From Amazon.ca

Finger Eleven's career shifted suddenly and significantly when their 2003 emo-hit "One Thing" turned the band's career on its axis. At that point, they went from being known as 'the boys from Burlington who used to call themselves the Rainbow Butt Monkeys' to a group whose anthemic slow rock song went Platinum in Canada and Gold in America. So how does a band respond after its widespread fame is the result of just one song? In the case of Them Vs. You Vs. Me, Finger Eleven have consciously stayed away from anything remotely resembling their past and put the focus on the straight-ahead alt-rock formula that they've consistently excelled at. There are certain old-school rock influences that bleed clearly through their music, from Rush-isms in the form of frenetic time changes ("Sense of a Spark") to "Talking to the Walls" and "Lost My Way" which evoke Peter Gabriel-era Genesis. Frontman Scott Anderson's voice is impressive throughout, but when he sings ballads, especially "Window Song" and "Easy Life," something enables him to appeal to a whole different audience than traditional alt-rock fans. There is no 'one thing' on this disc that will allow them to reach the heights of their self-titled CD, just a consistency that will provide longtime fans reason to appreciate the band even more. --Denise Sheppard

4 out of 5 stars Better Than Expected!.......2007-07-13

After seeing lukewarm reviews, I went into this with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised! The songs were not all "One Thing" imitations, but rather the band has gone in a different directly with their music. Two of the songs even have a slight 'twang' to them, and while I despise country music, the 'twang' works well on this CD.
Ironically, Amazon has paired this with Chevelle's latest, and those two CD's are currently my top two.

5 out of 5 stars notice a pattern here?.......2007-07-09

notice how everyone who says this is my first time hearing F11 i love it and they give it 5 stars? yea..cuz its a good album..all you 1 star guys own greyest of blue skies and your wanting a repeat...well f11 dosent do that... thats like watching and loving super troupers then renting their 1st release called puddle cruisers and hating it because you wanted another super troupers out of it....but would you have liked the movie if youd never seen super troupers?..most likely....NEVER judge someone on their other works. and you won't ruin the music for yourself.... if them vs you vs me was released my ohh say...some band called cheetah lol and you heard paralyzer...youd prob like the album...

5 out of 5 stars What a great new concept album!.......2007-07-08

I'm a new fan and picked this one up the day it came out because of Paralyzer. I listened for a couple weeks and liked it a lot, then I put it away so I didn't get burned out on it.

I listened again today driving from Philly to DC and really paid attention. Aside from the myriad classic rock influences that can be heard and the solid musicianship, this disc is quite the concept album. Best one I've heard in a long time and I'm very, very rarely impressed by new musical offerings. I understand that this may not be the same sound as their previous offerings but I really don't care. This is good music.

5 stars!

2 out of 5 stars No more paralyzers?.......2007-07-08

I love Paralyzer.. it has a harder sound to it which I was hoping to hear on the rest of the album. Unfortunately, I only liked the first track and found the rest to be a bit of a disappointment. Seems like "Paralyzer" should have been done by Disturbed. The only reason I gave the album a 2 was because it has one song I can't get enough of. Otherwise, it's a zero. Generic and poor lyrics = radio friendly. Not what I'm looking for.

5 out of 5 stars It's Awesome.......2007-06-02

I got into Finger Eleven for their track 'One Thing'. That was a really good song, excellently composed but it did not make a serious fan out of me. That is until the new album 'Them-Vs-You-Vs-Me'.

I find Soctt Andersons vocals consistent throughout the entire album. Yes it is more alternative rock but don't be put off by being classified as a label when it comes to what you listen to. This is a very enjoyable cd.
The tracks, Paraylzed, Falling On, and Taking To The Walls are outstanding in terms of more of the rocking type tracks.

However, this is only a treat before we get some real amazing vocals on some of the more acoustic type tracks.
Real bonus to the CD are the following:

* I'll Keep Your Memory Vague. 5/5
"This won't break your heart, But I just think it could, coz I haven't tried as hard as I should..to..to seperate you from everything I do...but I would never wanna come between us 2" - This entire line is the best vocal I've heard this year for an intro.

* Window Song 5/5
"All The Windows are playing their game...we won't see outisde again...til I ride all the fog away...I'm putting words in their place...but all of the fog is erased & I write all the words I never said"

* Talking To The Walls
-Excellent Intro & again great lyrics. i.e. "Look at the shape I'm in, talking to the walls again'

They have staying power, for the people that have mocked this album, it's been unfair, bands need to evolve.

I would definitely like to extend my gratitude of thanks to Finger Eleven, they put out an album I can really relate to.

Come tour in Auckland, NZ some time.

Buckcherry reestablish their status as one of the most raucous and delightfully dirty-minded acts in the industry today with 15, a truly bombastic rock & roll blast. Vocalist Josh Todd leads this high-energy act into battle with the colossal one-two-three punch of "So Far," "Next 2 You," and "Out Of Line," each anchored by the weighty rhythm section of drummer Xavier Muriel and bassist Jimmy Ashhurst, then elevated by the Olympian guitar attack of Keith Nelson and Stevie D. But while an appropriate levity prevails on those tracks and others--such as "Crazy Bitch," "Broken Glass," and the good time stomp "Brooklyn"--the band also find time to show a more sensitive and mature side with the hit-worthy and country-inflected "Carousel," plus the unapologetically melancholy "Sorry." If there's a fault to be found on 15 it doesn't reveal itself easily, and if there's a fault to be found with Buckcherry it is perhaps that they imbue listeners with a zest for living. But that clearly is no crime. --Jedd Beaudoin

Album Description

The band who broke onto the national scene in 1999 returns. "I am playing the hell out of it. It combines all the best elements of Aerosmith and Guns N Roses in their prime" - Eddie Trunk (Q104 NYC syndicated radio host and VH1 Classic on-air personality). "Coming on like the Black Crowes by way of AC/DC, this LA-based band is at its best blasting its way through hard-hitting riff rockers" - Entertainment Weekly.

The idea of remaking the Rat Pack's infamous shaggy-dog story cum Vegas heist thriller may have seemed ludicrous without a Rat Pack. But that didn't deter ever-inventive director Steven Soderbergh, who's again wisely teamed with not only Out of Sight star George Clooney, but that underrated project's Irish-born club mixer turned scorer David Holmes, as well. The resulting soundtrack is a spunky, cross-cultural joyride that careens from Perry Como's "Papa Loves Mambo" to the loopy hip-hop of Handsome Boy Modeling School's "The Projects," while paying some gratifying visits to Percy Faith, Arthur Lyman, Quincy Jones, the terminally cool Claude Debussy, and, of course, King Elvis along the way. Holmes's own concoctions are as smartly retro-hip and seamless, slyly intertwining cool jazz-funk and smoky cine-Muzak with some dance-floor grooves that keep the musical tension boiling. The sharp dialogue snippets that bubble throughout seem a quirky throwback to soundtracks gone by, a sometimes oversized olive in Holmes's inviting musical cocktail. --Jerry McCulley

3 out of 5 stars If you really want the music...........2007-07-04

DAVID HOLMES made a name with this soundtrack, and to get his name out, he sent out a PROMO COPY for the OSCAR race. now, i don't normally recommend downloading music but it IS ILLEGAL to buy this CD as it was not intended to be bought. i am lucky to OWN it as i bought it on EBAY it its THE ENTIRE SCORE - NO DIALOGE. Its less then 45 mins in length and has 35 tracks if i am not mistaken. it worth getting. my friend have downloaded it off of TORRENTRACTOR or TORRENTSPY and i recommend you do that, plus add the tracks you get here and make a COMPLETE soundtrack. that what i did.

5 out of 5 stars Dialogue helped and hurt........2007-05-21

I understand why some listeners are frustrated that the film's dialogue was included with some of the tracks. For the most part, I enjoy how it brings back memories of this very clever film. But there are times where I wish I didn't have to hear it. Wouldn't it be nice if this was produced like the musical instrument lesson books with CD's that have one set of songs as solo and one set of songs with accompaniment? I'd love that choice. Funny, though, how I never notices some of the background music in scenes. I love those old songs, and would love to be able to have those songs without dialogue. All in all, I am satisfied with this CD. I am glad I knew ahead of time that this was produced so "uniquely".

4 out of 5 stars Oceans Eleven Soundtrack.......2007-05-13

Some songs are a mix of lines and music (mostly moments) from the movie. There are several uninterrupted music only selections. The songs fall in chronological order and all have the same modern, funk. My personal favorite is the rap song (which also has a heavy amount of funk)which is shown in the movie just as Brad Pitt's character is introduced and giving his poker classes. It's funky without being hard or uninteligible. Also, the music played while the heist is being completed is a funky, hip victory song. Great background party music.

4 out of 5 stars For the Circus Animals!.......2007-04-13

i don't want to write an over analyzed review of this soundtrack But what i do want to say is if you're looking to hear the same great music that you heard in the movie& music that made you look this CD up in the first place...you've got it here! you will be able to draw visuals of the movie while listening to it. from Brad Pitt's bar lounge scene to the ending scene in front of the fountain in Vegas...don't over analyze this CD...it's fun and contains all the great tunes from the movie!!! if you're a fan of the Ocean's movies...but this CD!!!

    3 out of 5 stars Okay, but..........2007-01-10

I would have preferred not to have the dialogue mash into the tracks. It's typical of Soderbergh soundtracks, and I don't mind the dialogue being there, I'd just prefer it on its own tracj (like, say, the Snatch soundtrack).

In the almost two and a half years it took to make their third album, Canadian rage rockers Finger Eleven have undergone a radical transition. Gone are the overwrought guitars, gratuitous venting, and nu-metal posturing that marked their early work. In their place are some tightly constructed melodies and emotionally articulate lyrics weaved into a coherent song cycle that documents the disintegration of a relationship. This isn't to say the one-time headbangers have gone soft because they're writing love songs and featuring gorgeous acoustic guitar work. There are some bonecrushers among the 11 songs here, but the sturdy rockers are less prosaic than the band's earlier efforts, and it's clear that they have paid more attention to song structure and dynamics, although Scott Anderson's staccato delivery can give you whiplash. --Jaan Uhelszki

    Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Very solid album.......2006-05-07

This album is definitely slower and more radio-friendly than Greyest of Blue Skies but by no means is it an inferior product, nor is it derivative or bland. They haven't sold out to create this sound, the guitars are at the standard and creativity we've come to expect and in particular the first five tracks are very enjoyable. The only reason I gave this album 4 stars is that the last half of the album drags somewhat.

    5 out of 5 stars I want more!!!.......2006-02-22

I'm a long time fan of the band and this CD did not dissapoint! Some argue that "One Thing" is the best song here but it grows tiresome to me and sounds too much like a Beetles B-side...the real gem here is "THOUSAND MILE WISH" which is just perfectly pieced together. I admitt that I was taken aback by the inclution of aucustic tracks here...I was not expecting this at all, but I was pleased that a band with such an aray of talent was able to bring something new to the table. I still feel that the best way to really appreciate this band is to see them live...I've seen them 3 times now and will again as soon as possible. From start to finish this CD is amazing...Songs like "OTHER LIGHT" and "STAY IN SHADOW" showcase the side we've all seen, songs appearing on TGoBS album. "ABSENT ELEMENTS" and "COMPLICATED QUESTION" have the general F11 vibe to them, much like their contemperary singles off their debut album Tip. "GOOD TIMES", the first single, has a feel reminisent of "DRAG YOU DOWN" while "LAST SCENE OF STRUGGLING" is sure to excite. "THERAPY" has a much different sound to it and can't be classified. It's decent, not my favorite, but warents a listen. My favorite track aside from the brilliant "THOUSAND MILE WISH" is the stunning closer "OBVIOUS HEART"...the chorus is just so titilating it will be in your head for days. I love this band, they are a solid brilliant band that stands the tests of time and continue to turn out masterpiece after masterpiece...I just wish more people took notice!

5 out of 5 stars Keep it coming!.......2005-12-10

Great CD hands down. I've been a huge fan of Finger Eleven for years now and each album they release has a welcomed twist on the previous. Let me warn you though as previous reviewers have discovered: 'One thing' is not a typical Finger Eleven recording. It's a great song, but the category 'Hard Rock/Alternative' means just that (do some research!). 'Thousand Mile Wish' is another one of these irregularities regarding Finger Eleven's usual style (despite its dark nature). The rest of the CD is the complement of these two songs and a good representation of the previous work from the band - their heavier side. 'Other Light', 'Obvious Heart', and 'Therapy' are my personal favorites. Collectively it's a well rounded CD with varying intensities and sounds. I respect the band for branching into different styles to see what works for them (as serious artists do), and in this case it payed off. Great work, 5 stars.

3 out of 5 stars One Thing sucks, get over it already.......2005-09-27

that's about all i have to say. i knew that song wasn't that great before it ever hit the radio, and then radio just killed it. and then when the much better Thousand-Mile Wish came out, everyone said "Oh, it sounds too much like One Thing". this is one reason why i don't listen to the radio anymore.

overall the album is decent. a lot of the harder songs on the album are too slow to get into (despite the very well-written lyrics of scott anderson), and the straight-ahead approach just doesn't seem to work for these guys. much like how the straight-ahead approach nearly killed the new nine inch nails record.

another example of even the best of rock music getting worse. it's an alright buy, but greyest of blue skies and tip are the better buys.

oh, and don't listen to the rainbow butt monkeys. just let that phase rot in it's grave where it belongs.

1 out of 5 stars Should have read reviews before I bought.......2005-09-21

If you are considering buying this album because you like the song "One thing" - don't! The other songs on this album are very hard rock/metal. "One thing" does not represent the type of music this band plays at all. If you like hard rock/metal (which I do) you may enjoy this album. I personally find the songs monotinous. They all sound the same to me (with the exception of "One thing", of course.)

With front man Daniel Johns at the helm, Silverchair refuses to do the same thing twice. When the Australian trio released their first album, Frogstomp, in 1995, they were merely 15 years old. Each new album since has been a dramatic departure from the last, and the band eventually shed their sticky grunge image with 2002's Diorama. A returning cast of producer Nick Launay (INXS, Talking Heads), mixer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse), and legendary composer Van Dyke Parks (U2, Beach Boys) coddled Young Modern--yet another completely different version of Silverchair. The lyrics are pensive, the melodies cathartic, and the music is distinctly refined. Having already proven his epic vocal ability, Johns appeals to more creativity and experimentation this time around. He retains his singing style, but at times he is reminiscent of AC/DC's Brian Johnson, at others of the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson. Listeners will be shocked to learn that the upbeat opening track, "Young Modern Station," is the heaviest rock song on the record. "Straight Lines" is a celebratory pop fête, and "If You Keep Losing Sleep" makes Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" sound almost docile. Van Dyke Parks's renowned talent shines on the tracks with orchestral arrangements like "All Across the World" and the three-part epic "Those Thieving Birds." The entire album is seamless and offers new facets with each listen. Once again, Silverchair has clearly taken another giant step forward. --Jordan Thompson

    Album Description

Silverchair are Australia's most successful rock band with five #1 albums and global sales of over 6 million CDs. Since exploding onto the alternative rock scene as teens in the mid-90s, Silverchair have grown up into a much more eclectic and melodic band. They've built a large and passionate fan base and have garnered high regard among critics and peers that once seemed unlikely. "Young Modern" is the fastest selling album of the band's career in their homeland - propelled by the #1 hit single "Straight Lines". It also features orchestral arrangements by legendary Beach Boys collaborator Van Dyke Parks. Look for Silverchair on a North American summer tour that includes a Lollapalooza appearance alongside acclaimed artists Arcade Fire and Bright Eyes.

    Customer Reviews:

    1 out of 5 stars A Heartbreaking Atrocity.......2007-07-25

Yeah, I already know that the 'loyal llamas' are going to defend Silverchair to my review because up until a year ago, I was in their shoes and defended this band against anyone. I have been a loyal Silverchair fan for over 12 years now. Their progression from FROGSTOMP to FREAK SHOW to NEON BALLROOM was incredible. The music stayed beautiful and catchy with enough crunch and emotion to make Silverchair the very band who first got me into rock music. DIORAMA was quite a change for Silverchair but it was still recognizable as a work by them and at least a few songs featured each member of the band. Enter now YOUNG MODERN. This album is laughable at best (and that's if you are completely trashed on alcohol) when compared to their previous works. Not a single song on this album can even be taken seriously with all of the "oohh oohh oohh's" and annoying feminine vocal melodies (let it be known that I have nothing against female vocalists by the way as I love Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Era For A Moment, Lunatica, Evanescence, etc.) but come on! This is simply not Silverchair. It is The Dissociatives' second album or at very best, Daniel's solo album with the "Silverchair" name printed on the cover. This is not what any fan of Silverchair wanted to hear when we started listening to them. If I wanted to hear The White Stripes or The Polyphonic Spree then I would listen to those bands. When I listen to Silverchair, I want to hear Silverchair and ONLY Silverchair. The fact that what I hear coming from the computer speakers is the same band who created the same beautiful and catchy songs such as "Emotion Sickness", "Nobody Came", "Miss You Love", "My Favourite Thing", "Without You", "Shade", etc. is heartbreaking. Gone are ANY type of guitar riff or crunch or any raw emotion in Daniel's voice. In fact you are more likely to hear a guitar riff on a gangsta rap album than you are on YOUNG MODERN. There are 2 decent songs on this album that I can find somewhat worthy of being a Silverchair song (and that is simply unacceptable for a Silverchair album). Those 2 songs are "Waiting All Day" and "Straight Lines". The rest of the material on YOUNG MODERN (IMO) is utter garbage. The complexity of the music means nothing to me if I cannot enjoy it. For the first time in my life, I am utterly ashamed to be a Silverchair fan and after hearing this pop-funk horror of an album I can safely say that my loyal support of Silverchair through all 4 previous albums ends here. I want nothing further to do with Silverchair as they no longer have anything left to offer me if this is their new direction. This is the most disappointing album I have ever listened to in my life and it even makes the latest disasters by Metallica and Linkin Park seem like masterpieces in comparison. Daniel has stated that he hopes to reclaim the same fame in America that they had with their album FROGSTOMP and to that I say the guy is entirely delusional and has been brainwashed (I am guessing by Paul Mac). This stuff will not sell well on the commercial American market, plain and simple. Anyone who believes it will is just as delusional as the band themselves are. But that is totally fine with me if this album fails in America as I don't want many people to know about this disasterpiece and then hopefully it will disappear and be forgotten. The far happier ending is pretending that Silverchair died after DIORAMA, so that way I can find peace in believing that they at least went out with a little bit of dignity left. At this rate, we can all expect Daniel to trash his guitar for the next album and instead hear him pick up playing polka music with his accordion while yodeling (and of course the 'loyal llamas' will be right there to praise that decision also to help inflate Daniel's already immeasurably huge ego). I won't be purchasing this pathetic joke of an album. And if you all want to hear "keyboard rock" done right then check out The Panic Division.

4 out of 5 stars Good for them, something different, but far cry from past.......2007-07-25

This is a good album on it's own, but almost soft rock/easy listening compared to first three albums. Diorama was a peak of potential, but this is by far the most comercial and polished I have ever heard this band. They don't have their angry young feeling anymore, and are hunkered down on just playing moderate rock and roll. It is almost as far of a departure as what Megadeth did with Risk, but I think silverchair pulled this off with a milder transition.
This has a lot of synths on it, along with no real hard rock edge. Straight lines and Strange behavior are two better tracks, but this is still and album that i'm going to have to grow used to. Overall it is worthy of the four stars, because this album is just solid songs all the way through. These boys are growing up, but I hope they don't forget their roots.

4 out of 5 stars pretty impressive stuff.......2007-07-24

This is the most impressed I've been with a Silverchair CD. The songs are sophisticated "power pop" with complex, opulent arrangements and well designed production schemes. I've already read a fair amount regarding Van Dyke Parks' role in shaping this album, and appropriately so. The "Thieving Birds / Strange Behaviour" 7-minute suite is relatively amazing, a classic example of Parks' genius (and songwriter D. Johns' vision too). Still, Van Dyke is only credited with collaborating on 4 songs, so I think Young Modern reflects more of the band's leap forward than anything about their famous-name partnerships.

One important note to listeners: The first time thru, there's so much going on with these songs that your filters for external stimuli might overload, causing you to reject this music as a confusing mess. Give it time, though -- the songs only really started to "grab" me on the third listen. Also, if I've made this CD sound like it's classical or something, there are more than enough moments of straight-ahead rocking. A song such as the catchy "The Man That Knew Too Much" should do the trick.

        Album Description

The band describes the new album's sound as a yin-yang synthesis of beauty and destruction. Produced by James Michels (Deftones, Seether, Buckcherry), this record runs the gamut of sound and emotion, from the wistful opening "Leaving Song" and the harsh anti-materialist rant of "Lay Your Money Down" to the simple piano chords of the regretful "Stray" and the wistful ballad "My Ordinary World" to the propulsive melodic hardcore of "These are the Days" to the techno questioning of the title track. The album reflects the band's inner torment, a way of dealing with the uncertainty of the modern world. Songs like the album's first single, "Different Than You" and "Fear of Being Alone" explore the conundrums of coming into this world alone and leaving alone, and what you gather along the way.

5 out of 5 stars The Exies rock as always.......2007-05-16

I just picked up the new album this morning and I love it! I have been a fan of the Exies since their album Inertia came out. I always thought they were a great band and knew they never got the recognition they deserved. I believe that this CD will get them out there and be heard. All the songs are awesome. They have everything, from hard rocking songs like "Different Than You" "Dose" and "Lay Your Money Down" to melodic slow songs like "Stray" and "Once in a Lifetime". I can guarantee that this album will have you rocking the whole way through and you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it to all rock- lovers out there!

3 out of 5 stars Still their worst, but better than I thought.......2007-07-09

The amazon reviewer is pretty accurate, although repetive is something the _________ just squeezed in to make her review seem like she's all cool. Let the 311 fans handel it (same goes for Anthony Rupert's lame review of Don't Tread On Me.

As far as i'm concerned, Amber, Champange is a song that they have never done before, so it shoots down any merit your review has, Jennifer. For the last time, The RHCP are totally different from 311! Those bands have collaborated before (on tour), and they of course know that they differ. Two different bands. The amazon reviewers crappy review is totally null and void. Same goes No Doubt. Collborations, whoop-de _________ do.

Even though the main reviewer is totally off, there are some points correct, that most people have already made up. From Chaos isn't terrible, but it's the worst. The lyrics are pretty mediocre, and this is easily 311's mediocre. I ain't expecting another Grassroots, but From Chaos is a bit of a bore. There, I said it.

I liked 8 songs on here, but it dosen't save the album. 311's album each have a different sound (so shut up, naysayers, you just stupid to notice).
The sound on here though is just too _______ derative at times, at least four of the songs on here are mediocre and boring re-hashes of better songs. IT has an akward blend of the numerous hard riffs of Music and 311, with akward at times beats, with somtimes weird sound effects that hail from the Space era. From Chaos just at times rip-offs the numerous songs on their earlier years.

From Chaos is just okay, just nothing too groundbreaking, like Transistor. There will always be stupid non 311 fans who don't know _______ about 311, and those people shouldn't get all the attention (the editorial reviewer and Anthony Rupert) because they don't know what they are talking about.

        5 out of 5 stars 311 From Chaos Rocks.......2007-01-30

They hooked me with their melodic "Amber." That song in itself is worth buying the album. They really hit hard with their opening "You Get Worked." It's just a premonition of what's to come after. They mix it up a bit with "Champagne," "Amber," and "I'll Be Here Awhile," and the
rest the album does not disappoint. They show off their musical talent and precision playing in this installment. Check it out!

4 out of 5 stars One of their better CD's.......2006-12-16

I am a huge 311 fan. Heard of them way back with Music and Grassroots. I am not sure why a lot of people don't like this CD. This CD is back to old skool. It has a lot of the jams they used to do in Grassroots. Very hard core but it also has a track as like "Amber" and "I'll Be Here Awhile" that go along with their chill side. I have to admit while I AM a big fan of 311, I don't quite like their new stuff. While I appreciate they are growing as artists and I love the reggae and funk as much as the next guy, they've lacked the mix on their newer CD's. There needs to be a good balance of jam and chill but its been mostly alternative. Nonetheless, this CD is probably their last good jam CD so don't miss it.

5 out of 5 stars From Chaos comes tight cd.......2006-08-08

In the '90s 311 became an underground success story with the releases of 'Music' and 'Grassroots', and later a commercial breakthrough with 'Blue' and 'Transistor' due to the popular chart-topping 'Down' and 'All mixed up' and the beloved 'Beautiful disaster'. Then in 2000, after complications arose with their Capricorn label, they switched over to Volcano.

'From Chaos' (their first Volcano release) was an awesome way to kick off a new decade and new millenia, armed with a new label and new recording studio, known as 'The hive'. 'From Chaos' showcased a much more focused and semi-creative side of 311 that stylistically is on-par with 'Grassroots' but with a perfect and solid recording and production. It doesn't hurt that the album contains the hits 'You wouldn't believe', 'I'll be here awhile' and the highly popular 'Amber' (arguably their most popular song). Just steer clear of 'You get worked' and 'Full ride' and you'll hear some of 311's finest lyrics. Listen to 'Amber' and 'Uncalm' and tell me that 311 aren't at the top of their game lyrically.

If you're a fan of 'Music', 'Grassroots' or 'Blue', then 'From Chaos' is a must listen.

        4 out of 5 stars Decent.......2006-05-13

This is a good album, not my favorite from the band but very solid nonetheless. Not many tracks that I just don't really like (the only one that comes to mind is Uncalm), but not many tracks that are my all time favorites either. I do think Champaigne is a great song, and also like You Get Worked/Hostile Apostle/I Told Myeslf a lot, and the other songs on the album are pretty decent as well. It is definitely a varied album of styles, like most 311 albums.
