5 out of 5 stars classic? YES.......2006-02-22

As far as I'm concerned, the people giving this album 1 or 2 stars, although they are entitled to their opinion, I think they may be suffering from some kind of mental illness which is affecting their judgement. This is one of the best hip hop albums from 94...if fact I can say I've never heard a hip hop album that sounds as expansive as this one, on the beats/production front, without losing any of that tightness and hard sound in the beats. It is truely an awesome listening experience, and the emceeing isn't fantastic but it doesn't spoil the beats, and thats almost as much as you can ask for...Don't sleep. If you like mid 90s hip hop then buy this album.

3 out of 5 stars Through My Neighborhood.......2005-10-02

What started off as a song by Ill featuring Al Skratch on "Where My Homiez? (Come Around My Way)" turned out being an entire album and a group. Creep Wit' Me is an LP that has appeal for mainstream, but the fall lies in the duo making all songs interlink as if they are remixes of each other. "I'll Take Her" featuring Brian McKnight deserves a star all its own with a smooth feel. The chemistry of the two is felt with "Chill With That" and "The Brooklyn Uptown Connection" with a tag team efforts and rougher sound. Each has solo songs where Al Skratch's raspy flow is a lot sounder than his partners. "Where My Homiez? (Come Around My Way)(Dub Version)" featuring Mike Real and "Get Dough" featuring LRC & Zoundwavez actually crippled the already potential of this album. The production by The LG Experience & Lowrider is good and worthy of recognition with maybe some other mainstream R&B or Hip-hop / rap act.

5 out of 5 stars "A slept on masterpiece".......2005-08-25

Ill & Al Scratch were 2 MC's that helped immortalize that NYC, Boom-Bap sound of the early/mid '90's. There compatibility, stage pressence and chemistry are unsurpassed! They're like a smooth version of M.O.P, or a ghetto version of Nice & Smooth. There flow just complimented each other, they were dope! They were smooth, yet rugged! Pimps, but ghetto! There routines and style were off the hook! They had that classic old skool flare, they were so unique and original! nothing or no one sounds like this, or ever did. The "Uptown/B'klyn connection" is a slept on master-piece. A must have for real Hip-Hop heads!

1 out of 5 stars Nothing to write home about..........2003-08-28

Well, this album has two nice songs. They are not hot. They are just nice. "Where my homes" and "I'll take her" are the songs I am talking about. The rest are either bad or just remixes of the two abovementioned. Not worth buying! They should have just released a single.

1 out of 5 stars Wack, wack, wack.......2002-03-20

The Where Are They Now award for 2002 would probably have to go to Ill and Al Scratch who scored big with "I'll Take Her" and "Where My Homiez" back in 1995. But then again, after that lackluster debut Creep Wit Me (and another follow-up years later), few people would care what happened to them.

Creep Wit Me has to be one of the most unoriginal albums ever made. First off, every track is either a spinoff of a remix of one of the two aforementioned songs (see "I'll Take Her--Brian's Flow"). Also, Ill Al Scratch are by no means good rappers, as shown on "Ill's Solo", but Al Scratch is a tad better than Ill. See the first verse of "I'll Take Her" for a possibility of minor potential.

In fact, "I'll Take Her" is the reason why this album went from 0 stars to 1. A clever use of one of EPMD's lines from their "Jane" combined with Brian McKnight's vocal makes for a good chorus. But that's not enough to prevent this tape from keeping my window cracked open.

    2 out of 5 stars Vanished Without A Trace {2.5 Stars}.......2006-06-28

I'm reading the reviews for this album and I'm wondering where in the world these 5 star reviews are coming from? Honestly, I'm baffled by any rating over 3 stars. Ill and All Skratch weren't the worst rappers in the world. There are some solid cuts to be found here. I think everyone agrees that "Where My Homiez" and "I'll Take Her" are the standouts, but "Chill With That" (despite its godawful chorus), "The Brooklyn Uptown Connection", and "Get Dough" (despite, well, Al's presence) are pretty decent due to good production. Sadly though, it's all downhill from there.

I read another review that said that this album mimicked the west coast sound, but I'm having trouble hearing it. The only similarities would be the heavy use of the word "Homies". 98% of the production is handled by LG (Easy Mo Bee's lil' brother), so you know most of the beats are going to be good. The problem is that Ill and Al can't really rhyme. While Ill isn't actually that bad, Al Skratch (who was actually a DJ) has no business in the recording booth. Not only are his rhymes elementary and juvenile, his voice is annoying to boot. That alone makes the album pretty hard to sit through. If that isn't bad enough, most of the songs are centered around their two hit singles. The rest of the other songs either directly or indirectly bite one of those two songs. Technically, there are at least 3 versions of "Where My Homiez (Come Around My Way" and 2 versions of "I'll Take Her"........and there are only 12 songs. The two terrible solo tracks "Summertime (It's All Good)" -- Al's Solo -- and "Classic Sh*t" -- Ill's solo -- answer any questions as to why they don't have solo albums.

Creep Wit' Me is an album that should only be played when you want to take a trip back to '94 and hear some of the top singles from then. Or you could check out LG's great production (which was totally wasted on these two). Otherwise, throw this one back on the CD shelf and let it continue to collect dust.
