Gangsta rap classic minus Ice Cube.......2007-02-20
When Straight Outta Compton came out NWA put Compton on the hip hop map. The unflinching reality, the shock value rhymes prove to be a recipe for sucess for these guys. After selling 2 million copies, Ice Cube realizes that the group is getting jerked and he rightfully leaves. This album is the aftermath of that day. Standout Tracks: PRELUDE, REAL N****Z DONT DIE, N****Z4LIFE, APPETTITE FOR DESTRUCTION, ALWAYZ INTO SOMETHING, REAL N****Z, FINDUM F***EM AND FLEE, APPROACH TO DANGER(wicked rock and roll beat), THE DAYZ OF WAYBACK(I agree this song does leave a weird taste in your mouth but its still cool), 100 MILES AND RUNNIN and SAPRIZE PART 2. Note: The last two songs were included in my copy of the album. Filler: One Less B***h(going too far), Automobile(funny filler), She Swallowed It, Message To B.A.(uncalled for diss to Ice Cube) and Just Dont Bite It. Bottom Line: On the face of it, this is a great gangsta rap album but some of the songs might be a tad ignorant to most people. The Production was great and the rhymes that Mc Ren , Eazy-E(RIP) and Dr Dre gave you were hot. Its worth checking out for all lovers of gangsta rap.
underrated nightmarish rap album.......2006-05-18
Its true that while cube was gone alot of the social messages went with him.cube was the socio-political anchor of the group but he eventually would leave.so now Gone are the urban morality tales and "street knowledge" tracks of the previous album. The songs here are pure ghetto nightmares. The lyrics are haunting, ominous, and as raw as anything that could have been allowed on record shelves in 1991 or today for that matter.
its kinda like when all of the political leaders of the black panther party was either killed, went into a self imposed EXILE,or went to jail.and what was left of the party was the remnants militeristic part of the group "The BLA" (The Black liberation Army). So in essence CUBE was the Socio-political master mind, and when he left the only thing that was left was the urban Guerillas .and without the angry violent social-political commentary the group lost not only its edge but its intemidation factor aswell.face it they wasnt as much of a threat with out bitting social political undertone.
the first half of the album is just straight up gangsta warfare with no sense of purpose.just violent mindless nightmare tales of the inner city.the second half is just raunchy sex songs.
the album might not have a sense of purpopse but ULTIMATELY this is their most realized album as far a hitting their stride, and dr dres production was at its best on this album.
so the album does balance itself out,but it really depends on prefrence more so than wether or not this album is good or not
Still Runnin' Strong today.......2006-02-10
When Niggaz4life was released and I picked it up the day it was released, I was a bit dissapointed. Ice-Cube was no longer a member of the group, and I really thought that his presence was missed. As the years went on though, and I started listening to it more, I realized how ahead of the time it was. Maybe it was just a little to much to absorb when I first got it, (believe it or not, it actaully took me a while to get to enjoy Dre. Dre's "The Chronic" I think it was because hip-hop was getting so much more complex as the the 1990's rolled in, and gone was simple beats and rapping over a couple of simple samples. When I listen to this album today, it blows almost everything released today outta the water. Its a great CD, and even w/o Cube, its still really strong. Hip-Hop fans should add this one to their collection, to really have a feel for what Hip-Hop was like when it was getting a complete make over. This album is a classic and its not to be missed. Sure there are some poor songs on here, but I still give it a 5 star rating because the songs that are good, are THAT GOOD...ENJOY
Best Gangsta Rap CD of all time!!!.......2006-01-19
This is a must have CD for any rap enthusiast. It's gangsta rap at its purest; full of violence, misogyny, but also lots of humor, and pathos. Don't take it too seriously . . . the guys of NWA clearly loved women or they wouldn't have spent so energy trashing them. Pop this CD into your stereo, roll a fat one, kick back and enjoy the ride.
Eazy & his Loccs go crazy on this 1, Man! .......2006-01-07
"Efil4zaggin" was released in 1991. Without a strong radio single or video NWA's second full length CD which had followed a short EP (100 Miles and Runnin) quickly shot to the top of the charts. Gosh, this album is the early 90's gangsta rap era all over. When the songs were so profanity laced and sexually explicit you couldn't dream of hearing one of the songs on the radio (Alwayz Into Something) was released as a single and a video was shot but this song hardly drove the albums interest, the song Real Niggaz Don't Die is the Best song of N.W.A.'s, its Horrifying, Hard & Crazy! This is the song that has the similar base beat as Masta Ace's "Born to Roll", Appetite For Destruction is another Wicked track that has a tight yet Horrifying beat which is one of N.W.A.'s best, Alwayz Into Somethin' is another damn classic that has a tight pitch G-funk thanks to Dr. Dre & Cold 187um, the song also has some crazy Jamaican dude in it to! Just Don't Bite It is a sick-perverted song that is defiently done by Eazy-E, this should of been on one of Eazy's solos, becauce he's a true perv just listen to Nutz On Ya Chin or Gimme That Nutt! So what if that Punk Cube dropped out of N.W.A.? N.W.A. was improving their beats without him anyways, plus! That N.W.A. reunion crap Ice Cube, MC Ren, Dr. Dre & Snoop Doggy Dogg!? Oh, yeah.....where is DJ Yella's producing!? N.W.A. is nothing without Eazy-E, he is the God Father of Gangsta Rap, Dre was Eazy's sidekick & Cube was a punk ass hoe, forget about Dre & Cube, We Want Eazy! So Eazy-E R.I.P.!
My N.W.A. loccs best joints are *2, 3, 4(featuring Above The Law), *5, 6(featuring The D.O.C.), *7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13(featuring Above The Law), 14, 15(featuring CPO Boss Hogg), 16, 17, 18, 19, *20, 21(featuring The D.O.C.), 24(featuring Above The Law) & 25.

BEST RAP ALBUM EVER.......2007-06-18
BACK IN THE DAY - I WAS A RAPPER - CAUSE RAPP WAS BIG - RAP WAS REAL ! THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RAP TODAY - THIS IS `RAP` LIKE IT IS SUPOSED TO BE. THIS WAS GROUNDBREAKING. I STILL LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM TODAY (EVEN TAUGHT IM A 33 YEAR OLD ROCKER). NO ONE HAS DONE IT BETTER, THIS IS IT FOR ME. EASY E - DR DRE - ICU CUBE - MC REN - DJ YELLA..... THANK YOU
Dre was at his peak production wise, pre Chronic...................2007-01-14
NWA upped the violence and aggression for this 1991 classic. I remember me and my boys riding around drinking brew and being ready for whatever when this joint came out. Without Cube in the fold, they were out to prove that they did'nt need him. They succeed in proving that they could make it without him. MC Ren steps up to the plate and handles his business on key tracks like Prelude and Real N*ggaz Don't Die, and pretty much the rest of the album. Dre and Eazy deliver some of the best rhymes of their careers as well.
Top Joints:
Prelude (Ren disses so called hiphop purists - "N*ggaz rapping since the 70's and still never went Gold")
Real Niggaz Don't Die
Niggaz 4 Life
Protest (Funny)
Appetite For Destruction (Classic, nice bounce)
Alwayz Into Somethin'
Message To B.A. (They were cut his hair off, yall know the rest)
Real Niggaz
One Less Bitch (Hard)
Findum, F---um & Flee
Automobile (Eazy's country western parody)
She Swallowed It (Get it all baby)
I'd Rather F--- You (Eazy's interpretation of Bootsy Collin's classic)
Approach To Danger
The Dayz Of Wayback (That's my joint!)
Carl Johnson:"I'm not really inta rap no more-I'm more inta that hardcore gangsta s***!.......2006-06-13
Yep, I'm back....you shouldn't be surprised, I was just taking a break from writing, but now I'm back and better than ever! Anyways, this is NWAs' first album without Ice Cube, and because of that loss, their are no more political lyrics, instead we get a violent, nightmarish and, at times hilarious album. Buy it.
Actually 4.25 but they dont allow it.......2006-03-27
The album is Musicially amazing but the lyrics are alittle disturbing but once you lokk past it you'll see what a true piece of gangggsta rap is
Favorites: Alwayz into somethin and Prelude
CPT Gangsta rap to the fullest.......2005-11-26
The men from Compton are back with their first full length album since their classic "Straight Outta Compton", but N.W.A. is back this time with no Ice Cube. With 13 songs of straight street, dirty and vulgar music, you can tell why these were the guys that pioneered Gangsta Rap. Eazy E, Dr. Dre and MC Ren pull their weight without Cube, The lyrical one of the group, but it's not as good as when Cube was there. With 13 songs, 3 are classics, 1 is almost a classic, 4 are good, the rest are ok. Production is good for the time period, mid 1991 and is handled by Dr. Dre & Yella. If you know N.W.A. or any of the members, yo uknow to expect violent and dirty Vulgar lyrics tyhat's what they do and that's what the ymade famous and they don't slack off here. A nice albuim for their fans to have or for people who want to see where Gangsta rap came from.
