Pretty Good.......2006-07-29
This was a very unique item. Fans of the series will enjoy it. At times some of the tracks seem out of place when out of the game, but that's more than made up for by the many powerful and classic tracks that these CD's have. The first CD is more techno-inspired while the second is more operatic. It's good music to do push-ups to or to drive to. Especially the first track of the first CD.

Really bout 2 1/2.......2005-09-23
This cd was released years after it should have been. By then, his flow was out dated. If u listen to old TRU then this cd isnt for u. They should hav kept those old beats. The cd would hav made more sense.
Started what is now a legacy.......2004-01-08
Ive been down with NL ever since I heard the album 'TRU 2 Da Game.' Needless to say, after hearing one of the finest albums ever orchestrated I began my NL hunt. Big 'The Assassin' is by far one of the most underated and unspoken of albums ever released under the label. Its KLC produced beats master the art of rap and demonstrate why NL was on top from 96'-99.' If you wany my advice, pick this album up. It might be expensive now because its old and Big Ed passed away, but nonetheless it's worth every penny. Look out for tracks such as 'My Entourage,' 'Make Some Room' 'Rodeo.' It doesn't stop there. If youre a hardcore fan of the old NL, (96-99) then this is a must. KLC beats and P's hardware, this CD bangs no matter where you are.
If it aint in your trunk, it ain't crunk
A mediocre album from the late 90's No Limit.......2003-09-14
I purchased this album quite a while ago, at least 5 years. The cd is all right, but there's only a few songs worth listening to. That's just my opinion. Catchy beats can be found in here, like the track Rodeo. Big Ed, who has been a member of the 'Tank' for a long time now, contributes a very unique sound to the label. His voice is quite snappy, and cranky most of the time... Okay, on all of the tracks. But this can be good for some of the darker sounding songs like "My Entourage". I enjoy the album, but I'd really only suggest buying this to hardcore NL fans who are familiar with the old NL sound, or to those who have heard Big Ed before
big ed is still alive.......2003-08-29
He lives on through this cd.
SERIOUSLY IT IS A MUST HAVE FOR ALL THE
no limit souljas - i thought i told you.

really worth buying, "My Entourage", "Life", "I Miss 'Em" and "Make Some Room" are the highlights!
R.I.P. Edward Knight, I'll never forget you. TRU Soldier till the day that I die!

Album Description
Set amid the chaos of pre-revolutionary China, small time thief, Sing, aspires to be one of the sophisticated and ruthless Axe Gang whose underworld activities overshadow the city. Stumbling across a crowded apartment complex aptly known as "Pig Sty Alley," Sing attempts to extort money from one of the ordinary locals, but the neighbors are not what they appear. Sing's comical attempts at intimidation inadvertently attract the Axe Gang into the fray, setting off a chain of events that brings the two disparate worlds face-to-face.
The exotic original score by Raymond Wong is complemented by the film's classical pieces, notably Sarasate's acclaimed "Zigeunerweisen" and Khachaturian's famous "Sabre Dance."
Customer Reviews:
What about the dialogue?.......2006-04-08
I have a question about the dialogue on this CD... is it interspersed on separate tracks between songs, or do they talk during the songs?
Loved it!!!.......2005-10-21
As a Chinese, I love this soundtrack and the movie very much! There is no more I can say. However, it's a good soundtrack and I love it very much.
great CD, but incomplete..........2005-09-20
This is the soundtrack released to the U.S. Just so you know, the soundtrack sold in Asia features a few more songs. Most notably missing is a song preformed by Huang Sheng Yi, called "Zhi Yao Wei Ni Huo Yi Tian" which comes toward the end of the movie. It might be my favorite song in the movie, and it's too bad it's missing from the U.S. soundtrack.
Fantastic Soundtrack.......2005-08-20
If you have seen this unbelievable movie, then you know how incredible the music is. It matches the mood of the movie and everything the previous reviewer said I agree with. It has great sweeping scores with an extremely cool "oriental/chinese" sound and presence to it. I mostly bought it for a few cool songs I fell in love with when I saw the movie and the whole album is great. You will recognize a few of the songs used in a lot of other chop socky/martial arts movies and you'll really enjoy having them along with all the other great music on this soundtrack and it goes without saying, but if you haven't seen or bought this movie yet, get it. We need to encourage Stephen Chow and support him in his endeavors to make more great movies instead of the same old rehashed formulaic, cookie cutter, boring(need I go on?)"Hollywood Entertainment" fare.
There comes a time when you find a soundtrack that's..........2005-06-14
...Absolutely perfect!
As a collector of various movie soundtracks, there are many times when I am utterly dismayed by how unrelated they are to the movies they are supposed to complement.
The Kung Fu Hustle CD, however, is far from any of that! I watched this movie four times in the theater, and every time, the music just mesmerized me from start to finish! The movie was great, and the music was even better!
I quickly ordered the soundtrack from Amazon.com, and when it arrived, I was far from disappointed. This CD is fantastic! It does not leave anything out. What you hear in the movie is what you hear in the CD from beginning to end. The tracks are even in order of which they appear in the movie!
If you enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle, then the soundtrack is definitely for you. Go forth! Purchase the soundtrack, and prepare to be pleasantly entertained by the delightful music!

Product Description
In 1990 Grand Daddy I.U., the Barry White of Hip Hop, had cats shook with his dope yet underappreciated debut album "Smooth Assassin". NYC radio showed I.U. love rotating "Sugar Free", because the song had that modified-new-jack-swing sound that exploded between `89 and `92. After his brother, DJ Kay Cee, convinced him to make a demo, I.U. was signed to Cold Chillin' Records. I.U.'s association with the Juice Crew (Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Kool G Rap, Roxanne Shante, MC Shan, Masta Ace and Craig G) gave people an idea of his capablities. "Smooth Assassin" dropped and emerging NY rappers saw a glimpse into raps' future that placed clever rhymes ahead of showmanship and gaudy clothing. "Something New" is genius. In 1966 James and Bobby Purify hit number six on the pop charts with "I m Your Puppet". Thirty-four years later Cutmaster Cool V and Biz Markie freaked "Puppet" and a generation of b-boys and b-girls got down to a loop their parents sock-hopped to. Lyrically I.U. wrecked the competition with punchy lines that bounce on Markie's drum pattern and float over these classic piano keys. "Soul Touch" is NY scratch rap at its roots and its best. I.U.'s brother Kay Cee provided the cuts and probably found the chorus sample. I.U. is great on this track. Line after line he commands rap cliches before they could be called cliches. The man raps, "So let the soul be heard, `cause it s preferred and that's word to Big Bird", I.U. had this on record way before anyone else. "Smooth Assassin" was entirely produced by the legendary Biz Markie with help from his DJ Cutmaster Cool V, recorded at the infamous Power Play Studios in Queens and engineered by DJ Doc of B.D.P. fame. If you've ever wondered what I.U. stood for, well it's his real name. If you ever wondered when this rare yet classic album from the Cold Chillin' vaults would get the reissue it deserves, well, the time is now.

better than the original (possible spoilers).......2005-12-06
In the last decade or so, remaking classic movies has been on the incline. Though older generations criticize remaking these films, the newer generations are happy to see them with the latest theatrical technology. The remake I am going to be reviewing is called "The Manchurian Candidate". In my opinion, the remake is superior to the original. Though the acting was great in the original, I am more of a fan of Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep.
The synopsis of the movie is this: Captain Bennett Marco (Denzel Washington) and Sgt. Raymond Shaw (Liev Schreiber) were part of a platoon of soldiers kidnapped and brainwashed in Desert Storm. Ten years later, Shaw, a "war hero", runs for vice president while Marco, label paranoid by the government, eventually remembers being kidnapped and discovers that Shaw's mother (Meryl Streep) played a big part in the brainwashing. Bennett must now convince Shaw that the brainwashing really happened. Washington does a superb job as the hero; he isn't the flashy, perfect hero that we usually see in movies these days. Schreiber also does an excellent job in this movie as well. His character is the innocent victim. He is a good person but is under the control of his evil, power-hungry mother. Streep steals the show though. Her character is so manipulative and evil that is was just great to watch. The director, Jonathan Demme, does an excellent job guiding this movie along. The camera work that he utilizes really adds to the suspense of the film.
Overall, I think that any fan of suspense movies should go out to see this film. It is very creepy in the beginning and then gets better as you figure out what is going on. The actors all give an excellent performance and are lead by a great director.
"1962 plus the 2004 ~ Manchurian Candidate is a winner!".......2004-10-06
Varese Records presents two versions of "The Manchurian Candidate", both are excellent films with a great cast, directors and score that will leave you with something to think about.
The first "Manchurian Candidate" (1962/126 mins), Director John Frankenheimer featuring Frank Sinatra, Laurence Harvey, Janet Leigh, Angela Lansbury, James Gregory, John McGiver and Leslie Parrish in a cult favorite of Cold War Intelligence mixed with a political assassination attempt ~ Harvey's portrayal as a brainwashed soldier is believably effective, his stepfather James Gregory (Senator Iselin) as the not to bright politician is a scene stealer ~ Harvey's domineering Mother played by Angela Lansbury is an Academy Award performance, when she's on screen her evil schemes cut right through you ~ with composer David Amram throwing cues at you "QUEEN OF DIAMONDS", "SLIGHTLY MANCHURIAN BLUES" and "MESOPOTAMAN MAMBO...but my pick from this score is "THEME FROM THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, the jazz version is a sure-fire winner with over five minutes of great JAZZ!
Second score from "Manchurian Candidate" (2004/130 mins), Director Jonathan Demme featuring Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Liev Schrieber, Jon Voight and Kimberly Elise with an update of a classic thriller ~ Washington's facial and shifting eyes lends an intense factor to this remake, and it works ~ the score by Rachel Portman and Wyclef Jean with cues like "FORTUNATE SON" [instrumental], "MIND DRUGS", "DEEP IMPLANT BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION", "WHAT IF ALL THIS IS A DREAM?", "THERE ARE ALWAYS CASULATIES IN WAR" loaded with psychological-political themes and biting assassination spell-binding plots keeps you on the edge of your chair...presidential election mixed with mental illiness that Portman's score covers, as she crosses every "T" and dots all of the "I'z"...don't miss picking up this soundtrack...a must have for all "film-score-buffs" and collectors alike!

Customer Reviews:
perhaps one of the greatest albums ever.......2004-08-08
this record is 11 years old (released in '93) and still more sonically advanced than the bulk of current indie/experimental rock. With "Chief Assassin...", TMP demonstrated how dense a trio could sound: crushing, tom-heavy drumming; e-bowed guitar feedback; and legendary, bass-driven chord progressions. The lyrics are self-consciously cryptic, but nevertheless beautiful and memorable: "god is breathing fire, and the devil's inside..."
if you can find it, the version released by geffen in '95 contains three extra songs (minus vux intruder) which are stunning in their beauty -- it was also, I believe, remastered prior to release, so it sounds noticeably better.
No trends here. Just great down to earth music........2004-07-27
This was their second and moved in transition from their primative 3 piece of rhythm section and vocals to adding guitar as well as some other instruments from help of some friends(Goff from Crash Worship).
I've been watching this band for years growing up in SD and maybe I'm biased, but I don't believe so. 3MP are one of the few bands whose music is as timeless as any band can be because of one reason: originality.
They write music from their own taste, preferences, self-fulfillment, and not for trends or to rock out. 3MP are one of the hardest bands to catagorize because they don't associate or try to associate themselves with any particular genre or scene. And that also contributes to their timeless aspect.
This album is great because it moves into a direction of more guitar and does sound very primative and kinda has tribal aspects(content and soundwise). For a 2nd album that sounds drastically different than their first, it is a hit. Not many bands can progress on their second album as well as 3MP had. Side one is so amazing that sometimes you get stuck listening to Side on on rotation(I have the original record off Negative Records put out by Jason). Side two is ok, just not as good as side one IMO.
I really can't describe their music very well. Just real primitive rock with primitive content lyrically, but it is(like all their releases) very rhythm section oriented. They started out that way, and even though through the years they've added instruments to their sound, it never changed: rhythm section oriented. The bassist is the best I've seen come out of SD. The guy is amazing. It's not just his bass, but he also plays piano(ok electric), and the drummer fits the thunderous bass so well with his heavy pounding. Very dynamic rhythm section, has to rank right up there as one of my favorite rhythm sections. And Pall's singing was the other half of why 3MP was great. You hear the energy and the emotion in his voice. I didn't give it 5 because I thought the 1st side heavily dominated the 2nd.
3MP is not the band to namedrop unless you're more concerned with being original and different to impress your friends. And 3MP fans are normally not like that. 3MP has survived many trends in sd, everything from the RFTC greaser rockabilly scene and through the Gravity records scene(well they did put out one EP), but they never did try to fit in with those trends and because of this, everyone in SD that knows of 3MP has much respect because they have done something that most bands were not able to do: stick to their own thing. This is the reason why people have respect for 3 mile pilot. It has nothing to do with being cool and namedropping. Nothing is stylishly cool about 3MP. They earned the respect because they are one of the most talented 3-pieces to ever come out, they consistently progressed and changed for the better, and they never associated themselves with a certain scene or trend and have always stuck to their own roots. I have the most respect for this band and I have hope that they will get back together one day because Blackheart & Pinback don't come close to the quality of 3MP's music.
title of review.......2003-06-15
Three Mile Pilot is a pretty good name to drop, alongside Slint, Rodan, Juno, and Engine Down, if you're looking to exude the i-listen-to-intelligent-creative-indie-rock chic. Sure, they're certainly creative, and I do find their music mildly intriguing, but ultimatley unsatisfying. They're one of those bands where everyone who's heard of them has a ton of respect for them and you just can't say a bad word about them, and it's kinda ridiculous because they're really not that good, but whatever.
completely unique and intense.......2000-01-08
This album began 3mp's experimentation w/ more instrumentation. It marks the beginning of their ascent to the valhalla of music. this album is a must have if you are intelligent and religious about music; esp if you have a taste for dark beauty. subsequent releases have gotten better and better. they should have an album coming out in 2000 which I predict will be a masterpiece. i hope these freaks never quit making music. i gave this 4 stars just so i could save stars for the stuff theyve put out since.
Excellent and mezmorizing CD.......1999-12-09
This is one of the best bands i have ever heard. Three Mile is seriously underappreciated and its amazing that they haven't enjoyed more popular success but regardless they are incredible artists.

Customer Reviews:
Caiman doesn't have this title in stock!!!.......2007-01-18
This is a great CD from these speed metal kings. To all people who are looking to purchase this CD, I must tell you that Caiman does not have this in stock. I ordered it from them one month ago and still haven't received it. When I contacted them, they said it was on backorder and then the very next day, they relisted it. So, if you really want this CD, I wouldn't order it from them because you will never get it. Just a warning so as not to waste your time...
Speed-.trash.......2004-04-04
Good 80's german band that offers ripping guitars and hardore vocals. Awesome for those who like the second death-trash bands generation world wide.
Raw and Thrashing.......2000-08-23
I have number 460, and I just got it(so the numbering is whacked out). Good, raw, early sounding thrash, kinda like early Kreator. If your a thrasher, forget the retro bands and get the real thing-Assassain-'Bullets'!
German Thrash Attack.......2000-05-07
Forget Kreator or Metallica, Assassin will headbang the night away. If your an 80's metal-head like myself, there is nothing complex about this album. This album is a fun thrash, bang your head album here. This is Assassin's first 1986 album "The Upcoming Terror" and it headbangs all the way. The production on here is just great for a thrash album. Assassin was part of the German thrash metal movement with such other names as Kreator, Destruction and Sodom. But Assassin isn't complex. Basically anyone who likes thrash will love this album. Buy the way, this album is around for a limited time, right now they only have 3,000 and i have number 906. Get it now while they have re-released for a limited time.
