Ghetto Commission.......2005-01-19
This is a tight album. One of the cats sound a little bit like magic. Master P should have at least identified them.
The best No Limit ablum to date.......2001-11-22
I bought this ablum just a week after its release in 1998,and from that point to now I've never gotin tired of listening to it. It is the phatist and hardist no limit ablum to date with appearences from Master P {with the best flows ever than any other ablum he did} Fiend,Magic and silk the shocker. The phatist songs on there are I'm a solja, Get'em up, Bloodline, Lost Thugs, Wise Guy and last but not least Thug Luv.
Other people thought this ablum was crap which disapionts me because it had better flows and beats than any other no limit artist. Ghetto Commission was supposed to come out with their second ablum in the summer of last year but some how the didn't. I reconmend this to you...
MUST SEE IF YOU ARE A NO LIMIT FAN.......2001-08-02
THIS ALBUM IS TIGHT AND IS DEFFINATELY WORTH THE MONEY I PAYED FOR IT.THEIR FLOW IS SICK THROUGHOUT THE CD, ESPECIALLY ON THE FIRST AND BEST SONG "IM A SOULJA" W/MYSTIKAL AND MASTER P, THE SONG ALSO CONTAINS MASTER P'S BEST RHYME. THE OTHER SONGS ARE GOOD SUCH AS 'THESE EYES OF MINE' WHICH HAS ONE OF THE BEST INSTRUMENTALS IVE EVER HEARD. MOST OF THE NO LIMIT TEAM SUCH AS SILKK,C-MURDER,MAC,FIEND,MAGIC,MR.SERV-ON CAN BE HEARD ON A NUMBER OF SONGS. WOT CAN ELSE CAN I SAY, DON'T HESITATE BUYING THIS ALBUM, BUY IT NOW, WHETHER YOUR A NO LIMIT FAN OR NOT YOU'LL BE SATISFIED. R.I.P BIGGIE AND 2PAC.
Classic Album.......2001-07-21
This was one of the top three albums No Limit released in 98'.Whoever said dis album [stinks] is hatin because everybody in the group can rap over the tight beats provided. There aint one song on dis album you can't listen to all the through.
Very talented!.......2000-10-07
GC is a very talented groub and I hope that they'll come with another phat album very soon. The best tracks on Wise Guys are I'm a soulja, Get em up,Thug till I die, Run Quickly, Bloodline Devil's Playground & Our Thing! Check it out!

Album Description
Leonardo - The Absolute Man is a reasoned, selective re-telling of the life of a great man, Leonardo da Vinci, the ultimate Renaissance man. It has been in the works for years, originating as the ultimate artistic dream of Magna Carta label head Peter Morticelli, who then placed the intellectual blueprints in the hands of Trent Gardner who commenced to create what is by far, the most complex, grand and magnificently sweeping collaboration the label has ever attempted.
Leonardo sounds like no other progressive rock construct you have ever heard. It is a mix of cinematic progressive rock, symphonic rock, progressive pop and progressive metal, graced and articulated by true classical music and the theatrical scope of state-of -the-art soundtrack or dramatic stage music.
Customer Reviews:
My Il Divino.......2005-12-16
This is the story that has not been told. It was sorely needed. This excellent musical event gives tangible woof and weft to the life that was Leonardo's. Visari didn't capture this.
Anyone who rates this piece poorly might want to recalibrate their listening habits. This is rare. In fact, I have purchased copies to send to other artists and musicians.
I guess I relate to this more because circumstantially, Leonardo and I have some things in common. Well done.
Superlative musical portrait.......2005-04-11
Along with J.S. Bach and Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci stands as one of my eternal heroes, with da Vinci perhaps the greatest of the three. Therefore, any musical endeavor that undertakes to capture his brilliance is one that I must find myself drawn to, with a critical but understanding eye, given the magnificence that the music would have to achieve in order to do the great Master justice.
From the first moments of Leonardo - The Absolute Man, I could tell that this was going to be an excellent attempt at accurately representing Il Divino in musical terms. Being one of those rare people who actually enjoyed both of Explorers Club's CDs, I could really get into the sound of this album. The instrumental writing and playing is exciting and brilliant. It does manage to reflect different facets of Leonardo himself, at times precise and complex, but deeply pensive and emotional at others.
As far as casting goes, I was fairly happy, I would say. The singing talent is, of course, virtually unmatched on any album; even Arjen Lucassen's projects don't manage to assemble a more talent-filled list. LaBrie especially shines for me, since I'm more familiar with him than any of the others, though I also like Mike Baker's singing on this album. At first, Lisa Bouchelle didn't seem quite right as Mona Lisa, but I grew accustomed to her, and having read an interview she gave on Highwire-Daze, I respect what she does for the character. And what can I say, if this were ever live, I wouldn't mind seeing her onstage ;-). I have no qualms with any of the other choices.
Ultimately, I would say that this is a very well-made album, and one that takes an interestingly personal, if slightly fanciful, look at da Vinci. Though there isn't enough time to paint him as the Homo universalis that he surely was, the 66 minutes we do get are as true to him in spirit as one could hope for. And while it would be presumptuous of me to say he'd have been proud, I think he would have appreciated it, and I can't imagine any other current band doing anything half as worthy to bear his name.
Beautiful.......2004-01-18
It's fantastic. Especially Dream Theater's James LaBrie's voice on "Shaping the Invisible". One of the best voices today! The duets "First Commission" and "This Time, This Way" are incredible. Gardner's songwriting talent is indubitable. Prog and Magna Carta at their best. Highly recommended.
Absolute Train Wreck!.......2003-12-23
Okay, perhaps it's not as horrible as Trent Gardner's other recent project, Explorers Club "Raising the Mammoth." But I really should have learned my lesson with this guy after the halfway-decent "Age of Impact" (the first Explorers Club album).
Gardner has no ear for melody! ZERO! Here we get more of his awkward writing with good singers struggling mightily to salvage it. And as another reviewer pointed out - the sound is awful!
With all of the top-notch progressive rock being put out today, there is no excuse for something this inferior. I have to believe that all of the 5-star reviews here are written by Gardner's friends and family. Trent, please, go back to law school or whatever it was that you were doing before you decided to become a musician!
decent.......2003-06-18
There are a few decent tracks on here but alot of wish wash as well. Most of the songs are unstructured and lyricaly challenged. A few of the duets are excellent but dont make up for the mediocrity leading up to them. I really wanted to love this cd but find myself cringing if I try to listen through the whole thing.

Album Description
This is one of the most amazing a cappella CDs to come along in a while! Contemporary men's quintet m-pact show their jazz roots as they commission the biggest names in vocal arranging to collaborate on some astounding pieces. Among the 11 tunes there's not an ounce of filler. The profound, groundbreaking centerpiece is Roger Treese's "Christmas Time Is Here," a nine-minute trance-inducing aural landscape (don't listen and drive at the same time!). There's shades of Take 6 on Randy Crenshaw's "Caroling, Caroling" although Cedric Dent's contribution was "Away In A Manger." The majestic arrangement of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" by m-pact's own Marco Cassone is Singers Unlimited on steroids - wow! Amy "Bob" Englehardt adds lyrics to "Sugar Plum Fairy" and Michelle Weir's arrangement transforms it into a driving 10/8 jazz masterpiece. Similarly "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" becomes a jazz waltz - very cool! m-pact gets funky on "Little Drummer Boy" before returning to classic vocal jazz on "Jingle Bells" and sublime, Singers Unlimited-style smooth vocals on "Snowfall." They go Caribbean on "De King Is Born Today" and are only "contemporary rock" - their more typical style - on original "December Fades Away."
Customer Reviews:
Simply the Best.......2007-03-09
This is one of those CDs that actually makes you look forward to the end of the year and the passing of Thanksgiving so you can play your favorite Christmas collections. The arrangements are divine and those voices...those voices! Having had experience in five-part a cappella arranging and singing, I can assure you this recording was not an easy accomplishment. This is what the little boy groups on the big labels wish they could sound like. Frankly, I wish MY group had sounded like this too!
This is 5 GUYS?.......2006-10-16
Every season when I get this out and share it with friends, they give me the same initial question: that's a guy singing that high part? Yup. Britt Quentin's voice soars above the top, but this is definitely a beautiful blended project. The group has gone to the top vocal arrangers of the world to provide them with the best product to deliver, and there are truly some great creative moments throughout. If you need some help in getting into the Christmas spirit, you have over 9 minutes of vocal soundscape to get you there in "Christmas Time Is Here." There is wide variety, but this is not your father's do-wop 50's vocal quartet. And I guess that's what I like about m-pact and their arrangements. This is truly a 21st Century A Cappella group: a sound for the new milennium. If you only buy one Christmas CD this season, buy this one!
Absolutely fantastic!.......2003-11-15
M-Pact is simply the best. Their vocal talent is off the charts, and they have a balance that any non-acappella group would kill to have. While I do not enjoy this CD as much as 2 (another one of their CDs), it is still one of the best CDs in the genre and probably my favorite Christmas album of all time. Recommended to anyone who loves music.
An example of excellence!.......2002-12-21
I was highly impressed by the vocal talent and stylistic versatility in this project! I love their sound, especially on 'Carolling, Carolling'!!! They have surely made their mark in the industry! Regretfully, I am saddened by the fact that this recording is the only one that I can find from these artists. I would love to hear more from this group. They are the bomb! Can't wait for the next cd!
If you have a chance...see M-Pact in person.......2000-03-30
These accapella singers are wonderful! Not only is this CD a year-round treat, their previous CD's are also great...especially, "A Mile in My Shoes" off "2".

Customer Reviews:
Great CD.......2005-11-23
I first came across this CD in the early 90s, sold under the original Japanese label Glass House. I was absolutely won over by Jimi's guitar playing. He has a slight touch of Scott Henderson, but his writing and arrangement was top notch.
I also purchased other CDs from Glass House Records including, Dennis Chambers, Mona Lisa Overdrive (with Adam Holzman) on keyboards, all featured Jimi on guitar. A few years later, he was also featured on arranger Bob Beldon's tribute to Prince CD. Not only could Jimi play the guitar, he's also a good singer.
Earlier this year, a friend of mine from Hong Kong made a DVD transfer for me, it was Steps Ahead's concert at the New York's Bottom Line with Jimi on guitar, Steve Smith on drums, Racheh Z on keys, Bendik Hofseth on sax, killer DVD.
