Saddly slept on classic.......2006-05-20
People throw the word classic around all the time, but THIS CD IS A CLASSIC! There's a reason why this CD is $50. It is well worth it. I'm just happy I picked it up when it came out.
This album is a great combination, production by the Beatnuts, NoI.D. and featuring former front man of the Beatnuts "Fashion" aka Al'Tariq. Dope beats, dope rhymes, this ish is classic!
When this LP was released it was during the time in which The Source started heading down to its dark path of Benzinoism. When they reviewed this album it only received 2 1/2 mics, but in the review they stated "that they hoped this album wouldn't get slept on." Hmmmmmmm... rather ify ground there, sounded as is the reviewer wanted to rate it higher, but the higher ups blasted him down. (Anybody remember the backlash when Smif-n-Wessun's LP got 3 mics?)
"God Connections" is one of my all time favorite albums and I listen to it frequently. If you can ever get your hands on this LP... DO IT, it is worth it!
mid-90's classic.......2005-06-13
A definate classic hiphop album that didn't get to much attention but definately worth a listening. "Crime pays" is one of my favorites. If you like Beatnuts and Wu-Tang type production, mainly a east coast sound than you'll love this album. However you gotta be on CRACK if you think someone is gonna pay $80 for this CD!
Classic.......2005-06-09
I finally attained a copy of this album, 9 years after its release, and I am glad I did. This has the perfect blend of dope beats, mostly provided by the Beatnuts, and dope rhymes provided by Al Tariq, to honestly make a perfectly hip hop album. I haven't heard a complete album like this in a while, not one song to skip and the Beatnuts just really came through on this one production wise- the songs are all dope as hell and will have you vibin to some great hip hop- A++++ 5 Stars
the perfect rap connection.......2005-01-11
This album is banging from start to finish, nowadays how many albums can honestly say that+MEAN IT!!! As an early member of the beatnuts (under the moniker of fashion) he blessed their 1st ep and album with his gritty street story-telling delivery and skilled flow. With his constant references to sex+guns throughout his rhymes he's very much 1 of those rappers from back in the day, when hiphop was truely phat, that just loves to spit hot rhymes. For those unfamiliar with fash' style, he's kinda in the same vein as tha'liks+ironically enough the beatnuts. His album consists of hard head nodding beats, jazz loops+funky guitar breaks all over the tracks and his witty charismatic energy (with his crew helping out occasionally). There's honestly not 1 single bad track on the whole joint. The highlights for me, and it really could be any of them, is "do yo'thang", "foxxy brown", get down baby", "everybody's talkin'", and the short but brilliant "just a lil'joint". The only bad thing about this cd is the price of it. Because its so rare you have to pay WAY over its value to actually get it. But to be honest, yet again, its worth it in the end 'cuz the joint is blazing. Dont be put off by the price, dig deep+enjoy.

Al Tariq's solo Album is consistent with his former group, the Beatnuts. You can expect hype lyrics and funky beats.
