I didn't expect this album to be this good.......2004-05-25

Although I really liked the singles "My Love Is The Shh!" and "All I Do," I never thought about getting this album. I finally listened to the whole album and really enjoyed it, so I plan on buying it soon.

only hit: My love is the Sh..........2004-02-07

Unfortunately "My love is the Sh..." is the only outstanding song for SFP. The rest is in the same style - even the earlier stuff - but not with as much hit potential. This album containing their hit is a bit better than the previous ones due to their guestsingers like Trina &Tamara.

It's cool but there's a catch..............2002-01-09

"My love is the Shhhh" was kinda hott so I felt inspired to pick up this CD. OK, here's the catch: no other tracks on the album are like that track. So if you are like me (heard it on the radio so much that you ended up falling for that song and wanting more) you'll be disappointed. BUT in all fairness, if you are able to disregard that factor, it's a cool album! My favorites are "My love is the Shhhhh", "Days like this", "Take it or Leave it", and "Act like you want it".

This Time...it's Micheal!.......2002-10-03

Where do I start? Okay all you Michael Ball fans out there. If you do not have this album, I have two words for you: BUY IT! This is simply his best album. I have several of Michael's previous records, but this one is his finest work yet. From "Walking in Memphis",to "If tomorrow never comes", his voice hits every note, every word with the most pure, clear, beautiful voice.This one is a must have for all the micahel fans (but I'm sure you knew that already right?)

When I was browsing at the Music Store, lookin for an artist that i dont like and i am very specific one when it comes to a great music that i never heard before. So I picked up Michael Ball Symphony royal hall Concert. and I listen to it. I was very impress about him. So i started to ask my friends that are music lover just like me. They never heard him before. So I let them listen to it and they said, Michael has a soothing and powerful voice. Michael Ball is going to be One of the wonderful voice in the whole world with Linda Elder, Michael Crawford.

This Time It's Different - - But It's Ball at his Best.......2002-03-27

Too few singers take chances with their music; preferring to stick with what works. They try to reinforce what they do best, while throwing out an occasional track that deviates from their norm, merely to placate critics.

This CD again demonstrates the versatility of Michael Ball in a performance that combines subtlety and power with orchestration and interpretations that only a first-class vocalist can deliver.

I have the added benefit of having watched the videotaped performance of Michael performing these songs; the intensity of Ball's performance so clearly seen in the video, translates equally well into the music on the CD. Seldom does a vocalist make the transition from the power of Broadway's showtunes to the streets of American country music as smoothly, stylishly and emotionally as Michael Ball. His romantic rendition of the classic, "The First Time Ever I Saw Her Face" is one of the few I've heard that can stand up to Roberta Flack's soulful masterpiece. And Michael's showmanship and joy of performing is clearly in evidence in a truly rousing delivery of "Walking in Memphis."

Singers often evolve into vocalists, with their style and interpretive ability leading the way. The truly great vocalists explore beyond their strengths; expanding their musical horizons and their talents to encompass music they enjoy, offering their version of classics and new material, leading the listener into a new world of performance, trusting in the talent of the artist. Few - if any - of today's musical talents can equal Michael Ball's combination of talent, vocal power, musical styling and stage presence. "This Time It's Personal" - in both CD and video - proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt. Michael may have ventured into new ground with this album, and while I'll never get enough of his work with Broadway scores, I'll eagerly await his next venture into the next chapter of his "personal" musical evolution.

Golden Voice in New Tunes.......2002-02-05

If you think Michael Ball is only good at showcasing big musical numbers and belting out high notes, you should listen to this album. The same Michael Ball will give you different feelings and you probably will re-look some of the songs that you've already known for a long time. I have to say that Michael's singing is mesmerizing. His exquisite vocal delivery and empathy with the songs contributed the best to the artistic appealing of this album.

For the first time Michael tried his voice in American country tunes, and it is surprisingly good. Songs like "If Tomorrow Never Comes", "The Dimming of the Day", and "The Dance" simply couldn't get better. "You Bring the Best Out of Me", which is a song specifically written for Michael by Paul Carrack, is a song about the singer himself. The words are very sincere and Michael sings it with such emotions and true feelings. Michael co-authored two songs in the album. They cannot be more different in their styles. "Just When" is a touching romantic love song, flowing smoothly. "Never Coming Back", with its story-telling approach and deep punchy rhythm, expresses the feelings of struggling and desperation. A little surprise comes from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "No Matter What", for which Boyzone already set the standard with their version. There is no doubt that Michael gave this song his unique charm by adding his personal touch in it.

This is an album that is well produced and packaged. The orchestration, the sound mixing, and the recording are superb. You won't regret for every penny you spend. Please do yourself a favor after a whole day's of work: light the candles, get a glass of wine, and enjoy the wonderfulness Michael brings to you.

Quite possibly...........2001-11-18

...the worst album I have ever heard in my entire life.

I was a great fan of Michael Ball's when his career was focused on the musical stage, but his move (and subsequent albums) to the pop arena left me cold. As well as being a fan of musical theater, I also adore country music. So, when I found out that Michael Ball had made a "country" album, my curiosity was piqued.

First of all, this is not country music. These are covers of songs originally recorded by country artists. This CD would not be considered country in Nashville, Minneapolis, Branson or even Vegas. The last, however, seems the most likely home for this CD. Gone is the simple and clear emotional renderings of the original artists. Instead, the sorry souls listening are subjected to over-orchestrated arrangements created, to my best guess, to hide the fact that Mr. Ball's once incredible range has all but disappeared and years of smoking and vocal misuse have wreaked havoc on his vocal chords.

This is how i see it, Fury of Five makes me want to hurt a lot of people. I think that this is BY FAR one of the hardest cd's i have ever heard. I put them in the Hatebreed, Madball catagory. I'm sure glad that aren't on tour anymore cause many people would go home crying or to the hospital.

One question. What were they thinking?.......2001-06-27

I used to listen to Fury when they had just demos out. They then went on to record a horrible "No Reason to Smile". To be followed up by an even worse "At War with the World". Now they deliver "This Time it's Personal". This has got to be THE most rediculous "tough guy hardcore" album ever!!! Even if you like listening to big mean guys talking about beating up people you still won't like this. I may be a little one sided but this CD is pure garbage. But if you want to get it for laugh value be my guest. I laughed so hard while listening to "Suckers Wish" that I had to pull over in my car. James (the singer) not only tries to actually sing but he does these hilarious attempts at screaming. He ends up sounding like Elmo on crack. The music is typical and nothing stands out at all. If you like music that's so bad that it's enjoyable buy this cd. If you're actually looking for a heavy cd you'll be highly disappointed.

I Just Got This To Day And It Has To B One Of The Best Hardcore Albums I've Ever Heard. But One Thing They Solo They Need To Leave That To 80's Hair Band's And Just Play Strait Hc. So I Only Give It 4 Star's.

Two Steps in the Right Direction.......2001-08-04

Scratching Post is easily one of the most underrated and unrecognized bands in rock today. I find it truly surprising that their brand of pop-metal hasn't caught on. Back in 1997 they broke into the college rock scene with their strong, but fairly green `Flamethrower.' A year later they spawned a huge hit with a metal makeover of an older song `Bloodflame' which was on their 8 track EP `Destruction of the Universe.' The EP sold like mad considering Scratching Post was an independent Canadian band. `This Time It's Personal' is this Toronto based band's fourth album and it definitely delineates a more mature, dingy and menacing tone than their previous outings. While the album may not be as menacing as Scratching Post was hoping it would be, largely due to Nicole's halfway sugar-sweet lollipop vocals, this is without question their strongest and most accessible body of work as of yet.

Produced by Peters and Peters, 'This Time It's Personal' melds the usual Garbage-esque electronic beeps and boops effectively. The new sound is not an onslaught of `computer farts,' but rather a resonance that manages to deviate from the norm enough to keep fans and newbies interested.

Lyrically 'This Time It's Personal' is some of Nicole Hughes (guitar, vocal) most convincing work as of recent. The majority of the songs are torrid, somewhat twisted love songs like the blistering lead off track 'Fade Away' which is a scathing break-up anthem with an exceptionally jolting chorus.

Thankfully, Nicole Hughes vocals have improved dramatically since their prior albums. Her voice no longer screeches through each chorus with valley-girl shrill but rather on `This Time It's Personal' ranges from seductive cooing to bearable and somewhat unexpected screaming. Though Nicole's voice remains far too cute of a noise to fit them comfortably in the metal category.

`This Time It's Personal' is a great album for any rock or metal fan. My lone complaint is that it could have been a bit longer. There are essentially only 9 tracks because `Militiagan' is merely an interlude and the disc has a short run time of around 25 minutes. Though these 25 minutes will be 25 minutes that you will want to play over again and again.

One of the Best.......2000-12-04

This album contains some of Scratching Post's best work. The band members are well versed in their respective instruments. The lead singer Nicole has an excellent voice and actually knows how to sing properly (not just scream the words). The music is loud but not loud enough to drown out Nicole's voice, you can understand the words she is singing. I have all their albums and this is their best one yet. This band is one of the best metal bands I've ever heard. Rock on!

Perhaps because the instrument I play is in my home and not in a church or concert hall, I have found performing on the von Beckerath to be an intensely personal experience in many ways. This is, after all, an instrument I designed, in a room I designed, and when I perform, it is almost always for friends. So it might not be surprising that I have developed very personal associations with many of the organ works in my repertoire; this recording seemed to be a good chance to explore some of those associations. Stephen J. Ketterer started playing the piano at age 4, switched to the organ 10 years later, and has been actively performing ever since. Although it has been 15 years since he held a church position, he maintains an enthusiastic concert schedule, and happily donates his musical services for good causes in northwest Connecticut. Extra-musically, the artist works as president of HIV Research, a worldwide pharmaceutical market research and consulting firm.
