One of Hip-Hop's most expressive and UNAPPRECIATED MC's, Wise Intelligent, lays down his first and only solo album in "Killin' U...for Fun." True fans of PRT know all about Wise and it's no big mystery what kind of album this is.

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW...ya betta ask somebody. Haha, okay, Wise is simply a tremendous MC with tons of personality. Fast or slow, he's always got a great flow and comes with crazy conscious lyrics. To be honest, I think he's Hip-Hop's most passionate MC (Boots from "The Coup" is a close, close 2nd). I'm not gonna get into his work with PRT (Wise, Culture Freedom & Father Shaheed), 'cause I could go on for days, but ALL 4 of their albums are GEMS and it's mostly due to Wise. I like to compare him to the 2nd coming of PE's Chuck D, 'cause when PE had fallen off in the early 90's PRT was blowing up and Wise was carrying the socially conscious Hip-Hop torch.

This album was released shortly before PRT's last album, "New World Order," both were released in 1996. I read an article on PRT in a '96 "Rap Pages" and Wise said that this album was just something he had to do on his own. There was no static between the group and they weren't on hiatus as many people suspected.

In this album, we get 12 tracks of Wise puttin' it down as always, but on a slightly higher level of consciousness. The beats aren't as polished as on PRT's previous albums, but the simple production is done really well (courtesy of Tony D, 6-19 & Abscure Rhythms) and it allows Wise to shine without interference. Most songs are either intro-ed or followed by clips of white men conversely puttin' down black folk. This follows suit with the extremely graphic image on the back of the CD...a whole gang of white men (judging by their clothes it was probably 1930-40) gathered proudly around a charred corpse (I assume of a black man) in a bonfire. A warning that this is no ordinary CD.

Track List:

2) Sh**ty Inna City
3) I'll Never Kill Again
4) Freestyle (A Conscious Lyric)
5) Steady Slangin'
6) Black Juice

10) Rastafarian Girl

*There is NO track titled "Killin' U..." like mentioned below, I dunno what he's talkin' about*

Bottom Line: For those who love PRT, this is A MUST HAVE. It's not as good as a PRT album, but it's still a great album and in this day and age people will appreciate a Wise solo album more than ever. I preach about Wise and PRT all the time, and it still seems like nobody knows about them. One last time, Wise Intelligent is one of my Top 10 MC's EVER - he's that dope. 4 stars, Peace.
