Perhaps this would have been better named Murda Muzak. With their fourth album, the third since their seminal The Infamous, Mobb Deep recycle themselves to the point of self-parody. How much slower and darker can your grooves get? How many rhymes about cash, crime, and hoes can you write? How many albums can Raekwon and Nas cameo on? There are moments that will shake you out of the soporific slumber: "Adrenaline" with its pounding drum track, and the slick, sliding bass line on "The Realest," featuring a cameo from Kool G Rap. However, during Mobb Deep's hiatus between Hell On Earth and Murda Muzik, artists like DMX, the Ruff Ryders, and Ja Rule filled the vacuum left by the Mobb's crime stories. To keep up, Havoc and Prodigy are going to have to get Deep(er) than the thugged-out "Quiet Storm" they present here. --Oliver Wang

P holds the pen tightly........2007-06-04
This was one of like 10 cd's i had back in junior high. I probly got a hundred, maybe a hundred and fifty listens on this album and still throw it on. The beats would sound raw and innovative if they came out now and it came out in 99. Prodigy is a hella good story teller, sounding both tough and intelligent on every track. His vocals are layered and well delivered. You'll catch a new nuance to his rhyme pattern or pick up on a reference or metaphor you never noticed each time you hear it, and "Adrenaline" is probably the hypest song on the album and it does its thing quietly; make you damn near break your neck on that bassline.
Mobb hits hard with Murda Muzik.......2007-02-04
The MOBB kills em with this LP. "Quiet Storm" and "Streets raised me" are just some of the hard hitters laced on the cd. INFAMOUS MOBB DEEP can't be touched. If you're an Infamous Mobb Deep fan, you know you must have this cd.
Classic M O B B.......2006-11-16
After making three solid albums, Mobb Deep return with another bangin album Murda Musik. Hav and P's rhymes were fire, Havoc's production sounds as fresh as its ever been and every guest appearance was on fire. Standout Tracks: STREETS RAISED ME, WHATS YA POISON(everybody was on point even Cormega), SPREAD LOVE, IM GOING OUT(Lil Cease busts the best verse of his rap career on this one!), ALLUSTRIOUS, ADRENALINE, WHERE IM FROM(unexpected but great matchup with 8ball), QUIET STORM, WHERE YA HEART AT, THE REALEST(Kool G Rap shut it down disrespectfully!), U.S.A., ITS MINE(the best collabo out of all the collabos they did with Nas) and QUIET STORM(Lil Kim's verse on this song is still classic). Filler: Let a ho be a ho(Saturday Night Live boring) and Thug Musik. Bottom Line: Any Mobb Deep fan will not be dissapointed with this 4th album. Prodigy and Havoc put together their best album next to Hell On Earth. With songs like Whats ya poison, Spread love, Adrenaline, Where ya heart at, Where ya from and crazy matchups with 8ball, Lil Cease, Lil Kim, Cormega and Kool G Rap this album is bound to be one of those albums you will still reach for after years to come.
BACK WHEN THE MOBB HAD THE GAME ON LOCK.......2006-07-25

Dopest rhyme of the Year.......2001-11-26
Woah, Prodigy and Havoc have done it again with their latest effort Murda Muzik. This record is flawless and earned Prodigy "Dopest rhyme of the Year" in Source Magazine. What makes Mobb Deep so significant is not only their lyrics but the callabos with top notch MC's like Raekwon, Kool G Rap, Eightball, Nas and etc...Another thing about Mobb Deep is alongside Capone-N-Noreaga, they were the only east coast artists that weren't afraid to respond to Pac's "Hit'em Up". Peep "Drop a Gem on 'em" from Hell on Earth and "LA,LA" from CNN's War Report. In conclusion, this is a dope record and I believe the source should have gave them 5 mics instead of 4 1/2.
Another Mobb Classic.......1999-08-17
The Album is now one of my favorite albums, all the songs are deep, and meaningful, Prodigy and Havoc are on top once again. Great lyrics and the beats aren't too far off. Definetly a one to add to rap's classics.
The greastest piece theMOBB has ever done........1999-08-12
I've listen to all the other MOBB joints, but this one is a classic. From the joint with Kool G.Rap,to "Thug Musik"...it just dosen't stop. Not to many artists intrigue me because I'm an artist myself("Johora EXPO" of the chi),but I thank you for giving "Murda Muzik"the blessing it deserved!

A classic is found far and few in the world of hip-hop where everyone trys to cop the next ni99a'z style. Its easy to say that Mobb Deep has kept it real and continues to serve us what we all want without havin to change thier sound. they have come along way from "Juvenile Hell" to bring us the flvor we all crave. Peace
