very under rated.......2001-07-19
when i bought this album i wasnt sure what to expect but it turned out to be one of the freshest albums ive heard in a while and mayabe the best debut album since 2pacs 2pacalypse now or nas illmatic. Dope beats , dope rhymes, good production n great guests such as dmx, redman, method man,e 40,8ball,mjg,wc. with all that i cant understand why so few ppl know who jayo felony is to me he is 1 of the most original rappers around and unbelievebly under rated along wid canibus n xzibit.there is no best song on this album every song is a classic n to me its a classic the only reason its not considered a classic cos ppl dont know who jayo felony is i just cant understand it i hope he bllows up soon and gets the props he deserves.I recommend this album to any rap fan n i gurantee youll be shocked how under rated jayo felony is.
San Diego's Finest..........2000-11-21
For a young rap star that has been over looked in the industry, I am surprised to see him still putting out album after album. This album is one of his best work. I think the best song on here is LOVLEY! Till then...In my boxers and chuck taylors.

Rodeo Cowboys and Lost Heroes.......2007-04-10
Whatch Gonna Do with a Cowboy, quickly became Chris LeDoux's and the Western Underground's flagship album. It carries such tracks as: Hooked on a 8 second ride, in which Chris sings about how addicting the rodeo lifestyle is. Making ends meet, was not written by Chris, but certainly fit his lifestyle. You just can't see him from the road, depicts the dying western film industry, where cowboys like John Wayne and Alan Ladd were wrangling cattle and maybe saving a damsel in distress. Probably the most popular Chris LeDoux song was Cadillac Ranch, which is about a farming/ranching family, which met with hard times, so they turned barn into a bar, gave all the cattle away, and now all they raise is "cain." Chris LeDoux, may not have had many fans, but the ones he had, and could empathize with his life, were diehards. They share the same passions. Like Garth Brooks, I am a LeDoux fan. I can relate to his lifestyle, his longing for the open prairies and snow capped mountains, even his longing to work cattle or mend fences. Chris was a man that did what was required to sustain his Wyoming ranch. This is what makes Chris' songs so authentic. He sang the songs that reflect his life, the good and the bad aspects of it. This is not a hip-hop or pop album, if you like that kind of music this isn't for you. However, if you can appreciate authentic ranch life and have ever worked cattle in the middle of a snow storm, ever went eight seconds on a crow-hopping bronc, ever tied a calf in under ten seconds then this is you music, or if you haven't, but envy the people that have, well this is your kind of music and I can bet that the volume on your compact disc player will be hitting the max.
His commercial apex.......2006-10-03
This was probably Chris' commercial apex, such as it was; he was coming off his "newfound" popularity (we old-time fans already loved Chris) from Garth Brooks' mention of him and he sings a duet with the notorious Mr. Brooks. Still, it's a fine LeDoux CD.
i dont like country but i love this cd.......2002-05-06
chris ledoux is like no other country singer he rocks his stage performances rival that of hard rock bands without the blood and guts from people bashing themselves. chris knows how to sing a love song but he knows how to rock n roll too. the song cadalic ranch sounds like a rock song from begning to end. the guitar is cranked up with lots of distortion (for country anyway) and some cool lead solos throught the song. the dance mix to this song is avabile on his album under this old hat and it rocks even more then this one. chris was doing rockin country before there was rockin country. if you have ever heard charlie daniels and know how he rocks the house well chris ledoux is that and even more especcialy on the guitar part. his song on here 8 second ride is a country song talking about riding in the rodeo but its sounds rock n roll all the way with lots of driving guitar and cool licks to boot. the song little long haired outlaw sounds like some mexican song at first but turns into something wild and the guitar becomes the lead and just rocks the house. he has some other great rock n country songs too like on another album his duet with charlie daniels called even cowboys like a little rock n roll. just take a listen if you ahve never liked country before take a listen to the songs i just listed starting with cadilac ranch and then go to 8 sec ride and just see what im talking about. if you do like country give this cd a listen and hear some cool country done with some beat and drive behind it. i never have been one to listen to country but yet i like chris's music some of it anyway.
Western Story teller.......2000-01-12
Chris is a great wesern storyteller. In the song "Call of the wild", I can picture the places that he sings about and see "an eagle as she glides..." In "You just cant see him from the road", reminds me of some of the colorful chacters that I've me while living as a boy out west. Awsome CD that tell's it like it is. Like Garth Brooks said it best in his live version of "Much too young..." "Godbless Chris LeDouix!"
Chris really sings from his heart in this one, best yet........1999-05-21
I have always been a Chris fan but this has to be the best yet. I love the songs that sound like they come from the heart, in this cd they all do and they all have a secret meaning in them wich make them injoyable to listen to.

The last time I heard Jayo.......2007-07-12
I think that its sad that Jayo got shelved by Def Jam. The fact that they can sign Jeezy and all these other nonrappers speaks volumes of the type of record company they are. Jayo has a slew of guests on this album but make no mistakes, he can and does hold his own. Tracks like Nobody On Dry Land, Nitty Gritty(whick samples Whodini's Six Minutes Of Funk), Easy To Get In, Hustle In My Genes and End Of The World prove my point correct. DMX and Method Man join Jayo on Whatcha Gonna Do, Mack 10 and Jayo give a good perfomance on Finna S*** On Em and Eightball & MJG show up on the second best song on the album How Angry. The best track on the album is J.A.Y.O. which features E-40 and Ice Cube who rip the track in half right along with Jayo Felony. The album has flaws like the awful Bumpin Bullet Loco, the awkward sounding ode to a girl Lovely and the Gettin Loop Loop skit is just pointless. The Whatcha Gonna Do remix with Redman(whose verse was tight), Mack10 and WC sounds forced but thats about it. Bottom Line: Jayo Felony's Whatcha Gonna Do album is easily his best album and wins the award for most slept-on album by a westcoaster in 1998. Jayo Felony has potential that a stupid label like Deaf Jam could care less about. This album was one of those proofs of his potential. Standout Tracks: WHATHCHA GONNA DO, NOBODY ON DRY LAND, NITTY GRITTY, IM DEADLY, FINNA S*** ON EM, END OF THE WORLD,HUSTLE IN MY GENES AND J.A.Y.O.
Sandyleggomymuthaf*ckineggo.......2006-03-11
There's only three artists I've found on Amazon so far that accurately represent San Diego, California. Those three are: Jayo Felony, Unbroken and Manual Scan. Three very different musical styles, but all undeniably San Diego's finest.
Phat.......2006-02-24
Bullet Loco comes tight on his second album. He still brings that underground heat, while appealing to mainstream heads as well. "Whatcha Gonna Do" (w/ DMX and Method Man) and the remix (w/ Mack Dime, WC/ and Redman) are surefire hits with the bangin west coast foreground beat with some hints of east coast beats in the horns in the background (esp. on the remix). The track "I'm Deadly" has the mobb style beat, like something Sam Sneed, Dre, Ice Cube would have used in the early to mid 90's; it is hot. It is old fashioned gangsta rap, plain and simple, and it works. "Nobody On dry Land" is a neat, melodic, underground feeling track. There is some element of G-Funk on tracks like "Love Don't Love" (w/Kokane)and "Lovely." The South East San Diego element is evident on the beat "Easy To Get In" which slams in the trunk. The track with EightBall and MJG "How Angry" is also cool with a neat southern influenced beat. all in all, jayo and his production team have hit us with a late 90's powerhouse with all the well roundedness of the production of this album.
Jayo Misdemeanor.......2005-06-26
The album is definitely gangsta let's get that straight. Even with some eastcoast and down south guest appearances this still sounds like a straight up westcoast album. When I listen to Jayo I dont think San Diego but Los Angeles instead. But its whatever though. I think the Anita Baker remake is one of the hottest songs on the album as well as the last song on the album with Ice Cube and 40 water. But on side 2 (if you had the tape) there are like 3 songs in a row that is fast foward material. If you want to get some throw back Westcoast music then go get this album.
Another Jayo Classic.......2004-12-29
Even though it has been 3 years since his last release and he went "mainstream" and put out the album on Def Jam, he makes his 2nd classic album in as many tries. I think "Take A Ride" is ever so slightly better but this is still a 5 star classic. His lyrics, as always, are tight and his style is different and unique but he leaves his gangbangin' element out of most of the album unlike his other 3 albums. Def Jam did not promote it how it should've (like they do with all there west coast arists - Richie Rich, Warren G, South Central Cartel to name a few). The beats are great and pure west coast - produced by DJ Silk (7 songs) E-A Ski & T-Phunk (3 songs each) and Jayo does 2 songs. The guests are from east, west, and south and they're on 7 songs. It has 5 classic tracks, 8 good/great songs and the other 2 are o.k (on Jayo isn't even on). None on here I skip other than the few skits. A must have album for all rap fans.

Great New Orleans funk-jazz!.......2000-10-31
If you're a tuba or bari sax player, add eight or ten more stars to my review, because this band spotlights its superb tuba and bari sax. A great solid dance CD, although I like the regular Dirty Dozen band -- with the electric bass, organ etc. -- for a more straight-up funk sound. This one is a tad more artsy and restrained. But make no mistake, it's great fun!............KOBY.
Great New Orleans sound..........1999-09-04
This was a great CD to introduce the pre-schoolers I teach to the various instruments used in Dixieland jazz. The musicians are consummate, inventive, and best of all, FUN! Toe-tappin', body-wigglin' music for anyone.

Some new good ol' rock and roll........2006-01-01
For all the press on their juvinility, Honky Toast's debut album shows a mature and varied musical style. Their first album, "Whatcha Gonna Do Honky?" does contain crude and vapid lyrics, dealing with such "immature" and socially immature topics as masturbation and other classic punk rock themes like poverty. But, unlike comparable punk bands such as the ramones, HT layers on the irony with heavy funk grooves, mellow instrumental-heavy ballads. Without the lyrics, Honky Toast is just another talent in the enormous pool of new rock, but their unique and unabashing combination of sophmoric lyrics (or are they really subtly deep?) with skillfull musicianship makes this band truly something new. They have a similar sound to classic rock bands like AC/DC or early Van Halen, but unlike many copy-cat bands which just rehash old riffs and extend guitar soloes, HT is actually able to come out with original, and clean! sounds. HT is able to utilise complex rythmic patterns with precision and enthusiasm without going overboard with solos. The singing can be a bit mumbley, but it is more than made up by the amazing bass work of "E. Z. Bake."
If lyrics like "I don't mind my situation, I'm the self-made king of masturbation" don't insult you, Whatcha Gonna Do Honky?" is a great album to listen to when you want some good old rock and roll but you're sick of the same songs.
Love It!.......2004-09-28
This band is awesome. Best listened to while driving, especially "Rocks Off". It's refreshing to know rock 'n' roll is stll alive and well, at least with these guys.
one of the all-time NYC classics.......2004-05-01
This band is not for everyone. Neither were the Ramones/Television/Dead Boys,etc.. However, this is the real deal, kiddies. Either you get the joke, or you don't. You'll either love it or hate it. These guys ruled the L.E.S. for a while. One of the greatest live bands that NYC has known.
Honky Toast Rocks.......2004-03-13
Rock mixed with pop mixed with clever lyrics spells Honky Toast. After buying several cd's from CD now this cd was recomended to me. It has been my #1 cd ever since
The Best CD ever!.......2000-05-12
This the best CD I've ever owned! If you like the samples, then you will love the CD.Every track is great!
