Tru- Tru 2 Da Game.......2007-01-17
Tru's sophomore studio album was "Tru 2 Da Game" (1997). These days I find it hard to listen most No Limit releases (with exceptions like "Ghetto D", and some of Tru's work) and appreciate them like I used to. Tru consisted of Master P (A.K.A. Percy Miller) and his two brothers Silkk the Shocker (A.K.A. Vyshonn Miller) & C-Murder (A.K.A. Corey Miller). This was the second of four album's, their first two releases remain my favourite. Guest appearances on this two disc release come from No Limit family: Mia X, Mo B Dick, Big Ed, Mr. Serv-On, C-Loc, Kane & Abel. 3.5.
Highlights:
"I Always Feel Like" - Tru delivers an outstanding cut about paranoia/stress of being in the dope game. Excellent Chorus.
"Fedz" - Tru talk about the feds and the game backed by some memorable singing from Mia X.
"Tru'?s" - backed by some upbeat production Tru, Big Ed, Mr Serv-On talks about trying to make it from Rags to Riches and staying real.
"Pop Goes My 9" - Silkk, Master P, Kane & Abel and Mo B Dick provide another impressive track. Mo B Dick delivers another standout chorus, he is the same artist who laced "Bourbons & Cadillac's" with a classic chorus.
"No Limit Soldiers" - Tru delivers a grimey cut backed by some hardhitting production.
A tasty slice of Americana........2006-12-23
In my formative years, I found myself in a difficult struggle to fit in with my peers. It seems that my affinity for playing games such as "Magic: the Gathering" and "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D)" with several like-minded friends from marching band held me back from gaining any real form of acceptance from the "cool" people in my class. Simply put, I was an outcast. Even my father, rest his soul, would not speak to me directly.. we would only communicate through e-mail (which was a crude, unpolished technology at the time) because he could not stand the sight of such a poor excuse for a young man.
Then, one day, my life took a drastic turn.
One fall day, I was introduced to the visionary artistry of Master P, Silkk da Shocker, and C-Murder by a fellow McDonald's kitchen associate. He informed me that he possessed something that would undoubtedly change my life. I was very reluctant to take his offering.. it was a blank tape that contained a simple inscription on one side, side A I believe it was. In bold, black print (obviously the work of a Sharpie Marker or perhaps a Marks-o-Lot) was written the word, "Ugh." Little did I know, I was about to enter what I now refer to as the "Platinum Years" of my life...a time in which my morals, values, virtues, and worldview would be changed forever.
Tru 2 da Game was the album that he gave me. I had never heard anything as beautifully mesmerizing as what I heard that day...swirls of sound and color...gyrations of beat and rhythm combined with a flavor of poetry that was completely foreign to me at the time...brutal honesty and sincerity that traversed the wires of my headphones out to the speakers and down into my ear canal all the way through my veins and then into my heart gripping it in the same manner of which a 12th level Paladin clutches his +3 Hammer of Odeonus. Completely and utterly captivating.
I have since purchased both versions of the CD (The one that contains the track "Smokin' Green" and the version that does not) and I have listened to both of them equally every day for the last 9 years doing my best to follow the virtues and ideology that Master P and company worked so vociferously to layer within the tracks of this un-deniable masterpiece...which has been a proven formula for success. I won't go into a great deal of detail.. just know that life is good.
I hope that my story of success will serve you all as a form of motivation and inspiration.
If I could give more stars, I would. Since I am forced to work within the restrictions of a 5-star rating convention, 5 stars it is.
TRU 2 DA GIZAME.......2006-09-30
one of the most solid tru cd's, double disc the no limit record special, cmurda silk n P.. THE REAL UNTOUCHABLES the south vets, COP THIS CD defintly worth it... most of the songs are off the hook, unlike half the new cds from horrible artists like T.I. who have one song on the radio... P made it in this game with NO LIMIT RECORDS his own store he didnt have radio help he is a true king of the south...

This cd is one of the best no limit cd's eva. I just want to know why the H3ll they left out #9? And if you are a true tru fan then you know what the "REAL #9" IS. If you really want this CD I recomend doing an "ebay" search for the original. Rather than this one. For some reason when they reproduced it, they left out #9 and replaced it with something els. -SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN--SMOKIN GREEN-#9#9#9#9#9#9#9
