5 out of 5 stars real ole skool.......2006-04-29

I purchased this cd when it was first released and it was one of my favorites until i lost it during a move. I couldn't remember the title of it until a diligent search happened with positive results. This is a cd that showcased early talents like Mary J. and Intro when they were just beginning to gain status in the hip hop culture. To all who get a chance to purchase this collection,it is definately a gem.....

Eddie "DJ Eddie F." Ferrell came out with a very good compilation back in late '94 called "Let's Get It On". This came out on motown records at a time when motown was starting to make a transition into the Andre Harrell era who was the president of Uptown records(affilated with MCA records) at the time and the marketing direction was very poor. Eddie F assembled an entourage of producers and songwriters to form the "Untouchables" which has put out some major hits from acts such as Mary J. Blige, TLC, Heavy D. & The Boyz, Intro, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, & more. The album starts off with Intro with a great slow jam called "Never Again" in which I thought when this song came out, I instantly thought that Intro was going to release a new album but it was from this compilation. The next song "Let Go" by Felicia Adams could easily be a neo-soul hit today with its hip hop beat and Felicia's soulful voice. Andre Wilson(related to Gap Band great Charlie Wilson) had a great hip hop love cut called "Had Enough" which uses great excerpts of "Ladi Dodi" Doug E. Fresh/Slick Rick & "Top Billin" by Audio Two. My favorite cut on here is the title track "Let's Get It On" which features Heavy D., Grand Puba, and the late Tupac Shakur & Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace. What makes this song good is that is not any hooks, it just get straight to the lyrics and thats it. Some other artists of note to check out is Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Changing Faces, Myko Myers, & Todd-O. Overall a good album but once again it did not receive a lot of attention and even to this day with an album with 2Pac & Biggie in same song should not go unnoticed.
