Customer Reviews:
(2+half stars) Funk Superhero crash lands!!.......2005-08-05
Being a big Funkdoobiest fan from back in the day my loyalty to this artist has been stretched over the years. Unfortunately its finally wore alittle bit thin. No question the first 2 Funkdoobiest albums were off the chain, the 3rd had alot of high points but also afew low points. However when the big man himself, Sondoobie (officially) went solo with his "funk superhero" album i was suprised by the hunger+bite he seemed to have got back. Sadly this album proves it may have been abit of an anti-climax. Where the last album was bolstered with strong production that allowed SON to rip sh*t, this time around the beats mostly sound synth based with weird keyboard samples. In addition SON's flow has fallen off abit too. Its literally like he's trying to rhyme every word in every sentence without actually saying anything interesting or entertaining. Although it was a very similar rhyme-style on the last Funkdoobiest and "funk superhero" albums at least he had a pletora of funny metaphors laced throughout his flow. They're sadly missing here. Apart from tracks like "wonderful world", "l.a.911", "confess", "doobie deluxe" and the brilliantly funky "dub sacks+blunt wraps" (which sounds straight outta his Funkdoobiest days) the album is a let down for his true fans. Practically every other song+chorus sounds the same. Hopefully next time round he'll come correct.
doobie doo is best than ever!.......2004-11-15
