Hilarious and Irreverent.......2007-05-09
This is not the Bible as most people remember it, and it is not for those who take the Bible seriously (though the RSC do advise that you literally take the Bible from your hotel room, that's what it's there for). Full of modern satire, witty repartee, and the type of quotes that you can annoy your friends with, it is a must for everyone who enjoys true, intellectual comedy. It is both satire and slapstick, with inside jokes for those familiar with the work of the RSC, jokes at the expense of all religions, jokes at their own expense, and great musical numbers. I thoroughly recommend it, I force all my friends to listen to it. As they say on the CD "If you didn't like it, tell your clergyman; if you liked it, tell both your friends." I've already told both my friends, so here is my review.
One last thing, here is a litmus test to see if you should listen to this recording. In the section on the miracles of Jesus, the bit goes like this: "He taught Christian fundamendalists to be tolerant! Hey, that would be a miracle!" If you found that funny, this is a CD you'll thoroughly enjoy.
Amazing!!!!.......2007-01-10
These guys are amazing!!! The Reduced Shakespeare company is like an embassy of good production plus entertainment plus culture improvement.
Particularly in this Cd, which was taken from a play, we can sense how these guys have creativity "riding" on their veins.
If you purchase this cd please keep your atention at Tower of Babel, The World's Oldest Crucifixion Joke and Jesus is ressurected. I'll say no more and leave you with your curiosity... ehehhehhehe!!!!
Cheers!!!!
Amusing for non- Christians.......2005-02-13
A medium witted piece containing jokes about conservative politics and the bible. As fun as dentistry for all who share a relationship with the living Christ. Non-Christians should walk away with a few laughs and be none the wiser.
FUNNY AS HELL.......2003-07-16
This was so funny! I have the DVD of the Complete Works of Shakespeare, so when I saw this at Borders, I had to purchase it. I love the hilarious interpretations, the tongue-in-cheek humor, and the jokes that you have to know about to understand, like:
"...which most scholars agrue is the definitive point of Genisis [the book], because they still had Peter Gabriel."
This is a must-have for anybody with even the slightest sense of humor and self!
These guys are HYSTERICAL!.......2003-04-30
I got the chance to see them live and I absolutley couldn't stop laughing!

Great recording to show off multichannel system..........2006-05-10
A friend loaned this to me to try on my
multichannel surround/home theater setup.
Wow! This is one of the most LIVE sounding
receodings I've tried. The percussion is
precisely placed in space and theI've just ordered one
for myself. Highly reconmmended!
Excellent DVD Audio .......2006-01-25
This is an excellent DVD Audio disc. It sounds superb on my Denon player. Brilliant DVD Audio sound. The DTS is also good (who would even try the 2 channel if you bought this disc). I recommend this disc to any fan of Brazilian music and anyone interested in fine sound reproduction!
Don't be misguided by the previous post dated 03/20/03!!!.......2004-06-04
This is a great disc. It contains three formats: pcm 2 channel audio, dts, and dvd-a. Don't be confused. I have 3 discs from this series and are highly recommended. See actual description from manufacturer:

Following in the footsteps of the first release, Brazilian Bossa, these surround mixes add a whole new dimension of realism to this valuable collection of the most popular Brazilian-jazz songs of all-time.
Audio Options: 5.1 MLP for DVD-Audio Players; 5.1 DTS for DTS-Capable systems; 2.0 PCM for all DVD-Video players
This is NOT DVD-AUDIO!!!.......2003-05-21
This is DTS's ploy to confuse the public. DVD-A has nothing to do with DTS. This is a DTS encoded disc. It is not even a red book CD!

Customer Reviews:
You have to buy this CD and the other's.......2007-05-13
I purchased this cd by "accident" and boy am I thrilled I had this accident......Bobby Collins is a clean, hystical, and a wonderful comedian for lack of better words. I also purchased his "Out of Bounds" cd which is equally as wonderful. Wish he had more out there. My favorite "skits" on the I wanna go home cd is #11 and #12. So easy to relate to as he talks about his 3 daughters, tripping over hormones, how his cat treats him like kitchen help and how his dog thinks he is just th most wonderful man in the world. If you get the chance buy this cd and have it shipped overnight.
Not bad.......2007-05-07
used to be a great comic. Still is good but too much old material.
Hilarious CD that kept my attention throughout!.......2004-09-03
I was listening to Sirius Sateliite Radio's comedy channel (Raw Dog) and heard a few of Bobby Collin's bits (for the first time) in the last two weeks and I was laughing hysterically after each one. So I went out and bought this CD...
Within an hour I popped it in my car's cd player and listened to it as my wife and I had to run some errands.. There were two sounds in the car while we were listening... silence as we were listening to the set up, and laughter at the payoff! The situations that Bobby talks about hit a little too close to home many times, and his responses to these situations were great...
I will definitely pick up more of his earlier D's in the very near future.. Listen to any of the sample tracks of this album and i think you'll be hooked...

Album Description
The classic Hollywood movie musical-a genre defined by MGM with its films from the 1920s through the 1950s-is among America's most important contributions to popular culture. The timeless music these films delivered wasn't only the sound of Hollywood, but the cornerstone of the great American popular songbook. In 1974 MGM marked its 50th anniversary with That's Entertainment!, a film compilation of its greatest musical moments that allowed longtime fans to re-experience movie music magic on the big screen and introduced new generations to Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire and other legendary stars. That's Entertainment, Part 2 ('76) and That's Entertainment! III ('94') followed, further mining MGM's peerless archives. That's Entertainment! is an essential 6-disc audio companion to these cinematic treasures, presenting the original soundtrack versions of the beloved songs featured in all three films, plus a full CD of previously unissued rarities.
Customer Reviews:
Beware: Look at the older boxed set first.......2007-05-05
Yes, there are 6 CDs in this new set, as there were in the last one. However, there are selections missing in the new set that were included in the old one. If that weren't bad enough, there are selections from the double LP of the first "That's Entertainment" that are missing from the first boxed set. In this new set, they've taken selections from the more famous movies (or, movies whose soundtracks have been released separately, like "Show Boat" and the Garland/Rooney musicals) and trimmed those back. One might miss them--I know I do. Some rarities from the first boxed set, like selections from "The Opposite Sex" and Nancy Walker's "Milkman, Keep Those Bottles Quiet" song--among several others--are not in the new set. If this new set is being marketed as a 'complete' anthology of all three movies, that's terribly misleading--because it's not. I haven't had time to go disk by disk to discover exactly what's missing, but newly-published music on disk 6 clearly comes at the expense of other selections. (Why couldn't this have been 7 disks then?) I only listened once to all the selections of the "new" set to learn if they're worth having in place of the old selections, and it's a judgment call to decide which is more valuable to have. My anger stems from the fact that consumers of this specialty item even have to consider making that decision. Potential purchasers need to be warned that they may want to check very carefully the contents of each boxed set and decide from there. The old set is likely to be available for some time from used vendors, and for people who have an interest in music history, it may turn out to be a collector's item. This new set does not preserve the previous work of saving, remastering, publishing, and annotating; that seems rather ironic in a specialty item that centers around that very idea. This dampens my enthusiasm for the otherwise fine preservation work that everybody did for this set. I wonder whose decision it was not to make it as complete as it clearly should and could have been, because it's very disappointing to have selections disappear without any warning to the consumer.

It was once said by the songwriters of that era - "There are two artists you want perform your songs on the big screen, they are Fred Astaire and Judy Garland, they sing it just the way we wrote it, for which you will have a guaranteed hit on your hands" --- well, this collections certainly has some merit to that statement --- because with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire performing more songs in this ultimate deluxe edition, there must be something to it.
This collection of musicals still has the magic that we remember from those bygone years --- but as long as we have the labels and networks who play and show these wonderful films of yesteryear, they will never be forgotten --- hats off to Rhino Records, George Feltenstein (producer) and Doug Schwartz (engineer) and Turner Classic Movies for sharing newly updated with 25 remastered tracks and an entire disc of previously unused, never-issued outtakes material appearing on CD for the very first time, plus major upgrades in sound quality --- celebrating decades of the tunes and artists that gave it their all...from what it commonly called "The Hollywood Dream Factory" --- The Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals is still among us --- and "That's Entertaiment", gotta love it!

Wow, so many classic songs in one place!.......2006-05-11
I got this box set for my birthday from my daughter and was so eager to open it up and start listening. i have most of these sings but on old vinyl records, they sound so good on CD remastered. I'm really happy i have the collection in one place and the liner notes are fabulous. So many interesting tidbits from my era. The reason to buy this set is also because of the outtakes and demos. it's really cool to hear the raw versions of these songs. I can't praise this enough, i think i'm going to get it for my mother for her birthday.
