5 out of 5 stars love it!.......2007-07-02

I find myself enraptured every time I listen to this album. Nobody could be more surprised than me -- I'm a dedicated rock/jazz/motown/r&b fan!

5 out of 5 stars The best of the best new age man.......2004-08-14

Once having listened to a huge number of recordings of the so-called "new age" music, I think this recording should be in the five best of the genre. You can also exchange this for "Deep Breakfast" which is highly represented in here with four tracks (Celestial Soda Pop, The Oh of Pleasure, Tiny Geometries and Kathleen's Song). The thing is that there should be more space for another track from "No Blue Thing", which I prefer even more than "Deep Breakfast": apart from "Clouds Below Your Knees" and "The True Spirit of Mom & Dad" (one of the best music pieces written ever), I would have included "Homeward at Last".

This is only to say what I think it has been missed in this compilation. But this recording is marvellous from start to the end. The two new pieces show a very enjoyable music, and the final remix is an example that, when classical tunes have been sampled, they result in a mess. But in this case is the own author who makes the sample and then the version is a total success.

For me, Ray Lynch is the best "new age" man. Only four recordings and this compilation in his career. But what a magnificent handful!

5 out of 5 stars Highly Addictive Music.......2003-04-23

Ray Lynch has quite some talent! This "Best of" CD features 10 of his most loved compositions, plus two brand new tracks and a remix of his most well known piece: "Celestial Soda Pop".

His music is highly melodic. Foot-tapping stuff indeed! The two new tracks are excellent, and it goes without saying that the other compositions are top-notch. The only surprise is the absence of "Ivory", a track many regard as Ray's most beautiful piece.

Ray's music is hard to describe. He uses a great assortment of instruments and produces a huge range of sounds; some very conventional, other really unusual and original. Everything, however, blends together really well and this is the sort of music you'll find yourself whistling at work. It's addictive stuff!

If you enjoy melodic, catchy rhythmic music that's full of life and energy, you're sure to enjoy this CD.

Very highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Best Of ... TRULY!.......2002-07-10

If you think "electronic" music is hokey, TRY THIS CD. It will stir you. It will have you moving to the music. Celestial Sodapop is one of the best electronic pieces I have ever heard and I am old enough to remember MOOG music!

5 out of 5 stars Best if Ray Lynch.......2000-05-07

This is a luscious, compliation of some of Ray's best music. Listening to it recalls all of the deep feelings I felt when hearing the albums for the first time. These pieces are timeless. For the person who has never heard this composer, I would say they have a remarkable experience ahead of them. Try it, you'll like it.

5 out of 5 stars As dank as Cali Green.........2005-11-30

Beginning with the first track, which has one of the most bangin' beats on the album, you know this album will be stuck in your CD Player/MP3/Car for a hot minute. Great compilation, great remixes, especially "Liquor Sicc", but why the edited " Rest in Piss"? worthy of buying.Missing a few tracks, in my opinion, notably "Had to gat ya", which is one of Lynch's downest tracks.

5 out of 5 stars Greatest hits of the greatest rapper.......2004-01-05

amazing CD. Telling someone to make a greatest hits CD of Brotha Lynch is like telling someone to go to an Orange field and having them pick the 10 best oranges. its impossible. its all based on opinion. but in my opinion the 18 tracks selected were great. this is an awsome CD

All I have to say about this record to sum it all up is song #7 (Corpse came to dinner). Put that track on and let your subs DUMP. That is straight up the most hardcore Lynch song Hella tight! Peep it out.

5 out of 5 stars this is the best cd i ever heard.......2002-05-03

this is the best brotha lynch there is....all on one album....siccmade music with ill flows and tight ... beats...and there is some remixes to...buy this cd if you like tight beats with vulgar lyrics

3 out of 5 stars 3 out of 5 compared to the best Lynch Hung.......2002-02-22

Here's the deal with this album... It's good, not great. It doesn't even compare with Season of Da Siccness. There doesn't seem to be any direction... it doesn't really go anywhere. Aside from the usually cryptic lyrics, the compilation is just that... a compilation. The tracks seem disjointed from each other and there really isn't a sense of consistent flow.

Granted, lyrically it's innovative and shocking, but to the average Lynch Hung listener, it's been heard before. The album simply puts new (usually poorer) production to previously heard rhymes.

It's not bad... It's not great... Although I wouldn't be surprised if the album was thrown together in less than a week by removing the old beats from the lyrics and just using them with new beats.

      1 out of 5 stars PURE TRASH.......2005-01-30

I have to agree with the reviewer "Jkabol" who gave this album one star as well. I'm a huge Lynch fan (although his latest stuff in highly under-par with his past efforts). This CD (not album) is nothing more than b-sides ripped from other albums to compile a CRAPPY, HORRIBLE, EAR-BLEEDING compilation. And whoever BP Metro is (the "record company" who released this mess) needs to be taken to court - SERIOUSLY.

Honestly, I sometimes wonder who reviews the music on Amazon! These people give 4 and 5 stars to ANYTHING it seems! The only tracks worth mentioning are Lynch's solo efforts, the classic "Refuse To Lose," "Situation On Dirty," (the latter which was featured on Master P's 'I'm Bout It Soundtrack') the classic "Had To Gat Ya," and "Excalibur" (from "Everybody Killa 4, EBK4"). These songs are either great songs or classics in their own right, and don't need a high rating to give this CD more stars - this CD sucks. I was further annoyed when BP Metro decided to dig up a crappy b-side remix of Mr. Doctor's undisputed classic "Bloccstyle," and place it on the CD. You know this CD is a bootleg because the low-end on Zagg's solo (I believe it's "That Siccness") is the muddiest bottom-end I've ever heard on a marketed disc. To the engineers of the aforementioned track: Have you guys ever heard of an EQ or a compressor?

The verdict? PEOPLE, PLEASE SAVE YOUR HARD-EARNED DOLLARS and purchase some of Lynch's more noteworthy releases, like the incredible "Loaded," classic "Season of da Siccness (The Resurrection)," or the like. Even something like Mr. Doctor's "Bombay" on Black Market is a better purchase. Take care everyone.

5 out of 5 stars MORE SICCNESS ADDED TO THA LIST.......2003-09-11

THIS IS ONE OF LYNCHES BEST CDS NOT COUNTING..... I RECOMMEND LYNCH BY INCH, SEASON OF THE SICCNESS, LOADED, AND APPEARANCES BOOK 1.

5 out of 5 stars You like it but give it 1 star.......2003-06-21

This is a tight CD. Brotha Lynch is a straight up G a lyrical master. I dont know if this CD is a "bootleg" or not, but it is tight.
Refuse to lose and The arguement are my 2 favorite tracks on the CD Refuse to lose being in my opinion the best rap by Lynch

1 out of 5 stars This is theft, hands down.......2003-02-15

Brotha Lynch is one of the very best lyricists in the game. & not only that, he is season'd. Lynch is a master of his craft, and his production is flawless (peep Season of Da Siccness, If These Walls Could Talk & LOADED). Lynch has a lot of talent, and he utilizes his abilities! He can match any beat and produce any flow. He can (& does) meet a rhyme on half of a word. He is well gifted. In fact, you can even hear him on background vocals on some of D.E.'s albums (Planet Zero, BBB, DTDE, etc.). This album is not geniune, however. I mean, the tracks are really good, but they do not match the production, and they have all been released before on many albums. Lynch did not produce this album. This is not an album! This is a collection of g-slides that was ripped from other albums and released by Black Market Records, even though Cedrick Singlton has no rights (per court appointment) to any of Lynch's works. I love Brotha Lynch as an artist, & many of the tracks on this album are great, but I say pass on this cd. DON'T SUPPORT BOOTLEGGING
