Not An Essential Release, But a Decent Old School Hip-Hop Album That the Curious Should Try..........2007-06-16
'Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast' was released around the time Kid Rock went on what was known as one of rap's last great tours (it featured Kid Rock, Ice Cube, Yo-Yo, D-Nise, and Too $hort). Although Kid Rock's skills aren't exactly amazing here, his explicit, often sex-related rhymes (ala Too $hort) get the job done. They get repetitive after awhile, but the production on here saves it from what would have been a lower rating if not for the good beats (once again, thanks to Too $hort - he was responsible for the best songs on this album and was one of the producers here).
To get the most out of 'Grits Sandwiches For Breakfast' you have to have a little love for both Kid Rock and hip-hop. Many modern day Kid Rock fans were disappointed by this album, but that's because they didn't know what he was about in his early career.
Standout tracks: 'New York's Not My Home', 'Wax the Booty"', '"Trippin' Over a Rock"
STOP HATING, u Morons..........2006-03-10
Does ANYONE on here know KID ROCK's history ??? He started off as a DJ, became HUGE in the Detroit area, THEN started rapping.
Soooo, he went from, DJ, to Rapping, to Rock/Rap, to Rock, then to Country Blues. He doesnt go back n forth. This album isnt worth a 5, but then again it is 2006, that album dropped in 1990s. You tell me what album still is GOOD from that era ???
This is a great album, it makes you laugh, got some good beats (By TOO $Hort) and had a nice flow. He would be BIGGER then M&M, if he stayed rutted in Boring BASS Beat Hip Hop. But he, UNLIKE all other c"rappers" evolved, and is now recognized in all music genres, and Gets RESPECT by all musicians. And one more thing, to people that say BLACK=RAP, and WHITE= ROCK.... Paul Wall, Beastie Boys, Kid Rock, and Eminem can OUTSELL any top 4 BLACK? rappers in the game. *Great album Kid Rock, and thanks for evolving, and makin even better albums* And to you "Haters" make sure you buy another 50 cent, or G Unit Album NOW... cause UNLIKE Kid Rock, they wont be around in 16 years.
hey idiots.......2005-12-18
Ok Ill Admit this isnt rocks best album but it was also made in 1990 you cant expect everthing to sound like 2pac ok and the guy who said if he came to my hood shut up cuz u sound rediculous and probly a white boy who wish he was blackandlive in some place like montana and probly cant even spit a verse without quoting other rappers and one last thoughtfor that guy kid rock has respect every were b**ch for the people who read these for info if u like 80s beats and the typical cheesy 80s lyrics this is a good buy if your lookin for eminem style try lil wyte PEACE MUSICMASTER
Disappointing.......2005-07-20
I got nothin but love for kid rock (as a matter of fact, i think he's so fine!) and so much respect for his music, i think all his CDs rock...except this one. There's just way too much rap and barely any southern rock, rock and all of his other genres he mixes in his CDs. Im not a big fan of white rap b/c the white rock and the black rap but i do like his rap in all his other CDs. If you're thinking about buying this album- I HIGHLY recommend you buy "DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE", "KID ROCK" , or "COCKY". Those are my favorite Kid Rock albums.
Black=Rap, and white=Rock.......2005-07-15
Who does this guy think he is, anyway? I go onto the i tunes music store and see him listed as 'rock', then I hear him and he sounds like Vanilla Ice or the Beastie Boys with his idiotic white rapper style voice and then he dresses like a redneck and talks like he's some gangsta, so this makes no sense to me.
Rap was, in my opinion, invented by N.W.A. and then it has really grown since then it has thrived because of the slammin' rappers out there today like Nas, Tupac, Talib, Mos Def, Cam'ron, Outkast, Pretty Ricky, long time ago Notorious BIG, and Snoop Dogg (His first three CD's, of coarse.) and you notice the skin color of each of those guys? Yeah, Kid Rock doesn't quite fit in. I'm real sorry but I am just frickin' sick of white guys tryin' to rap 'cuz it doesn't work. They just disgrace they own race and rap just ain't they place. They need to stick to their sick, devil worshippin', headbangin', mind numbin' heavy metal trash and leave rap the (...) alone. We don't need white guys comin' in and thinkin' they can rap 'cause no white guy ('Cept 4 Eminem) ever pulled off a rap song well, especially this guy. Stick to rock, and don't come into us rappers' territory thinkin' you fit in 'cuz if I ever saw you on the street in my hood you'd truly get it right where it hurts, if y'all know what I mean.
