Dr. Dre Chronicles.......2006-12-21

This CD is a compilation of tracks from the Death Row era. It was not released by Dr. Dre at all. It was put out by Suge Knight to make money off of Dr. Dre because Suge still has rights to all of Dre's Death Row material. In the CD liner notes, Suge gives us a history lesson on gangsta rap, and on Dr. Dre himself. Suge takes every opportunity to slam Dre and make his contributions to the music industry seem much less important that we would all like to think. However, Dre never claimed anything about himself that wasn't true and so Suge's stabs at him are limited in that regard. He does begrudgingly give Dre credit where it is due, but you can tell that Suge does not really care for him, and he's just making money off of his name by releasing this compilation. That being said, this is an excellent collection of tracks, with a couple hard to find ones that make this worth buying, especially if you are a fan of Dre. I only wish that there were a few more songs on here, but Suge Knight is probably saving that material for future releases since Dr. Dre is probably still Death Row's number one bread winner (besides Pac) even though he's not even on the label anymore. That's okay though because Dre's not hurting. I'm sure he's got more bread stacked up than Suge by now anyway AND he's legit, which is more than Suge Knight can say, plus Dre has enough talent to make a hundred more classic songs and Suge can only keep selling the same thing over and over again so it is what it is. I'm sure Dre's still pissed about it thought. Anyway, This CD is really f-n good and you should pick it up, but buy it used for 3 or 4 dollars and don't give any more money to Suge Knight, extortionist extrordinaire. Dr. Dre forever, Suge Knight never!!!!

oh back in the day I use to rock Death Row Music all the time. Dr.Dre,Snoop&Crew always had a Banging Jam out. I have to pour out some of My Activator in Remeberence to that time. I use to rock my S-Curl,sipping on my Kool-Aid playing Uno while those tight Grooves of Dre's were blasting over my sound system."Ain't no Fun" is a Classic Jam. Dre Day was always the Cut. that was a great time in Music. Real Hip-Hop there. un-cut&lots of Fun. I miss the Days when the Wesst Siddde Was running things. the tight Bass&overall Crisp sounding Jams.if you was into Dr.Dre back in the day then this is for you Fo SHO!

respect your dr.dre, this cd has some of the best songs ever from the mind of da doc himself and the dogg father, one eight seven is the song and murder was the case?, dude ya'll better recognize!!, i just wish the masters was creating new music so these "lean wit it" fools can shut the hell up!!

Sir Dyno comes hella tight on this album. The song "The Chola" will give you chills. "The Cholo" is unforgettable. The whole album is firme. If you like real cholo rolas, and no faking it lyrics, then search no further. Sir Dyno and the Darkroom Familia are the ones you've been looking for. Chicano varrio life, like its never been told. I bought this album when it first came out and it does not disapoint . if haven't listen to this rapper before or of the darkroom familia a group he's part of .then your in for a eye opener ever song has a meaning and it speak's to you in volume.this album is really good it get's you all worked up he talk's about life, the streat's , drugs, women and love ,how everthing you worked so hard to get can get taken from you in a split secound.

A great cd........1999-12-06

This is a great cd. It is not really a gang-related cd, so it shouldn't affend anyone. It has great lyrical content and the cd talks about life. Especially if you live in the bay area. All the tracks on the cd are very good. In my opinion some of the best tracks are #2(Cries of the Dead), #4(Triple Beam Dips), #7(The Chola), #10(Connected by Honor), and #14(Last Words). My favorite is The Chola and Connected by Honor. If you don't understand any spanish you might be a little confused, but you'll learn quickly. It's better than most black rappers, i think we need to see more mexican rappers. so all in all, i think you should at least check the cd out. Norte 14 1MADERA4
