Who would have thought back in the Hot Boys' early days that it'd be Lil Wayne who not simply survived his older peers like Juvenile, but ended up thriving by the time he reached Tha Carter, vol. 2, Weezy's fourth album. He sounds more confident as an MC--but more importantly, he wields a genuinely impressive array of different styles (as opposed to countless one-note rappers), from the chattering, thuggish "Fireman" and the languid style of "Oh No" to the emotional, introspective "Feel Me." In some ways, he actually bears a resemblance to rap's other major "Carter" (Jay-Z), not just in his increasingly effortless flow but in his assertiveness as a leader. In other words, he's matured in all the right ways as an artist. His album is still longer than it needs to be--22 tracks, 77 minutes--but even the filler is listenable while the best songs, like "Receipt," "Shooter," and "Hustler Musik" help establish this as one of 2005's last great albums. --Oliver Wang

4 out of 5 stars LIL WAYNE IS A BEAST!!!!!!!!.......2007-03-15

I HONESTLY DIDNT LIKE LIL WAYNE BEFORE THIS ALBUM, BUT THIS ALBUM HE PROVES THAT HE CAN SPIT. HIS LYRICS HAVE DEFINITELY IMPROVED A WHOLE BUNCH SINCE HIS EARLIER YEARS WITH CA$H MONEY. EVERYTHING ABOUT THE ALBUM MAKES IT A HOTT ALBUM. THE BEATS, FLOWS, CONCEPTS, AND LYRICS. NOW LIL WAYNE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MC'S NOT JUST CUZ OF THIS ALBUM, BUT ALSO CUZ OF HIS LATEST MIXTAPES.

4 out of 5 stars Weezy finally comes correct.......2007-03-02

Although he was only 23 when this was released, Lil wayne has been puttin out album for 8 or 9 years, so his isn't a rookie. I honestly can say I've enver been impressed by what he has put out other than a song here and there, but after a bunch of good reviews and people tellin' me I had to check this out, I finally gave in, and I am very surprised. Claimin to be the best rapper alive (far from it but this album puts him heading in the right direction). I don't have many Cash Money albums (about 4), but this is a very ice album. With 19 songs, more than half are definitely worth checking out (#'s 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 22). Guests are minimal on 3 or 4 songs, and the production is good (that has been a constant with Cash Money releases thanx mostly to Manny Fresh). A must have album and one that shouldn't be slept on.

1 out of 5 stars AAAAAAHHHH!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!.......2007-02-16

NOTE: I am 16, I just don't want my own username.

Ladies and gentleman, what is the big deal about these untalented posers? It's like the record companies aren't even trying to hire talent - they just hire whoever so that more innocent folks will go to that same record company and get a record deal.

But it's not just that - EVERY black kid at my school (NOTE: I am not racist) praises this guy, and that's why I singled him out. It's not just him, people also go gaa-gaa over other untalented drivel like Bow Wow, Chris Brown (the most overrated "musician" of the 20th century), and T.I. Whenever a black person at my school doesn't listen to what's popular, they are listening to - you guessed it - this guy.

Honestly, what is so great about him. In order to be considered a good rapper, IMO, you must have good, intelligent lyrics and an excellent flow (Some examples are Chuck D and Del tha Funkee Homosapien). Wayne here has neither. I know what you're thinking: "But he freestyles!" Well, you want to know how "good" of a freestyler he is? Take this verse from "Fireman":

"Come on mama let the Carter make ya, toss you like a fruit salad, strawberry grape ya".

What kind of verse is that?! I could come up with something better in my sleep. In fact, check this out:

I walk through the valley of the ashes
the area where death and car crashes
Run abundant, I'm so pungent
All the girls like me, but despite the
Pain that I suffer, I got my luster
So I can shine and be divine
In a world of pain, a world of sorrow
There can be no tomorrow.

I came up with that in just 5 minutes. See how easy it is to rap? Now I'm gonna go take this rap and get my OWN record deal. Later... MUCH!!!!

5 out of 5 stars The milestone of lil wayne's career.......2007-07-14

When lil wayne first came out with the block is hot, most of the south was feeling him including me. Lil wayne been in the game for a while now. He just gotten better with time and is now one of the best rapper's in the south. Ain't taking nothing away from TI though. He was serious with this cd, even though the entire CD is freestyled. He still came hard with the punchlines and the metaphors. Some tight cuts on this cd include the intro; which is probably one of the hardest intro's ive heard anyone spit, go dj; good single, this is the carter, bm jr; the hardest song on this cd, i miss my dawgs; a song telling us how he feel about the former hot boys, only way, bring it back, ain't that a __, earthquake; which uses a good sample, and cash money millionaires. If you want some straight louisiana music, then cop this cd. Lilweezyana, that's the new planet. Peace!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars NEW ORLEANS!!!.......2007-03-15

Lil Wayne's lyrical skills are not what I thought they would be. Being from the south, particularly New Orleans, Louisiana, I thought he wouldn't be any better than Birdman or Soulja Slim...but he is! In fact, he's better.

This album has few flaws, and is definitely worth purchasing. There are 3 hit singles off the album including "Go D.J.", produced by Mannie Fresh. In fact, basically the whole album is produced by Mannie Fresh but on the cover it says it's executively produced by Birdman and his brother, I think (they both have the same last name).

But anyway, Lil Wayne is definitely not what I expected...his lyrical skills parallel those of Ludacris! He is definitely not the best rapper alive, but sure is the best in New Orleans. That I think.

4 out of 5 stars His best album next to Lights Out.......2006-11-01

Standout tracks:THIS IS THE CARTER, B.M.JR(the hardest song on here), I MISS MY DAWGS(dope even though you and I know that he is full of s***), ON MY OWN, BRING IT BACK, WHO WANNA, SNITCH, EARTHQUAKE, AINT THAT A B***H, WE DONT etc. Filler: Go dj(crappy beat sleep inducing lyrics), Cash money millionaires, Get down(SNORE!), Hoes(Screams filler) and Only way. Bottom Line: Lil wayne's fourth album stands out as his best album next to his second solid work Light Out. What makes this album better than The carter2 is that the production is (for most of the songs) is not bad and he doesnt sound like an up north emcee clone. He is just being himself on this one.

4 out of 5 stars LiL Wayne has been my baby since the Hot Boys!.......2006-10-18

This cd is hot I have always been down with lil wayne and because of me my boyfriend is all on his D**K and took over my cd's. The intro and the outro are outstanding I don't think I ever heard lil wayne like this but I'm liking this a little more than my boyfriend lil wayne if I ever meet you in person it's on and poppin. But I know that will never happen! On the real cop this one it's not a disappointment but don't forget the carter.

5 out of 5 stars Lil Wayne - Tha Carter.......2006-09-10

After releasing his last album, "Lights Out" in 2002, Lil Wayne took a year off the solo scene by releasing another Hot Boys album, "Let Em Burn." Even though most of the album was recorded in the past years, that album sadly will probably be the last the group will ever release. Anyway Lil Wayne comes back on the scene in 2004 with his 4th solo album, "Tha Carter."

Lil Wayne FIRES back so hard with this album. After his 3 previous records, this one is definitely the best so far! I don't know what he changed in his style but he definitely evolved into an amazing talent with this release. DEFINITELY check this out, it's an incredible album!

Despite their similarities, the Cash Money Clique's challenge to Master P's No Limit empire is well founded. Even the Clique's most mundane celebrations of sex, wheels, alcohol, and dollars benefit from sharper, more imaginative production--not to mention occasional flashes of humor. Tha Block Is Hot, which serves as much as a posse showcase as a Lil Wayne statement, is entertaining even when it's just serviceable. Gangsta clichés aside, the disc is marked by a sense of fun strong enough that you may not even roll your eyes at its claim that Cash Money plans to stick around for the year 3000. Let's hope for their sake that they don't base their investment plans on such predictions. --Rickey Wright

2 out of 5 stars Tha Block Is Hot but Lil Wayne is not.......2007-07-09

Come on now. You know Lil Wayne's flow evolved and started to sound a lot better with his second release, Lights Out. This album is when he still had that weebledy wobbledy flow he use to have(you know that's exactly how he use to rap. Dont act!). The album's only good tracks are Tha Block Is Hot, Kisha, F*** Tha World, Lights Off and You Want War. Hot garbage like Loud Pipes, Respect Us, Drop It Like It's Hot(his cheesy version of Juvenile's Back That Azz Up), High Beamin and Enemy Turf should have been left in the studio trash can where they belong. The rest of this album is so bad I wont discuss it. Bottom Line: Lil Wayne's Tha Block Is Hot is the worst Cash Money release of 1999. Lil Wayne's flow wasnt the only problem of the album, Mannie Fresh's beats were terrible and the guest appearances didnt help matters either. If you want Wayne at his best start with Lights Out and work your way up to Carter 2. This album was buttpuke. I was in high school when it came out, and I can recall people who were not used to giving away anything for free was going this album away free! That should tell you something.

5 out of 5 stars RELIGIOUS!.......2007-06-15

I saw the face of G-d listening to this album. Lil' Wayne is a young Mark Twain. He is James Joyce and Jean-Paul Sartre rolled into one enlightening package. This is required listening for any youth or teen trying to understand the plight and authenticity of urban life. I quit my job yesterday and told me boss that my new occupation was to be "a soldier in Professor Lil' Wayne's Army." He's a brother. He's a role model. He's a saint.

4 out of 5 stars Lil Wayne - Tha Block is Hot.......2006-09-06

After Cash Money Records bursted out into the music industry, it introduced famous rappers such as Juvenile, B.G., Big Tymers (Mannie Fresh & Baby) and The Hot Boys into the game. As a member of the Hot boys, along with Juvenile, B.G. and Turk, Lil Wayne was the youngest rapper signed to their label. Only in his late teenage years, Wayne is out to prove just how dominate he is in the game with the release of his debut album, "Tha Block is Hot."

Wayne's debut is impressive considering how talented he is at his young age but there's not many rememorable tracks on here. There is no overall wack joints either, just nothing groundbreaking. Pick it up if your a fan of Lil Wayne, Cash Money Records or The Hot Boys.

3 out of 5 stars Don't Be Fooled by Imitations: This is the ORIGINAL Synthetic Unity of Apperception........2006-04-30

Lil Wang is de bomme. His debut album, Cloaca Maxima, criticised the structuralist presumption that language could be described as a static set of rules, and with his tight beats and cool rap he be representing how those rules admitted of contingency and were dependent on a temporality that could undermine their efficacy. And when he got jacked, he slammed Ja Rule's philosophical positions that uncritically subscribed to 'totality' or 'systematicity' as values without first considering the alternatives that were ruled out by that pre-emptive valorisation. In his second album, Intercrural Emission, he dropped all dem Lacanian fools with his glock and insisted that the act of reading extends from literary texts to films, to works of art, to popular culture, to political scenarios, and to philosophy itself. This notion of 'reading' insists that our ability to understand relies on our capacity to interpret signs. In this, his latest album, however, he presupposes that signs come to signify in ways that no particular author or speaker can constrain in advance through intention. This does not mean that language always confounds our intentions, but only that our intentions do not fully govern everything we end up meaning by what we say and write. And THAT, my nigz, is why Lil Wang be the Numero Uno Baddest-@ssed Muthaf*cka of All. It's called overcompensation, muthaf*ckaz. Deal widdit!

5 out of 5 stars Tight debut by Lil Wayne.......2006-02-12

Lil' Wayne really blew up the last couple of years (2004-2005 and now), and he is currently one of the biggest names in the South. He is one of the youngest stars in the game (he's about 21 or 22), but the boy is a VET! He started rapping on Cash Money Records' albums when he was 14 years old!... Anyway, after a couple of impressive Hot Boys albums, and many guest appearences, in 1999 Lil' Wayne finally released his 1st solo album. He was 16 years old at that time. You're reading correctly: 16 years old. While his youth is clear on the album (he's much more mature, saphisticated and experienced these days), his talents couldn't be denied even when he was 16, on this debut album. Lil' Wayne's delivery has always been one of the most unique in the industry, and his cocky lyrics were intresting to hear even when he was a young teenager. Weezy loves adding all kinds of sounds and voices to his verses, and he also adds adlibs to each songs... The album is not all about flossin' (like so many people think): most of it is straight gangsta sh**, street stories... Only one song is about sex (Kisha, which is one of the best songs on the album) and one is strictly about flossin' (Loud Pipes - another great song). Since Lil' Wayne was young and unexperienced (in handling a whole album by himself) he gets a lot of help from his labelmates (who usually outshine him, except when it's Baby rapping), and they all do a great job- especially Juvenile, who once againg proves he was the star of stars on that talent-packed label. Mannie Fresh's production on the album is untouchable as always. He got creative as time passed by. He's untouchable on those drum machines and keyboards: that Cash Money sound is so rich, so different than anything else that came (and still comes) out from the South. Even on songs, where Lil' Wayne's verses get a bit weak, the awesome beats save the track! "Tha Block is Hot" is just a hot album (pun intended), and for a debut by a 16 years old rapper, it's just awesome. Take for example Lil' Bow Wow - at this age his albums were straight childish and dumb, while Lil' Wayne's album is about the streets, about life, about things Lil' Wayne went through or saw on the streets of the NO ghetto. This one is a must have. You should get all of Lil' Wayne's albums in order to witness the progress he's made since his early teen days till now. Because Tha Block is Hot shows signs of greatness, and it's one of the tightest albums released by Cash Money Records.

3 out of 5 stars Luda & DTP.......2007-01-19

I originally bought the CD only for one song and the rest of the songs were ok. This was my first time buying one from DTP and I was a little disappointed. It was ok.

4 out of 5 stars Ausar007.......2006-12-31

This album was surprising, i like everything on the album especially DTP and their Voice. It was deep and grabbing, and to me it made me feel like going back to Georgia with Ray Charles original song "Georgia". The Rhymes and style of luda remind me of Pac. The title "2 miles an hour" is hit!!!, what a saying!!! "going two miles an hour so everybody could see me". And of course i had to add mines in by saying going two miles an hour on my scooter. I can't forget "Put your hands up", It's smash at the Nightclubs and with the ladies. My expectations before buying this album was Some cool skits even though there was only one skit by ludacris it's still one of my favorite albums.

3 out of 5 stars Fianlly... Field Mob gets their shine.......2006-07-04

As far as the album goes it's good it can use some tweaks, but it's a step in the right direction what i do find extremely pleasurable is the fact that Field Mob finally get their shine they did they thing and finally got the recognizition they deserve this has been one of best duos to never get the fruits of their labor what make it bad is you've probably heard them before and never realized it now that they have an audience they bout to BLOW!!!!! You listen to them and it's like the oldies on a Sunday afternoon anyway i've digressed just wanted to say I am excited to learn that now Field Mob will get an opportunity that they earned.....To get they swagger on.

2 out of 5 stars What happned Luda?.......2006-06-08

I liked his first couple of albums, they were funny, creative, and displayed luda's real talent. While this CD has luda on it, it has more of the other performers, and none of them are even near luda in terms of talent. Luda is pretty funny on this album, but it seems that his last couple of cds have been getting worse and worse. If you really like ludacris, then get "Word of Mouf" or "Back for the First Time". If you absolutely love those albums, then get this one and his other two. If you just find them decent, then stop right there.

5 out of 5 stars What An Album!!! Ludacris and DTP are the best!!!.......2006-04-22

I got one word... amazing. I'm a die hard fan of Ludacris. He is the real King of the Dirty South. His crazy flow and witty rhymes have no match, if you have gotten all of his CDs, you know what I'm talking about, he's unstoppable. You can't deny it. This album was one of the best for DTP. Better than the last one. Luda reps the dirty dirty and gives an awesome performance and so does the whole DTP Roster. These are some of the songs that stood out to me:

- "Georgia" - Classic, Ludacris, Field Mob and Jamm. did an awesome jod. They all flow amazingly

- "Put Yo Hands Up" - Upcoming group Norcflk is doing it big with this track.

- "Gettin Some" - Shawnna goes crazy. Beautiful

- "Thats My S***" - I like to call this one the lyrical bomb. Nothing but fast, clever rhymes from the roster.

- "Come and See Me" - Smoke and Stat Quoe flow really well here

- "Break A Ni*ga Off" - Lil' Fate gets his, with the help of Rich Boy and Gangsta Boo

..... I could keep going.. you know that right. All of the tracks are incredible. Get the CD. DTP 4 Life!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Very Very good coming from Watts.......2006-07-17

From owning and Listening to both the regular and the chopped and screwed version, I can cleary say that the chopped and screwed version is very good but not as good as the other albums that watts has chopped. However the carter 2 C&S is way better than the Carter 1 C&S which was also done by watts.

The album has it good songs that are, clear and understandable. (Fly in, Best Rapper Alive, Shooter, Hustler Musik, Grown Man). Most of the endings to the songs are blended to the beginning to the next song to allow smooth transition for the next track.
Husler Musik is my Favorite chopped track on the album.

Since the songs are already Slowed(Screwed) They allow the listner to understand what Weezy is saying better than the regular version would allow.

Watts Chopping style seems to be more of chopping certain words in the lyrics to allow more impact to the words, instead of just chopping every syllable like most amateur dj's do

There are some problems with album as well, I know Track# 8 ("Mo Fire") Could have been chopped alot better. It doesn't sound bad but the choppin in this song is kinda akward. Like it wasn't chopped in the right places. Track#9 (Weezy Baby feat. Nikki) sounds great...The only problem is it's way to short! It's only 1:25! Why did it have to be cut so short? Track#12 (Watts Scratch) Is watts showing of his scratchin' skills before Track#13 (Receipt) It's not bad either but to some listners (not including me) it might slow the pace to the next song. Last, Track# 20 (Fly Out)fades out (no pun intended) very early, almost in the middle of the song making it only 2:11 long.

All these things aside, tha Carter 2 C&S is very good if you are into chopped and screwed music. But if you're not then stick with the Excellent Regular version.

lastly to all the people who don't like Chopped and screwed music. If you hate "Chopped and Screwed"... Then why are you buying/listening to it? Why are you complaining about it on Amazon if you hate it? It does not make any sense to get something that you already know you're going to dislike.

5 out of 5 stars Double the Pleasure.......2006-05-18

I've been listening to Houston underground since 1996, and SwishaHouse has always held it down since the late great Screw!!
The best rapper alive....definetly! And to make it even clearer, Watts slowed it down to make you hear and pay attention to his words. If you don't know anything about the screwed and chopped movement....don't buy the album!

1 out of 5 stars A perfect way to butcher a good album.......2006-05-11

Chopped and Screwed is by far the worst butchering of good albums I've ever heard. It figures that Michael Watts would be affiliated with that wack Swishahouse label since they have put out some of the worst hip hop in the past couple years. Thank God that Chamillionaire and Slim Thug left, since they were the only talented members. Anyways this album is terrible. The original was the 2nd best album of the year but this is just a terrible butchering of it. Just listen to Fireman on here and listen to it on the original and you'll notice a big difference. Also they also screwed up Wayne's voice too, just like they do with all the other artists who's albums are butchered by this crap. Go buy the original instead and stop supporting the butchering of good music!

5 out of 5 stars Mo Fire to a Hot CD.......2006-04-06

Michael Watts was the right man to call for the job. He put that extra stank on it making it able to be smelt right through the bag. Pick it Up. Peace

5 out of 5 stars GANGSTA.......2006-05-14

This is one of the best Juve CD's. The beats are fresh, with guest appearences from all of the hot boys. The production is very very good. Most people criticize this CD for not sounding like 400 while this CD is close to if not almost the same as 400 Degreez. The beats are straight up sick. Most people say that this CD talk s a lot about bling bling, no he doesn't most people criticize this CD without even listening, he talks about the G-Code and life in the projects. If you have known every Juvenile album everyone talks about something else. 400 is the most bumpable, and commercialized CD because of Back that @ZZ up. One of the top 3 Juvenile albums of all time next to 400 Degreez & Solja Rags.

4 out of 5 stars Well cooked, but not at 400 Degrees; Very well done.......2006-03-13

1 year after he spit fire on the whole rap world wit 400 Degrees, Juve spit again wit the G Code. I get sit and damn tired of people dissin Juvenile, BG, Wayne, Luda, 36 mafia and other southern rappers. Give the folks they props mane. Its hard as hell to follow up a classic with a good CD, as 50 cent found out. How could somebody as simple, ghetto, and normal as juvenile do it? I have no idea. He is just one of those rappers who you keep listening to, like him or not, realize it or not.
Between the time the Biggie Smalls died and for the hit single "Ha" hit the radio, all other rappers were good, but nothing special about them. Hell the top rappers at that time were silkk tha shocker and DMx. Like I said good but not great.

Then some cat came from out of nowhere asking you a whole bunch of questions about everyday life. It seemed stupid at first. But after a while you said " Damn, Juvenile may been on to somethin". Then you find yourself buying his CD at Best Buy or Target instead from dude around the corna. Half way through the CD, you say " Damn, Juvenile on Fire (which is #17 on 400 degrees), but can he come out with another good CD?

Then he hit yo ass with G Code and you realize that he is a living legend. Not as explosive as 400 Degrees, but its hot enough to burn ya. Yes you will bump this everytime your in the hood, and yes u will find yourself buying other Juvenile albums.

All and all, great album by one of the all time greats.

2 out of 5 stars Saen McDonald is Gay.......2006-01-15

I have to agree with that opinion of him cuase he's a hater.
But I have to also admit this cd sucks.
If you are late to the whole bling era like I was, DO NOT COPP this cd! Get BG's Chopper city in the Ghetto. That was at least 601 degreez.
I'm sorry. I'm a hardcore hotboys fan, but I will never think Juve is a good rapper. EVER! I will continue to copp his cds for collectors sake.

Im tired of people dissin southern rap. Now i Know that there arent a lot of lyricist but you gotta give credit where credit is due. These guys kik the real deal about their hood and to me the "realness" comes thru. At a time in rap where there are so many club and radio songs I greatly appreciate them sharing the struggles and ups and downs of project livin and story telling that has been missing since i would say the late 90's post biggie smalls-tupac murders. BUT , maybe you can't relate to it. Maybe you cant feel that fire that Mannie got. Maybe you just aint got no soul?

This CD is a classic!B.G.,is one of the best there is in Gangsta Rap!It shows in his hardcore raw lyrics.Gizzle tell street tales like no other.Im from New Orleans,so I can relate to a lot of the things he spit out his mouth. The Heart Of Tha Streetz Vol.1 is a Gangsta Rap classic, right up there with his other classics,Chopper City,It's All On U Vol.1 and 2,and Chopper City In The Ghetto! There's several other gangsta rappers out there, but none of them come as real as B.G. does. There's a certain feeling you get when listening to his music. This along with Mac's World War 3 and Soulja Slim's The Streets Made Me are Gangsta Rap at its finest! If you're into Gangsta Rap,you wont be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars 4.75 STARS.......2006-05-30

This album is really good, one of B.G's best in my opinion. The production is really good, but it seems like B.G. is turning into a bit of a Lil' Wayne (all the bragging). That's why i took a quarter of a star away from this album, because it gets kind of annoying with him bragging on almost every song... but apart from that little problem, this album is great. I highly recommend this to any rap fan.

4 out of 5 stars keep ya heart of the streetz gizzle.......2006-04-16

4 out of 5 stars Real Street Dreams.......2006-04-07

Not many artists, hip-hop / rap or any other genre could say they've been around for as many albums as B.G. With three albums with the Hot Boyz and if I'm not mistaken the eight solo album. The Heart Of Tha Streetz Vol. 1 is consistent with the previous albums with street tales and the gangster image since day one with Cash Money. The title track shapes the LP's with hook lyrics as "...when I was young, man, I got lost in the streets / but now my heart's in the streets / man I'm the heart of the streets..." On "Fool With It" B.Gizzle's flow is similar to the Cash Money days over Mannie Fresh bounce influence track produced by Mouse. Representing New Orleans, Louisiana, "Chopper City" featuring Sniper, he speaks on their mentality of the streets. For a nearly club track with an Atlanta feel with a bounce, "Where Da At" featuring Homebwoi produced by Mr. Collipark & Jevor fit well with the gangster theme's and lyrics such as "...ever since them n*ggas killed my dad / crack and a pen and pad / is all I had..." "Same Ol' S*%#" featuring Hakizzle, Gar, Sniper & VL Mike is one of the highlights of the album with its marching band drums could stand alone. The guitar strum loop on "Do That S*%#" help to support the strong reality stories told by B.G. as if it's a form of Blues. "Ride With That" is fairly decent, but this is ultimately filler. On the other hand, "Get Ya Game Up" is a good song where B. gets to that bragging flow as "U See Why" featuring Gar is a different aspect with his life struggles from a more spiritual angle. Getting back to the script, "Roll With Me" is about is gangster for the criminals, crooks, hustlers and the like. "Oh No" featuring Hakizzle continues the overall feel of the album but a breath of fresh air with the collaboration. To end this seventeen track project, "On Tha Block" to conclude the street grinding feel. He may not go gold or platinum on his own but he still got his gangster together.

3 out of 5 stars It's Worth It For The Production.......2006-03-30

I have to say that I didn't expect a release like this from B.G. but it was still cool. He was bragging in the entire album and it was almost as if this was just a small town mixtape and not an album. Every song had the same lyrics when you really listen up but the album is still worth the buy for it's tight production. I can't believe that B.G. would release such a below average lyrical album like this but he did and what can you do about it. Buy the album to kill your speakers but turn down the treble to save yourself from hearing lyrics that are below B.G..

3 out of 5 stars 3.5 star album from the "Eastsidaz".......2006-11-21

Their 3rd group album, if you want to call it that, comes 4 years after thier 2nd and best album. Most of these seem like they are from 2000 - 2001 time frame and just were never used. With 17 songs, you get some more of the Eastsidaz, Goldie Loc is on all 17 songs, Tray Deee is on 15 and Snoop is only on 7. Other guests drop in on about half teh songs as well. Of the 17 songs, 1 is almost a classic, 1 I skip, 7 are ok and the other 8 are good, nothing great though. Production credits aren't given but I know Battlecat does a few songs and Jelly Roll does at least 1. For their fans I'd cop this but they have much better work. As usual Tray Deee far outshines Goldie Loc with his nice raspy gangsta voice and tight flow, Goldie is average at best once again.

4 out of 5 stars Hot!...But..........2005-11-13

This is a weird CD. Not musically weird, because it may be one of the best recordings to come out of the west coast hip-hop scene in the last year or two (along with The Game's "The Documentary & Warren G's "In The Midnight Hour"). But weird in the fact that it seemingly came out of nowhere & the CD itself gives no clue as to it's origin. There are no liner notes, production credits or any information as to when or where it was recorded. The sound quality is excellent which is what matters most, but otherwise, this is very cheaply put together, for some reason. Even the cover photo of the group is out of focus. By all accounts, this is all new, or at least relatively new Eastsidaz material. Most of the usual suspects pop up for some good collabos. Nate Dogg, MC Ren(!), Kokane, Suga Free & even Redman guest on various tracks. Even familiar themes & skits, like the "WBallz" radio spots are included. However, the CD suffers to a degree, because there is about a 8 second silence between tracks which makes the flow of the album non-existent. Also, the sequencing is a little off as well. Max "The Mack" Julien has a great skit in the middle of the disc, but it would have been even better if it had been the CD's intro. There's also two bonus tracks, that go uncredited entirely. Some featured artist on certain tracks are uncredited also. Never mind all the minuses, though. True DPGC fans will be feeling this. With the exception of "Vegetarian" which is kind of a wack track that champions eating pork(?), it's tight all the way through. If it could find major label distrubution, and fix it's minor issues, this could be considered near classic material.

4 out of 5 stars The Best of YoungBloodz: Still Grippin' tha Grain.......2007-01-16

After three album's the Youngbloodz deliver "The Best of YoungBloodz: Still Grippin' tha Grain" (2006) a thirteen track release which features appearances from Lil Jon, Young Buck, Jazze Pha, Killer Mike, Big Boi & Backbone. The Youngbloodz are a Atlanta duo which consists of J-Bo (A.K.A. Jeffrey Ray Grigsby) and Sean Paul (A.K.A. Sean Paul Joseph). The duo open up this release with hit tracks "Presidential" and "Damn" feat. Lil Jon (Eight of the track's on this were released originally as singles). My favourite Youngbloodz track is "85" an exceptional track about cruising and good times, gotta love that chorus. Another favourite of mine which is not included on this release but came out on Step Up Soundtrack is an outstanding cut called "Imma Shine". "Cadillac Pimpin" is another entertaining cut about cruising, while "U-Way" (How We Do It) has the Youngbloodz rhyming over a sinister sounding beat. G-Unit's Young Buck tag teams "Datz Me" with the Youngbloodz. The duo show their love for drinking "Tequila", rhyming away and singing like they had been drinking it when they made the track. "The Best of YoungBloodz: Still Grippin tha Grain" is a release worth checking out, especially for those who have not been following them over the years.

4 out of 5 stars No longer a Baby........2007-04-26

I've already explained in my We Got This review that I'd never followed B.G. as a solo artist, despite riding the Cash Money wave back in the late nineties. He never seemed too captivating an artist, and there were just more charismatic emcees on his label that made me overlook him. Even though he created the Bling Bling craze, that was more of a curse than a gift; and I never checked out his platinum Chopper City album either. In 2007, I'm hoping to hear a different artist than the B.G. I heard nearly a decade ago. Though this album was released last year, do I get from this album what i was hoping for?

Very much so. B.G. has certainly improved since his days with Cash Money, sharpening his flow, and garnering a mic presence that overshadows most other emcees on the same track. His voice is pleasently high-pitched, similar in vein to his rival, Weezy; while B.G. isn't nearly as creative an emcee as Weezy F. Baby, he's still a highly talented, and improved emcee like his former partner-in-rhyme. While We Got This did nothing to get me acquainted with B Gizzle, I'll go as far to say that The Heart Of Tha Streetz Vol. 2 is the perfect introduction to B.G.

Back in the day, B.G. used to sound like nothing more than an arrogant kid hoping to get some bling and cash. Although B.G. still has his materialistic ways at heart, he's a grown men now, and it shows throughout most of the album. While not dropping knowledge at the tip of a Yankee caps, B.G. still sounds like he's learned from the various mistakes he's made in the past. He has also gone into a more hardcore direction, and it works very well for B.G.; while most emcees who try to go the straight-up gangsta-rap route these days fail with few exceptions(The Game is probably the most prolific traditional gangsta rapper these days), B.G. is one of the few who can pull off this image very well.

B.G.'s street-tracks are definitely the highlights of this album. "I Ain't Got Nothing," "Kill Or Be Killed," "Real N*****," and "**** 'Em" are definitely some tight tracks from The Gizzle, where he uses his rough edges as an extreme positive in his style. His raspy voice sounds tailor-made for any beat, and certainly boosts the quality of his delivery, also adding some authentic elements to his unapologetic lyrics. However, his party tracks are just as hot; the Mannie Fresh produced "Move Around" is the best example of this. Definitely the best cut on the album, Move Around is equipped with an amazingly catchy backdrop from Mannie, a hilarious, yet quite serious chorus("raised on bread and balogney"), and some dope verses from B.G.

B.G. isn't one of the best lyricists in the game, as he definitely still suffers from some cliches; however, considering the market B.G. caters to, he is more than sufficient enough an emcee to make himself stand out in a very crowded market. The Heart of Tha Streetz Vol. 2 is a great re-introduction to the emcee whose name used to be an acronym for Baby Gangsta; no longer a Baby, The Gizzle keeps it as Gangsta as possible on this release. Pick it up.

5 out of 5 stars B.G. Still Keepin It Gangsta!.......2006-10-28

Gizzle still doing his thing,by keeping it gangsta! This is another great cd from B.G. and goes to show, that he could maintain on his own. This cd is more polished than the previous version and it truly shows. As I said before,B.G. is one of,if not the best in gangsta rap right now.If you like hardcore street tales, then you'll love this album!

5 out of 5 stars Much more polished.......2006-09-05

I've bought all of B.G.'s albums, and this is by far the most "polished" of his CD's. At first I thought the polished-ness interferred with his gangster feel. The more I listened the more I was blown away. His rhymes are much tighter than Vol. 1, The feel of his music stays the same, Chopper City Music must've bought some updated equipment.

This Album is a must!
