THE OFFICAL AMAZON HIP HOP REVIEWER.......2007-01-22
Hello and thank you for looking at the reviews for Guerilla Black, Guerilla city
I have heard a lot about this artist, alot of what i have heard is about his uncanny similarity to sounding like The notorious B.I.G, it also seem's like Guerilla Black has taken quite a knock of his reputation from this.
i can say that geurilla black does sound very similar to The Notorious B.I.G and i realy dont see why this is a bad thing!?
Before i knew about this artist i would of loved to buy another B.I.G album too hear his voice again, then Geurilla Black comes out and it is just like buying another NEW biggie album.
Geurilla Black does have the same type of flow as biggie and the same voice but the thing which let this album down and in my eye's makes it a total flop.... is the terrible production, i would expect production like this on Fat man scoops album but not on this album
Geurilla Black was brought up in Compton, California, Usa but yet when listening to this album just seems too south coast and has no unique compton style to it at all.
if your an old classic Eazy E, MC Ren, MC Eiht, DJ Quik, and the rest of compton fan when you'll be as discusded in this album as much as i was.
i wish i had spent my money on something else no matter how cheap i got it.
If you are a fan of Biggie then you'll love this guy's voice and i realy like Geurilla black but the production on this album realy is too new skool and you keep expecting Usher too popping into the songs and bust a ryhme.. .. .. ..
please miss this one out people.
thank you for your time and good luck with your searching.
Scary.......2006-08-29
Despite what some reviewers have said, this is a decent album with some good songs. What's freaky is how close this guy sounds to Biggie.
Where would he be without Biggie??.......2006-02-24
no this album was just a really poor attempt at being the B.I.G. People say, "Well he isnt Biggie, hes Guerilla Black!!" I dont care, if he got his voice, well he cant do anything about that....but his style is exactly like Bigs...i dont agree wit this album at all, but the beats are nice...thats why i gave it the 2 stars i gave it...but still he needs to try something a little different, something that will characterize who he is, cus i think hes got something going for him. But it aint what hes doing now...
On the right track.......2006-01-14
The B.I.G. comparisons are obvious, as his voice is pretty darn similar to Biggie's. His rhymes are not at Biggie's level, but I think as GB progresses, so will his lyrics.
I liked the album overall, its worth a buy in my mind, and so much better than all that rehashed southern hip hop crap that is growing like the kudzu along the roadways in the south.
Minus one star for the cliched and apparently obligatory "skits", which are horrible, not even a little funny. Skits should have pretty much ended after The Chronic, and all they do is wear out the track advance button on my deck. Seriously, anything new to be said in skit form should be included in the liner notes, but if I have to hear one more skit about the rapper having sex with an abundance of women, someone rolling up and shooting someone, or a completely non-sensicle shout-out, I'm gonna go postal.
Guerilla Wack.......2006-01-11
This album reeks of Biggie-inspired flows and rhymes. Even some of Biggie's old producers are on this album. For all the Guerilla Black supporters, if he wasn't biting, then where is he now? Why wasn't he invited to do a guest spot on the Biggie Duets album? And why do most of these reviews focus on him sounding like Biggie and not on his dope rhyme skills? Because he has none.

Product Description
City Canyons Records announces the release of Finnish group Valerian's hot new monster of an album, GUERILLA FIGHTING METHOD, a revolutionary album in more ways than one. "Hot" is not just slang for a winning rocker, although the album is certainly that. "Hot" also means angry. Valerian has issues with "The Man" and the band doesn't hold anything back, attacking everyone from "Mr. Despot," (who bears a striking resemblance to certain current politicians) to those who attempt to destroy the will and identity of the younger generation in "Children of the Menticide". In short, the band grabs the world of corrupt power by the throat and just won't let go. None of the album becomes a preachy diatribe however. Huge twin guitars from Toni Ritonen and Matti Toivonen, the remarkable rhythm section of bassist Janne Jääskeläinen and drummer Tipi Andersson together with the protean voice of lead singer Olli Koskela grabs your body and soul and won't let go. The powerful political and social statements of the Finnish group dominate the album but there are some other winning components of the CD as well including, by way of example, a haunting and somewhat disturbing lament for lost love in "Reservoir" and a tender ballad, "My Only Love". GUERILLA FIGHTING METHOD is the second album from Valerian. While the band's first album under the City Canyons Record label, INTIMATIONS OF SORROW, was hailed as a glam metal influenced classic, the Finnish five go in a somewhat different direction this time, blending such influences as Guns n' Roses with post-Nirvana alternative rock and the social and political awareness of a Bruce Springsteen
