Great Old school. With the garbage that is coming out in the Hip-Hop world these days, this is a great throw back with outkast

5 out of 5 stars The Album That Demanded Respect For The ATL (Rating: 10 out of 10- -5.0 stars).......2007-04-08

You know, when I listen to a lot of rap albums before this dropped, not too many artists gave ATL a shoutout. It was like we were just some other city to them. When Outkast dropped "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" back in 1994, they really put Atlanta on the map. Back then we didn't have too many acts from here. Only Arrested Development and A Van Full Of Pakastans. When they came out with "Players Ball" back in 1993, I can't tell you how much noise that made here. Me, being a little kid back then, I still remember when the radio stations played that song.

"Players Ball" isn't the only hot song on here. There are many of them. "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" is another hot track that the duo was about. Then there is "Crumblin' Erb" the smokin' song, layin' back and just chillin. The bouncy track "Ain't No Thang" was another standout song on this album. And "Hootie Hoo" is just plain sick in my opinion. Then we have the positive track "Git Up & Git Out" a song about doing something with your life. And I can't count how many people was using "Funky Ride" as their bump & grind song. The production by Organized Noize is straight southern and some of the best I've heard.

This is one of those albums that I can play when I'm crusing the streets late at night. This is the album that had rap and hip hop listener know that Atlanta was not just another city. This also introduced a lot of people to Goodie Mob who dropped "Soul Food" a year later. Fact is: This is the best album to come out of Atlanta. Outkast has never topped this album (some say "Aquemini" came close). People down here may be listening to a lot of crunk and snap music, but when I play this album, they never forget this classic. This is what Southern Hip Hop is supposed to sound like. Word up.

Oh yeah, they need to hit The Source for that other half mic.

5 out of 5 stars Keepin' It Real Home.......2007-03-10

Thank you. Thank you for taking us back home. Back to Ohio Players, Curtis Mayfield, Funkadelics and all that internal-organ-vibrating funk from back in the day. That light crackle goin' round makes me emotional. This could only have come outta GA.

5 out of 5 stars Southernplayalisticadillaclassik.......2007-02-12

Outkast's first album is one of those albums that you buy and keep it in constant rotation. The production was great and their flow was on point plus the guest appearances were a nice touch. Standout Tracks: MYINTROTOLETUKNOW, AINT NO THANG, SOUTHERNPLAYALISTICADILLACMUSIK, CALL OF THE WILD, PLAYERS BALL(original and reprise are cool with me), CLAIMIN TRUE, GIT UP GIT OUT, CRUMBLIN HERB,HOOTIE HOO and DEEP. Filler: Funky Ride is kind of boring but thats it. Bottom Line: Southernplayalisticadillacmusik is a highlight album of 94 easily. Songs like Aint No Thang, Player's Ball, Git Up Git Out and the title track are all songs that make this album a requirement for any rap fan's collection. Also recommended by Outkast: Atliens.

5 out of 5 stars The most influential southern hiphop album, Classic Material........2006-11-16

The combination of Organized Noize, Kast and Goodie Mob made this classic pop back in the summer of 94. This joint put Atlanta on the map for real. Andre came hard lyrically with a New York influenced flow with Big Boi playing cleanup man. Sleepy Brown had the Curtis Mayfield'esque vibe going on. This joint laid the ground work for what would later lead the South dominating rap music.

4 out of 5 stars Music to my ears.......2004-06-19

Outkast's 2nd single, "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik", wasn't as sucessful as "Player's Ball", but I think it's just as good. There's a great southern beat in this one, and some horns in the background. The sung chorus is music to my ears. I've heard people complain about the verses being to long in this one, but I personally think they're just fine, because the great flow of Big Boi and Dre makes up for any excess length. Check out the full-length album if you like this single.
