Editorial Reviews
Vibe
The group successfully blend hip hop sensibilities with a '70s funk sound and style, and their superior debut, The Game of Funk, is full of sultry ballads, including the Isley Brothers-inspired "Y'All I Want" and "Don't Wanna Let You Go."

5 out of 5 stars So so good at guitar.......2007-07-19

Obviously every song has mind blowing guitar. The best being the end of Physical Love where Senor Hazel is playing some of the most intense guitar i've ever heard. The problem is that the guitar on that part is the least prominent instrument, but there is some sweet synth keyboard I think Bernie Worrell was playing his keyboard underwater. Anywho California Dreamin', Physical Love, and What about it? sell this cd. The "I want you (She's so heavy)" cover is fantastic and has a good little jam in between. Frantic Moment and So goes the story are odd, but who cares it's Eddie Hazel. For those of you who don't know Eddie Hazel is one of the greatest guitartists of all time, but unfortunately had a short life like many other musicians. Rest in P Eddie.
PS. There is quote that describes funk perfectly in the liner notes.

5 out of 5 stars Great Guitar Thangs.......2006-12-09

This is a must have for funk fans. Eddie Hazel is a true genius on the lead guitar and never fully received his props. The guitar work on this album gives you an idea of what true guitar work is. The songs are for sure G. Clinton induced but, when you hear California Dreamin' or "I Want You", you are in for a true treat and experience. Buy this album! If you want to know real guitar, listen to Eddie "maggot Brain" Hazel!!!!

5 out of 5 stars A TRUE GENIUS & LEGEND.......2006-12-07

EDDIE HAZEL- Let me start by saying I'm 53 yrs. old and still "FUNKIN"! I first heard Funkadelic around 1969-70. The song was "Mommy What's a Funkadelic". I knew right then & there I had heard the 3rd phase of funk, the first the god farther JB, the second being Sly. God, these were the most slammin brothers on the planet, and they featured one of the most(if not the slamminist guitarist I had ever heard. Next to Jimi Hendrix who in my opinion wasn't as smooth as this cat but was the god of guitar at that time. George Clinton had special gift for finding talented musical genuises and this was his first. The orignal cut of Maggot Brain is classical stuff, Truly this lp is classical, genius, magic that only happens once in a lifetime. A masterpiece & must have. Truly RIP EDDIE!!!

3 out of 5 stars Not top-knotch Pac.......2007-05-13

Decent price, came on time. Don't expect this CD to be as good as the other 2Pac albums.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good I Guess.......2007-04-26

Loyal To The Game is alright, I just felt Eminem used too much of his own style when he made the actual music though

Crooked N***a Too (remix), and Loyal To The Game (DJ Quick remix) were better though, they were more 2Pac's style

All in all, It's alright.

4 out of 5 stars HOW DO U KNOW THAT?.......2007-04-01

How DO you really know that 2Pac wouldn't roll with Eminem and 50 Cent? I mean he sure as hell wouldn't roll with the imposer of himself, Ja Rule!

But anyway, this release from Amaru/Interscope records really surpassed some of the Pac's after-death material that has been being released recently. While seemingly stronger than "Pac's Life" and other crap that's been coming out, it doesn't seem to surpass his own actual album when he was still alive, but then again, you have to give props to Em in creating a still dope album.

While some of the rhymes seem screwed with and Pac's voice is enhanced to say "G-Unit" and such on a certain track, Eminem's style and production is what keeps people listening...see, what most people don't know or recognize is that Shady is just as good of a producer of beats as he is and emcee.

It is definitely a much better choice than the lame and falsely-acclaimed flop, "Pac's Life".

Cameos include Eminem, G-Unit, Nate Dogg, the Outlawz, Sleepy Brown, Big Syke and many more...

Top Songs:
1.) Ghetto Gospel feat. Elton John
2.) A Crooked N***a Too
3.) Do For Love
4.) Out on Bail
5.) Black Cotton feat. Eminem, Kastro, and Young Noble

2 out of 5 stars The third murder of Tupac.......2006-12-14

What was Afeni thinking when she let Eminem executive produce this whole album? His beats are zany and painful to the ears and sometimes his beats sound like just plain noise. Its bad enough Em screws up his songs with crummy beats and has him saying G-unit and Shady but to put him on tracks with Elton John(Em's boytoy), G-unit and Obie Trice? C'MON! You and I know he would never made songs with these guys. Standout Tracks: The last for songs on the album that werent produced by Em: PO N***A BLUES(vintage Tupac joint, pretty deep), HENNESSY, CROOKED N***A TOO and LOYAL TO THE GAME REMIX(Dj Quik's verse was fire!). Ghetto Gospel would have been a standout tracks if werent for that campy beat and Elton John(WTF!!!!!) on the hook. Albums like these make me sad because it shows what people do to save their careers from extinction. STOP CAPITALIZING OFF DEAD PEOPLE YOU F****NG PARASITES. REST IN PEACE TUPAC AMARU SHAKUR AND F*** YOU EMINEM AND SUGE KNIGHT!

5 out of 5 stars stop judging Afeni and Marshall.......2006-11-04

Now listen, Loyal to The Game is an essential to have. Don't listen to all the haters who downplay this album. Now I am a longtime 2pac fan, maybe some stuff you say about the 'putting words in Pac's mouth' and 'speeding up'/'tampering with vocal' is true but give marshall a break. Put yourself in Eminem's(marshall) shoes. What if you were the producer-you'd want a false shout out, you'd want your artists to have credentials, and you'd want to somehow match YOUR beats with Pac. By any means necessary you'd do the above if it was you. Afeni gave Eminem full creative control and by all means he took control. Don't judge the man for that. i still think this is some of Tupac's hottest posthumas $h*! since RU Still Down or Makaveli the Death Row set. Pac's vocals aren't that bad nor the beats, it's cool to hear uncanny shoutouts, and by god 2pac w/ 50 cent that's good! Now stop hatin' you ungrateful ******** and listen to what Afeni and Marshall think 2pac should sound like on Loyal to the Game, and remember this only Loyal to the Game-em production wise it's only a one time deal with Em and Pac so listen! Be on lookout for Pac's life!

The first voice you hear on the new Snoop record is that of Master P, introducing the latest recruit to the No Limit army. It's a message, albeit a subtle one: in the team game of hip-hop, there's been a trade, and our man P gained the advantage. Da Game... is Snoop's first release on the label, and it is a No Limit release through and through--in spite of the fact that, in the context of No Limit's marketing megalopoly, Snoop's Merlot mixes poorly with the rest of the crew's Asti Spumanti. Fortunately, his flow has always been blessed with a Southern swing, and the Beats by the Pound gumbo funk is a natural for the Doggfather, even if there's little on the album that pushes the creative envelope. As for Snoop himself, he spends ample time attempting to evoke previous glories with the uninspired "Gin & Juice II" and "Still a G Thang," though his strongest moments come with Mia X on "Slow Down" and with Mystikal and C-Murder on "See Ya When I Get There," both classic No Limit material. --Jon Caramanica

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Snoop Attempts to Resurrect Himself on No Limit With Mediocre Results.......2007-06-07

Unlike consistent early albums like 'Doggystyle', this No Limit release contains alot of filler and useless tracks. Some of No Limit's goons on here sound out of place with Snoop on here as well, but C-Murder, Mystikal and Silkk the Shocker do a commendable job here.

As for the songs, 'Slow Down' has a nice beat (though the lyrics leave much to be desired). 'Woof!' is fantastic, and includes Mystikal on it who adds his trademark crazy flow to it. 'Gin & Juice II' is not nearly as good as the classic we all know and love, but it's still a decent remake that is much better than track 10, 'Still a G Thang', which is a typical boring track on here. 'Tru Tank Dogs' and 'Game Of Life' have some interesting beats but only decent lyrics (it's No Limit though, so what do you expect...?). 'Dp Gangsta' is a very nice track, and the cheesy No Limit production is actually pretty nice there.

As for the rest... it's a mish-mash of the good, bad, and boring. I never cared about No Limit before and this is the only No Limit album in my collection (my friend left a Master P cd over my house once and I thought it was s**t), but this is an alright release. There's simply too much filler on it and the No Limit production sounds outdated (you can tell what year this is from). But when it's all said and done, 'Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not To Be Told' ends up being a decent listen.

3 out of 5 stars Not His Worst.......2006-07-17

Snoop attempted to resurrect his career by joining No Limit after Deathrow crashed. This is his first No Limit release and it is not his worst album but nothing compared to the deathrow releases. I'm not going to judge this album on its comparison to his early albums but he could have done better for this. He still has his lazy, Laid back voice which you just can't dislike but this album needed the following
1. Guest appearances by the people he rapped with while on deathrow not these talentless, annoying no limit characters
2. Part of the reason some of his other albums became famous was because they were produced by Dr Dre. Dr Dre gives great beats etc and Snoop needs those.
However these tracks aren't all that bad and seeing i'm a big Snoop fan I can appreciate all his albums even though I rather Snoop Doggy Dogg. My favourite song would have to be the single "Still A G Thang" but some other good tracks are DP Gangsta, Game Of Life, Ain't Nuthin Personal, Snoop World, I Can't Take The Heat, Woof!, Gin & Juice II and Doggz Gonna Get Ya.

4 out of 5 stars still ah g thang.......2005-07-22

I like this album snoops wit no limit I wolud say 60% of this album is tight but there songs thats just off the chain thoe there was a movie to this album but I nevah seen it I would get it thoe tight songs are 1,3,4,10"dpg!",13,14,17,19,21 tha best! piece.

2 out of 5 stars Misleaded.......2005-05-07

I should've listened to my instinct and moved on to another CD, but instead listened to my friend....This album did not do anything for me...Too bad it cost me $17 in 1998. I tried to trade it and they didn't want it....hmm.

I give it two stars, one for the effort with another label and another for the artwork.

5 out of 5 stars C-walk G , from LONG BEACH to little rock and back.......2005-03-28

A real gangsta rap. I like it a lot better than his new sh*t. Snoop got caried away alittle with the money , but is all good if is from the hood. MY favorite song is "GAME OF LIFE" and don't forget it , only listen to this album when yo smoke.

This 8 CD Set is the indispensable companion to GRAND THEFT AUTO: SAN ANDREAS. The 8 CD's are loaded with the music featured inside the game.

About the Game: Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas, a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.

Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster. On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the next installment in the blockbuster franchise that has redefined interactive entertainment.

Brought this game for a friend. He loves it. States the graphics are great. Price was great compared to store prices. Game arrived undamaged.

3 out of 5 stars WTF!?!.......2005-09-26

ok ok ok you do NOT make a GTA CD box with country music in it i mean come on. Mabye when your playing the game but i dont think its right to have one hole frickin' CD dedicated to country music in a GTA box. Also Radio Los Santos has to share a CD with Playback. Obviously the only reason your gana buy this is because of the great rap and mabye for the old school dance music you might share with your parents... NOT LOL!!!
Finally they also cut out some of the best songs from the game
which include "187" Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre, "The Ghetto" (my favorite song) Too Short and many more. Even though they did have did have Slick Rick, Kid Frost and 2pac. There just wasnt enough rap in this box. If they took out the country and had Radio Los Santos have its own CD this would be perfct!

3 out of 5 stars Incomplete........2005-09-06

That about says it all. Now I respect the quality products from Rockstar, although this isn't one of them. Why again must some of the best songs from the radio station be missed out again? I remember the days of Vice City, singing along to the tracks which were unavailable on the soundtrack when it was released separately. Thankfully not many were missed out and I was available to obtain them another way legally. However a huge amount are missed this time. I don't know if it's down to record companies or the artists not letting their songs be placed on or some random with a distaste for the public but one thing's for sure it certainly is inconvenient. Ah well, there's always next time.

4 out of 5 stars All Rights Reserved.......2005-08-03

Well well well. This is the uber game with the uber sound track right? In some respects it is, 8 discs, better cover art and more songs for almost the same price. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, was a smash success for many reasons, one of them in my opinion was the inclusion of the music. I guess I'm a closet 80's music person since I didn't know much about it, but after that game I was out in the store checking out Flock of Seagulls albums. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a great game but I guess I'm not a fan of the 90's as I thought I was, especially music. The discs are set up like music cds, I miss the D.J. interface that Vice City had for each disc, made it personal in a way and the inclusion/exclusion of certain songs can be maddening. I mean why have "Welcome 2 the Jungle" on the commercials but not the ultimate soundtrack? Sure licensing issues aside, I enjoy the pack but again I guess I found out I'm not a 90's type music guy. The only big disappointment on the disc was K-Rose, the country disc. 99% of the songs were not even close to that decade. . . Not to say I want *gulp* Acky Breaky Heart, but hey, it's the time not the quality of music. Good price for the amount of music but not the same for fans of the Vice City ultimate pack.

3 out of 5 stars good collection, but WHY BUY IT?.......2005-07-21

I can see why you might buy this if you don't own the game and just like the songs on the mix, but if you own the PC version of the game you can just listen to the tracks in the car or extract them to Ogg Vorbis and expand them onto CD if you want to.

So I can't really see why if you own the PC game you'd still buy this.

Having said that, I like the selection, and like the Vice City box set (which you can extract to MP3 from the PC game) it has slightly different DJ chatter, which is always funny.

Just try to behave yourself when you put it in your car stereo. Remember, you're NOT playing the game then. It's real life.

5 out of 5 stars NO FLUFF HERE ! ! !.......2006-12-23

Ahh.... 'The End of the Game' !!! It's like an old friend. I was turned on to this record way back in the early 70's, a couple of years after it was originally released. The nasty cassette tape my good friend gave me was recorded from his LP that was in bad condition. Scratchy, full of pops, and skips, but WOW! what a mind blowing, late night recording! Especially thru headphones in the wee morning hours (a footnote: This session was recorded one late night into the early morning hours with lots of spontaneous improve, like great Jazz artist). I searched for years for the impossible to find LP. As the decades when by, I managed to fine 3 vinyl copies (out of print $$$). I finally scored the import CD several years back ($30). The only disappointment with the CD version is the very last sound, at the end of the last track. On the vinyl, the last thing you hear is the needle getting knocked of the record (to show it is record on a turn table) That the title 'Game' meant that Peter felt the recording industry was a game, that they did not want to really hear what the artist wanted to play from his heart & soul, but just wanted pop hits that they could cash in on. Fittingly, this was the last we heard from him for the next 9 years (as he walked away from the recording industry game). This is not a recording for everybody, nor should it be. It is for people that understand a great artist, and are opened minded enough to listen what he is saying thru his musical expression, thru his talent as an artist. Peter has the ability to make his guitar cry! If that does not touch you, you should stick with the mainstream fluff, farther up the FM dial.

5 out of 5 stars Patience Yields Rewards - Great Guitar!.......2006-11-16

Having been a dedicated Fleetwood Mac fan (until they abandoned the blues for pop) I was well aware of Peter Green's reputation and playing. When he dropped out of sight after leaving Mac, many of us wondered when and if he'd reappear. He did - with this all instrumental album. At the time this came out, I was only used to hearing Green play in the context of a song or short jams like "Searching for Madge"/"Fighting for Madge" on "Then Play On," so this album didn't grab me. Even in 1970 at the age of 17 I was getting tired of long 'guitar jam' music, since there was an overabundance of it and most of it frankly sucked.

BUT!............

Once I got past the fact that there was no singing and really started listening to this album, it became aparent that Green wasn't simply noodling. The improvs build and climax and subside nicely. There are, to be honest, places where the mood sags a bit, but this is easily overlooked and balanced out by the (many)places where Green's playing catches fire. When he's on - which is often here - he's really on. What Clapton took ten notes to say, Green could say with one or two, which often led to him being overlooked by those addicted to the flashier playing of Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Beck, etc. But make no mistake, this is a ROCK SOLID album and well worth the price.

3 out of 5 stars defying description.......2006-01-23

Peter Green, fresh from his late-1960's endeavors with Fleetwood Mac, offered up his first solo album in 1970, something akin to George Harrison's 'Wonderwall' or Neil Young's 'Arc', a thirty-five minute series of instrumental works ranging in length from under two and one-half minutes (the aptly named 'Timeless Time') to the lengthy opener, the nine-minute workout on the wah-pedal titled 'Bottoms Up'. While the production and writing credits are all assigned to Green, each track was culled from a single six-hour improvisational session featuring Green and four other musicians.

This disc comes as sparsely packaged as just about any you will see. The German import lists only one date, 1979, although the disc was originally released on vinyl in 1970. Three times the track listings are offered, but nowhere are the running times provided. The musicians and their instruments are identified. Other than that there are two photographs of a cheetah and a bar code. That's it. What's more, the song titles offer basically no insight into the texture of the compositions, which is fitting since they pretty much defy description. You will notice that fully one-half of the front insert is completely blank, so I guess we can claim that lyrics are included!

Perhaps the most instructive insight into the disc can be gained by investigating the backgrounds of the relatively unknown, but not unaccomplished musicians Green is performing with. All possess fairly lengthy resumes, with most of their touchstones on the radical cusp of recorded music. Bassist Alex Dmochowski, for instance, performed on several of Frank Zappa's studio discs from the early 1970's, and also recorded a disc with Anysley Dunbar. Keyboardist Zoot Money had stints with Spencer Davis, Alex Korner, Andy Summers, and even Eric Burdon's New Animals. Nick Buck on organ was a member of Hot Tuna, and drummer Godfrey MacLean was a member of Brian Auger's Oblivion Express, and recorded with Lou Reed. Out of this group one could certainly expect an eclectic mix of jazz, blues, rock, as well as the experimental rhythms and moods they create.

The most conventional of the six tracks is the funky, pulsing opener, 'Bottoms Up', which also features Green's most impressive guitar lines. The wah-pedal, which Green indulges in throughout the disc, lends a psychedelic impression over all the other musical textures the band explores. 'Timeless Time' follows, a slow, whispy, and brief interlude, marking time between the conventional and unconventional, which breaks loose on track three. 'Descending Scale' is another lengthy track, running about eight minutes, the first six of which are perhaps the most unstructured in the set. With each instrument seemingly pursuing its own course, it is surprising the finished product sounds as coherant and cohesive as it does. The last two minutes of the track, however, follow the rhythm section to a more standard conclusion. The last three tracks run about five, four, and six minutes respectively. 'Burnt Foot' features a nice drum solo, and a sweet rock jam with pulsing bass lines. 'Hidden Depth' is another many-textured track, including one soft, flowing segment. The title track closes out the disc, sounding like an aural summary paragraph for the disc, experienced as a cosmic journey.

Recordings such as 'End of the Game' obviously are not going to elicit widespread popular interest. The fact that Warner Brothers chose to release the disc speaks partly to the musical sensibilities of the time, which was a fertile ground for experimental exploits of this sort. It also speaks to the accomplished status Peter Green had achieved as the prime componant in one of the seminal blues-rock bands of the era, especially from a European perspective. No surprise therefore, that 'End of the Game' exists only as an imported product. If you're a fan of the 1960's work of Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac, or if you just enjoy experimental music, this disc qualifies as essential listening. However, I would doubt that people outside of those categories would have much use for what Peter Green and company are doling out here.

3 out of 5 stars A different View of Peter Green.......2005-10-04

I have been a long time fan of the man, I know that he has a following. I might say that this session is okay, but the mix is a bit heavey on the bass and drums, seems like the producer had a big hand here. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A SOUNDTRACK! which I think it is , so the motive of the songs are different. This is best for fans who want to complete ther collections. If you want another choice check out any of the other anthologies, or better yet get the BOX set, which includes the MAN and his griends at the TOP of THIER GAME!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliance by a Master at his Peak - Awesome........2004-09-24

This has got to rate as the single best theme album of all time. An instrumental disc by the famous Peter Green, founder of Fleetwood Mac, it charts a day in the life of a jungle cat. Jazz rythms, percussion and wah-wah guitar elicit a true feeling of the joy of being a big cat, running through the jungle, chasing prey, contemplating your reflection in a still pool, preparing for sleep, and finally, achingly, being killed by a hunter.

This is my single favourite album of all time.

5 out of 5 stars Welcome to Tha Hall Of Game! (4 and 1/2 stars).......2007-07-20

Most people say that E-40 never topped In A Major Way but I beg to differ. He not only topped it with this album, he made it a distant memory. I loved In A Major Way but lets be real. How many of you remember it after hearing this album? Exactly. The album starts off with Record Haters where E-40 disses the pants off Rasheed Wallace and AZ. I like Az but he was out of line dissing 40 water and how is Rasheed Wallace dissing anybody? Anybody who heard him rap before knows that he shouldnt be within 3 point distance of a microphone(Im talking Shaquille O Neal wack). Rappers Ball with Too Short and K-Ci is a classic joint. 2pac(RIP) and B-Legit join E-40 on the spectacular Million Dollar Spot. Ring It featuring Spice 1 and Keek Da Sneak is another classic joint and why this song was never an anthem out here still bothers me. E-40 also has you covered on the positive tip with The Story and Things'll Never Change(which beautifully samples Bruce Hornsby's The Way It Is). Some people think I Wanna Thank You with Suga T is corny but is still a highlight track in my opinion. Circumstances is another bangin track that features The Luniz, T-Pup, Celly Cel and Kokane. The only tracks I couldnt feel is My Drinking Club, Keep Pimpin and Growing Up(he could have left the kid who was rapping offbeat of that track you know). The rest of the album is still noteworthy. Bottom Line: E-40's Tha Hall Of Game is his best work and is definetely a highlight album of 1996. This album came out at a time when you can expect most album that come out to be good. Boy do I miss those days. Anyway E-40 put a lot effort into this album and it paid off. Standout tracks: RECORD HATERS, RAPPERS BALL, MILLION DOLLAR SPOT, THE STORY, RING IT, I LIKE WHAT YOU DO TO ME, THINGS'LL NEVER CHANGE, CIRCUMSTANCES and SMEBBIN.

5 out of 5 stars OH MAN. E-40 IS TOO GOOD.......2006-04-29

I BOUGHT THIS WHEN IT CAME OUT. WHEN I FIRST HEARD "IN A MAJOR WAY" I DAMN NEAR HAD A STROKE. I FOUND THAT HE HAD VOICE AND A STYLE THAT I HAD NEVER HEARD BEFORE. I MEAN I HEARD A SAMPLE OF HIS STUFF, AND I NEVER PAID ATTENTION. BUT MY FRIEND SAID, LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM, YOU'LL LOVE HIM. AND LOVE THIS I DID. THE ALBUM "HALL OF GAME" IS MY PERSONAL FAVORITE THOUGH. I HAVE ALL OF HIS ALBUMS.
HALL OF GAME IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE RAP ALBUMS, AND HAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE RAP TRACKS EVER, "SMEBBIN". I MEAN I LOVE HOW HE TWISTS HIS WORDS, AND CREATED HIS OWN STYLE, AND LANGUAGE, AND MADE THIS...THE HALL OF GAME, THE BEST ALBUM OF HIS CAREER.
I MEAN, LOOK AT AND LISTEN TO THESE TRACKS...
1. Record Haters
2. Rappers' Ball
3. Growing Up
4. Million Dollar Spot
5. Mack Minister
6. I Wanna Thank U
7. The Story

5 out of 5 stars hall of game = west coast hall of fame!.......2005-03-27

e-40's the man. a weird man but still the man. nobody will give this guy a chance to see what skills 40 really posesses. in no way is he commercial, far from it with his goofy voice, rapid fire flow, and his own personal slang. but that's the beauty of it - he's not like every other rapper! straight from vallejo, ca (adjacent to oakland), 40 brings us "the hall of game". this album shows e-40's fun side and also his more introspective side, making this his best album to date. if you want party songs check out "drinking club" which production wise sounds like 2 yrs ahead of its time. "ring me" has a hot beat with 40's fire flow and is very danceable and club friendly. "rapper's ball" the lead single features the great k-ci and too short and is fun. if you want hood songs check out "million dollar spot" with the great late 2pac, song 3 (i forget the name) which has a driveby skit, and "smebbin" with its song about hoes. then, e-40 takes a 180 and raps about introspection. "the story" is a classic followed by "circumstances" with the chorus saying that you should watch the things you get into and the company you keep, "it is what it is" is a perfectly narrated eerie story of how the law catches up to you in time, and the last song being "things never change" which looks back on 40's hard life. this dude can rap and is so different than your average rapper that you gotta give him a try. you will be impressed! he is straight pimpin here and he puts together some classics here. 40 fonzarelli baby!

5 out of 5 stars Back In The Day.......2003-09-15

Back in the day you got classic after classic. This is just one of them. Still though E-40's new music is great but not this great if you know what I mean. This is laid back westcoast music at some of it's best. Bay-Area has many talented artirst and if you're into west coast rap E-40 is one of the most important to get. I'll admit this ain't 40's best, but it's far from his worst and it does deserves five stars even though it's more like 4.5.
Definitely check this out if you're interested in some west coast talent.
Also check out music by Too Short, South Central Cartel, Havoc & Prodeje, B-Legit, Richie Rich, The Click, Celly Cel.. oh my God so many talents that never get the props they deserve. I think it's time now! Get this for your collection.

2 out of 5 stars where is the rest of it?.......2007-03-25

I love the game San Andreas and the music thats in it. Unfortunately the soundtrack is missing way too many good songs from the game. I can list about 10 of them from the top of my head. If you want this soundtrack as a collectors item then cool, get it. If this is something your actually going to listen to because you enjoy the music on the game then I can NOT recomend this soundtrack due to the fact that its missing a lot of songs, and in this case some of the better songs.

5 out of 5 stars Curious about a song..........2005-11-13

A friend of mine was recently playing some gta:sa and I was really enjoying the soundtrack. At one point he got into a euro sports car and it was on some techno-ish station that had a DJ with a german accent. The first song that came up was this techno/bass driven song that I know I've heard before but I can't quite seem to remember who it's by... Just wondering if anyone could help me out, I'm dying to know.

4 out of 5 stars Solid Overall package.......2005-07-23

This 2 CD/1 DVD set has a lot going for it. If you've played the game and/or like the era of early 90's music, then this is a solid buy for you. This features much of the music popular at the time, including hard-hitting rap (2Pac, Cypress Hill) and rock acts (Rage Against the Machine, Faith No More). But the soundtrack also ranges across the dial to include reggae and funk classics like Rick James "Cold Blooded" and James Brown's "The Payback," '70s rock, such as Eddie Money "Two Tickets to Paradise"; old-school hip-hop (Eric B. & Rakim's "I Know You Got Soul"). There were a few out of place numbers which include Ohio Players "Funky Worm" and Willie Nelson's "Crazy". But they don't devalue the overall package. I am most likely going to get the 8 cd box set which has a lot more solid tracks on it. This also includes a DVD that provides an introduction to the game.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Compilation.......2006-06-19

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is well-known for its soundtrack. You don't even have to play the game (which by the way, is an incredible experience) to enjoy the music from it. Like other reviewers, I believe this is the best compilation from any of the radio stations.
I was surprised at the amount of music on this collection that I did not recognize when I first heard it. Several artists like Rick James and Kool & The Gang had bigger hits, but they used less known songs instead. I had never heard of Oliver Cheetham or Fat Larry's Band before this collection, and now I own albums by both. Not one song from this station is bad or even mediocre.
Recommended for those that haven't played Vice City. Highly recommended for Vice City veterans, who will definitely enjoy the commercials and DJ tracks.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT CONCEPT!.......2006-01-15

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS CD! What a great idea to have a soundtrack compiliation for a video game! Vol. 6 - Fever 105 is my favorite CD out of the 7 CD's for Vice City. The DJ and radio commercials are hillarious! The song selection is excellent. The majority of the songs I already knew because I grew up on them. The only song that wasn't familiar to me was track 8. Get Down Saturday Night - Oliver Cheatham. Now, that is my favorite song on the CD. I also like track 4. Act Like You Know - Fat Larry's Band because it reminds me of one of the Vice City tv commercials that used the song.

If you are a fan of old school 80's R&B like me, I suggest that you pick up this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Vicy city the wonder CD.......2005-07-09

Is it me or is this the one of the best CD ever made! my fave song is Automatic! and i also love the game this CD is from. Whoever hates this CD should go to hell because it's the best!.I also like the picture on the front of the CD its very artistic and creative. The songs on the CD are old but you'v gotta love'em!.

So in conclusion if i was you i would be dying to get this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Yuppie and the Alien.......2004-10-26

Richard L. Kruger's masterful performance on the last track, "Yuppie and the Alien" is not to be missed. Mr. Kruger also appeared in Vice City itself in the "Four Iron" mission where he once again proves his acting prowess. His unfortunate demise the game is ironic to say the least because his performance throughout Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will live on in the hearts and minds of GTA fans everywhere...

4 out of 5 stars Tight No Limit LP.......2005-09-08

This a good album from the sons of funk, they are very underatted, I'm mad they didn't come out with another album, i think P didn't promote it enuff, They would have sold so many records, with the right push , they are great r&b producers as well, I would have them do my album if i was a singer. Songs like Pushin Inside of U are classics, but you never hear of it, everybody i let hear it be asking who these nig**as they hot, gurls be loving it, the rest of the songs are tight as well, they singing skills are average but they creativity and production is what stands out, At first I didn't want to buy iy cuz the cover looked kinda stupid, then i heard some snippets and i fell in love with it, its one of my tightest cd's i have. But don't judge it by the cover because thats decieving, i have been skeptical since 1998 to buy it, I just bought it last year 2004, its hot y'all so pick it up

4 out of 5 stars Only for no limit fans.......2003-08-24

NO LIMIT swamped 1998 with rappers and bands putting out 1 LP and then leaving the label.
this is not bad and i believe THEIR IS A SINGLE WHICH I CANNOT FIND ANYWHERE.

5 out of 5 stars Thugs need love too!.......2003-06-04

how ya do dat dere? tight album, incl. "Make Love 2 A Thug" (a really crunk club track feat. Master P), "Pushin' Inside Of You" (perfect track to make love to), "I Got The Hook-Up w/o Master P" (cold chills to dis one!), "Y'All I Want" (kinda latin touch to it, smooth), "Makin Luv 2 My B****" (great thug girl song), and "Time Will Tell" (ghetto type of ballad, really depressive & sad, feat. Master P)

5 out of 5 stars Excellent R&B cd.......2000-12-30

Ok forget everything I said in my last review of this cd. This is one of the best R&B cds ever! The only problem with it is that it's too short. All the songs are tight, but the ones I like the most are Makin Luv To My B..., Y'all I Want, Side To Side, Hey Lady, Pushin Inside You, You And Me, The First Time, and Don't Wanna Let You Go. This cd is great, a must-have for R&B fans, so check it out today!

4 out of 5 stars Bomb cd!.......2000-06-13

Ok I listened to this more thoroughly and I decided that it deserves 4 stars. The songs are very sexy and romantic and it's a great cd for any smooth R&B fan! I gave this 4 stars only because the song Make Luv To A Thug is weak and also there aren't enough songs. Whenever I listen to this, it reminds me of the girl I love. Kelly, I don't know if you love me or not, but if you ever, for some reason, happen to stumble upon this review and read it, I just want you to know that I love you with all my heart and you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my entire life. I don't know if you feel the same way, but I hope you do.

4 out of 5 stars Tight Collective of Ruthless' Discog.......2007-07-05

1998, Ruthless Records releases a comp of older fav's from its artists. The songs are tight, many are bonafied classics, but the selection is a bit lacking in my opinion. We Get MC Ren classics from 1993's Shock Of The Hour like "F--k What Ya Heard," a couple of H.W.A. joints from their 1994 album Az Much A-- Az U Want like "Great Tazte Less Fillaz," a real horny song with a dope G-Funk beat. You get JJ Fad's pump-u-up joint from the late 80's "Supersonic." You also get a couple N.W.A. joints of course, and definitely a few Eazy-E cuts. You also get 2 "new" Eazy-E cuts (old Eazy spits over 1998 tailored beats). "Black N---a Killa" and "24 Hrs. To Live," which are alright, nothing special. Michel'le and the D.O.C. are also represented here, as is Above The Law. ATL's cuts that made it here are "Murder Rap" from 1990's Livin' Like Hustlers, and their classic 1994 "Black Superman" from Uncle Sam's Curse, a great cut for this comp considering few can afford U.S.C. cuz it's rare and expensive. Now, I wish a couple of Steffon's tracks could have been represented like "Funk Like Me," a slick G-Funk classic or "Frost Bit." Those 2 joints coulda made a 5 star collective. But still, a nice reflection, or intro for some, to Ruthless Records extensive catalog. R.I.P. Eazy.

5 out of 5 stars RUTHLESS MOST DOPEST HITS.......2005-12-23

This album has all the big hits back from N.W.A first started till around when Eazy-E died. All the songs are decent to listen to with some of them I never heard before because the cd's their on you can't buy anymore. The main reason I bought this is to show my respect of Eazy-E since he is my favorite rapper and used to be the illest in the game. This also includes 2 of his unreleased songs, "24 Hours To Live", and "Black Nigga Killa". They both ended up becoming singles off this album to prove how good they were and how sick of a voice Eazy had back in the day. If I were you, I would scoop this up before it goes out of print since Ruthless Records is getting buried in the dirt as the days go on, ruthlesss is famous for artists such as Eazy-e, N.W.A., Above the Law, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and etc. this is a way for ruthless to show of the talents in there artists.

It's Ruthless-4-Life on this one, so much luv to the B.G.K.O.-CPT, much luv to the D.R.E.-O.B.G. and much luv to the E-A-Z-Y-E-CPT!

5 out of 5 stars Ruthless 4 Life.......2005-10-24

All i gotta say is buy this CD, 2 discs are awesome with Black N*gga Killa the OG version is absolutely off the hook. Very rare.

It has great songs on each disk featuring songs from ATL, MC Ren, Blood Of Abraham, The DOC manyothers and ofcourse the one and only Hip Hop Thugsta Eazy E, I rate 90% of the songs 10/10 and the other 10% 8/10 which is pretty good, overall the CD is worth definate 5 star rating and worth every cent you spend on it. Get it before it goes out of print.
