Best Live Mule!.......2007-04-03

What I actually mean is the song "Mule." This one version alone is easily worth the price of admission, while the rest of the disc rocks very well. The band is well recorded--a really great sounding live album. I'm surprised it's gone out of print. (?)

The Mule Delivers!.......2004-03-04

Live at Roseland Ballroom is yet another excellent example of the musical prowess of Gov't Mule. As usual, Warren, Allen, and Matt each bring their best to the table, which leads to one amazing CD. The tracks flow incredibly as the band continues to outdo itself as the album goes on. A loose, jammy feel permeates the CD and results in an extremely enjoyable listening experience. Like one of the other reviewers said, if you can actually find the damn thing, buy it!!! And check out more Gov't Mule!

I was there, and I can't tell the difference.......2003-12-29

This was supposed to be the opening act for Blues Traveler's 1995-6 New Year's concert, but Gov't Mule stole the show with Traveler's set acting more as an afterthought (no offense Popper, you guys were great, too). It is the only Mule album I own, and to this day, I haven't found reasons to buy anything else in their repetoire. Some bands are better live, and this is a fine example of that.

Want to know what Mule's about? Buy this album--if you can get your hands on it. From the octave accented "St. Stephen" tease to the swinging rendition of "Kind of Bird," this release will absolute floor you.

The way rock oath to be................1999-01-24

For me this is Gov't Mule best record. Hard rocking blues with a twist of jazz. This is very raw and straight forward and I know they don't make records like this way anymore. Only the Mule could and play this kind of music that other bands dare not to trend. My favorite is "Trane" ala Mahavishnu style with more blues put in it. All the numbers in this record is an "A". I would consider this a collector's piece. It's the next best thing seeing the band live. Warren Haynes, Allen Woody and Mat Abtts, these guys know what they're doing and they are doin it good.

After about 15 years after coming out, The Geto Boys are back with their newest album. Actually the last album Scarface, Willie D and Bushwick Bill did together was in 1996 (The album that came after that was great, but Bill wasn't on it...), and yet on "The Foudation" it's evident that the GBs never lost a step as they released yet another unforhettable classic record. Like any album Rap A Lot releases, this album is so different than anything that goes around the industry. No dumb-a## crunk songs, no simple-beat songs. It's just music, at the highest level possible. And yes, it's gangsta rap to the fullest, The GBs are still as raw as it gets. Yes, it's hard-core gangsta rap, but sometimes people fail to realise that Face, Will and Bushwick are three VERY intelligent individuals. You just have to read their interviews or just plain listen to their lyrics to find out. There's a lot of depth, and a lot of though in everything they say. And another thing that separates the Geto Boys from most rap groups these days is that they've got a lot to say, and that they rap about a wide range of topics. You get the hard-core gangsta tracks (and they still are MUCH better than 99% of the albums that come out these days), the laid-back personal tracks, and also a track or two that are almost club bangers (if they weren't so hard of course). Yes, The Geto Boys have a lot on their minds, and unlike anyone else, they are not afraid to rap about it. They talk about a lot of REAL personal experiences (including rough and sad personal experiences), they talk about geto life and life in general, they talk about wanna-be-gangstas (yes, they mean the rap industry, although they don't mention any names). They talk about the police, about snitches, about clubbing, about bi***es, about God, about strugling to survive... And each has a unique and frest style of his own. Scarface with his gangster street oriented lyrics, Willie D with his in-your-face attitude and Bushwick Bill's wild and unforgiving lyrics complementing his unaurthodoxic flow and Jamaican accent. Those three are your thinking man's gangsta rappers, and they deserve to be in the Rap Hall of Fame (ever since 1991 actually...). The production on the album is flawless, and it's just perfect. The album is produced mostly by Tone Capone, Mike Dean, Cory Mo. And to my surprise, Scarface himself produced some of the best songs on the album! Is there a thing this guy can't do?? The sound on all tracks is rich, musical and it suits the rappers' flows and voices perfectly. As on almost each GB album, you get one solo track from each member, and everyone of those guys does a tremendous job as a solo artist as well. No guest features on this album, other than Z-Ro who drops by just to drop an unforgettable and catchy hook on "When It Get Gangsta". This album is a timeless classic, like a breath of fresh air in the so-fake and un-original rap industry these days. Geto Boys do their own thing like they always do. They actually ARE among the founders of gangsta rap and it's time that people recognise this!... If you want to hear some real rap music, ranging from hardcore to laid-back, by three incredible rappers, then "The Foundation" is the answer.

One of the highlight albums of 2005.......2006-09-22

Standout tracks: DECLARATION OF WAR, YES YES YALL, WE BOOGIE, WHEN IT GETS GANGSTA(gangsta rap classic), I TRIED, G CODE, WHAT, LEANIN ON YOU, and REAL N---A S--T. Filler: 1 2 the 3, nothin 2 show and Dirty bitch(eminem type of joint). Bottom line: Geto Boys came back with an album that made any wack album that came out in 2005 a distant memory. Surprisingly Bushwick Bill and Willie D bought their dopest rhymes to the table on this one and Scarface keeps getting better with time.

Foundation.......2006-01-24

The Geto Boys are back. This time maybe for the last time. The Foundation starts off with an intro with J. Prince. It is then followed by a good song Declaration of War. The single Yes Yes Ya'll is pretty bangin track. Other good songs include G Code, Real N----a S--t, and the best track Dirty B----h. This album was not as good as I expected with some tracks that I skip over. There are no real hardcore tracks except the last song, where Bushwick Bill disses his ex-girl. I still recommend you get this album for the good tracks on it.

This was an outstanding come back by a group of undisputed legends. The Geto Boys are one of the best rap groups ever. This is straight street from start to finish. No club bangers, no pop, no radio friendly stuff. Just hardcore rawness through out. This is defintely one of the best rap albums of the year and it will be high on my top ten list

These guys are here to stay but it is too bad that they do not get that much attention and this pisses me off because these guys are better then 99 percent of the rappers that are out now. Buy this cd to support The Geto Boys because they can rip apart G-Unit,Boyz N Da Hood, and whoever else is a group out there. BUY BUY BUY THIS CD

The Hoppers are great and this cd is no less than great. You can feel the love and the spirit of the Lord when they sing. All of their music is a true inspiration. I love to hear Kim Hopper go really high on "Stepping on the Clouds". Keep up the wonderful work.

DJ Dee did a good as job on this Cd. For some reason Rap-a-Lot keep switching DJ's to screw their music. Besides the SwishaHouse Mix, this is one of the best Chopped-a-Lot CDs out. I've been bumping track #4 all week! You need to check this one out...you won't be disappointed!
