The JF's were pivotal in bringing a sense of consciousness into what was until the release of their first album pretty much an egocentric musical form. Always looking for new directions, beats and musicians to work with The Jungle Brothers were inspired on a trip to the UK by the emerging 'big beat' scene which featured artists such as The Chemical Brothers and Propeller heads. Main Propeller head, Alex Gifford, produced their 1999 album V.I.P. and represented a new bold and ambitious direction for the band. The Jungle Brothers have never been afraid to take risks. Down with the J. Beez.......2006-03-31

I find it hard to believe that I am the first person to review this set. Oh well, I suppose they don't get much media attention these days but true heads know how great the first two J. Beez albums are. While listening to these discs one things stands out in my mind how come there isn't a nice crisp clear re-master of either "Straight out the Jungle" or "Done by the forces of Nature"? Alot of old school classics should be sonically upgraded. In any case this colection shows that the J. Beez went in a really fun dance oriented direction which is a good thing. It does make me wish for a deluxe double disc re-issue of their first two albums. I mean if Weezer and Lynnrd Skynnrd rate why not the Jungle Brothers?
