4 out of 5 stars Beats Antique - Great album!.......2007-07-23

This is a great album contemporary feel about it and uses traditional rhythmns and not so traditional to give a really well-rounded album, slow and fast and very listenable and danceable. Highly recommended!

Album Description

Created to meet the needs of more than 40 million sleep sufferers and light-eyars beyond lullabies, Bedtime Beats: The Secret To Sleep is the first classical music collection available as a true sleep remedy, an effective alternative to medication and sleepless nights. Carefully programmed in accordance with recent research from Case Western Reserve University--which discovered that classical and soft jazz music played at 60-80 beats per minute induces sound sleep.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Bedtime Beats: The Secret to Sleep.......2007-07-23

I love listening to soothing sounds to help me sleep at night. This CD is expecially relaxing to play when turning in at the end of the day. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be lulled off to peaceful slumber.

3 out of 5 stars Not exactly...........2007-05-14

This cd wasn't exactly what I was looking for, it does not really help you fall asleep. Some of the music can be annoying and it could have been more soothing.

2 out of 5 stars Not what I expected........2007-04-26

I should have paid attention to the two negative reviews. This CD doesn't put me to sleep at all--in fact, it keeps me awake. I find myself listening to the music instead of going to sleep.

One of the pieces has irritating and dissonant passages mingled with relaxing, soothing passages. Also the music changes tempo and volume quite often, which would wake me up if I did start to drift off.

Since I expected something that would put me to sleep, listening to this is upsetting, because I wasted my money.

However, since it works well for most reviewers, I figure I must hear things differently, or have a harder time falling asleep than most. Maybe if I listened to it enough to get used to it, it might work better.

I would like to find something totally soothing and relaxing--maybe I need actual recordings of water or rain, but I prefer music. Any suggestions?

5 out of 5 stars Excellent relaxing music and sleep aid.......2007-04-10

This CD collection is so effective that I still have not made it through the first CD to listen to the second one. It's very relaxing music and helps me fall asleep every night.

5 out of 5 stars nice try..........2007-02-06

but no silver bullet. FOR ME. Lovely selection of tunes, and I find them quite enjoyable and relaxing, but they just don't "knock me out". I own a variety of "sleep CD's" but real music seems to be just too stimulating when I am having trouble sleeping. I do better with guided imagery. Yesterday, though, I brought it over to my mom's place and laid down to listen to it with her, because she was so stressed out. She was asleep before the third number!

Very good music for dance music at a wedding. Especially if you want slow songs and the Classic 40's and 50's music. Great!!!

5 out of 5 stars classic.......2007-04-18

From the late great Luther Vandross to Etta James, this Cd has a Truly great Variety of classic wedding type songs. You can just about play it from beginning to end. Classics like "you're the best thing that's ever happened to me"is the perfect song for a couple that has been together for many years and is finally tying the knot!( ideal for an Anniversary song too! ) "At last" is a ditto and is perfect for the recessional..."Thru the fire" by Chaka Khan is a beautiful ode to the love of your life that says...U will have a partner thru thick and thin...another classic that must be mentioned is Anne murray's "could i have this dance"...mother/ son dance=this one is perfect for! Taylor Dayne's "I'll always love you" is as pretty of a song as i've ever heard aswell as "You are my Lady"...perfect for a first dance. "You're the inspiration" has been used for the father/daughter dance at several of my weddings ...Ok ...and of course it has Heatwave's "always and forever" on it too...a classic at any wedding. From top to bottom this Cd has Magic!

3 out of 5 stars OK love song CD.......2006-10-04

Bought this CD for ideas for songs in my wedding. I was a little disapointed that it didn't give me good ideas for my wedding. It had better songs on it just for classic love songs.

5 out of 5 stars Love songs - Wedding songs.......2006-02-26

Being a romantic person this is a great CD. Light the candles, serve with italian food, good red wine, with the CD playing and you will have a great combination. Even without the food this is a great CD to sing along to..at home or in the car. don't pass this one up!

3 out of 5 stars A Helpful CD.......2006-02-03

This CD is OK and I did like the fact that
"At Last" by Etta James is on it
I also was glad to finally find on amazon
"A Song For My Son" for the mother groom dance and
"A Song For My Daughter" for our father bride dance.
I heard samples of these songs at www.new-wedding-traditions.com

    Album Description

Waxing Deep Records is pleased to announce the first ever compilation of Cuban funk: Si, Para Usted: The Funky Beats of Revolutionary Cuba, Volume One. An unprecedented combination of socialism and artistic freedom flourished during the mid-years of Castro's Cuba, enabling musicians to create an innovative body of music based on traditional styles like those made famous by the Buena Vista Social Club. Si, Para Usted captures the spirit of this time. The music ranges from son, beat, jazz, and funk, and abounds with psychedelic influences, electronic experimentation, and a heavy dose of soul. Communist funk may seem unlikely, but here it is. Si, Para Usted was lovingly compiled by Dan Zacks of Waxing Deep Radio in response to massive listener demand for the Cuban music played on the show. Outside of the Waxing Deep archive, the bulk of funky Cuban music is virtually unobtainable. Cuban recordings were never widely distributed and few have been reissued. Utterly committed to sharing good music, Dan took it upon himself to make these fantastic tracks more widely accessible. Almost all of the tracks were re-mastered from the original tapes kept by the Cuban government in a dusty Havana warehouse. Given the poor quality of Cuban vinyl, this means the music on Si, Para Usted has a quality of sound previously unavailable. Quite simply, the music has never sounded this good.

Tribe's fourth album, Beats, Rhymes, and Life, should be the awkward one, the album on which the group, growing up, falters a little as it figures out what it's going to do next. It isn't. Marked by a number of changes, both internally (this is the album on which the Ummah production crew takes over, and it also marks Q-Tip's new religious faith) and externally (by 1996 Quest's jazzy approach to hip-hop had fallen out of popular favor), Beats finds Tribe taking it as it comes and handling all of the challenges with flair. It's a slower, steadier album than either People's Instinctive Travels or The Low End Theory, but that's a description, not a complaint; rather, it gives you plenty of time to enjoy jams like "1nce Again." It doesn't hurt that Q-Tip and Phife Dog are feeling the flow here; an inspired pairing with distinctive voices and different strengths, they trade verses with fluid grace. --Randy Silver

    Customer Reviews:

    4 out of 5 stars Underated.......2007-03-09

One of Tribe's best and also one of the most unheard of. Some of their greatest tracks except for the sellout "stressed out" - which inspired the industry to label them as anything but "real"

3 out of 5 stars The Fall off begins.......................2006-11-25

The addition of Q-Tip's cousin Consequence on BRL, threw me for a loop. It totally messed up the chemistry between Abstract and the 5 footer. This joint was just okay for me. Nothing like the 3 preceding classics.

4 out of 5 stars Great piece of History.......2006-06-12

A Tribe Called Quest's album "Beats, Rhymes and Life" is an overlooked album. The success of "The Low End Theory" and "Midnight Marauders" shadowed its greatness, for now, 10 years later, one can look at it and see what it was really trying to say. Much of the album complains about the East Coast vs. West Coast atmosphere of the time, urging their macho gangsta rap companions to stop the violence before things get out of hand. In September of that year, 2Pac was shot and killed in Vegas. Notorious BIG was killed next year in 1997. Nobody, apparently, was listening.

The Album marks the turn from the Low End/Midnight sound and towards what would eventually become The Love Movement. It demonstrates a perfect middle ground between the two sides and ends up better than most would expect. You wont find the greatest songs Tribe produced here, but there are some excellent tracks to be heard. Pick this up for your Tribe collection and take a glimpse into history.

    4 out of 5 stars A Tribe Called Quest - Beats, Rhymes & Life.......2006-04-03

A Tribe Called Quest's (Q-Tip, Phife, Ali Shaheed Muhammad) fourth album was "Beats, Rhymes & Life" (1996). Following the release of three albums I consider classics ATCQ dropped this solid fifteen-track release after a three-year hiatus. Jay Dee (R.I.P.) teamed up with Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhamammad for "The Ummah" and helped with production on this release. My favourite track on this one is "Stressed Out", ATCQ and Faith Evans collaborate for an outstanding track. Faith Evans really impressed me on this cut, her soulful singing is excellent. Backed by some sick production ATCQ shine on cuts like "Jam", "1nce Again" and "What Really Goes On". Overall their is a notable change in production (more hard, less upbeat) and lyrics, less Jazz oriented cuts (the type I love), and more serious lyrics in my opinion. I don't consider "Beats, Rhymes & Life" to be among ATCQ's best work, it does however have some memorable moments, and some impressive production, which makes it a keeper for any big ATCQ fan. A Tribe Called Quest 1988-1998.

5 out of 5 stars Tribe Called Quest - Beats Rhymes & Life.......2006-03-10

This is an ill TCQ album! This album has some pretty ill beats on, some laid back but some with some sick loops on it. The lyrics are of course, always ill, when arent they? This is real hiphop beats though, on the real and the lyrics. Some of the beats arent that great, im more of a wu-tang beat fan haha. But there nice. Nice rhymes, good production, overall a good album. Check this out!! Real hiphop fans!

5 out of 5 stars Best Anjunabeats I Have Heard.......2007-06-06

I got Vol 2 & 3 and I must say that this is the best one so far. It is utterly fantanstic. I got it because other people on Amazon recommended it and I got to admit, this is utterly the best Anjunabeats I have heard. Every track is good. It is not like Vol 2 where I was listening to Taurine, Kallocain, and Cre8 again and again without much regard for the rest of the album. Vol 4 is like one continuous good, wonderful, uplifting, beautiful, perfect piece of progressive trance. This is a true keeper. After 10 years, when I look back on the Summer of 2007, I know I will first remember this album, it is just that good.

I am ordering Anjunabeats, Vol 5 and the Worldwide Vol 1 immediately! Others are saying they are even better than Vol 4. If that is true, this is going to be the best Summer for Trance in a long time!!!!

Buy this! It is worth it! Just buy it already! I wake up at 4 am just to listen to this album 3 times before going to work! It is that good!!!!

    5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-05-07

It may not have a lot of vocals to it, but the beats are fricken awesome. I especially love that song "North Pole" track 8; I only wish it was longer.

5 out of 5 stars By far the best volume.......2007-04-02

This is by far the best volume of the Anjunabeats series. Not that the first three volumes are bad, on the contrary, they are great too. But Above & Beyond have definitely put together a great compilation here. Highly recommended!

Above and Beyond is an unknown beauty in trance. The fusion of euphoric melody, deep bass lines, and playful beats sets this talented duo apart from most other trance DJ's. Ajunabeats Vol. 4 is a tremendous addition to an already fantastic volume of music promoted by Above and Beyond, and truly sets the standard for innovative trance.

The music develops energetically throughout the set, slowly mounting into a fascinating soundscape; one that is full of elation and wonder. From its beginning to end you get lost in a reminiscent daydream, wondering if the next track will be as beautiful as the last. I was never disappointed.

I highly recommend this album, along with Above and Beyond's other releases, to people who listen for the emotional beauty of music. There is musical genius hidden in every track; and for that simple reason alone, it is quite an album to own.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Buy Trance Album!.......2006-12-06

By far the best of the Anjunabeats series. A&B bring a lot of great beats and energy to this album while keeping to their Trance roots. A great listen front to back for any Trance fan.

Public Enemy is not the kind of group that does compromise--either you own It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back and its explosive follow-up Fear of a Black Planet in their entirety or you simply hate music. So use this all-too-brief primer merely as a map to find your way to the albums that actually shook the world, mixing blunt politics with hard-hitting beats and Chuck D's prophet-like zeal for affecting change. If nothing else, tracks like "Bring The Noise" and "Fight The Power" serve as timely reminders of how much power hip-hop can wield when not tripped up in name-calling and bitch-slapping (D famously dubbed the genre "CNN for black people"), while on "911 is a Joke" Flava Flav proves there's a fine-line between laughter and tears. --Aidin Vaziri

5 out of 5 stars If you don't have this, you're your own enemy.......2007-07-20

Public Enemy had one of the more distinct and unique sounds of any major rap group from the late 80s/early 90s, both as to the music and Chuck D's raps. They were big into social and political commentary with Chuck D blasting away at injustice and other BS over often disonant and clangy music, which actually served well to mirror and underlie the chaotic situations described in the lyrics. Flavor Flave played well off of Chuck with his interjections, which added "flavor" to a number of tunes. Some reviewers dissed this a bit because it didn't have a certain particular tune that is their favorite and they just can't imagine it not being on a compilation. O.K., if you're that hardcore, buy all the individual albums. This CD is just a great overview of a rap group with one of the more unique urban sounds and insistent messages. Particularly worthy raps:

    Don't Believe the Hype
    Fight the Power
911 is a Joke [Flav shines here - reviews emergency services in the city]
I Can't Do Nuthin For You Man - another big role for Flav
Shut Em Down - heavy rap

3 out of 5 stars ok, wanted a little more variety.......2006-11-11

not bad, but i thought it'd have some of the other well-known hits on it as well. good for reminiscing about my youth!

5 out of 5 stars This is what got me into Public Enemy!.......2006-08-01

Without a doubt, hip-hop was in its prime during the late 80's and early 90's. Unfortunatly, I didn't even exist untill '91...I was born into the generation of cookie-cutter "gangsta" (c)rap like 50 cent and lil john...oh, how lucky am I...

Anyway, I had heard a few samples from p.e. on tv and the internet, and decided to look for one of their cds. They sounded so different than anything I've heard before. Chuck D's vocal energy and style grabs your attention right away, while Flava's crazy wierdness keeps you hooked. While looking through Wallmart's cd selection, I came across this cd and decided that a greatest hits cd would be a perfect introduction to a group I had never really listened to before.(It was only 10 bucks, so what harm could it be?) Lemme tell ya, after listening through the cd once, my jaw was dropped, and I was floored.

First off, for any fans of pop-rap with candy-coated beats, this cd is NOT for you. Public Enemy are raw, hard, and abrasive. They're definatly not for everyone.

Second, their lyrics are political, and confront many serious issues that were being ignored during that time. Pay close attention, and you'll see that they actually have something important to say and aren't just grunting about their cars, money, hoes, bling-bling, whatever.

Finally, while their music may sound somewhat cacaphony at times, they were definatly way ahead of their time. They have the rare ability to make seemingly clashing noises work together in an intriguing and almost harmoneous way. For example, "Rebel Without A Pause" uses a repetitive screeching tea kettle in the background, which would be ear-drum-breaking in any other circumstance. However, combined with the song's heavy bass and Chuck D's lyrical wit, the kettle becomes less of a nussance and more of an actual instrument that enhances the song's quality. (Yeah, that sounds really stupid, but I don't have any other way of describing it.)

So yeah, that's another one of my rambling reviews. I would recomend this cd to hip-hop fans who are open-minded and ready for beats that are rough and different from anything else. I've become a huge fan of p.e. because of this cd, and I plan to buy more of their work. That's all for now. PEACE

5 out of 5 stars PE Keep Bringin That Noise! [and sonnin' Viper].......2006-07-06

What else can be said about this release? The entire collection of singles (from their Def Jam period) from the most important and influential group ever. It doesnt get much better than this.

Public Enemy albums are consistent affairs with segues, inserts and instrumentals acting as the musical glue for each release. Some have therefore argued that listening to the singles in isolation is a less cohesive affair. I disagree. While Chuck D maintains that the group has never been singles orientated, their discography begs to differ: throughout the early 1990's, Public Enemy single releases were massive affairs accompanied by groundbreaking videos and fantastic cover art. Remember that "Fight the Power" only appeared on "Fear of a Black Planet" some several months after it "hit" - as did the B side release of "Rebel without A Pause" prior to "It Takes a Nation of Millions...".

This collection of singles reinforces their creative output, musicianship and legacy. The groups most commerciably accessible offerings are all here in their high-rotation-strong-unit-sales glory: the aforementioned "Fight The Power", "Hazy Shade of Criminal", "Shut Em Down", "911 Is A Joke" and the hugely popular "Give It Up", arguably the groups most successful single in terms of retail sales.

PE have crammed 18 cuts on to this release - but this just barely represents their release schedule. There are several cuts that have been released as singles and/or videos that are ommitted, including "Livin In A Zoo" (from the CB4 soundtrack), "Get off My Back", "Shake Your Booty", "I Stand Accused", "Louder Than A Bomb (Remix)", "Anti N*gga Machine/Burn Hollywood Burn" and the love-it-or-hate-it Anthrax thrash version of "Bring Tha Noize". A double disc edition with say, 28 tracks would have been nice - but then again, Def Jam/Universal dont want to cannibalise any trailing album sales the groups catalogue may still command!

Oh yeah, the reviewer "Viper" is the embodiment of the typical ignorant white American youth that PE originally set out to educate! Its unfortunate, but he of his ilk will never understand what true hip hop is or represents. "Hip hop" to Viper and most other Generation Y'ers constists of gun toting and talking about how much money you have and how many "biyatchs" youre doing. Grafitti? Breaking? DJ'ing? Beatboxing? Get outa here - that stuff's ancient, right Viper? Cats like Juvenile and Fitty Cent are the truth yeah!? heheheheh!!!!

Not all is lost though - I know plenty of young cats who take the time to check their history and educate themselves. Its just that people like Viper are already a lost cause - this album is the antithesis to his played out, thugged out BS so it will never get heard. But thats okay, cos dudes like me will never check for G Unit or Juvenile - so like PE's ratio of message:music, in the end there is some balance...

Def Jam finally did what was right and released a complete Public Enemy greatest hits compilation. If you are not familiar with PE, this compilation is a great opportunity for you to become acquainted with one of the greatest rap groups of all time.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Worldwide........2007-07-24

You know what you're getting with anything by Anjunabeats, consistent quality, great tracks and high production value. This first (in a hopefully to be continued) Worldwide Series features one CD mixed by Super 8 and Tab and one by Mark Pledger. More importantly look at what you're getting in the track listing and you'll see what you're getting: two great tracks by Above & Beyond, two great tracks by Daniel Kandi and commendable efforts by Maor Levi ("Reflect"), Andy Moor and Orkidea ("Year Zero"), Mark Pledger ("On the Edge"), Mike Shiver ("Morning Drive"), Nitrous Oxide ("Morning Light") and two stunners by Sunny Lax ("Blue Bird" and "M.I.R.A").
The mixing is pretty consistent in both CDs. What is the noticeable difference between the two? Disc one contains vocal numbers (especially male vocals), while CD two doesn't. However they work in their own ways.
CD 1 starts with two enjoyable electro influenced numbers (including another good Jaytech release) that, in my opinion, are upfront and energetic and get your ready the real sonic journey that takes place between tracks 3 and 8. "Year Zero" is another predictably good song with Andy Moor (and I've yet to hear anything bad by Mr. Moor)and Orkidea and it continues this nice vibe with two great songs by Super 8 and Tab with good male vocals, and very enjoyable number by Above and Beyond "World on Fire. It then explodes with Daniel Kandis smasher "Child" and then continues this energy with the rapid fire vocal on David West's "Make U Mine" and Super 8 and Tabs "Won't Sleep Tonight". Tracks 9-13 lose this great energy for some reason at the end (Disc 2 does this to) but not to worry the tracks are all great, especially Stephen J. Kroos's "Sadistick," Kyau and Albert's addictively catchy "Are You Fine" and a very nice closer in "Blue Bird."
On Disc 2 "Sex on the Beach" is an interesting song, but the disc doesn't really begin until track 2 with another great Daniel Kandi number "Nova" follower by another great Sunny Lax number "M.I.R.A", tracks 5 and 6 keep it moving but it isn't until the glory of Above and Beyond's "Tri-State" that the CD really gets back on track. "Tri-State" was the song I was really dying for a remix of and the finally released a mix CD with this one by Robert Nickson (another great mix of this is the Frase mix). Only problem is that Mark Pledger cut this song too short in my opinion. But all is forgotten when we reach Mark Pledger own contribution "On the Edge" and this continues into the beautiful "Morning Drive" by Mike Shiver and Nitrous Oxide's "Morning Light." However, again, by the end at track 11 this vibe is lost. Again the songs are good but they don't fit in well with the rest of the CD.
Bottom Line: If you are a fan of Anjunabeats in particular or good trance in general this is a CD you want in your collection. However if this is your first Anjunabeats album, don't get this. Instead get Above and Beyond's Anjunabeats 5 which is simply mindblowing. If you already have Anjunabeats and want another great mix by some up and coming DJs on the Anjunabeats label, then you've come to the right place. Get this.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent compilation for fans of Above & beyond........2007-02-02

This was an album i stumbled across, but bought it as soon as i saw it was from Anjunabeats. They are responsible for Above & Beyond, and in my opinion push new artists more than any other dance label. The main difference is the quality of every track they decide to put onto each album. There never seems to be any filler tracks, just quality dance tracks. If you like Above & Beyond, but have all their albums and are looking for something new along those lines, this double disc is perfect. Disc 2 is really amazing from a Dj you will definately hear more from. Mark Pledger.

4 out of 5 stars You can't go wrong with Anjunabeats!.......2007-01-28

I was just recently introduced to the Anjunabeats label and since then I have ordered Volume Three, Volume Four, and Tri-State in their first series, and now Volume One in their Worldwide series. IMHO this is one of the best labels in trance today, and as I said in the title line, you can't go wrong with these trance compilations.

If I were to rate the CDs individually, I would give CD1 4 stars and CD2 4 1/2 stars. CD1 started out with a house track followed by a techno track that didn't appeal to me. It did have some excellent standouts, namely "Year Zero" (by Andy Moor), "World On Fire" (by Above & Beyond), "Child" (by Daniel Kandi), "Won't Sleep Tonight" (by Super8 & Tab), and "Untitled Audio" (by Mike Koglin vs. P.O.S.), and a stunning closer in "Blue Bird" (by Sunny Lax).

CD2 was a notch better, with excellent high energy and melodic trance throughout most of the CD. The only tracks that really disappointed me were the last two, for they were quite "hard," and didn't fit in with the rest of the album. Tracks 1-4 were very good, followed by 2 mediocre numbers, and then starting with track 7 we are treated to a string of 6 tracks that defy description; they are soooo good. I just loved Robert Nickson's remix of Above & Beyond's "Tri-State" (it was much more energetic than the original mix). When the piano kicks in one is reminded of Robert Miles' immortal hit "Children." This track is followed by Mark Pledger's "On The Edge," a very refreshing number, and the energy continues to build with more "ear candy" on tracks 9-12. Again, it was too bad Mr. Pledger chose to end his excellent mix with 2 "hard" trancers that didn't jibe with the previous tracks, but I will forgive him because of the smile he brought to my face up to that point.

5 out of 5 stars Appropriate Album Title for a Terrific Album.......2007-04-16

When it comes to Tiffany (and several other 1980's singers) the problem is that fans, critics and people who aren't fans won't let the singer "grow up" so to speak. They label each new album the artist puts out after 1990 as a "comeback", but really, how many times can someone make a comeback? Well, Tiffany has done it at least three times, and "Dust off and Dance" is another great album by the former teen-queen, far superior to any of the present so-called teen-queens. It should be noted, that Tiffany's album prior to this one, "The Color of Silence" is another superpb album, but with an entire different feel to it.

"Dust off and Dance", is quite likely to be a reference to Tiffany herself dusting off the past (be it harsh reviewes, haters, or the mood of "The Color of Silence"), and quite literally just dancing. At least "Dust off and Dance" doesn't try to be anything more than a dance / disco / Hi NRG album - and a fantastic one at that. Production blends the best of modern day sounds with a bit of the 80's, combined with Tiffany's powerful voice and some great lyrics, most of which are written by her, resulting in an album that is easy to listen to over and over again.

The songs may not seem as deep on the surface as those from her previous album, but they all tell a story and do have important meanings to them, like enjoying life as it is so short. Some of the songs and lyrics are a bit suggestive, but the album was written, according to Tiffany, with her gay fans in mind. It's also appropriate for the dance floor (obviously). While the overall mood of the album is upbeat, there are a couple of ballads, but even they are upbeat. It's great to see that the album has been getting some play on the hit TV series "Ugly Betty". The biggest problem with the album though is that it is too short - only eleven songs, two of which are remixes. But hey, quality over quantity anyday.

Highlights: Be With U Tonite, Ride It, Na Na Na

3 out of 5 stars A good attempt to comeback.......2007-01-11

Not one of Tiffany's best work. This disco-ish CD is ok, not the Tiffany that we're all familiar with. It's nice to see she's still recording, but it doesn't measure up to her earlier work. Her last CD "Color of Silence" was excellent, the songs were great. Had more feeling in it. If you're a Tiffany fan like me, then add this to your collection.

2 out of 5 stars 2 and half - Not Quite What I've been Expected..........2007-01-10

Well, I have to say I only start to know and love Tiffany from her come back 6 years ago, with some amazing songs like "Open My Eyes" and the exceptionally heart melting "If Only". I have absolute no idea what sort of her music in the 90s or 80s and have no intention of exploring it since the pop music from those period is a bit odd for me. Since this album was rather new and the review said it relflects her best in the past, I decided to buy it. There are some songs that quite upbeat, with lots of catchy tunes but I still prefer her previous work. This album is a bit blend, lack of emotion and there are some songs just sound alike. It's unavoidable since Trance and House just got a limited sound effect to play around with in the arragement, I think you know what I mean. Anyway, if you looking for a feel good family or even birthday party, you can go with this one. But if you fond of flowing with emotion and smooth melodies, then the last album would be the best choice.

Kerala Dream is a very special album of space music, akin to that heard on NPR's "Music From the Hearts of Space". The last cut, "Samadhi", is especially fine and contemplative, with a subtle sitar creating soothing melodies and a calming mood. Some of the songs have flute and bass. This album has a variety of sounds, from environmental sounds from India, to vocals and sounds from the Amazon. This album goes especially well with yoga practice and exercises. This album is a exemplary blend of musical forms from India, environmenatal, and Western styles. I use this album to go to sleep to and I frequently do not remember the last cut since by then, I am fast asleep. Very relaxing album and I highly recommend it to yoga enthusiasts.

If you are looking for music with an Indian flavor, and a sure bet, look no further. This is great music for Yoga practice, or just relaxing. Sample Durga Shakti, and Guru Brahma and you 'll see what I mean. The sounds of Amazonian frogs and birds, the sitar, and awesome vocals make this CD unique, and just a pleasure to listen to.
