Album Description
What do you do when your best friend...more like a brother than any brother....is dying? Of course you care for him, you cry for him. And if you're John Easdale, you write him a song.
That song, "Everybody Dies" along with other new Dramarama tracks originally started out as part of the next Easdale solo project, but some plans are meant to be changed. After having 15,000 screaming, sweat-drenched fans sing along during thier performance at a concert for LA radio giant KROQ (where Dramarama's signature tune "Anything Anthing" is the #1 most requested song EVER.) original Dramarama members Easdale, Peter Wood and Mark (Mr. E Boy) Englert didn't need any more convincing - Dramarama, the name and the band would go on.
Now, Dramarama has gone back into the studio and emerged with a new album, "Everyboyd Dies" continuing their gwest to better the world with their music. Okay, well, at least to have fun and create more intense, intelligent, incredible rock & roll. To quote "Everybody Dies".

The end........2006-05-18
This album made me very sad, because it is Not Very Good. One could even say that it is Quite Bad.
The only song I liked even a little was the title track. The other stuff was derivative and sappy. Even their worst album (Box Office Bomb) wasn't this bad.
I now rescind my dreams of this band getting back together. It's time to move on to pastures less stale, fellas.
John Easdale is King.......2006-02-24
Just saw a show with the "mostly" original line-up in NJ last Fall. John is a real showman and you can tell he loves what he's doing on stage. After playing any early Dramarama song he referenced how that tune was 21 year old and recommended buying it a drink. Great songwriting never ages. This band rules! Buy the cd and their whole catalog.
John and the boys don't skip a beat.......2006-01-14
A friend of mine had just recently told me that he spotted what he thought was new Dramarama at a local music store. Could it be? After 10 years, is the original band back? Could they recapture the magic? Well, it's true. They are back -- 3 of the the founding members (no Carter or Jesse) -- and so is most of the magic.
I was familiar with John Easdale's music in recent years and have his solo album. That album was solid, containing John's wonderful blend of edgy and powerful vocal work. But the overall release was pretty uneven. EVERYBODY DIES takes that solo career a step further. It still sounds a lot like solo John -- and from what I understand, the songs were written earlier -- but the overall sound takes on a lot of the full Dramarama sound. The guitars are back in full throttle. And John seems right at home in the mix.
There are some mediocre moments on the CD. Some songs, while not terrible, are just perfectly average rock approaches (ex: Gotta Get Up). But when Dramarama is "on," they are REALLY on the money. "Physical Poetry" conjures up the best of their classic sound -- powerful, playful, and downright tight. Some of the more somber moments are still powerful and compelling. "The Bottle and the Bell" and "King for a Day" are polar opposites in style, but affect in an equally emotional way.
But the highlight for me is "Dropping the Curtains," one of the most powerful Dramarama moments recorded. It's captures the hard-driving, dark delivery of "Tiny Candles" (VINYL) or even "Where's the Manual" (HI-FI, SCI-FI). This is the band in its glory.
I'm not sure if there will be more Dramarama work in the future. But songs like "Dropping the Curtain" make you realize that there is an awful lot left in the tank for these boys. The music is still meaningful and not at all dated in sound. I guess it's hard to become stale with such a classic style.
Let's hope for much more from these guys. Rock music will be worse off without them.
THE RETURN OF ONE OF NEW JERSEY'S FINEST.......2005-11-05
Dramarama-probably THE most underrated band of the past 15-20 years. For some reason, they always flew under the radar despite putting out a string of high quality albums. In 2004, VH1 put the guys back together after a ten year hiatus for their "Bands Reunited" series and here are three-fifths of the original band back with all new material. Singer John Easdale's manager and best friend passed away recently and his death has colored almost all of the lyrics on the new record down to the title "Everybody Dies". But, rather than a maudlin, depressing tribute, we get an uplifting, bouncy tune lovingly referred to as "the Cowbell song". Listen, and you'll hear why. Elsewhere, we get "Physical Poetry", which sounds like the band never missed a beat after being apart for 10 years, a nice blues workout "Try 5 Times", guitarist Mark Englert's showcase "Dropping The Curtains" and "Good Night America", where Easdale lovingly critiques some aspects of our great country. My only complaints are the lack of some truly rocking material. If you only know the band from the tune "Anything, Anything", there's nothing remotely close here. Some people may find this album "too mellow", but it's just another side of the band. Plus- in the spirit of all of their original albums, they've included bonus hidden tracks. But, they missed the boat by not including their scorching version of Jim Carroll's "People Who Died" which is only included on their latest single available on Easdale's website. Pick it up if you can-plus you also get a version of the "Rainbow Connection" by the Muppets??? As a matter of fact, buy anything, anything from this band if you haven't done so by now. Highly recommended.
Dramarama returns with a killer new disc! Everybody Dies.......2005-10-26
What a great album! Starting with the quiet introspective of "The Bottle and the Bell" and kicking right into the title track, just about the happiest song about death you might ever hear, this album proves to be the most diverse Dramarama record to date. Old fans won't be disappointed, as Everybody Dies delivers with songs like the rocker "Try 5 Times" the irresistable love rocker "Physical Poetry" and the title track (the cowbell rocker) "Everybody Dies."
Except for "The Company" (my personal favorite) which was co-written with long time friend and original Dramarama guitar player Mark Englert, and "When Did You Leave Heaven" originally from the 1936 film "Sing Baby, Sing" the songs are all written by Dramarama front man John Easdale whose wry, honest lyrics have never been more insightful.
The album also features standout performances by Mark Englert and other longtime Dramarama guitar player Pete Wood as well as Easdale's "solo band"-mates Craig Ballam, Mike Davis, Tony Snow and others.
Oh... and don't miss the super secret hidden bonus tracks! Everytime I thought the record was over, it just kept on going!

I'm afraid to ask for more.......................2007-06-24
I don't know if I want a follow-up to a masterpiece. How can perfection possibly be surpassed? One of my all-time favorites.
What on earth?.......2006-05-17
To be honest, I didn't like this CD much at first. It really grew on me, though, and has been all I've listened to in the last three days.
True, it's a leap outside of the realm of what you'd expect from ESL and Thievery Corporation. Not a bad thing - who wants to never be surprised?
It's not nearly as ... happy as I expected it to be though, reading others reviews. It's definitely funky, but has a sort of dark vibe to it, too.
It rocks. Buy it. Absorb it.
Liking it more with every listen.......2005-01-22
This is an excellent disc - it ranks up there with Arkestra One and Chris Joss (and of course anything by TC) as my favorite recent ESL releases. Ok, and Les Hommes - I'm rarely disappointed by anything from ESL. Anyway, while comparisons to Lemon Jelly, Ursula 1000, and 9 Lazy 9 may all apply to a certain degree, Karminsky has distinct sound all their own that is fun and gets ya movin' but has depth at the same time. Excellent beats, quality textures and atmosphere you can cut with a knife put these guys head and shoulders among most others that aspire to the same. Can't wait to see what they do next....
This Girl LOVES the Power of Suggestion!!!.......2005-01-02
Listening to the tracks while driving in my econo sized fuel-emission-friendly car...reminds me of all the nouveau car company adverts on the telly...
When I listen to The Power of Suggestion, I actually FEEL like I'm winding around corners and breaking at the lights...when perhaps it's reality and I AM the car advert...hopelessly, I feel that the Toyota Echo hasn't reached the Mitsubishi or Volks Wagon of new age advertsing.
All that bubbly girly jargon aside...I absolutely LOVE this album...addiction? YES...and I have had some friends in the passenger side admitting the SUGGESTION that the album would be fantastic for late night parties and dark metro-dripping clubs...
I may be fantastically new to Electronica...and maybe I'm still not sure of the genre or versatility of the music...but for a girl who's into Hello Kitty, polka dots in her bathroom, snow shoes and Ice Bugs...this cd ROCKS...in it's own transforming, transcending, transmitting way! I recommend you be patient and make it through all the tracks and enjoy with a glass of chardonnay!
LIVING THE KARMINSKY EXPERIENCE!!!.......2004-08-17
Karminsky Experience Inc. doesn't deliver the traditional sound of the monotonous downtempo on the market today. Instead on the awesome "Power of Suggestion", Producers Dingle and Munn venture into the realm of sophisticated kitch as heard on the opening "Departures" and the groovey "A Little Happening", and top-notch tantra-grooves as heard on the amazing "Assignment Istanbul", "Belly Disco", "Shall We Dance", "The Hip Shiek" and "The Wayward Camel." Karminsky Experience Inc. also delivers the ultra-lounge sound on tracks like "Introducing Louis Pachini", "The Power of Suggestion" and "Exploration". As always, the ESL record label brings us yet another amazing talent! This one comes Highly Recommended!

Customer Reviews:
A Mussorgsky feast beyond praise.......2006-06-11
It was incredibly generous of DG to throw toegther these great performances--one of them legenday--in a bargain two-fer. The legendary performance, of course, is Richter's 1958 Pictures at an Exhibition performed in concert. The rights are owned by Philips, but I don't know if their latest remastering has been used here. The complaints about dreadful sonics are justified: the piano is far away and tinny, the Sofia audience coughs continuously--some of them are lucky to have left with their lungs intact--and there is a noisy exhaust fan in the foreground. It's a testimony to Richter's incandescent reading that it survives beyond all obstacles.
Another high point is the orchestral reading of Pictures under Giulini with the CSO. This was a famous recording in its day, because Giulini took the thrice-familiar music seriously, a bit slower than usual, adding many individual touches. Maybe his approach becomes ponderous and too serious at times, but it's one of a kind, and the solo winds in the orchestra are a delight.
Actually, I was most moved by Vishnievskaya's selection of songs, recorded in the Soviet Union with Igor Markevitch adding his superlative accompaniments--this is Mussorgsky singing of the highest order. But so is Fassbaender's Songs and Dances of Death, despite her lack of Slavic authenticity. Maazel bombs through Night on Bald Mountain with suitable thrills.
In all, this Panorama two-fer can't be faulted. It's one of the very best in the seeries, and several of the choicest things on it are otherwise out of print.
A STRONG REBUTTLE to the "bad" reviews........2006-05-19
155 minutes of music and one reviewer gives these CDs 1 star for couging here and there during 7 minutes of Richter's Pictures recital. Not continually mind you. I DON'T GET IT!
A reviewer doesn't like vocal music..so 2 stars. I DON'T GET IT! Just because one does not like "classical" vocals, doesn't mean they stink.
This is over 2 1/2 hours at single CD budget price. Geez...
Giulini gives a superbly recorded THRILLING performance of Pictures that, in my humble opinion, is second only to Reiner's. Also with the CSO 15 years earlier.
This 34+ minutes alone is worth the price of this collection.
The excerpts from Boris Gudonov are considered one of the best performances in the catalog (Karajan/VPO). 29 minutes and a good way to determine if you want to purchase the complete opera 3 CD set for over $30+ bucks.
Markevich/Vishnevskaya is considered to be the definitive version for the "6 songs".
The Kovanshchina prelude (Dawn on The Moskva River) is one the most heart rending themes in the canon. Simply gorgeous 6 minute piece of music.
I could go on and on.
Sure there are a few "gaffs" on these CDs. Maazel brings in Bald Mountain in under 10 minutes. Whew!
But hey...kudos to the orchestra for being able to play that well, that fast without stumbling over each other. Quite exhilerating acually.
And Then there is Richter's famous/"infamous" Pictures. Yes the annoying cough and a not so sonic recording. But anyone looking for just this track should already have been aware of this problem. "Classisists" have been talking about this problem for 50+ years. Obviously it can't be fixed. But still several coughs in 30+ minutes just makes it sound as live a performance as it is.
So let's recap...155 minutes of music with maybe parts of 15 minutes of minor problems for DISCOUNT bucks. Pretty good math I'd say. Equals 5 STARS where I come from.
Overall, this is an excellent CD for those who want Mussorgsky's major orchestral output in one package at a bargain price.
Top conductors, top orchestras, great performances and, except for Richter's Pictures, GREAT SONICS.
If you want a truly magnificent solo piano Pictures try Pletnev's on Virgin Classics. It will blow you away. And you get the bonus of his own piano transcription of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty which is even better.
ENJOY!
Review for Richter's "Pictures" Only.......2006-04-24
I was thrilled to find that Deutsche Grammophon has reissued Sviatoslav Richter's famous Sophia performance of "Pictures." I have owned it on tape, but have until now not had it on CD. I was surprised by previous reviews of this edition, since I thought that the explosive coughing had been toned down substantially. My tape broke years ago, so maybe my memory is off. But the re-engineering of this performace has been one of the most needed "retrofits" in the entire classical catalogue. The sound quality of this edition is certainly much better than the old Polydor record.
I also will refrain from entering the "Is it the greatest Pictures ever?"-debate. It is my favorite. One sometimes hears critics dismiss the piano--thus Mussorgsky's--version as monochromatic. But Richter presents a much more percussive version than most others, which may be why some people don't care for it. (My dad played this piece with a more Romantic reading.) It's a matter of taste: I have never cared for the Ravel version, probably because the percussive aspect doesn't translate into orchestration.
I almost never write music reviews, since I'd hate to convince people to plunk down good money on a CD that conforms to my taste but not theirs. BUT, if you have enjoyed this performace in the past . . .
I give five stars to Richter recital, which amazes me still. I agree that his deliberate "clunkers" are distracting. But having listened to this performance for almost twenty years, it is the "correct" playing of Pictures that now jars me. If you love this performance, as I clearly do, you'll be happy to have this CD. Just don't Google the Hartmann pictures which inspired Mussorgsky. It's disillusioning, but they aren't very good!
A bad whooping cough in 1958 in Sofia, Bulgaria.......2006-04-17
I was listening to the magnificient percussion and
overall sound of this double release, from 2000, #469 169-2,
when throughout the 1st CD, which opens up with the Mussorgsky
number PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION, there's an irritating
musician in the room, exhibiting signs of a bad whooping cough,
thereby totally destroying the 20 minutes or so recording!
There are many soft passages throughout the number, and
it is just incredible that DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON allowed the
bad caugh distractions and irritations (cough! cough! cough!)
to stay on the tape!
Unbelievable! It's so bad, I thought about unloading this
art work, at a second hand music store for a buck and a half,
although I surely paid more than $20 for this double CD release
a few years ago.
I don't care much for the vocal pieces, either.
Aside from that, the remainder of the release is very strong,
so ...I can't bring myself to unload it....yet, anyway.
Giant performance!.......2005-06-03
Carlo Maria Giulini has been to my mind one of the most aristocratic, intelligent, wisdom and remarkable conductors in the last Century. Born in 1914, Giulini owns that special touch of genius that has been proved in several ocassions.
There are several works in the Symphonic repertoire whose meaning depends in last instance of your personal world's approach. The list wold be extremely long but briefly I would name five classic works: The Eroica, The First of Mahler, The Ninth of Bruckner, The fourth of Nielsen and this work.
What do you demand from this work? Fireworks, nostalgic approach, musical musculature, effectism or tonal poolish?
Besides a great amount of recorded versions, there is however, a relatively small number of succesful performances from the early forties with Arturo Toscanini, Guido Cantelli and Igor Markevitch in the fifties, Dorati in the sixties and then Markevitch again and Giulini in the seventies.
Giulini gives this work a remarkable stature, enriching the score with sumptuous details and rubatos, smart accents, inflexions, color sense and above all a noblesse spirit that personally I haven't listened in any other previous version.
Go for this golden treasure recording. But do not expect great fireworks exercises. Giulini never searched the gallery' s applause. He was a honest and original master by himself: his personal landmark.

Awesome album.......2007-06-20
It's only a matter of time until this band hits the big time. What a great album!
Band on the rise.......2007-02-11
I really enjoyed listening to this CD....the lyrics are so passionate and purposeful and there is a common thread throughout the CD. And some of the songs really have a U2 quality about them.
I think we will be hearing a lot from this band.
I got insomnia..........2006-01-31
Miggs is a just a great band with an amazing live show. This CD is unbelieveable. On this CD...you wont skip a single song. Perfect and I Believe are my favorites. They are not my top favorite band, but these guys jumped up to my 3rd fav band with Insomnia(which kicks the crap out of the older one) and better than some of the new stuff I am hearing just released from bands like Yellow Card--ok that's another review!!!
Audible Addiction!.......2006-01-30
I heard about Miggs on Myspace. Got this album. Miggs has captured the market with their own special brand of alt RAWK come indy based music, skillfully overlayed with Don Miggs voice; a voice which manages to be powerfully strong, but yet vulnerable, and not too shiny. The songs deal with life, love and plain casualty in modern retionships. Yeah, many bands do the same but not with quite the same passion. Insomnia is lyrically dynamic, emotionally stirring and an audible addiction. Its in my special collection. I hope to see them live!
Different opinions.......2006-01-23
I don't agree with the 2 different types of reviews I've read of this CD by the Miggs.
Some say the Miggs don't have it,some say they do
argument?
It's neither,to me they sound like a band still developing, searching for a catchy song and a lot of bands I've heard on the college circuit start out this way and end up making it if they get even 1 hit song.
So, how's the Cd? It's okay, it's a bit softy and Poppy sounding, and I don't know if there's a hit song per say on this one but overall I've heard way worse bands selling their product on this site.
I think mostly girls would like this record because it's not heavy at all and the lyrics are nice..

Customer Reviews:
One of the band's best 3 albums.......2006-04-30
While the latter part of the 80s found D&K shuffling off to fluffy adult contemporary "Christian radio" fare, there was still a good amount of bite amid their pop on this one and for that reason, this one holds up better than projects like THE PLEDGE or GO TO THE TOP do.
The sound is 80s arena pop and with it comes catchy pop bombast (the somewhat Springsteen-ish reminiscence on "Every Moment") and outright goofy ephemerality (what possessed Dana and Eddie to write "Video Action"?). The single nod to the dictates of sugary Christian radio (wimpy ballad "Inside Out") is one of the few sonic mistakes here.
HIGHLIGHTS:
"Every Moment" looks back on a childhood spent in the faith and calls it a good one. ("I thank God for the good times/Every moment of my life..") "Addey" is an update of the prostitute tale first told on their THIS TIME THRU debut. "Soldier of Fortune" attacks the morally culpable inside the Church and out: an alligator shoe wearing drug dealer ("he got money/he's no fool/but he made it selling junk to little children after school") and a smarmy televangelist. ("He can quote/Every verse/He's got satellites along so you better hang on to your purse"). "Don't Stop the Music" is an apologetic for rock music as a carrier of the Gospel to those uninterested in hymns. ("I hear dissenting voices/Quick to disagree/but I'm on a music mission/They don't bother me/I'll sing the songs that set men free..") "She Believes" rides a heavily reverbed jagged guitar riff aimed straight at D&K's primarily teenaged audience. A young Christian girl sits home by the phone because her faith keeps her out of the 'popular' clique. ("She's not the kind of a girl that stays out all night/She's by herself but she's never alone...Don't ever laugh in her face/cuz she believes/She believes") "Holy Hustle" opens with an oh-so-80s "HUH!" from Key, but despite the slightly kitchy metaphor ("He got faith with lots of muscle/He can do the holy hustle") it's a decent message about backing up our talk with Christ-like concern for society's helpless and overlooked. "Up on a Cross" suggests the Church is majoring in the minors when we bicker over petty theological issues instead of uniting to complete the Great Commission. ("Will you still love me after I choose?/Doesn't the issue stand upon this truth?/Up on a cross/He died for sinners/Up on a cross between two thieves/Up on a cross/He died for you and me") As a great parting shot, Key notes "I heard the Devil's voice today..." at the coda.
LOWS:
"Inside Out" is riddled with cliche. ("Inside out/You know all there is to know/Inside out/From my head down to my toes..") "Video Action" is just too goofy lyrically despite a pretty good track. ("That's Jane Fonda in the window/Makes me wanna do some exercise") It wants to be a cautionary look at the influence media (movies specifically) have on our thoughtlife as Christians but it just can't overcome the silliness in the end.
BOTTOM LINE:
This is among their top 2 or 3 releases (with THIS TIME THRU and D&K). Recommended.

Album Description
The rocking ScribbleMonster & His Pals appear in a series of children's books published by The ScribbleBooks Company with the goal of building self-esteem and providing children with fun opportunities and age-specific media designed to cultivate learning through creative expression in art, thought, music and play. Like the ScribbleMonster books, the Best of Friends CD is designed to stimulate creative expression and encourage participation. Everyone who listens is invited to participate with opportunities for marching, dancing, singing, pretending, making animals noises - you name it!
Best of Friends contains 14 tunes that are better characterized as "family songs" than children's songs, as they truly provide something for everyone - even parents! This is real music performed by a real band. It's not boring or watered down; it's catchy, intelligent, honest music produced by a top-notch power-pop group.

Great music for kids (that adults can enjoy).......2007-01-03
I first learned about Scribble Moster by perusing the free downloads section of Amazon. When I listened to 'A Monster goes Roar', I was hooked. As a grown-up (my wife might disagree) rock-fan, I was shocked that a kids song could sound so cool and still be a kids song.
I also downloaded "Chocolate Milk" and loved it as well.
These are not your typical sing-song (drive Dad insane) kids songs. They are real bluesy-rock, with messages that are good for kids - and fun.
Just listen to the free downloads and see if you don't sgree.
I also suggest that you buy ASAP, because I am not sure how long these will be around. Try to find them locally - I'd bet you can't.
Great Stuff!.......2003-09-12
Simply put - this is great album! We love to sing "A Monster Goes Rrraagh" and "Hooray." In fact, "A Monster Goes Rraagh takes children'music to another level and we find ourselves singing different versions of "Hooray" quite often. The album has an awesome arrangement of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." "Wishin' Around" is a great poppy song. Lots of enjoyable humor througout. There were very high production values in the recording of this ablum. Good stuff. Check out the Scribble books too!
Kids Love Scribble Monster.......2003-01-05
My kids ask me to play this CD everyday! The energetic music gets the whole family dancing and jumping. Move over Barney, Elmo, & The Wiggles for ScribbleMonster & His Pals.
It's a big hit!.......2002-12-19
I downloaded the A Monster Goes Raagh song and my boys made me play it over and over again, so I bought the CD. They love it! Because the songs are simple and repetitive, my 2 year old can sing along. They love dancing and running around to this fun music. You really get to know the characters (Scribble Monster, Scribble Bunny, Scribble Kitty, etc.). 2 thumbs up!
Tons of fun!.......2002-04-05
I am a daycare provider for a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old. I just recently purchased this CD for the kids and they absolutely love it! They both sing and dance to the CD. Their dance steps on Dance Party are hilarious. The BEST OF FRIENDS disc really saved me this past week during Spring Break when their older brother was home from school, too. He's nine and it's hard to keep all three of them entertained at the same time, but this really worked. It's a lot of fun. Highly recommended.
