Album Description

This is a very consistant mix of songs ! Baby Anne doesn't really ever disappoint ! If there are some good songs out there to be mixed she has them ! I have been disappointed lately in her mentor "Dj Icey" ! Seems like he has been mixing some inconsistant material. Not saying she is better I just think shes younger and Hungrier ! This Cd is very, Classic in a sense of what breaks are all about ! No boring loops with hip hop samples ! This is the real deal the electro funk breaks ! I love her work keep it up Baby Anne ! But definitley look for her Live in Las Vegas Cd ! Til this day that was her best work ! Unless disc 1 of Assault and Battery superceeds it ! Which I haven't heard yet !

I dont think this CD is all that because I only liked 1 song, track 3, the rest of them are too deep for me, I'm an old school techno lover, so I will say if you like new age Techno, then you will love this CD!!!

This has to be Baby Anne's best mix CD by far. Supersonic Bass is the hardest hitting song on the Mix and the best. Punks is number 2. If your looking for a Mix CD with lots of bass, this is it.

It's about time another good breaks cd was released.I've been a fan of Baby anne ever since I heard her first mix back in 00'.I have to say this is one of my favorite cd's by her,this album is just too sweet for words.I love the way she takes classic Florida breaks and fuses them with Miami style bass and electro.You must buy this cd if you like dance music.

This is a fine collection of mostly classical themes.
Some of them have nice creepy moments, but on the whole, it's just some solid music. Not something to buy if you want really "spooky" music, but worthwhile for some interesting listening.

This is an awesome album. It starts off with thunder crashing, running footsteps, a gate creaking, the wind howling, a cat screeching, a door opening, a woman crying that she needs help....and then SCREAMING! And then straight into track 2, the overture to 'The Phantom of the Opera'. Wow! The rest of the cd also features 'creepy' music from various sources, such as Alfred Hitchcock films, like Psycho, various classic works like Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Night on Bald Mountain', and also some other creepy sound effects. A good album not only for Halloween but I dare you to listen to it during a dark night with a thunderstorm raging outside.

I've owned the "Chiller" CD since it's release in '89. At the time, I was working for a local Audio/Video/Music dealer, and was looking for 'demo' CD's containing not necessarily heavy bass, but ones displaying incredible dynamic range, and sharp transient peaks. I already owned a copy of "Time Warp", also on Telarc, and was intrigued when I read about "Chiller. Needless to say, I was extremely pleased with this disc. Not only did I get a disc containing some great treatments of classics, but the re-make of the "Psycho" suite is wonderful (the shower sequence is very faithful to the original)! A word of warning.....the dynamic range of this disc is not to be underestimated.....I drove an older amplifier into thermal shutdown VERY quickly with track #1. I haven't tried it since I've upgraded my home system....hmmm....might have to scare the neighbors tonight (or at least rattle a few dental fillings)!

This CD contains tons of great classic Halloween tunes. Even though the names might sound unfamiliar, you probably know most of the music on here through cultural osmosis. Heck, it's worth it just for "Funeral March of a Marionette" (the Alfred Hitchcock show theme.)

        Album Description

        Edwin London (b. 1929) is one of the most original and accomplished composers in America today. Unwilling to ally himself with any trendy school of composition, and refusing even to see himself as either a radical or a conservative, he has gone his own way for many years, creating beautiful, challenging, inventive, marvelous music. These five choral works, though vastly different in conception, are nonetheless all expressions of the complex and multifaceted personality of their composer.

        Jove's Nectar is a series of seven character variations, based on the well-known lyric by Ben Jonson, “Drink to me only with thine eyes,” originally titled To Celia.

        Moon Sound Zone, based on a poem written by the composer, is uncannily beautiful, hardly the music we might expect from a procedure that utilizes all twelve notes of the chromatic scale in a mathematically derived distribution.

        Psalm of These Days I and V are the opening and closing segments of a cycle of five interrelated, but varied, vocal/instrumental works based on Psalm texts and written between 1977 and 1980. Inspired in part by ideas suggested by William James's The Varieties of Religious Experience, the cycle offers impressions of religious character types and postures ranging from the “once born soul” through rationality to the “sick soul,” the “mystic experience” and the eventual emergence of the “twice born” soul. The cycle is not religious music per se, but rather is about religious music.

        In Bach (Again) a Bach chorale (actually, any Bach chorale of the performers' choosing) is deconstructed, as each sonority, indeed each note, is elongated so that it comes to be appreciated more for its inherent beauty than for its participation in a harmonic and contrapuntal progression toward a cadence.

              5 out of 5 stars Rozhdestvensky's excellent Shostakovich cycle.......2007-03-15

              Gennadi Rozhdestvensky's Shostakovich symphony cycle from the 1980s is, in my view, one of the three best cycles. These three are, in my preference order:

              1. Kondrashin (originally Melodiya, now Russiandvd - a new remaster, available from Amazon sellers and at Ebay).

              2. Rozhdestvensky (originally Melodiya, but it exists now also in a new Russian remaster from the VENEZIA label, in a fine slimline box which you can find at HMV's internet shop in Japan or at Ebay).

              3. Barshai (originally Regis, now in a Brilliant Classics box.)

              The standard bargain choice is the Barshai box, which boasts very fine playing and fine sound. Kondrashin, my first choice, is quite expensive. But the Rozhdestvensky set should not be overlooked. First, the interpretations are both illuminating and moving, carefully structured and (mostly) beautifully played by a real Russian orchestra in fine form. Second, the new remaster - available at Ebay and at HMV in Japan - is a real bargain. You may grab it for $ 30 or less. Third, the remastered sound is mostly OK, even if Melodiya's original recordings are a bit harsh. However, this is a minor complaint. Kondrashin's set has much worse sound and costs more money. But in both cases, we have excellent, classical, powerful interpretations that hardly can be surpassed.

              Shostakovich collectors need all cycles above, of course. But I warmly recommend a serious search for Gennadi Rozhdestvensky's excellent cycle in its new incarnation.

              4 out of 5 stars A collection that fills an important gap.......2000-06-27

              This collection comes in a box with seven double-discs, each with a booklet describing the work and about the conductor's relationship with the composer and his work by Sigrid Neef. No librettos are enclosed, which does hamper the full appreciation, although fans are likely to have copies of a few of these works lying about. Although all of these recordings have appeared in other guises and formats, this remarkable collection is worthy of consideration. Rozhdestvensky had an interesting relationship with the composer, although never given the opportunity to premier his major symphonic works, the conductor was of critical importance in reviving the "lost" or "unknown" Shostakovich. Rozhdestvensky's excavation into the composer's past resulted in premiering or reviving a vast body of work. An example of this is displayed on, although not limited to, the "Orchestral Works." This conductors travails through the complete symphonies are not likely to be first choice for many, however, this collection does offer a chance to hear a 1980's Soviet run through of one of the most important symphonic cycles of the 20th century.
