5 out of 5 stars Some G-Funk Flow, Man!.......2006-01-07

Yo, Man! Squek Ru & Binky Mack str8 from the ING drop a phat album, no doubt. Mack 10 aka Mack Dime produced it, so it is always gonna be influenced by him, which in case of this album is to the best effect. And yes, it is better than Westside Connection! This is ganstarap at its truely best. Ofcourse, the I is for Inglewood, which we are constantly reminded of throughout. Allfrumtha I have something really hot going on here and I could not recommend this album no less - it is impressive throughout. Whereas the Westside Connection CD is not made up entirely of hits like of the I's. Hoo-Ride 'N featuring The Comrads is a tight groove which defiently has some Bloods & Crips on this track, County Jail featuring Ice Cube & Mack 10 is another tight G-funk groove about life in the county jails all across California from Los Angeles to San Bernardino to Oakland and to Sacremento, Get Yo Bang On featuring Mack 10 is a G-funk classic thats Indo blowin' and was also a dope hit off of the Gang Related Soundtrack and Dopest on the Planet featuring Ice Cube, Mack 10 & WC aka Westside Connection, is another hard Bangin' song that features the WSCG's.

AllFrumTha I blaze up some Chronic on songs 1, *2(featuring The Comrads), 3, *5(featuring Ice Cube & Mack 10), *6(featuring Mack 10), 7, 8, 10, 11(featuring Mack 10 & WC), *12(featuring WSC) & 14(featuring WSC).

5 out of 5 stars Slammin!!!!.......2005-04-05

AllFrumTha i's self titled debut is nothing short of slammin. It is a typical Westside Connection-type album with production be Mack 10 and cameos by the WSCG bunch (10, Ice Cube, WC, Comrads.....) but it outshines most of the others' work because the beats are strong. The album is hard core G-Funk. "County Jail" is tight; they tell a chilling tale of going to jail among enemies over a sample of Roger and Zapp's "So Ruff, So Tuff" you can lowride to. "Caps" is a hard core song with a tight beat. Too bad there weren't more songs on this 14 track album (4 of them being inserts). This album is one of the best late 90's rap albums out there.

Allfrumtha I have something really hot going on here and I could not recommend this album no less - it is impressive throughout. Whereas the Westside Connection CD is not made up entirely of hits, this is (well, almost). The highlights are "Fill My Cup", which features a phat chorus; then, Allfrumtha I teams up with Mack 10 on "Get Yo Bang On" to produce a classic gangsta track, before "Caps" take you by storm, which personally, is my favorite; and "Guess Who" is sure to make a few people praise themselves for buying this fab album. The remaining songs are all oustanding aswell, amongst which "Unthinkable" and "Dopest On Tha Planet" (featuring Mack 10 and Ice Cube) are classic.

4 out of 5 stars WORD UP!.......1998-06-12

This cd is DA BOMB! Much better than Westside Connection's CD. Best gangsta cd I've heard in a while... and gansta rap doesn't usually impress me.

3 out of 5 stars Allfrumtha I: the next OutKast?.......2005-05-17

Back for the third time, rhyming duo Binky Mac and Squeak Ru are ready for the big time. With their latest accomplishment Larger Than Life, they attempt to become the next OutKast with their audacious and experimental instrumentation. However, this newfound bravery can prove to be either an immense success or a complete failure.

Aft I's introduction is that of any Eminem album, declaratory yet humorous. Their first song "Runnin' This" shows their courage not only with bold lyrics, but also with an electrically charged background, and then the album proceeds to the club-ready hit "Lil' Momma." "Can't Get Enuff" revives their static vibe and adds an ingenious funk to create one gritty tune. Aft I take over the world soon after in their victorious "Hero;" "Why They Wanna Keep Me Down" appends Latin to Aft I's list of genres to cover, giving listeners another song to duly praise. Also, their lyrical content is admirable, as they stray from the common vulgarities found in mainstream hip hop and aim for cleaner, more inspirational tunes.

In contrast, Aft I sometimes prove too audacious in their experimentation. For example, in their song "Larger Than Life," they try too hard to add diversity while overlooking one serious flaw: the wholly flat bass line, which distracts listeners from an otherwise decent song. "Pump Ya Fist" though upright on its own, is merely average after hearing its predecessors, and "Cognac"'s smooth groove is unfortunately countered by its undeniable simplicity. "Dangerous" while somewhat imaginative is overly synthesized and could use a dramatic violin accompaniment - something to contrast the backbeat better than that worn-out synthesizer. "Iz U Wit It" furthers this same downfall of Aft I and by the time one makes it to "12 Bars," it seems the duo has fizzled out.

Overall, while Allfrumtha I may have succeeded in creating one truly "Larger Than Life" album, at times, their excitement to create a whole new world leads them to see their songs as a whole, rather than focusing on important details that could make their songs sound so much more proficient. In the end though, Binky Mac and Squeak Ru finally generated an album that will truly leave a mark on listeners and hopefully earn them the recognition they've been working so hard to attain.
