Two tracks I really like.......2007-07-21

The Mission Impossible theme is performed well.
The Fireball theme is actually much improved on this version. I prefer the orchestra and the vocals over the original.

Quantity Over Quality.......2007-01-15

As a musician myself, I know too well that one of the most important ingredients in ANY performance (live or recorded) is passion. The recordings here generally lack the same passion and sheer drama of the originals. Much of the instrumentation has been reduced to a cheezy, thin, plastic synthesized replica. The performances are simply a watered-down lackluster version of the classic originals. If it were not for the sheer volume of tracks compiled here, I would have rated the comp only "one star".

I have watched almost all the shows that are on these 4 cd's. Many were made before I started watching TV. Most I've seen once or twice before.

Definitely not as good as the originals. You'll probably notice the slight differences since it's stuff you saw and listened to every week or everyday in reruns growing up, but it's still an amazing collection.

Dry Run For The Geffen Years.......2006-12-09

DANGER ZONE, Sammy Hagar's last studio album on Capitol, is a dry run for the style that he'd perfect a year later on his Geffen debut, STANDING HAMPTON. Adding pop influences to his Ted-Nugent-meets-the-Outlaws sound, he comes up with such great songs as "Bad Reputation", but can still turn out a hot rocker on "Love Or Money." There's other good stuff here, too, even if this album does seem slightly transitional in nature. Hagar's advocacies of sanctions against Indonesia in retaliation for that country's trumped-up 2005 drug-smuggling conviction of a young Australian tourist and increased funding for law enforcement/community policing make DANGER ZONE an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.

Sammy Rocks!.......2005-09-13

This CD is a most awesome output from the Red Rocker. It demonstrates why a major band like Van Halen would not hesitate to add Sammy as a singer. It shows the versatility of Sammy's style, from hard rockin' tunes like "Love or Money" & "20th Century Man" to the classic sounds of "The Iceman" & "Danger Zone". A must for any Sammy collection!

Danger Zone, Sammy's 1980 release, was not only my introduction to Sammy Hagar, but remains my all time favorite.My favorite songs are In The Night ( Entering Thre Danger Zone ), Love Or Money and 20th Century Man.The Production Quality of In The Night... is incredible! Especially for 1980's standards.This song remains my all time favorite Hagar song. I also have enjoyed many single Hagar hit's since 1980 but for an album as a whole this is my favorite.I would also like to recommend his first two albums as a member of Van Halen.5150 and OU812. EXCELLENT! Enjoy.

An underrated album.......2001-01-04

"Danger Zone" is S. Hagar's 1980 release and in my opinion much underrated. The album has great moments, for example "In The Night" where S. Hagar's strenghts as songwriter and guitarist really showed themselves. "Love Or Money" and "20th Century Man" are straight rockers. "Run For Your Life" is for me the best ballad he has ever written. "Miles From Boredom" and "Bad Reputation" are very melodic guitar pop music. "The Iceman" is funny and has a very optmistic feeling. If you like S. Hagar then you'll love this album. If it's your first S. Hagar album, then start with his 1981 album "Standing Hampton".

Another One Way 2 LP on 1 CD release. In 1977, Player released their debut album which had the number 1 hit 'Baby Come Back' as well as the top 10 hit 'This Time I'm In It For Love'. Danger Zone came out in 1978 and had the hits 'Prisoner Of Love' and 'Danger Zone'.

More Than A One Hit Wonder!.......2007-06-20

Even though I own several, Various Artists, compilations: I don't care much for them and this band right here is another prime example why. Their well known late 70s chart smash, Baby Come Back, is on one of my ,Various Artists, Disc's and that's it. Nothing else by this Band can be found on any of my ,Various Artists, Disc's and, Player, offered so much more to it's fans than just that one song and this CD proves it.There are about six songs here that I like better than, Baby Come Back. This Band was so talented and so underrated and as of the date of this Review; there wasn't even a Spotlight Review for this CD. Besides, Baby Come Back, I did remember three other Songs here on my first listen but my biggest surprise were tunes I had never heard before. This (Two LP's On One CD) is solid from start to finish.....Outstanding! I was going to purchase their, Best Of Player, CD here at Amazon and right at the last second I decided to purchase this one and I am glad I did because only a few of these songs are on the, Best Of, CD. People have different tastes in music but to me this is great.
Final Note: If you are concerned about the sound quality on this CD: don't be; because it is great too.

How do I begin?.......2002-05-05

One Way records has done it again! A must buy/have. This is a fun CD. The manner in which the music was written and played instrumentally will bring smiles to your face. This CD touts the original songs in their original 1977 & 1978 sequence which is always good!

Additionally this CD has two album/compilations "Player" and "Danger Zone".

If you are looking for memories as to a very different yet marvelous time in music this is it. From the hit, "Baby Come Back" to "Melanie"--the tunes are all gloriously here. (Note: Sadly, Player must have forseen their own demise with the great tunes "Cancellation" and "Tryin' to Write A Hit Song").

The price is outstanding for the two-fer offering here. Grab it up before it goes out-of-print.

It's About Time!.......2001-09-08

One of the greatest and most overlooked bands of the late 70's/early 80's! Player is pure west-coast pop/rock! Much in the vein of Hall and Oates, but with a little more of a rock edge! Peter Beckett has a fantastic vocal range which is pure listenig pleasure. Baby come back is a classic rock #1 billboard charting music staple! But, for the real fan's like myself it's the obsure album tracks that are my favorite such as:Love In The Danger Zone,Prisoner Of Your Love,Movin'Up,and Cancellation to name a few.If you love fantastic up beat pure 80's rock you'll want this fantastic c.d. in your collection! It's my favorite c.d. and I have alot of them!

Living in the Danger Zone.......2003-07-16

I've loved the blues since high school and I can say that Son Seals is one of the most original, kick-bum blues artists I've heard yet. This album is worth every penny. I've been looking for it in stores, but it's hard to find. A good mix of urban blues, ballads, humor and Son's signature guitar.

Great Music and Clever Lyrics!.......2002-08-16

Son Seals 1991 Alligator release "Living In The Danger Zone" is arguably one of Seal's finest studio releases to date. His best live performances being "Live and Burning" and "Spontaneous Combustion". Like the live disc's, Danger Zone features and abundance of gritty vocals and piercing guitar solo's in the style of Albert King. The songs on the disc range from the humorous "Frigidaire Woman" to the slow blues number "Danger Zone" to the funky "Bad Axe" to a ballad like "My Life". Seal's is a natural for the blues. He was born in Osceola Arkansas and, as a child, spent much of his time in his dad's juke joint surrounded by the likes of Albert King, Sonny Boy Williamson and Robert Nighthawk. About four years after recording this CD his wife shot him in the face. He would survive that trauma only to later have his leg amputated due to complications from diabetes. As the saying goes, you got to live the blues to play the blues.

I did not have the first album on this CD, but I used to have "touch of sin". This album is remarkable and it was made by good musicians. On this album besides Matt Sinner, the guitar player was Frank Hermann who previously worked with Accept and Victory. Outstanding songs, such as Emerald, Bad Girl, Storm Brooke Lose, Out of Control... are a good guarantee for enjoyable CD. Higly recommended to any Heavy Metal fan!!!

great cd, old school philly rap group. i grew up listening to tuff crew and this is there best album. classics like "my part of town" make this a must have cd for any old school rap fan. i recomend this cd to anyone that has not heard tuff crew.

True Hip-Hop.......2004-09-10

"Danger Zone" was Tuff Crew's first solo effort . They had previously made an album with the Krown Rulers titled "Phamjam" back in the early 1980s. With this album the listener definitely sees the progression of the Tuff Crew Band.

"Danger Zone" is a very good album; although, for the most part the beats and rhymes are dated. The one exception to this rule is the song "Open Field Attack." It stands the test of time and, in my opinion, is one of the best rap tracks ever (the reason I am giving the album 5 stars). The Overlord Ice Dog is given a chance to go solo, and truly flexes his muscle on this track.

One of the best things about Tuff Crew was clearly their DJ. DJ 2Tuff was amazing, especially for the time period. Although he does an excellent job on "Danger Zone," he obviously didn't sleep on his talent when they made "Back to Wreck Shop."

I would highly recommend this album for the fan of true Hip-Hop music.

Danger Zone was my favorite growing up. I could no longer find it on the west coast. Years went by before I finally found it on Amazon. This c.d. dominated it's era. Many people won't appreciate Tuff Crew. But for those who love hip hop back when it was raw, buy this c.d. D.J. Too Tuff cuts this album up on the wheels. "Open Field Attack" is one of my favorites. The bass line in "Smooth Momentum" is one of the many things that put this album on top. Tuff Crew was ahead of their time.

As soon as Ice Dog lets it rip with "Seen 'em come, seen 'em go" you know that Tuff Crew are back on this, their second release. Danger Zone highlights their skills before the days of internal fighting and poor sales tore them apart. Tone Love, Ice Dog and L.A. Kid deliver Philly Hip-Hop at its best with tracks like "My Part of Town" and "It's Mad". Finally "Danger Zone" has been released on CD format and it is a must in any discerning fan's collection. To this day, I am yet to hear a better track than "Bound to Ike" with Too Tuff on the wheels and the three emcees delivering their rhymes. Highly recommended for the fan looking to fill the gaps with late 80's classics.

Album Description

Billy Price's first post-Keystone Rhythm Band CD, Danger Zone is Price's tribute to the pre-rock 'n roll rhythm and blues sounds of the late 1940s and early 1950s. This CD features interpretations of songs originally recorded by artists such as Bobby Bland, Charles Brown, Big Joe Turner, and Little Willie John, performed by the cream of Pittsburgh's jazz/blues musicians, including Max Leake (piano), H.B. Bennett (drums), Nick Dialoiso (tenor sax), and Ralph Guzzi (trumpet). Danger Zone also includes three songs written by Percy Mayfield, sometimes known as "The Poet of the Blues."
