Product Description
Maihem has been active in the music industry for several years as well as acting in movies and trailers. He has opened for such acts as Sam Salter and the Goodie Mob. Maihem paints his musical picture with emotion and detail. The method of delivery he chooses for each track is meticulously calculated, but it is his natural raw emotions that draw the audience closer. One of the great attractions of Maihem is the fact that he performs with a live band.

Climbing on the burly shoulders of the No Limit record label, New Orleans's Cash Money Records leads the Dirty South's second assault on the ears of the rest of the country. But it wasn't until Juvenile's conversational "Ha," a furiously paced monologue dwelling on the details of everyday life, broke that the label was able to establish itself with a single that would snap northern necks. 400 Degreez, the album from which "Ha" is drawn, marks a high point in the South's musical output. Producer Manny Fresh--who's responsible for all the Cash Money production--rarely strays far from the region's bass roots, blending it with strings, keys, and other layers to make it more palatable to the masses. And it's Juvenile, with his hurried slurs, who dances the shimmy best, from the anthemic "Run for It" to the New York-ready braggadocio of "Juvenile on Fire," on which Fresh shakes it up like maracas on Cinco de Mayo. --Jon Caramanica

anthem king indeed!.......2006-06-14
Read the below review Street-Hop-1977 wrote titled "Street Anthem King."
That pretty much sums up all there is to say about Juvenile and 400 Degreez.
Yeah, Juvey's good for a few hit party singles from time to time. Yes, he a Southern rap legend and yes, 400 Degreez is considered his classic.
Juve got skills, but Wayne is better now!
Street Anthem King.......2006-06-14
I'm not hatin' on Juvey ... he do got skillz (well, more than most at what used 2 be his Cash $$$ Millionaires Camp -- well, okay, Wayne on top now).
I'm a hardcore hip hop fan but I do listen to different kinds and from different regions. I'm a casual Juvenile fan at best, so please take that into consideration with this review.
Juvey was introduced to mainstream with anthemic hits like "Ha", "Back Dat A## Up" and "Follow Me Now" from this album 400 Degreez.
And what have we heard from Juvenile since this 1998 LP?
More anthemic jams like "U Understand", "I Got Dat Fire," "Mama Got A##," "(Move In) Slow Motion", and "Rodeo."
If you 13, you'll probably think there's no better album out than this one.
If you just into hip hop for party jams, you'll probably enjoy this album as well.
But if you're 25 or just a little more mature, this album will sound dated and loose some steam after 10+ replays.
Juvenile will rightfully go down as one of the legends of Southern rap music, but me personally, I just have to be in the mood to hear Juvenile -- otherwise I'm rockin' some other sh%t.
But, overall, if you can listen to some rap music without taking lyrics too seriously other than just having a good time, this album is recommended.
Also, considering so many of his subsequent albums have been hit or miss, 400 Degreez is THE Juvenile LP 2 cop.
Snuggly Naptime Fun.......2006-05-01
I really can't add any more than what has already been written about the classic 400 Degreez. My children love it dearly, along with several other Juvenile albums and videos. So let me just add this information I learned about Juvenile's music. By the way, his excellent earlier albums and first video should have received more awards but had not reached full popularity yet like his later albums:

Best Juvenile Cd........................2006-02-22
Folks from places other than New Orleans have said that Juvenile raps like he's deaf. Maybe it's the lazy-tongued drawl. Maybe it's how he randomly adds and subtracts syllables. Maybe it's because some of his favorite words have no written equivalent, or precise meaning - words like whoalay or shipe. But it's no speech impediment. It's New Orleans Third Ward Ghetto - a second language. Juvenile's not deaf. He's bilingual.
Folks outside of New Orleans have also said that Juvenile can't rap. Truth be told, he can't. Not in a Rakim, KRS-One sort of way. But to those who live in and around the Magnolia Housing Project of Uptown New Orleans, not only can Juvenile rap, Juvenile and his fellow Hot Boyz - B.G., Lil' Wayne and Turk - are rap.
New Orleanians have an odd habit of adding affirmative or declarative words at the end of sentences. "I can't go tonight, no." "The test was hard, yeah." Or as Juvenile begins "Ha": "That's you with that bad-a** Benz, huh?" (It's written "Ha." He means "Huh?" As in: "Right? Don't you agree? Isn't it so?") "Ha" is the first single - an updated, remodeled and better version of Juvenile's regional hit, "Solja Rag."
Some of "Ha" is funny - "That's you that can't keep a ol' lady 'cause you keep f*****' her friends, huh?"
Some of "Ha" is cruel - "That h** don't know when to shut her mouth up, huh?/You gon' knock that h*** teeth out, huh?"
Some of "Ha" is criminal - "You know how to work a triple beam, huh?/It ain't hard as it seems, huh?"
Some of "Ha" is just life - "Some of your partners [are] dope fiends, huh?/You don't really wanna f*** wit' them n***** huh?/You come up wit' them n*****, huh?/You stuck wit' them n*****, huh?"
"Ha" may be either a subtly nuanced work of genius or a beautiful accident. Or both.
If you're looking for complex rhyme schemes, complicated flows or advanced subject matter, keep looking. Juvenile raps are strictly rhyme/rhyme, switch. Rhyme/rhyme, switch. His idea of a complex rhyme is status and at/us. (Get it? Both syllables.) His topics are basic and you've heard it all before - wine, women, weapons. The usual. Repeatedly.
Despite these limitations, what keeps 400 Degreez interesting is style. Juvenile chants/sings/raps his lyrics in a deceptively simple way that makes you think maybe you could be a rapper. But you'd best believe that it takes talent. If it didn't, this writer would be a Hot Boy too instead of just writing about them.
In varying combinations, the other three Hot Boyz appear on almost half of the album's 13 songs. They too, sound like average rappers. You'll keep hitting your repeat button though. B.G. has an ominous, dark drawl that makes everything he says sound dangerous even when it's not. Lil' Wayne has the nasal whine of a kid and a funny tendency to say words in pairs - his diamonds don't gleam, they "gleam-gleam." He's not riding on twenties; he's on "twenny-twen-twens." Nothing he says sounds particularly dangerous even when it is. ("All my enemies/See me comin'/All my enemies/Pew! - Be runnin'." From the gunfire, he means. Yeah, right. You'll be laughing. Wayne's laughing too - "I crack myself up," he says.) Turk is the most conventional rapper of the four and he's not half-bad either.
Cash Money has only one producer, Manny Fresh. True to his name, Manny's tracks are fresh - unsampled and uninterpolated that is. They don't call these guys Cash Money for nothing. Forget clearing samples, these guys are collecting 100% of their publishing. Manny's tracks won't change the course of rap production, but they won't bore you either. He likes to place snare drum rolls in unexpected places and he punctuates every song with keyboard stabs that all sound the same except that they're not.
Juvenile and the Cash Money Millionaires are about one thing - entertainment. They're not trying to stimulate, provoke or educate. They're not trying to uplift the race or free the mind. They're just trying to entertain you enough that you'll buy their next record and tell all your friends to buy this one.

While the Cash Money Records label continues to suffer through the free-agent exodus of its hottest emcee, Juvenile, Lil Wayne has been slotted in as the crew's go-to griot. However, on 500 Degreez Wayne's inability to rap about subjects other than Bentleys, babes, blunts, and booze severely limits his career possibilities. On the profanity-laced "F*** You" and "Gangsta S***," his mediocre and indistinct rhymes and flows are barely saved by Mannie Fresh's electro-funk beat schemes. That's not to say that Fresh isn't coasting either, performing his normal interpolation-heavy productions (e.g., "Way of Life" is a spin-off on Junior Mafia's "Get Money"). Why Lil Weezy would spend three-quarters of his studio time boasting about how much moola he makes ("Get That Dough") and how great he thinks he is ("Look at Me") is anybody's guess. The one time Weezy does go introspective on "Young'n Blues" it's already too late, because he's already branded himself a hip-hop jester. --Dalton Higgins
Customer Reviews:
Weak album, even for Weezy fans.......2006-12-08
In 2002, Lil Wayne released his third album, "500 Degreez." This album is by far Wayne's worst, displaying a lot of problems throughout the album. Although his first two albums were entertaining Cash Money Records productions, this album simply doesn't deliver like those two did. At this point in his career, Weezy was lyrically not the rapper he would become in his early 20s, so he is still in a teenage phase rapping mostly about money, cars, and prosperity, which is fine given the right production. The problem is, even the production on this album is lacking. Mannie Fresh is a great producer by all means, but on this disc he sounds like he is on cruise control, just like Wayne on the mic. At first, this album seems like one of the many inconsistent Cash Money records, and you're listening through the filler tracks waiting for the banging, excellent single track to come. On "500 Degreez," that song never comes, and there's no standout on here at all. Wayne spends a lot of the album trying to one up the 1998 album "400 Degreez" by Juvenile, who had just left the label. I consider "400 Degreez" a classic, it is the best Cash Money Records album in my opinion, and in trying to top it Wayne fails miserably. There are some cheap and failed imitations of songs on that album. The guest appearances are formulaic and the album is just weak as a whole. As someone who has thoroughly enjoyed many Cash Money albums, I was disappointed with "500 Degreez."
After a very familiar-sounding intro, the album begins with "Look at Me," which is nothing special but actually turns out to be one of the album's better tracks. "Way of Life" has lyrics that put me to sleep and uses a totally played-out sample that I've heard ten times before at least. "Gangstas and Pimps" has a decent chorus but the raps are weak and don't match it. "Lovely" is tirefully boastful and has completely uninteresting production. "Gangsta S..." is okay, and "Bloodline" has probably the best beat on the album. "Worry Me" and "Where You At" are also two decent songs, but completely forgettable. "500 Degreez" jacks the beat from Juvenile's great song "400 Degreez," and Wayne lazily tries to turn Juve's original lines around on himself, I really dislike this song. Lil' Wayne uses a boring flow to deliver worn-out bragadagio on "Go Hard," and while "Young'n Blues" is a pretty solid song lyrically it's not at all memorable. The Big Tymers save the otherwise abysmal "Believe That," and for the rest of the album, tracks like "What Does Life Mean to Me" and "Get That Dough" provide no highlights. The skits scattered throughout the album add absolutely nothing, using the played out radio station-as-interludes cliche.
I don't recommend "500 Degreez," even to Wayne fans, for this is his worst album. There's really not much good I could say about it, the lyrics are poor and the production is uninteresting. It really just doesn't seem like anyone tried hard enough on this album. To fans new to Lil' Wayne, I suggest starting out with his debut "The Block Is Hot" or either one of his "Tha Carter" albums. To other fans interested in buying this album, I suggest the Big Tymers "Hood Rich," a similarly concepted album that came out the same year and is much better executed and entertaining and is supremely superior to this album. This is a weak effort that I suggest avoiding.
Lil Wayne - 500 Degreez.......2006-09-09
After taking a year off the scene, Lil Wayne returns with his follow-up to "Lights Out" with "500 Degreez." After Juvenile released the supposed classic with "400 Degreez", Wayne is out to prove that his spit game and this album is wayyy hotter.

After 2 solid (for the most part) efforts, this album is below them both. Production is very very solid (minus 2 or 3 tracks) but the hooks are wack on lots of them. It doesn't even feel like a Southern album like it should be. Only check it out if your a die hard fan of Lil Wayne, Cash Money Records or the Hot Boys.
Oh GAWD..........2006-04-27
This is the best lil wayne CD, Get outta here this is the worst CD in Cash Money Records what was he trying to do, and then calling his title 500 degreez? I dont know what he was trying to do with this album trying something new but it obviously didnt work. Overly done bass and awkward beats with weak choruses. This CD is full of non-Cash Money cameo appearances and Lil Wayne rarely rapped. Cop any other Cash Money Record cd, but this. The Block is Hot is Lil Wayne's best CD. What was lil wayne thinking.
Its 500 not 400 degreez .......2006-02-04

Hot but not Hot Enough.......2005-09-22
Somebody misread da temperature. This was by no means hotter than 400 degreez, PERIOD. Juvy brought his own style to da table wit some of Fresh's hardest beats. Wayne stole somebody style(Yall remember when he did'nt sound like this) and rapped on da most commercial Fresh beats to date. The Carter should have been 500 Degreez or better yet 350. YEAHHHHHHH

Don't get me wrong, this is one of the best CDs I have ever heard. All Cash Money albums are. My Mom made me get the edited version and guess what? IT SUCKS! It totally destroys the entire CD. Songs like Back That Azz Up are nothing but scratch noises. My friends have this CD and I know it is a great album. The best tracks are 2,3,4,5,6,10,11,12,13,16,17,and 18.

Customer Reviews:
More like 5 degreez (2 and 1/2 stars).......2007-04-24
Juvenile, Cash Money's top selling artist leaves after realizing he is getting jerked. After he leaves words are exchanged with him and Lil Wayne and Wayne puts out this album to soothe his bruised ego. The only songs that get rotation are Look At Me, Way Of Life, Gangstas And Pimps, Bloodline, Where You At, 500 Degreez(not better than Juve but its alright), and Gangsta S***(featuring Petey Pablo). Rubbish like Young'n Blues, F*** You (cheesy subliminal diss), Get That Dough(sounds like clown music), Go Hard(snore), Lovely and Believe That will make stay away from this album like it was a dog foaming out the mouth. Bottom Line: 500 Degreez is the worst Cash Money release since The Block Is Hot, Young And Thuggin, Project English and Hood Rich. Boring beats, lackluster lyrics from a self-proclaimed G.O.A.T., and weaker guest appearances. Lil Wayne should put his Cash Money where his mouth is and learn to make a good album instead of boasting about how well he raps because this release is not touching Juvenile's 400 Degrees or Soulja Rags.
WHERES DA REST OF THE HOT BOYS.......2002-08-10
as the only hot boy left lil'wayne, mack 10,& the bigtymers haft to hold it down t don't care what any one say's this is a thigth c.d. but lil wayne dosent really have the best lines in all his song's like "get that dough" baby is the one rhyming the most.

Awesome album!.......2002-07-24
I got it this morning... I was prolly one of the first people to get it...It's an awesome album... I loved "Way Of Life" that's the reason I got it.... I have the clean version.. There's lots of censors, but I still love it! If you're a Lil Wayne fan, go get this album.. It's a fairly long CD, too..
