This compilation of selections from recordings made between 1975 and 1998, including one previously unreleased to create a framework, is a curious mix. All the pieces are slow, and this being the age of the soundbite, none is longer than five minutes except the Romance by Dvorák, who is also represented by two other popular pieces, specifically arranged to include a cello part for Yo-Yo Ma. Half the program consists of "themes" from movie soundtracks, and the comparison between them is interesting. John Williams, André Previn, and Max Steiner are film composers whose juicy melodies and swooping orchestrations are appropriate to the medium, while William Walton was a "serious" composer whose style retained its austerity in his film music. Two single slow movements, from Chausson's Concerto for Violin, Piano, and String Quartet, and from Brahms's Third Violin Sonata, make one yearn for more. The latter is the only piece on the disc that can reasonably be called "classical;" as for the "rhapsodic" part of the title, it is certainly justified by the performances. Perlman plays everything, whether by Brahms or John Williams, with the same concentration, commitment, and emotional intensity. His expressiveness is always noble and so genuine that there is never a moment of sentimentality or condescension. The program gives him little chance to display his virtuosity, but shows off his glorious tone in all its variety, warmth, and radiance; the climaxes soar with rapturous ecstasy. His partners and accompanying orchestras could not be better. --Edith Eisler

The Greatest .......2007-06-11
Once in a very great while, God creates a musician who even He is in awe of. Itzhak Perlman is simply the greatest violinist who has ever lived. His Violin Concerto (Beethoven) is perhaps the greatest ever recorded, while here his violin expresses the joys and horrors of Cinema Paradiso and Shindler's List, themes not to be missed by anyone.
Enchanting, moving, Perlman is magic!.......2005-04-21
I played the violin growing up and could never imagine it could be played as
beautifully as Perlman can play it. He is unequalled as far as I'm concerned,
but anyone would enjoy this album as it has wonderfully memorable show
tunes like Cinema Paradiso and Schindler's List and the most beautiful
rendition ever of Michel Legrand's If It takes forever, I will wait for you
from UMBRELLAS of CHERBOURG.
It stays in my car CD player where I enjoy it over and over!

Monuments of 20th century quartet writing.......2000-07-01
It's sometimes difficult to figure how the major recording labels think. They deluge us with recordings of the complete Bartok Quartets (great music, no doubt, but dour and not easy to grasp), but ignore the approachable quartets of a fascinating composer like Martinu. (There are only couple of complete cycles of his 7 quartets.)
Once again it's up to the smaller labels to fill the breach. This is Vol. 1 of the Martinu quartets and if the rest match the quality of this recording there will be inexpensive way to explore these wonderfully rich pieces.
The first quartet, written in 1918, mixes a number of the styles of music then being composed. It has echoes of Ravel, Debussy, Dvorak, Janacek & Nielsen. Although it lacks the distintive stamp of Martinu's later music, there is a wonderful spacious quality to much of the music in the first two movements. The third movements reminds one of Dvorak. Perhaps the finale is a bit long, but overall the quartet holds the imagination.
The second quartet is much terser (about half as long as the first) and more characteristic. The winding theme which opens the first movement is immediately memorable and the piece is replete with the bouncy rhythms one associates with this composer.
The disc also includes a 12-minute piece written by the composer at age 12, which suggests that we may get all Martinu's music for string quartet.
The playing of the Martinu Quartet is vital and focused, meeting the composer's varied moods. Perhaps they are not the most plush group, but this is a small quibble. They will win many adherents to Martinu's music with this disc. Bravo Naxos!

Ultra Still Funky For The Nine-Tre (Rating: 9 out of 10- -4.5 stars).......2007-01-02
Two albums under their belt, Ultramagnetic MC's drops their third album together called "The Four Horsemen". On many levels, this can be neck and neck when compared to their classic debut "Critical Beatdown", because they still keep things funky as usual. I haven't heard their second album "Funk Your Head Up" yet, so I really can't say if it's a step up from that album or a step down from that.
There are a few major changes on this album than their first. The obvious change is Ced Gee's voice. It's gotten way deeper than it was on "Critical Beatdown". At first I didn't even notice it was him rhyming until about half way into the album. It's not a bad thing, it actually sounds better. Second is Kool Keith and Ced Gee's rhyme style has changed. It is real hard to notice at first, but listening to this multipule times, you'll pick it up.
As for the songs themselves, they're near perfect. Kool Keith aims at other rappers who overuse old musical samples from legends saying "I don't need Zapp, I don't need Anthrax". Ced Gee would pull a sequel to Critical Beatdown with his song "Delta Force II" which I think is better than the first one. Keith and Ced would get togther to do some tracks on the album together. "The Saga Of Dandy, The Devil, & Day" is a dedication to the Negro Legue baseball. They also manage to keep things funky with the songs "Two Brothers With Checks" and "We Are The Horsemen" and the sex cut "Big Booty".
Most of the production is kept within the Ultramagnetic fam. Some of the tracks were produced by Godfather Don, who does the last verse on "Raise It Up". Moe Luv does a good job scratching in the samples in most songs, and he gets his own solo cut on "Adventures Of Herman's Lust". TR Love holds down the piano and the percussion which makes a nice addition towards the album.
The only small problem that I have is the Kool Keith song "One Two, One Two". I personally just wasn't feeling that one.
Overall, I enjoyed this album. Each member doesn't dissapoint on this album. Unfortunately, this was the last album that they made before the group split up, and all those basement mixtapes surfaced. Like I said before, I believe it's on the same level with "Critical Beatdown" but with a more '93 flavor. If you're a Kool Keith/Ultramagnetic fan, I recommend this one to you. Unfortunately this one is out of print (like everything made by Wild Pitch Records). I was able to find a copy for less than $10, good condition, but to some people, it's worth the search.

Stop Sleepin..........2006-10-12
This album is mad underrated. Of course not as good as critical beatdown, but a classic none the less. Production is classic early-90's NY *hit, and Ced and Keith are on point on the mic...
Instant classic ! .......2006-02-18
2006. I am converting my cd collection for use in my Ipod. Checking amazon for some reviews of some of the greatest hiphop albums ever, i am very surprised to see no review yet, so let me have the honour :)
This albums is an instant classic, real underground ultramagnetic flavour. The cd even sounds like old vinyl, definitely no remastering done here! But that just adds to the old skool flavour!
It has that 93 flavour, that yo mtv raps, boombap, east coast, battle rapping, 1-2 1-2, mic check, starter jacket wearing, thousand men posse posing in the video feeling.
Kool Keith still rapping ON beat. T.R. Love, Ced Gee and DJ Moe Love.
Nuff said, pick it up, pick it up, pick it up!

Great cassette if you can find it..........2007-04-04
The one's selling now are selling at "collectible" prices but occasionally someone puts one up at a lower price. I found one for about $5 including shipping ! My favorite cassette for my old car that still has a cassette player ! Despite Nirvana and Pearl Jam getting the bulk of the pub back in 1991, this was one of the years best...
Like other reviewers before me have said..........2006-07-26
Like other reviewers before me have said, this is a true gem! Its like if you took the first Little Caesar cd, mixed it with ACDC's Powerage, and added a little bit of the first Dangerous Toys cd. True, straight up, hard driving rock and roll with the integrity of Motorhead and a sense of humor to go with it. Unlike the flavor of the year bands, the Four Horsemen truly had the spirit of rock and roll.
This is a great Rock'n Roll album.......2006-07-25
I Love this album. It's so great Rock'n'Roll!!!!!
One of my all ltime favorites..........2005-10-28
I don't remember where I first heard this band but I am glad I did. I have both albums - "Gettin Pretty Good..." and "Nobody Said It Was Easy" I love them both. Hard rocking songs to get me motivated. Great CD for driving alone, volume turned way up!!! If you like Southern Rock, both of these should be in your collection.
Bad Ass R & R.......2004-12-30
1991 - Grand Rapids Michigan, home to one of the best live music venues in western MI, Club Eastbrook, it was a typical evening, cool, yet warm fall weather, the smell of grass burning everyware, and the realization that you have a ticket to one of the hottest shows in town, "The Four Horsemen." Fresh off their first album, "Nobody Said It Was Easy", they were the night's headliner. They ripped into their set with a vengence, every song was incredible including the radio mainstays - "Nobody Said It Was Easy", "Rockin Is My Business" and "Tired Wings." The backbone of the album, these were the best songs on the radio at the time. With one of the most sought after producers, Rick Rubin, controlling their destiny they spit out one of the years best rock albums. No Nirvana didn't kill rock, a bunch of horrible albums by the giants did but not before The horsemen had their say. Although they accomplished more on their first album then Fred Durst will ever have, they didn't have a closer, I've heard their second album was good but it received zero radio play. Unfortunately Frank Starr passed away in the mid-ninties but they will always be an essential piece of automotive stereo hardware. One of the last great rock albums of the 90's before grunge and Clear Channel took over............

Customer Reviews:
The best Metallica covers.......2005-12-26
This is by now the best Metallica Tribute album I've ever heard. Those bands (mostly form Europe) did a great job covering Metallica, but some are horrible.
1. Seek & Destroy.
German Power Metal band, Primal Fear, starts with one of Metallica's most catchy songs. Excellent opening, one of my favourites from this album, except for the guitar solos.
2. Fight Fire With Fire.
Awesome song, the "flute" beginning is extremely good and afterwards, the fury is released by an excellent Black/Thrash/Death Metal melody. You can feel the the greatness of this song. Guitars, drums, bass and vocals are awesome. My favourite of this album.
3. Whiplash.
A great Thrash cover from a great Thrash band: Destruction. This guys rock, the song is excellent. Another of my favourites.
4. Phantom Lord.
The only american band covers this song, it's great, since it's Anthrax who is playing. Another of the favourites.
5. Fade to Black.
This song is a classic nowadays, Sonata Arctica does a great job with this song, even though it's slow.
6. Master of Puppets.
What happened? Everything was ok, perfect guitars, excellent bass and drums... but what the hell, Death Metal is not good for this song. It's a classic, those Death Metal vocals spoil the whole song.
7. My Friend of Misery.
I never thought of Dark Tranquility playing Metallica, but they do. One of Metallica's darkest song, pefectly covered by this Death Metal band. Another favourite.
8. One.
This cannont be, it doen't hear like Metallica. The song is far more slow than the original. The beginning is decent, since it is the ballad part but the fastest part, where all the speed is released, sucks. It's still slow and they cut it a lot. There is no other cover for this song like Apocalyptica's, that one rules.
9. Eye of the Beholder.
In Flames does a nice job with this song. No Death Metal vocals! Even though they play Death Metal, the vocals are "clean"... reminds me Opeth.
10. Welcome Home (Sanitarium).
Thunderstone's turn. Not bad at all, enjoyable although there better covers for this song.
11. The Memory Remains.
Skip this song, this doesn't deserve to be in this album. First of all... it's too techno, although the disc have been presenting Metallica's classics, the original is far from this cover. Horrible, too much face paint and none quality.
12. Wherever I May Roam.
A powerful song, even though it is a little bit slow. But where's the intro? It goes directly to the "presentation of the song"; anyway, good song.
13. Damage Inc.
An excellent song for closing this album. Tankard is a great Thrash Metal band and the song is way to good. It presents a cool ending with a BURP, definetely Tankard.
This is it, now go and listen the album. Those Blackest tributes are garbage, better go for this one or Metallic Attack.
Great C.D. For The Everyday Metallica Fan.......2004-12-16
This compilation of songs is phenominal. Truly some of the best Metallica songs ever. On Such tracks as Seek & Destroy, Phantom Lord, Fade To Black, Master Of Puppets, One, and many more. The bands on album are also great. Bands like Anthrax, Destruction, Crematory, Thunderstone, In Flames, are extraordinary. They remind me of a young Metallica.
AWESOME!!, but WHY "The Memory Remains"???????.......2003-12-28
I usually don't buy tribute albums, most of em suck 90 percent of the time, but I had a gift certificate to Borders and I saw this while browsing around- I really like all of the bands on here so I decided to why not give it a try- WOW! This is one of the best tribute albums EVER! Great pre-Black Album classics like "Seek & Destroy", "Damage Inc", and of course "One" and "Master of Puppets" done amazingly by In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Arch Enemey, and other great bands from the Nuclear Blast label.
The only reason I had to give it 4 stars was because of "The Memory Remains"- wtf???? why waste a track with THAT awful song-where's "Creeping Death" or "For Whom the Bell Tolls"???? also there IS one black album song.. "Wherever I May Roam",, but that's ok.. that's one of the more tolerable black album songs I guess...
Pick this up if you are a metalhead, THIS is the REAL Metallica tribute, unlike that God-forsaken "MTV Icon"....
I have also heard that this label also has an Iron Maiden tribute album called "Tribute to the Beast"- if they can do a Metallica tribute this good,, my mouth is watering thinking about what the Maiden tribute will sound like!!!! must find that... must find that....
A tribute album that gets my salute.......2003-12-09
For those of you that are weary about buying this CD because you are thinking this is going to be another garbage tribute album by bar bands, don't be because these are top-notch metal bands with the talent to cover these classic Metallica tunes yet putting there own twist on the songs. Though you may not recognize some of the groups, don't worry, that's because they are European metal masters (except for one group). They are very popular over there but have yet to make it to the states. Now I will go over every song. For some reason, the version I have only had 13 tracks and some are different fromt he tracklisting amazon provides. I assume Nuclear Blast either changed the tracklisting before release.
01. PRIMAL FEAR - SEEK & DESTROY
This German metal band gives a pretty standard rendition of the Kill 'Em All classic. Nothing really different but they do a good job covering it.
02. THERION - FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE
A very unique cover from the Swedish death metal band. The track starts off with keyboards, but then turns into an all out metal assault. The vocalist sings normally for most of the song, but when it comes to the chours "fight fire with fire", its high pitched death metal vocals baby! One of the standout tracks!
03. DESTRUCTION - WHIPLASH
This German thrash band gives my favorite cover on the CD. This crazy band actually speeds up the song and makes it like a Nuclear Explosion. I love when they come to the lyric "We're Metallica" and they say "We're Not Metallica". It made me chuckle.
04. ANTHRAX - PHANTOM LORD
The only American band on this CD, but what's also strange is that these guys were among the strong metal forces right alongside Metallica inthe 80's. Would Metallica do a song for an Anthrax tribute? I think not. Anthrax rules! And so does this cover!
05. SONATA ARCTICA - FADE TO BLACK
A softer version of the classic Metallica ballad from this Finnish band with some really awsome singing vocals. Good job!
06. BURDEN OF GRIEF - MASTER OF PUPPETS
Master of Puppets done death metal style! Totally kick @ss! This German band does a great job covering the ENTIRE song!
07. DARK TRANQUILITY - MY FRIEND OF MISERY
My second favorite cover after Destructions rendition of Whiplash. This Swedish band makes there staple on this dark classid with some awsome death metal vocals.
08. CREMATORY - ONE
An odd cover by the German gothic masters. Portrays odd normal singing vocals mixed with odd Death Metal vocals.
09. IN FLAMES - EYE OF THE BEHOLDER
This Eurpean melodic Death Metal band is actually becoming popular in the U.S., but In Flames fans will be surprised that there is no Death Metal vocals on this track. This was recorded with In Flames original singer before they went Death Metal. It still is a very good cover.
10. THUNDERSTONE - WELCOME HOME (SANITARIUM)
I'm not real big ont his cover. It's alright, but nothing spactacular. There are many better covers before this.
11. THE KOVENANT - THE MEMORY REMAINS
This track doesn't fit along with the others on this disc not just because its a newer Metallica song, but also that its more techno. This was not a good cover and by far is the weakest track on this disc. Apparently I'm just not a fan of this band from Norway that loves to use facepaint
12. SINNNER - WHEREVER I MAY ROAM
A good cover from the german metal band that contains members of Saxon. Nothing really different from the Metallica original, but great none-the-less
13. TANKARD - DAMAGE INC.
This German band that loves alcohol more than music does a credable job covering this Master of Puppets signature song. I really liked how they ended the song with a "burp".
Metallica fans will finally be happy with a tribute disk. No more "Blackest Album" garbage. Nuclear Assault delivers the real thing here. Don't hesitate to buy this Disc!
Really Good for a Tribute Album.......2003-11-22
This album is really good, and has some Nuclear Blast heavyweights on here(Anthrax, Therion, Sonata Arctica, In Flames, and Dark Tranquillity) The only griefs I had with this tribute was the order, as in the energy on this album starts really ferocious, and then bottoms out kind of pre-maturely. Aside from the order, the other grief was a couple of songs that really didn't fit. Die Krupp's didn't belong with the rest of the album, and would have been better staying in the "Blackest Album", an industrial metallica tribute album. I like Apocalyptica, but it just didn't belong with the rest of the album, as well.

Customer Reviews:
Previn was brilliant on this one........2007-01-06
The actual movie was just so-so but the music of Andre Previn provided a filmscore which gave the movie whatever potential it may have ever realized. It's a large work and if you want a great taste of it, click on track 11. Interesting trivia on this one, Previn's second wife, Dorey, (Mia Farrow was his third! Woo-Woo!) wrote the lyrics for those tracks which required them. I'm pretty certain that this was the only significant work that they ever collaborated on. In any case, this one is a winner for classical music lovers. You'll get a mix-match of Previn's mature atonal slant plus many of his more melodius works. I thought "Honey and Rue" (With Kathleen Battle singing soprano, which I have heard her sing live) was a spectacular work and this soundtrack rates equally with that notable piece. A "must have" for your collection.

One More Great Percy Faith Twofer by Collectables.......2006-02-12
Two big qualities distinguish the late Percy Faith.
First of all he was an original arranger with all those strings combined as if in a brass section in a unique sound. Second of all, he was a staff arranger for Columbia Records what gave him the opportunity to work on memorable albums by Johnny Mathis and other singers.
This twofer shows two different approaches: the first 12 takes came from his splendid album 'The Love Godessess' full of Mr. Faith's own compositions for films and TV series like 'The Virginian'. They're such inspired songs like the title song and 'Celia's Waltz'.
The second 12 takes came from another album with a miscellaneous movie soundtrack repertoire. They're such great songs by great composers but Mr. Faith's arrangements do not add any special flavor to the originals.
A special note on Collectables Records regarding its extraordinary series of twofers which have finally issued virtually all Percy Faith material.
"Miklos Rozsa epic film scores ~ Percy Faith".......2003-07-04
Every week I would go to the downtown library and check out the latest albums (LP's) ~ my eyes would always look for the Percy Faith releases. One of my favorites was "The Love Goddesses", featuring compositions by Maestro Faith, something about his string arrangements drew me to this album. At that time I had a reel-to-reel recorder/player and cassette recorder, would tape every album by Mr. Faith I could get my hands on. Later I would go to Webster Records the local record store in Old Webster, Mo. and purchase his latest releases.
Entire album is a stand out, but here are some of the highlights ~ "MARILYN", beautiful haunting melody as strings and counter strings open, blending a harp that keeps reoccurring in your head ~ "THE VAMP", solo clarinet with plunking violins, enters the solo violin and full strings answer, simply beautiful ~ "OUR LOVE", is typical Percy Faith with an arrangement to die for ~ "CELIA'S WALTZ", a solo saxophone comes forward with counterpoints from Faith's famous string section, the melody gets under your skin and becomes intoxicating ~ "OBA! (BOSSA NOVA)", what is a Percy Faith album without Latin flavor, and this is what he does best.
Second half of the album is "Hollywood's Great Themes", opening with "EL CID(LOVE THEME), "THEME FROM KING OF KINGS" and "BEN HUR(LOVE THEME)" the legendary Miklos Rozsa could do no wrong when it came to epic films, Faith's brilliant arrangement puts the listener right up there on the big screen ~ "MARIA", the wonderful song from "West Side Story" that will go one forever ~ "THEME FROM LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA", a heart-wrenching film with a light floating melody that lingers on, just take a listen to Faith's strings in top form ~ what a classic arrangement from the git-go!
Total Time: 72:52 on 24 Tracks ~ Collectables 7478 ~ (3/19/2002)
Uneven outing for Faith.......2002-05-20
This twofer, with over 70 minutes of music, provides a showcase for Faith-penned tunes and some lesser known hits from Hollywood. The Love Goddess finds the Faith arrangements full of his trademark strings, but several hits are distinctive in that Faith employs the brassiness of a big band sound, especially on Cheesecake. Keystone Kapers, with whistles and bells, is forgetful, but other selections are an easy listen. Hollywood's Great Themes contains selections that certainly would not make anyone's list of great themes from Hollywood. Would you pick the love theme from Ben Hur, or the theme from Light in the Piazza, or how about Over and Over Again from Jumbo? The only real Hollywood classic here is Moon River, though Faith does add a smattering of Richard Rodgers, with Hart and Hammerstein.
Love Goddesses/Hollywoods Great Themes.......2002-03-23
The Love Goddesses from 1964 is a fairely good album by Faith and oneI'm glad to add to my collection. This album is more jazzeier than a lot of Faith's other albums. Some songs are very lush such as Marilyn Our Love,The Monoco Theme,The Love Goddess,Chico Bolero, and Celia's Waltz. The other songs on this album are upbeat with incarnations of jazz especially Cheesecake.Oba is a bossa nova and is pretty good. All songs from the Love Goddesses album was written by Percy Faith himself.Hollywood's Great Themes from 1962 is movie themes and some are very good. This album features light strings with the exception of the last two Theme From The Four Horseman Of The Apocalypse and Theme From Light In The Plazza These two have heavy strings. My favorite is Splendor In The Grass. This album was only available on cassette several years ago beforecollectibles, taragon, good music and ranwood came along with Faith reissiues.Back then only 4 albums were out by Faith and 2 cassettes this one and Deep Purple which were hard to find than.Liner Notes are included for the Love Goddesses but are not included for Hollywoods Great Themes.Another great 2 on 1 album with 2 great albums by Faith.

Ultramagnetic Still Funky For The Ninety Tree (4.5 stars).......2006-08-14

My favorite Tracks: Two Brothers With Checks (San Franscisco, Harvey), Raise It Up, Saga Of Dandy, The Devil, & Day, Ced Gee (Delta Force II), Don't Be Scared, Time To Catch A Body, Big Booty
Excellence, but not exactly, Critical Beatdown excellence........2003-06-18
The Ultramagneitc MC's Four Horsemen is like it's counterpart Critical Beatdown, in the fact it's ultramodern sound practically runs circles around other hip-hop albums, leaving the competition in the dust. However, it's not as groundbreaking, and lacks that element that made Critical Beatdown so damn attention-grabbing.
On the bright side of things, nonetheless, this is an Ultramagnetic MC's album, and is worth every penny you pay for it. Each and every track has a different concept, except for the repetitive baseball references, which turn out to be a great addition to the album's overall value. When comparing Four Horsemen to Critical Beatdown, it seems as if Kool Keith takes a couple of steps back, but has Nas ever topped Illmatic? Has Krs-One topped Return of the Boom Bap? Didn't think so. Overall, great album.
True Skool Hip-Hop Classic!.......2001-09-26
Fantastic album. I bought this album when in came out back in 1993 and never stopped listening to it. Tim Westwood would play it non-stop on the Capital Rap Show weeks before it came out. So many great songs from start to finish. This is also one of the first albums to successfully use live instruments and make them sound like samples. Pure funky rap music and phenomenal lyrics from Kool Keith (check out his verse on Raise It Up - out of this world).
Its a shame these four guys (Kool Keith, Ced Gee, Moe Luv and TR Love) never got the props they deserved and never made another album together, because this group was one of Hip-Hops most original and most finest.
Once it went in the player it never came out..........2001-09-18
...and that was how many years ago?
A hip hop power trio that is Kool Keith, Ced Gee, and DJ Moe Love. This album came out years ahead of its time. "They sound kinda crazy, Kool Keith is a psycho, Ced Gee is a scientist, the lyrics are hypo..." The production is raw Delta four track. The beats, loops, and musical tangents are amazing. And the rhymes are so hilarious, I'm still bouncing quotes off fellow Ultramagnetic fans all over the world. I love Kool Keith in all his solo guises, but his performance on Four Horsemen is so near and dear to my heart that it's hard beat as a sentimental favorite. Especially when you have Ced balancing out the mix with his understated monotone baritone style.
Oh yeah, and Godfather Don's cameo is nice.
Lyrical subject matter on Four Horesmen is miles beyond what they had done in the past on albums like "Funk Up Your Head" and even "Critical Beatdown" (though I'll be quick to point out that that album is a classic in own rights for different reasons). Of course, there's a cubic ton of excellent boasting, bragging, and dissing, and Ultramagnetic style spawned all kinds of imitators...Doodoo disses started with Kool Keith...Mocking R&B hits...Arena rock fantasy intros...Star Trek style as done here, has been copied, but to date, not topped...And I've never heard hip hop with so many great baseball references. "The Saga of Dandy, The Devil, and Day" is even an entire tribute to the Negro Leagues. Albums like this, tight from start to finish, are hard to come by.
What makes this album classic? (No particular order): Raise it Up. Two Brothers With Checks. One Two, One Two. Checkin' My Style brings in the old hot jazz bisquits with a little bit of that blues butter. We Are the Horesmen (enter your spaceship!!).
Ah, man. Just talking about these songs...I gotta go put it on.
Just remember this: Whole world...down with the horsemen.
Great record.
