keep Ya Head Up - Incredible way to start the album
2. God Bless The Dead - Whether its about Notorious B.I.G. or not the song is amazing with a very creepy beat
3. Me Against The World - Very introspective
4. So Many Tears - Pac's darkest song ever
5. Hit Em Up - All my god!!! Calling this a classic diss to me is an understatement, even those other dudes ripped Bad Boy. By far the greatest diss song ever
Disc 2:
1. Brenda's Got A Baby - Was this a true story? on the music video that was on my resurrection DVD it said "Based on a true story" but someone else say it was made up. Well its a great song anyway
2. I Ain't Mad At Cha - Amazing Daz production and lyrics
3. Changes - Another very introspective track with a fantastic piano beat
4. Dear Mama - My absolute favourite Pac song ever!!! As you know, one of the reasons why many consider Pac the best rapper ever is because no one else could make a song like this. Look at 21 Questions by 50 Cent for example, he just sounds corny, this song is genious
5. Heartz Of Men - Some prime Pac lyricism with an excellent DJ Quik beat
Peace and Rest in peace to
Tupac Amaru Shakur: 1971-1996 (We all miss ya)
2 Pac Forever.......2007-04-04
This CD has to be a part of your collection if you dare to call yourself a Tupac fan. Tupac Shakur is not easily dismissed when it comes to music of the century. Yeah I said music, not just "rap" music. Music is felt and moves the listener, putting it in a category is not what qualifies it. Nothin but Cali Love for my homie !!!!!!! For all you haters, listen and learn how its done on the real.
Pac's Life.......2007-02-07
Tupac Shakur 1971-1996 was one of the pioneers for West Coast Gangsta Rap in the 90's and despite being a fantastic MC he got just as much time in the spotlight for his lifestyle, cocky attitute, controvercial behavior, problems with the law and later his premature death. Many of his early songs were thugish gangsta anthems with explicit lyrics and at times it felt like Pac got trapped under that particular charachter, but that's only one side of the story. He portaited an ideal of a young stuggling black male with a troubled past that wouldn't get away from him. From time to time there were also songs that dealt with deeper subject like unwanted pregnancy of a young girl on "Brenda's Got a Baby" Friendship "If My Home Calls", Respect For Women on "Keep Ya Head Up" and premature deaths of homies on "Life Goes On". Tupac's versability and undpredictable behavior was fascinating and his sometimes very emotional sides aswell. He was far from the one-dimensional thug as the media wanted to make him. However, after two successful solo albums Tupac was sent to jail after sexual assault on a fan. While in Jail he started reflecting over his life and eventually his third album was penned, "Me Against the World" a very deep, serious and sincere album. Songs like, the title track, "If I Die 2 Nite", "Tempations", "So Many Tears" and ofcourse the touching tribute to his mother "Dear Mama". It debuted at #1 on the album charts making Tupac the first artist in Prison to top the charts. Perhaps it was also his greatest album too. Some fans however, didn't apreciate the changed Tupac and when his forth album "All Eyez On Me" was finally released it was a back 2 back album that mostly dealt with issues that made 2pac a star back in the day. It was a huge commercial success with hits like the westcoast anthem "California Love", "How Do You Want It" "I Ain't Mad At Cha" and "Heartz of Men". It was also the first ever double album in Hip Hop, making it an even bigger ambition. He also enjoyed great success with acting, other then starring against Janet Jackson in "Poetic Justice" in 1993, he was also making a few films later on. Sadly Tupac was shot to death in a drive by shooting in September 1996 and this ultimately led to an even bigger legacy of an Hip Hop soldier dying as an martyr, and rumours started popping up that he wasn't really dead, Considering there was and still is loads on unreleased material. And who killed Tupac, was it Suge Knight that was scared he would abandon his label? or was it a vendetta from East Coast Rappers?, or was it an old feud from somewhere else?. When Tupac died he was probably the greatest rapper alive, both enormously popular, controvercial and equally good writer and MC. He did use alot of samples to his music though and his lifestyle was a contributing factor to his legacy but he was a magnificient artist that sadly left us too soon. Like some people mentioned, this "Greeatest Hits" collection was released by Death Row and some minor hits weren't included, however you get most of the important hits and with 25 songs on this doubles album you shouldn't be dissapointed. Remember, 2pac was a very productive musician and released countless of singles and having them all included would make this album too long. Overall, Great Collection that captures his best moments. Rest In Peace.
Oh My God.......2006-12-20
Thomas E Burn's comment was the most ignorant thing i've ever heard in my life. [...] who do you think gives a [...] about your worthless opinion? That's the problem with amazon, its open for losers like this guy to post completely useless opinions. How many people do you think there are on this site who actually agree with you? You seriously don't know how silly you look with a review (if you call it that)like that. No one cares if you don't like it but don't come on here and write a pathetic review that we just laugh at.
Wow I loved this album. Just got all the essentials, I didn't own any of 2pac's records before i got this, but now i am a massive fan. They don't call it greatest hits for nothing!!! I love every track, the man was a friggin genious. He really did a great job with his music, every song you get something different. I could honestly listen to this all day. Picking my favourite is very hard but i'd have to say Dear Mama, he made songs everyone could relate to,it was just amazing. Don't sleep on this one, highly HIGHLY recommended.

The themes may be familiar, but the spirit is fresh: Working with his United Streets D-Boys of America crew, Young Jeezy finds his flow on Cold Summer and has no compunction about settling into it, even when that means his compadres Slick Pulla and Blood Raw get bumped to the side of the beat. From the hot, hooky "White Chick" (street code for cocaine, despite all the shout-outs to Christina Aguilera) to the bangin' second single "Corporate Thuggin'," this is Jeezy's baby--introspective, Jeez-ified joints like "I Keep Tellin' Myself" and "Live My Life" lay street life out for close inspection, and "Check" and "Focus" chug along to characteristically unstoppable choruses. Slick Pulla and Blood Raw step up most notably on "Get It Up" (Pulla) and "Respect the Shield" (Raw), and they give off an energy Jeezy clearly coasts on; overall, though, the title gets it right. Jeezy's doing the presenting here--he's a cool, capable leader in a unit whose players don't yet equal him, but probably will in the space of a few mixtapes. --Tammy La Gorce
Customer Reviews:
Young Jeezy presents U.S.D.A.: Hot Winter.......2007-07-23
We all know who Jeezy is and what were going to get from him so let me enlighten you on the other two members: Slick Pulla and Blood Raw.
Slick Pulla: Prior to this I've heard him on some mixtapes. Even though his rhymes were mediocre he gave Jeezy a run for his money but on here his rhymes are subpar to say the least.
Blood Raw: The worst rap clone in rap history next to The Realest(2pac clone) and Drag-on(DMX's mini me)! He sounds like Snagglepuss and rhymes like Jeezy. Just pitiful. Since Jeezy wants to sign clones he might as well bury the hatchet with his equally wack archrival Gucci Womane and sign him. There are only two track that are worth mentioning Check is the best song on here and Ride Tonight is okay. The first single White Girl is so stupid one has to wonder how anybody can call it a banger plus the hook is just as silly as the song itself. Classic examples of beatwasting is exhibited on Corporate Thuggin, Get It Up and Focus as all three bust some suspect verses over those dope beats. The original version of Go Getta was nothing to brag about but its better than the lackluster remix with Jadakiss(who had the only decent verse on the track). I Keep Tellin Myself, Pam and Quickie should have been found their way into the studio trash can like this mixtape. Bottom Line: Cold Summer is one of the worst releases of 2007. Young Jeezy, Slick Pulla and Blood Raw busts below average rhymes over dope production(with a few exceptions on the production part) and its safe to say that Jeezy is only going to get worse. Just avoid what comes out of this camp like a rabid dog.
USDA: Hot Summer!!!.......2007-07-06
To eloborate on C. Allen's review... the tracks on this album are bangin'. Coming out of ATL, its refreshing to hear an album that doesnt have a dance to match every freakin song. Young Jeezy successfully kept the same winning formula from his debut album with USDA. He still keeps it as street on this album as he did with his underground mixtapes like "I Am The Street Dream" & "Snowman."
I heard he has a mixtape with Fabolous coming out called "When The North & South Collide Part 2"...should be a banger!!!
Almost got it.......2007-07-04
I gave this a 5 star rating based on the fact it is a mixtape and not an album. If it was an album I would have given it 4 stars but that's besides the point. The USDA did their thing on this album and I'm happy Jeezy introduced them to the public on a commercial standpoint. Like all of other Jeezy related material, there is some solid production. If your not familiar with Jeezy or what he's about then the content of this mixtape may be over your head. Besides that, Jeezy drops some very good verses. Slick and Bloodraw need a little more time to develop.
Some songs I preferred were:
12. I Keep Tellin' Myself, 09. Live My Life, 07. Pam, and 05. Corporate Thuggin'.
YESS SIR!.......2007-06-11
Y.G. iz my dogg on tha real, his beats and lyrics be madd ill-matic, when I heard tha first track I just knew It guna be off tha hook, if u ain't got it now...then wut tha hell r u doin!?!
As a true jeezy fan I give this garbage 2 stars.......2007-06-08
Are you guys serious?!?!?! How can you rate this piece of junk of a cd anything higher than a 2. I am not hating on them, just being honest. There isn't one song on this cd where I caould listen to the whole thing. Jeezy has fell off. If want to hear some real Jeezy music before he got saturated with mainstream, listen to Thug Motivation 101, Boyz N Da Hood album, and the DJ Drama Trap or Die Mixtape.

Despite the number of guests on hand, Dr. Dre's decade-/century-/millennium-ending sequel to The Chronic is, like its predecessor, less a stack of posse cuts and more an elegantly seamless work from West Coast hip-hop's premier auteur. Deliberately cinematic in everything from its mix of moods to dramatic musical surges, 2001 is Dre's assessment of the gangsta life in medium shots. No longer fully immersed in violence and random sex, yet aware of their attraction, he often lets his guests blow steam about whatever's on their minds. When he takes stock of gangbanging circa late '99, though, he drops his neutral tone; he even provides another half-joking but stern warning to protégé Eminem on "What's the Difference." Between his discovery of Slim Shady, visits from old pal Snoop Dogg, and, most of all, the masterful sound and flow of this CD, Dre should shut down all talk of his supposed irrelevance. --Rickey Wright

Propelling gangsta rap into the new millennium..........2007-05-14
By 1999, Dr. Dre had gained the status of being one of hip hop's most important pioneers both as a rapper and a producer, the man behind such hip hop classics as Straight Outta Compton, Doggystyle, and his own trendsetting debut The Chronic. At this point, he was already moving past the genre of g-funk that he had helped establish seven years earlier, instead focusing on his new Aftermath Records and promoting new artists like Eminem. On "2001," Dre returns with a vengeance, transforming the sound of west coast hip hop once again. On The Chronic, Dre pioneered the smooth, laidback, rolling and woozy hip hop sound of g-funk, which would be relentlessly imitated for the next decade. So with this album, Dre reestablishes himself as a musical genius, defining a whole new style of west coast rap that set the bar for the coming years. Gone are the lovable slow hollow basslines and whining synths, the female vocalists, and the extensive p-funk samples, in favor of a fast, angrier sound. The beats on "2001" are creative and original, musically the west coast's most important album of the last decade. The beats are more electronic and futuristic sounding, they are upbeat and more menacing. A deeper listen shows just how rich the productions are musically; the electronic instrumentals and thumping bass are very catchy and addictive. Even the skits have great beats. Lyrically, Dre and his crew of LA rappers are furious and explicit, full of threats, gang-throwing, and gun talk. Like on The Chronic, almost every song is sort of a posse-cut, and the frequently featured guests include Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Eminem, Kurupt, and Hitman, as well as single cameos by numerous others. The verses are not for the weak at heart, but this is gangsta rap at its most provocative and entertaining. The consistency is quite admirable, there's no slow songs or any odd cuts, just straight hardcore the whole time. You know what a classic this is because every single song is so recognizable, I've heard at least half of these songs on the radio at one point or another, they're such epic anthems. Overall "2001" is an incredibly influential album and is tons of fun to listen to.
Following an intro, the album begins with "The Watcher," an eerie production featuring Knocturnal, a great start. Dre shows his dark sense of humor over a droopy, dark musical backing on "F... You," featuring partner-in-crime Snoop Dogg and Devin the Dude. This is followed by the absolutely classic "Still D.R.E.," one of his discography's finest songs. The beat is incredible, a hard-hitting bass heavy groove, and Snoop and Dre both spit great verses, asserting they remain the same gangstas from the early-90s, this song's a true anthem. "Big Egos" is a memorable, depressed collaboration with Hitman. My favorite song is "Xxplosive." This beat is absolutely incredible, one of my favorites of all time. The blippy instrumental and the head-nodding bass are perfect, it's just so catchy. Nate Dogg and Kurupt both make inspired appearances on this hip hop classic. The furious "What's the Difference" has a very well known beat and threatening lyrics from Dre, Xzibit, and Eminem. The shorter "Lightspeed" showcases some space-age production. "Forgot About Dre" is the next classic, an infamous Eminem collaboration that immediately became an anthem. An incredible beat is covered with some of Dre and Em's angriest lyrics. Both lyrically and musically, this song embodies the entire album's quality, establishing a new force in rap. This is followed by the rap standard "The Next Episode," arguably Dre's most famous single. The thumping, upbeat track has one of the most well-known instrumentals and simply fun rhymes from Dre and Snoop, giving way to Nate Dogg's classic "Holdup!" cadence. "Let's Get High" is fast and memorable, and the dreary "B... N..." is another unique collabo. "Murder Inc." is a chilling narrative over an equally scary beat. The posse cut "Some LA N..." brings together west coast legends King Tee, MC Ren, Xzibit, and Knocturnal for one of the album's best songs lyrically. The unforgettable "Housewife" has an infectious beat and an inescapable hook, this song also appears on Kurupt's album Tha Streetz Iz a Mutha. The simple yet satisfying "Ackrite" precedes the lovable "Bang Bang," a gangsta anthem. The incessant gunshots and chanting are awesome. The album ends with the wonderful "The Message," a conscious track dedicated to Dre's late brother. The sad lyrics are supported by music and vocals to match.
"2001" is one of the most important albums of the last decade, breaking the mold and reinventing the sound of west coast hip hop. Dre once again proves his musical genius, and this album is a consistent and inventive masterpiece. This shouldn't factor into my review, but this album just has tons of sentimental value to me as well, I remember when this came out it seemed like every one of my friends was playing it all the time. "2001" is a must have for any fan of gangsta rap.

Amazon.com essential recording
Simultaneously serving as both endless fodder for intellectual debates and the album most likely to be blaring out of the adjacent car's window, All Eyez on Me is a phenomenon that packs a wallop with every listen. Unquestionably the most nihilistic album to top the Billboard charts--and it's doubtful that any will match it--Eyez also manages to dish out the good-times dance tunes and still flow seamlessly. Recording commenced within hours of Tupac Shakur's release from prison, and a year's worth of pent-up ideas are unleashed with a fury akin to lifting the lid on a box of plutonium. The line between high art and insufferable reality, possibilities and self-destruction, has never been so blurred. Eyez is a landmark achievement that is unlikely to be topped by any heir apparent to the hip-hop crown. --Gregg Turkington
Customer Reviews:
A true masterpiece in every sense of the word........2007-07-05
Tupac was a true MC and poet. His improvisations and lyrics were second to none. I always said that he was the Gil Scott Heron and Curtis Mayfield of his generation because he was so insightful and knowledgable about different things from the industry itself to the politics and injustices that exist in the communities across the country. "All Eyez on me" is a true masterpiece and is my personal favorite Tupac Shakur album.
Could Have Been a Great One Disc Album... Spread Across Two It Drags On Too Much..........2007-06-14
This album starts off great. Disc one is filled with tons of excellent material that is among the best work Pac has put out. In fact, the only track I wasn't feeling was 'How Do U Want It' with K-Ci and JoJo. Many of the tracks featured on disc one are straight up classics, such as the well-done single 'California Love (Remix)' with Dr. Dre. 'Got My Mind Made Up' is my personal favorite track on this album, and it features Redman and Method Man, who do an excellent job here. The rest of the songs on disc one range from good to excellent. I would give disc one at least a four star rating.
Disc two, however, is run of the mill 2pac affair and is filled with numerous boring and mundane tracks that really drag this set down. The opener on disc two, 'Can't C Me' which features funk legend George Clinton is definitely a highlight, and 'When We Ride' featuring the Outlawz is pretty good as well. However, the bulk of the second disc is extremely mediocre and forgettable.
This collection is still worth owning for disc one, but approach the second half of the album with caution. I found 2pac's later post-death release 'Until the End of Time' to have more worthwhile content than this release.
Stand out tracks: 'Got My Mind Made Up', '2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted', 'California Love' (remix)
All Eyez on Pac.......2007-06-09
2Pac changed his style a bit from his previous release Me Against the World as he was now aligned with the most powerful hip hop label in the world, Death Row. He hits a grand slam for gangsta rap with this one. He shows his great aggression on the mic and collaborates extremely well with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre to make classic joints like 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted and California Love. This is one of the greatest albums ever released not just from the West Coast, but hip hop in general.
All Eyez were on him.......2007-05-08
Im going to be brief. Upon his release from prison Tupac drops a double album classic All Eyez On Me. Even though its missing the political Pac I knew from 2pacalypse Now and Strictly For My N***az, it is nevertheless a great album that I still bump from time to time. Standout Tracks on Discs 1&2:AMBITIONZ OF A RIDAH, GOT MY MIND MADE UP(classic matchup with the Dogg Pound, Method Man and Redman), HOW DO YOU WANT IT, 2 OF AMERIKAZ MOST WANTED, NO MORE PAIN, HEARTZ OF MEN, ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME, TRADIN WAR STORIES, CALIFORNIA LOVE REMIX(RIP ROGER TROUTMAN), I AINT MAD AT CHA, CANT C ME, HOLLA AT ME, PICTURE ME ROLLIN, CHECK OUT TIME, ALL EYEZ ON ME(was once an anthem out here and rightfully so) and RUN THA STREETZ. Filler: The only song I cant feel is Heaven Aint Hard 2 Find. Bottom Line: 2pac dropped two classics The Seven Day Theory and All Eyez On Me. His rhymes were still sharp(even though the political side is missing)and the production was super. All in all one of the best double albums ever made. One last thing I never compared him to Malcolm X or Martin Luther King Jr but this son of a panther is not just another rapper you fool! G-Dep, House Of Pain, Lil Flip, Lil Jon(yeah right he is a hypeman)Tony Yayo etc are just rappers. Tupac, Krs-One,Chuck D, Immortal Technique,Rass Kass, Dead Prez, The Coup, Paris, Ice Cube(the old one), X-Clan, Sunz of Man, T-Kash, Uno The Prophet are all over and beyond your silly rappers and if you think all these soldiers are just rappers you need to stick to bubble gum bull**** you're used to. Next time talk what you know which is absolutely nothing which means you'll be keeping your mouth closed for a while!
Best rap album ever.......2007-03-27

Put Young Buck and his mentor 50 Cent together and you get a whole lot more than the artistic equivalent of an item and a half off the dollar menu. The two of them proved it on 2004's Straight Outta Ca$hville, and it holds for Buck the World, a disc that clamps itself to the G-Unit sound even while playing yo-yo with it. "Hold On," Fitty's sole contribution here, pops with the same menacing energy that informed Ca$hville, but elsewhere Buck defects from the unit (where are four-star gangstas Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo?) in favor of mostly successful team-ups with Snoop, TI, 8Ball, Lyfe Jennings and, kind of surprisingly, Ky-Mani Marley. (And that's just naming a few--clearly, Buck's phone calls are getting returned these days.) The extra-unit collaborations sound like natural enough dabblings for the sake of musical growth, especially the sizzling soul glance-back "Haters," featuring Kokane. But even though he's eased up on the G-pedal, 50's guiding principles poke up throughout: besides their hot beats, what binds these songs is authenticity. Buck may have temporarily lost sight of the corner, but he knows how to keep it real. -Tammy La Gorce
Customer Reviews:
Not the same..........2007-07-09
This album is good but not the same without that 50 influence... Buck is very talented and deserves his props though.
Young Buck- Buck The World.......2007-06-29
The first thing i want to say is that i agree with a statement another reviewer made on this album and that is that G-Unit is pretty much near death right now, but Buck can hold his own by himself. With that said, i know that many people will disagree with me, but i think this is honestly the best rap album since All Eyez On Me. I know that may be a little far fetched but this is truly the best rap album i have heard in a long time, and i really dont like rap at all, but i remain loyal to Buck. But he is about the only one left of the rappers these days that i consider to be gangsta wit his style...but at the same time he has something good to say on almost all his tracks. Buck is making music for the people that struggle, just listen to the Lyfe Jennings assisted "Buck The World" and you will see what i am saying. Buck is sayin things people can relate to, and that is why he is my favorite rapper right now, and this is my favorite rap album of the last 5 years plus. He just tore it up on this album. And the funny thing is that Strait Outta Cashville was tight to, but Buck the World blew it out the water. And the sad thing is that alot of people forgot about Buck because he took three and a half years off in between Buck the World and Strait Outta Cashville. Just look at the album sales in the first week of both albums SOC sold 230,000 and BTW sold 140,000. So there was a steep drop in sales from this album to his last. But trust me this album is definetly worth buying, there is something for everyone wheter your in the mood for the rowdy "Get Buck" or the baby making "U Aint Goin Nowhere". And of course there is the weed anthem "Puff Puff Pass". This album is far more mature than his first and this is honsestly the best rap album of the last 5 years. Dont sleep on Buck, he is the real deal. COP THIS ALBUM!!!

Buck The World....Don't Ask Me For Ish!.......2007-06-26
The G-Unit crew haven't exactly had the best of times lately. Olivia was released from G-Unit, Lloyd Banks' album all but flopped, and 50 Cent has been incognito when it comes to his next album. And with word that has actually entertained the idea of a follow-up to Tony Yayo's album is totally beyond comprehension. So for Young Buck to put out an album amid this storm is definitely ballsy to say the least. The best thing for him to do is disassociate himself from anything to do with G-Unit even though he still reps for the collective for the time being. And outside of one song with 50, Young Buck accomplishes that feat with Buck The World, a project that further validates the rapper as a true emcee and not a fly-by-night, overnight sensation like countless others. Buck hits hard from beginning to end on this album, but he must utilize outside talent from about 2/3 of the disc. Hip-Hop artists like 8Ball & MJG and Bun B ("Say It To My Face"), Snoop Dogg & Trick Daddy ("I Ain't F@cking With U!"), and TI, Young Jeezy, and Pimp C ("4 Kings") all deliver the goods for standout tracks. Lyfe Jennings brings a little soul for "Buck The World," while Latoiya Williams shows off her uniqueness for "U Ain't Going Nowhere." But Young Buck does well on his own too, rocking solo for the hard-hitting "Push Em Back," the equally forceful "Buss Yo' Head," and the 'State of the Unit' address portrayed on "Clean Up Man." Young Buck does something that 50 and Lloyd Banks couldn't do and that's release a sophomore album that is just as good as his debut CD. Buck The World is basically for the streets, and thankfully that's probably the vision Young Buck had in mind this time out.
Buck is 50's right hand man, G-Unit !!!!.......2007-06-26
In 2007, there was not much action coming from G-Unit. Yayo is still working on his late 2007 release, Lloyd Banks is contemplating his next follow up to his semi-unsecessful Rotten Apple, and 50 is obviously waiting to drop one of the most anticipated albums of the year in Curtis, on September 4th. While the Unit was busy working, Young Buck came out with his second album under G-Unit/Interscope Records.
With much anticipation from fans and the hip hop world (XXL magazines' third most anticipated album of 2007), Buck delievered with Buck the World. With collaborations from Trick Daddy, Snoop Dogg, UGK, 50 Cent, Jazze Pha, 8Ball & MJG, Young Jeezy, T.I. and Lyfe Jennings, Buck put to use his G-Unit connects.
Although his first single was "I Know You Want Me" feat. Jazze Pha, I believe that the better single was his second "Get Buck". "Get Buck" contains one of the neatest beats thats innovates marching band trumpets and tubas, with a little Gospel "Ohhhhssss". Overall it is the best track on the CD and really gets people pumped when they hear it, because the bass is insane. A real club banger, some might put it.
Buck's effort was excellent on the LP. All the tracks kept me listening and I felt hooked to each one. It was good mixture of beats that kept me thumping and then kept me thinking and relaxing. It is a great CD if you need to let some aggression out, because tracks like "Lose My Mind", "Hold on" feat 50 Cent, and "Buck the World" allow the listener to feel Buck's struggle, relate and just vibe to it. Then the tracks like "Get Buck" (Produced by Polow da Don) and "Money Good" (produced by Lil Jon)get you pumped and excited. I always feel like moving to these two songs and showing everyone that the Unit is down for life!
Buck the World is a straight 5 star LP. No getting past that. If 50's album doesn't sound better, than their is no hope for the Unit, because rumors are that Buck might be leaving after he spit a recent diss in a few bars at a hired function. (notice that Yayo and Banks aren't featured on the album)
Top 5 tracks:
1.) Get Buck
2.) Hold on feat. 50 Cent
3.) Money Good
4.) I Know You Want Me feat. Jazze Pha
5.) 4 Kings
Honorable mentions:
1.) Lose My Mind
2.) Pocket Full of Paper feat. Young Jeezy
P.S. to those that want a preview of 50, wait a few seconds after the last track to hear "Funeral Music" by 50 Cent. It is a diss track geared toward Cam'ron of Dipset, after he made a few comments towards 50, that 50 didn't appreciate too much. I don't think it will appear on Curtis, but it is a pretty hot track.
Go and cop Buck the World now, you won't regret it.
G-Unit !!!!!!!!!
615 Representing.......2007-05-21
First things first, I, in no way, like G-Unit as a rap group, a clique, a family, or whatever. My biases against them wouldn't let me check out "Straight Outta Cashville", Young Buck's first solo album. I usually check any artist coming straight outta Tennessee, because it's my state. I wasn't feeling "Let Me In", or whatever it was called, and "Shorty Wanna Ride With Me" either. Then this year, "Buck The World" drops with little to no hype, and honestly, I was curious as to how it sounded. "I Know You Want Me" got no attention from me, but the rest of the album came as a pleasant surprise.
The opener, "Push Em Back", will get you hyped up in no time. "Say It To My Face" features Bun B and Eightball & MJG. It's a tight track with excellent production and good verses from all guests. "I Ain't F******* Wit U" is a cut dedicated to snitches. Snoop Dogg and Trick Daddy come in to drop their verses, and the smooth singing by _____ provides for a good chorus. "Buck The World" is definitely one of my favorites. Lyfe Jennings gives the listener a powerful chorus, and Buck gets a little introspective but still keeps it gangsta. "Slow Ya Role" speaks on growing up too fast. On paper, a Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) and Young Buck collaboration would sound bad, but Bennington lays down a nice backdrop to Buck's chorus and lends a nice bridge. It's another stand-out. "Haters" features Kokane and is another track where Buck goes hard at whoever his adversary's may be. The beat and chorus are both excellent. "Hold On" featuring 50 cent is catchy as hell. "Puff Puff Pass" is self-explanatory. I usually don't like songs commemorating reefer, but this has such a good vibe and sound to it that you can't help but listen. "4 Kings" has been out for awhile but it still bumps. "Lose My Mind" is an excellent way to close out the album (if you forget the bonus track). Buck yells out his feelings over the beat. This is the perfect song to listen to when you've had it with the world.
There are plenty of good cuts here, but there are also some throwaways. "Buss Yo Head" may energize some people, but it sounds rehashed. It's simple and is used strictly for filler. I may get hated for this, but I also do not like "Get Buck". In some way it comes off as boring to me. However, I do think it was a good choice for a single. "Pocket Full Of Paper" is ruined by Young Jeezy. "U Ain't Goin Nowhere" featuring LaToiya Williams is lackluster. "Money Good" is also pretty self explanatory. Yes, we know your money is good. "I Know U Want Me" is a supbar single that lacks substance. It's no wonder it didn't get much play (atleast not here in Kentucky).
Those mentioned above don't make the cut, but it's still a solid album. I'm glad I decided to check it out, for it is atleast worth a download. If you remotely like G-Unit or southern Hip-Hop, you'll appreciate the disc entirely. If you're not really into those that much, you'll still appreciate hits like "Slow Ya Role", "Buck the World", "Lose My Mind", and "Haters". Overall "Buck the World" is an enjoyable listen and offers something to everybody.

The King of Brooklyn, Biggie Smalls, busted through with an instant hip-hop classic on his first album, Ready to Die, but he outdid even his standard on Life After Death, an audible, posthumous autobiography about the life of the former dope dealer. The 2 CD set revels in death, especially on "Niggaz Bleed," "Somebody's Gotta Die," and "You're Nobody ('Til Somebody Kills You)," but it's painfully clear that this chestnut-cheeked, fun-loving father of two wanted to see his kids grow up on "Sky Is the Limit" and "Miss U," both of which point to the future. The album also serves as a testament to Biggie's flexibility: he adopts Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's rapid rhyme flow and Midwestern beats when they guest on "Notorious Thugs," he positively bounces on both "Mo Money Mo Problems" and "Going Back to Cali" (guesting Eazy Mo Bee), and even kicks it Wu-Tang style when RZA shows up for "Long Kiss Goodnight." --Asondra R. More Good Stuff from a Big Man.......2007-07-20
With 2 discs, Life After Death gives the listener a lot of material by Biggie. Some reviewers criticize this as having some weaker stuff and annoying guest appearances, but I think that's just a function of having a bigger album. Some stuff inevitably will not be as good as the rest. And I think the guest appearances are fine. Lil Kim spews off a foul mouth on one track, but that's what she does in her own stuff. Anyway, there's lots of great raps on her. The album's a bit slicker and more produced, lacking some of the edge of Ready to Die, but I think things as a whole work very well. While maybe not quite as awesome, on a song by song basis, as Ready to Die, this album definitely has enough quality material for the 5 stars. The best raps:
Hypnotize
Kick in the Door
I Love the Dough
Mo Money Mo Problems
Another
Going Back to Cali
The World is Filled
Posthumous greatness .......2007-07-14
This album is Biggie at his best before his music got corrupted by a sniveling weasel named Sean P Giddy Combs. It has guest appearances like 112, Too Short, Jay-z, R. Kelly, The Lox etc but Biggie shines regardless of guest appearances. The album kicks of with vivid storytelling by Biggie on Somebody's Gotta Die but that's not the only track where Biggie tells a great story. N***** Bleed is another cinematic track and Story To Tell is Biggie telling a story of some chick he was messing with whose husband ends up coming home while he's still there. Miss U is a touching tale with some good vocals by 112 on the chorus. Big keeps it true to the MC side of him with tracks like Kick In The Door(Nas Diss), the sinister sounding What's Beef, the first single Hypnotize, My Downfall(feat DMC), Long Kiss Goodnight(obvious 2pac diss but the track could do without Puffy's bipolar ranting. We all know Diddy is a cupcake), Last Day(feat the Lox). I Love The Dough is another highlight which features Jay-z and Angela Winbush as both Jigga and Biggie drop some hot verses on the track. Bone Thugs N Harmony join in on the festivities on Notorious Thugs as everybody delivers some fast-paced verses on the track. Going Back To Cali is Big's ode California and Biggie teaches the rules to the game on Ten Crack Commandments. The album does have its flaws like Playa Hater which is awful and anybody who can tell you that track is tight is borderline insane. Last Day is suspect only because of lackluster verses by The Lox(Biggie killed it!). I never felt The World Is Filled(feat Too Short and Fluff Diddy) and thats another song, with guest appearances where Biggie had the only notable verse(case in point for Mo Money Mo Problems). After that this album is smooth sailing. Biggie has his songs for the ladies like Nasty Boy and F*** You Tonight(feat R. Kelly) which he makes work for him. Lil Kim joins in on the battle of the sexes record Another. 112 makes another appearance on the magnificent Sky's The Limit where Biggie recalls his past. The second disc ends with the gritty You're Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You) as Biggie brings it to you raw and uncut. Bottom Line: The Notorious Big's Life After Death is easily the best rap album of 1997 and is a necessary requirement for any rap fan's collection. Biggie excelled on every track(even when the guest spots didnt) and the production was the best that Bad Boy could get. Standout tracks on Disc 1: SOMEBODY'S GOTTA DIE, HYPNOTIZE, KICK IN THE DOOR, F*** YOU TONIGHT, I LOVE THE DOUGH, WHAT'S BEEF, N***** BLEED and I GOT A STORY TO TELL. Standout Tracks on Disc Two: NOTORIOUS THUGS, MISS U, ANOTHER, GOING BACK TO CALI, TEN CRACK COMMANDMENTS, NASTY BOY, SKY'S THE LIMIT, MY D0WNFALL, LONG KISS GOODNIGHT and YOU'RE NOBODY(Til Somebody Kills You). RIP to Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious Big. Gone But Never Forgotten. There you have it. The most earnest review you'll ever read without the silly arguments about who is the better MC out of Pac and Big. You guys who are still carrying on with this asinine dispute need to agree to disagree and GROW UP!!! You're fools are damn near 40 still carrying on like high school kids. SHAME ON YOU ALL!
Biggy at His Prime.......2007-07-11
The Notorious B.I.G. was a lyrical genius and he showed it on Life After Death. This is the greatest rap double album ever. Biggy mastered his flow and showed his versitility on this album. He told stories, gave us party records, got serious, clowned around, rapped over west coast beats, rhymed fast, and gave us hard core street records. This is the definition of a complete album. Ready to Die was a classic and Biggy took it to another level on this album.
He left the world with his best work before he passed. Biggy had a great ability to make his lyrics very visual. Stories like "Somebody Gots to Die", "Niggas Bleed" and "I Got A Story to Tell" are so good that you can visualize his every word. Biggy had the East Coast on lock and no one in the game could touch him in wordplay. I can not even sit here and start to name the best songs because there were too many.
Biggy dropped two classic albums and was killed while he was still on top. He never lost his spot. Life After Death raised the bar for the game. I would have loved to see B.I.G. grow as an artist and make new music after this record. Unfortunately, his time was cut short, but he left us with a gem that shows his amazing talent....
Biggie's best work!.......2007-07-05
The first album was pretty tight, but this title cd album is Biggie's best work. And even if he was still alive, i'm not so sure that he could really top this one. It's a collector's item.
The greatest album ever released by Biggie & BadBoy Records........2006-12-01
Life After shows Biggie's growth as an artist and man. The storytelling is very cinematic and compelling. This is really a movie on wax for real. The paranoia is also raised on here and for good reason since Biggie spent 1996 fending off Pac's accusations and insults. In short, Biggie was a naturally gifted, personable, smart dude that's greatly missed.
